Well I was just wondering if anybody has taken this test....and what your thoughts were of the testI have taken it and passed, without too much trouble, however I felt that the test itself was not that great of a test. Sure it asks you lots of questions about things, but how is that pratical? Is it all that important to know what the names of certain things are (as to if they are Microsoft <utility name here>, or Windows <utility name here> where it chances between the two depending on what version of windows you are in) or some of the other little things.I was thinking that it would be more practicle if the test was set up differently. Maybe so that there are some questions required you to actually solve problems.....by going through a series of steps....(and they give you a time limit on how long you have to solve the problem)....that way it not only tests your knoledge of some of the more intricate things of stuff, but also puts you to the test on practical working skills....It was just an idea I had about the particular test. Also, I find the test to be fairly one sided, it is called an Operating Systems test, yet the only operating systems that are covered on the test appear to be made by a certain company called Microsoft. (Yes it is the major one that is used, but wouldn't it also be important to know some other operating systems as well)All in all though, it does do a good job with testing your knowlege on the subject area, so I probably shouldn't complain too much. But the test seems like it could use some improvement.I was just wondering if others have thought the same about this test or if you think it is a good test or whatever....

Well I must say, this is a bold approach by yahoo....however I am guessing that they will have some issues associated with this, or some things in their terms of service about sharing the space with other users, and if a user is compromising the space in any way (using too much of it) they can terminate the mail account or something (kind of like what happens with hosting that offers unlimited space or bandwidth, etc....

Well i haven't tried vista yet, however I have heard of and had several friends comment on it, and I can say a number of things.First of all, from what I have heard, vista isn't ready yet...there are still several issues. Second, windows xp performs better on even many new machines, simply because it requires less resources. So all in all, I think you might be better off waiting a little longer before getting vista...

hmmm....i have looked around and it seems as though this new version of cpanel is definitely an improvement over the old one, however, like others I agree, it needs to be released as a stable version (and maybe even be out as stable for a little while) so that all the bugs and kinks can be worked out....The last thing we want it for it to not work and cause all of our sites to go down.

New Chips On Dvds Could Prevent Theft
.:Brian:. replied to webguru's topic in Science and Technology
hmmm....interesting idea....however will it be effective?Or how long is it until someone finds a way to activate them themselves? In which case there would be a market for devices or instructions on how to illegally steal dvd's and activate them so that they are playable....I don't know much about this technology, but it does sound like an interesting idea....and it would probably stop your average criminals....Although I do have to agree about the DVD's on the internet, and finding a way to fix that..... -
Well I am going to have to agree with this one....haven't seen something that bad in a while though....The background is really hard on the eyes....but if you go back about 10 years to when the internet was just starting to get big, there were tons of websites that were like that...

Well I think that this is a good move.... I mean it'll add more variety to PCs if it actually happens. Although I think we are getting a little ahead of it here, they haven't even announced it....Also, about programs that were designed to run in windows, like photoshop running in ubuntu, that depends....some of them will run with something called wine, others will not.

Windows Vienna Next Version of Windows
.:Brian:. replied to delivi's topic in Websites and Web Designing
People claiming that microsoft is working on a new release way too soon after their release of vista aren't really thinking that much.It takes years to come up with a new version of windows, it isn't like as soon as a new version of windows is released the developers just take vacations for 3 years and then come back for a month and make a new version of windows....Also, about starting it before the release of vista, I am sure that is because Microsoft had numerous features that they wanted to have in vista that did not make it in time for its release, therefore the next version of windows started in order to be able to save time with programming.I am guessing that it will be a better os than the previous, because as much as people complain, microsoft has been making an operating system that is more and more stable (overall) throughout the years. And before you go saying that I am a microsoft lover, I am not. Yes I do use windows for a number of things, but I also use linux a ton. They are both great operating systems depending on what you are trying to do. -
P2p Tv - Exciting New Way To Watch Tv On Internet
.:Brian:. replied to saneax's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This looks like a really cool service, and I'll take an invite to this.I have PMed you my e-mail address because I don't want it getting spammed. -
At the current time my site appears to be functioning, and I haven't noticed any issues in the past (other than the one time when there were the major issues with lots of accounts)....So maybe you should e-mail support for help, as it is probably an individual account issue?

