  1. You'd have to watch out for those advertiser where they advertise the first or two ringtones for free. Yet they say in small print that there is a surcharge for using the service after downloading the first or second ringtone...
  2. My first site was back in 1998 with Geocities when I first discovered Frontpage and started making a site through there. Slowly learnt the basics of html over the years and studied over time untill now where I use graphic programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc for graphics.Switching over to dreamweaver very much made it easier for me when working in WYSIWYG mode. Since my first site, i've moved hosts pretty quickly, to tripod, angelfire, freeservers (now ad and popup ridden) then moved up to various PHP hosts (alas with ads) till now where I'm setting up with this excellent host (Xisto)
  3. Wikipedia is a pretty good resource to read, but the only thing I'd probably wouldnt trust is that the fact that an unregistered user could just come in and change information to something totally inaccurate or defaming. What i'd probably suggest is to keep the edits to registered users and perhaps have moderators check the information or so, but I'm guessing i'd probably cost a lot or take up a persons time to moderate whats supposed to be an online encyclopedia.
  4. Australian Football - Brisbane Lions..As for Rugby (Union) internationals - I'd say the Wallabies.
  5. It seems that the site is ranked by the amount of sites it's linked to (Example: Blog to Blog or Blog to Community) and also it is measured by how popular the site is (like forums, communities, blogs, etc). So a easier way to get your site out there on the search engines, is to submit the site to many popular search engine.. (google obviously) and to promote (not spam) your link out there to other popular sites in a appropriate way (provided that those sites allow you to advertise your site of course). So basically the more your site is linked to other sites that are already indexed in google engine, the faster it appears in the index. But this only comes from my experience though, I'd be interested to read from those who had different ways or experiences.
  6. All operating systems have their benefits and negatives, however the operating systems tend to be suited for a specific purpose.A good example is linux, more suited towards programming, web design by using code rather than WYSIWYG, and the apache server. Macintosh on the other hand, tends to be more suited towards graphic design and print, since the operating system and the work that comes off graphic software (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc) can be printed and displayed more clearly.Windows XP, is the obvious market leader. Despite Windows being suited for most purposes, obviously it does have its minor errors and consumers either love or hate bill. But from experience, its suited well for gaming, business and Web Design (mainly from a WYSIWYG) point of view, although you can code web pages in windows.
  7. Nothing can beat the old days at the Arcades when DAYTONA USA was around as the premier driving game. Nice graphics, good acceleration and it didnt take too long to master the beginner and advanced courses.. ahhh that was the days . I used to rip em up on the Advanced course and it was like 8 laps to complete.
  8. I had gmail a few months later after it first came out. My email goes all over the place, since I email my work and uni stuff from my work/university accounts to my gmail account. Even that, in addition to the personal emails, funnies from friends and all... It only takes up about 1% of space on my gmail account. From my experience with Hotmail, I've got it in the same year it started. From memory, iirc the overall space was generous around the 5mb-10mb range before Microsoft took over, then after that the service over there started going downhill with the space on hotmail accounts being reduced to 2mb the obvious example. Its good to see that gmail's arrival has woken up the competitors. Seeing that today, competitors are tinkering around with the services; for example Yahoo's tinkering of their e-mail interface. I wouldnt be suprised if premium email is going to be offered for free (or close to free). To conclude, I'll definitely be sticking with g-mail for a long time, especially with the useful search functions (rather than going back page by page).
  9. My favourite drinks would have to be.. (not in any specific order)Water (refreshes your thirst and is good after sport or running)Mountain Dew / Solo / Lemonade.. (with any fast food meal)Beer / Rum (either heading out, or after a weeks work).