Web Designers Can Have A Myspace Too!
.:Brian:. replied to mtnbluet's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well I don't really get the myspace connection here, but I can say that this website does seem like a nice tool....kind of like a way to have a ton of references in one place all categorized....I saw this on digg and thought it seemed like there were a ton of nice tools on it, so I would recommend it to others as well... -
Wow, thanks for the great resources, although I knew of several of these, i didn't know of all of them. What I really should say is that web developers need to use some of these services (particularly the html & css validators) because so many websites are browser specific these days and don't follow standards....I have used the browsershots.org one before, and it is definitely a great one to use for seeing if your website works in some other browsers that you don't have access to.

Congratulations, and I hope you enjoy your new computer.I know this is way off topic, but just wondering what operating system(s) are you running on this computer?
-
I have to say that I would give it a 10/10...simply because it is so much better than everything else....You go to other search engines are their pages are cluttered with all kinds of stuff, and take forever to load....google on the other hand is very simple, and very fast to load. Also, I find that the search results on google are a better than the ones on other sites, they seem much more relevant....
-
Well there could be a number of issues here. What I would do, is first double check all the cables are hooked up correctly. Make sure that nothing is missing from anything. The fact that it is turning on for a second, and then nothing, indicates that something isn't really letting the computer get as far as the POST....I would make sure that the CPU is correctly installed and look at all the jumper settings, one jumper set incorrectly could cause the issue.Once you have done that if you are still having problems, let us know....

My Review Of Runescape... What's Yours ( Poll ) ? My Review
.:Brian:. replied to RsHeaven Owner's topic in General Discussion
I have to say that I feel that runescape is a great game. To everybody who says the graphics are terrible, look at the game....it is browser based, and you can play it on any platform that java runs (which is quite a few). That means that more people can play runescape than almost any other online game. And the graphics are still amazing for something that is done in java.I have to say that the gameplay is great as well, you can do so many things in runescape. Yes it does get boring after a little while, but that happens with all games doesn't it?I ended up rating it a 4/5 -
Unofficial Astahosted Members Directory
.:Brian:. replied to turbopowerdmaxsteel's topic in Programming
Well I have to say that this is a nice script...however it would definitely be better if it was a little faster at loading...Maybe Xisto should consider having some sort of official list? One that'll load instantly because it just gets the info out of a database?Because that would be really nice...Anyhow, great work on the script, it is very nice, and is a great start, as I am sure that you'll work on improving it more and more... -
Wow this is a great tutorial so far....The one thing though...is the title you have says that you are creating a simple but effective site....and to me that would imply a very simple site, not something using flash, and all that kind of stuff....And I can't use it because I don't have the software to, but anyhow, it is very well written. One thing is that the images aren't showing up?Keep at the tutorial, as it looks like you have a long way to go....actually by the amount of stuff you have there, it looks like you could practically write a book! Good job, as I am sure it'll be used by tons of people.

Lol...i am surprised I haven't seen this yet...I wonder how this got out...if one of google's developers let it out somewhere....and it spread that way...or if somebody was just wasting their time trying to see something interesting...Anyhow, it is something that'll give you a laugh...

This is a nice tutorial, and it really gets across some nice aspects of getting visitors to your site. I'll definitely keep this in mind when i go to start promoting my website. One thing i would caution about a monthly newsletter, is make sure it is something people can easily opt-out of...better yet, make it so that they must opt-in...Because I hate it when i join a website (usually forums)....and they seem to think that I want newsletters from them, even though I don't....yet the only way to not get them is to change my e-mail address on the site, or delete my account from the website all together. So I think people should really keep that in mind when sending e-mails to all their members.