  10. G'day..I'm new to this place, and I thought I'll take the time of this early morning down under to introduce myself. My name is Arnz, 22 male and from Brisbane, Australia. I'm currently studying at University for a double degree in Business and Arts. I've already close to finishing Art major, which is Computer Based Art & Design. My Business major hasnt been decided yet, but I'm leaning towards marketing. On my downtime over the breaks, I've worked and designed a few sites for small-business and recently for a reasonably large business client as a freelance worker. My portfolio maybe small at the moment, but is growing (Don't hesistate to ask me for some work via PM if you want). I've know a fair bit of PHP, and am fluent enough in Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop. That is it for now, so once again.. Hiya and play nice people
  11. I've only used Creative Labs and Altec Lansing. From my experience, Altec Lansing is good for games, and to a lesser extent movies. Altec Lansing's speakers has a lot of bass and it's really freaky when playing 3D games or watching a scary/action movie. But for clearer sound when playing various music genres, I'd go for Creative Labs. Like a poster said earlier, the transition between the left and right speakers are excellent.
  12. From what I hear, the interface is very similar to Outlook/Outlook express. I may have not tried it yet, but going by experiences with YahooMail, which had a lot of spam problems in the past (and Hotmail). I probably will be sticking with Gmail, much more easier and the search function helps find a lost post I may search for one day.
  13. We have both down here in Australia, Both have their positives and negatives. The positives for McD's (or Maccas) is that down here they have recently introduced a salads plus + deli menu, where theres a good range of deli subs from Chicken Caesar, Chicken Tandoori, Beef, Vegi Plus, etc, this is in addition to their standard menu.As for KFC, they have their standard menu but the specials does tend to be steep, a good example is a "double bacon & bbq chicken fillet" burgers alone does tend to cost more than a "meal" from their standard menu. But if it was out of the 2.. I'd go for KFC, considering when I grab KFC its normally a "2 Piece Feed" meal, which includes bread, 2 pieces of chicken (usually ask for 2 hot and spicy breast pieces), regular chips, drink and gravy... It's a good feed. But overall, I have other preferences (Subway, Hungry Jacks aka Burger King) over those 2..
  14. Coming from a person that has used both Frontpage and Dreamweaver, I tend to be learning towards Dreamweaver. It's a bit more useful, doesnt add as much junk code as frontpage and does tend to be helpful towards the newbiesSo if you really need to use a WYSIWYG editor, I'd suggest to get Dreamweaver. It has 3 options, which you can go mostly WYSIWYG, split worktop option (WYSIWYG/Plain Code) and just Plain Code. From my experience when I use Dreamweaver, I tend to code a bit in the split (WYSIWYG/Plain Code) worktop interface. But if you really want to code a webpage (HTML code etc), Either go with the suggestions the past posters has provided, or alternatively use Notepad (hey at least notepad doesnt interfere with your work!)Good luck..
  15. Cartoons... even if you grow up.. you're still a kid at heart watching the classic cartoons For mine.. A mention would have to go out to Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny and Loony Tunes/Merry Melodies considering I've grown up watching them. A real favourite I've grown up to watch and still be watching today is THE SIMPSONS.. after 15 or so seasons it still brings a laugh..For the new stuff, Cat dog, IM Weasel/IR Baboon, Johnny Bravo, South Park and FUTURAMA. Out of those, I'd tend to lean towards Futuruma as a real favourite. As for Pokemon and Dragonball Z, they tend to be more oriented towards the kids and I aint a real fan of em. However some older people do tend to like those type of cartoons
  16. Yes I guess that is a good thing. I use Dreamweaver to establish the templates, web pages or layouts for client sites, and my old personal sites in the past. At the same time, I've used photoshop for the web graphics and Flash for some interaction. So I guess it's a good thing that any future releases of "Adobe Dreamweaver" will link up to Photoshop. Although a sad thing to come out of Adobes acquisition of Macromedia is that Fireworks is probably likely to be axed from the combined Adobe/Macromedia product range (in favour of Photoshop). Although I dont use Fireworks, it'll probably be a bit frustrating for those having to convert over to Photoshop.
  17. I've played this game it first came out, and also played the sequel and the add on packs with scenarios and missions. In addition, I've also had played the game that started the theme park simulations (Theme Park). Is there anyone else out there who loves this game as much as I do? Its interesting to change the land and terrain around to get rides into interesting positions or have Roller Coasters on a very HIGH steel/cement supports. Its so rewarding to watch a park that you started grow from a small park to a bustling busy tourist attraction. Very addictive..
