  1. Wow, that looks really cool....I am watching the video now to see how you did all of that....Wish I was able to do stuff like that though...
  2. Well, I can say that I still would like a little notification about outages and such...if it were possible...For instance, at the moment...i am unable to load my website...it says that it cannot find the server...yet Xisto works fine...so i am not sure what that is about...but i'll wait about a half hour or so before formally contacting support.Does anybody else feel the same way about getting notified somehow about system outages (even if it is after they have occurred, and have been fixed)?
  3. Well, I have had a linksys wireless b router for some time now, but had been having issues with not getting a strong enough signal throughout my house. Yet what seemed odd, is that I could get stronger signal from all of my neighbors, even those who were down the street several houses from me. And so I decided that it was time to purchase a new wireless router. Even though, the newest computer I have is wireless g, I went for the wireless n because of the increased range, and the thought that it will probably be a better investment for the future. I am impressed, immediatly after plugging it in, setting up the security settings and such, I noticed a huge difference. Not only was I not getting constantly disconnected (I have yet to actually get disconnected from the network), but also I noticed that the one computer with the g networking adapter got an increase of internet speed from about 1-2Mbps to a little over 6Mbps, and so now web pages come up almost instantly. Also the configuration pages of the router are so easy to understand and use and again work much faster than the previous wireless b router I had. I would highly recommend this product to everybody, the particular one I got was the wireless n router that is around $120 (frequently on sale for $100), and is located here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  4. anytime somebody comes up with something where they start making a lot of money, somebody is going to try and find some way to get money out of them....it is a given. So I think it is just some plot by a company to try and get money out of facebook, one of their competitors.
  5. I too agree with almost everybody here, in that the number of credits earned per post is actually really high. And when you think about it, sometimes I feel as though you earn too many credits per post....I mean....one post and I get like 3-4 credits or more sometimes? That translates into 3-4 days of hosting, which in turn means that I really don't have to post very much in order to keep my hosting going. So I actually feel if anything, it almost should be the opposite, we earn too many credits sometimes for some of our posts, and it should almost be changed a little bit the other way in order to have the forums become more active.
  6. The server may be fine, actually I am sure that the server was fine, seeing as it appeared as though I couldn't connect to the other xisto network sites, meaning that more than one server was not responding. What I am guessing is that it was some sort of a problem with the connections all the servers had to the internet or something, anyhow it would be nice to hear some announcements about these outages at some point....you know like a little thing, saying sorry for the downtime....blah...blah...etc.?
  7. I was just wondering if there was some major outage or something? Because when trying to visit my site it did not work (at the moment it still doesn't, but hopefully that'll fix itself soon). Also, when trying to view Xisto, the website did not load. After trying to load other xisto websites, I had the same issue. I was just wondering what all that was about, since I thought that these sites were on different servers and such.
  8. I haven't noticed any problems....however as has been stated, you probably had a post or two that was deleted for some reason or another. Don't worry too much about it, just keep posting and all should be fine.
  9. I would turn on your computer and push the F8 key, before the windows logo appears to get the boot up menu to appear (press the button multiple times, before the windows logo appears). Then select the safe mode option. Once your computer boots into safe mode, go to my computer, go to the hard drive, and to c:\. Then go to view --> options, and make sure that show hidden and operating system files is checked. Then look for the file, and delete it if it is there. Also try enabling hibernation while in safe mode, to see if that works.
  10. I am wondering if there is there any way that they can give us the choice of a theme, even if we have to pay a few extra credits to get this....i would be fine with having to get some extra in order to do so.
  11. auto margins will work fine in other resolutions....it is when you have margins set so that they are not auto or not percentage values that you run into problems.
  12. Well I haven't really tried much in the area of games, but in the area of business type software, and internet browsing, it seems to work amazingly well. Also, haven't had a single program crash on me yet, or a single error message. (I think i was in xp a total of about 5 minutes before I had some sort of error message pop up).So maybe i'll try installing a game or something and trying to see about performance. But so far, it seems to be great....although I haven't tried installing xp on the machine (they gave me the cd's for both xp and vista, i am guessing in case i wanted to downgrade?)....I won't try xp unless I start running into issues with things, but so far, haven't had a single issue. Haven't come across any of these bugs people talk about there being a ton of....so it would be nice if somebody could point some out...because i haven't found any.Security seems to be great in vista, and my virus scanner.....appears to allow this computer to run much better with it running....no longer do I notice any difference with a virus program running in the background (I can even run a full system scan in the background without slowing the computer down).
  13. My favorite os is definetly windows vista. It is so stable, haven't had any issues with it so far.....and it runs so fast and smooth compared to windows xp.Also, the overal ease of use (once you get used to it), is so much better than previous versions of windows....just the sheer way things are laid out, makes finding out how to do a task easy.Yes, there is a learning curve, and you do need a computer with fairly good graphics capabilities, but other than that, it is really nice, especially with a dual core processor at work.
  14. Yes, however.....if a xisto stafff member sees this, they may be able to send out some kind of an e-mail or something with an official poll that is available to hosted members only allowing us to vote. Or at least they could look at this and tell us the reasons that they are staying with the rv skin.
  15. I think in general the theme colors are fine, just change the background color of the whole page, outside the forums....to something a little lighter in color...Also, yes the chatbox needs to be at the top or bottom of the forums, like on Xisto, not in the middle....and it should span the entire width of the area it is going to ocupy. And then, i take it you have to register to see the rest of the forums? How about some big notice about that when you aren't registered and/or logged in? Just to make it a little more clear. I didn't register, so I don't know for sure if that is the case, but I was assuming so.Anyhow, that is all I really have for now.
  16. just use css to set the left and right margin to auto, and you'll be able to center your div (assuming you also have a width set for the div). An example would be: <div id="content" style="width: 745px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;">the content here</div> So if centering your site, you would put your website inside of that. Hope this helps, if it doesn't I would recommend posting a link to either your website, or an example of an attempt at what you are doing, so we can take a look at the code, and provide more specific help.
  17. Well I know that this is an older thread, that hasn't been brought up in a while, but I thought I would share some of my experience with vista.I just got a new laptop computer with an Intel core 2 duo 2.0Ghz processor, 2GB RAM, 256MB Nvidia graphics card, with windows vista ultimate.I can say that it really outperforms my old 1.7Ghz pentium 4 computer by a ton, and I don't notice any lag anywhere, everything seems so speedy and works without a flaw.I am so far enjoying vista, unlike what many others here seem to feel. I think the problem is mainly when people try and upgrade their computers to vista, whereas when you buy a computer for it, it'll work much better. Same thing happened with xp for a while, because a lot of hardware didn't have drivers that supported the operating system. If you want a new PC go for vista, and if you want vista go for a new PC.
  18. Does anybody from xisto ever come on here anymore and read the threads? It would be nice if we heard some comments in response to this from somebody who is up there....somebody who can make some changes with things, at least give some input as to reasons why we can't have options or why we can't have the default cPanel theme, etc.Anyhow, yep it is looking like a fairly big landslide here on what people like, i just find the default theme easier to get around....the rv one....i can't ever seem to find anything...
  19. I don't think that there really is a way to do that effeciently, you would have to do it manually, and it would probably require several calls to the database. Why do you need this anyhow? Is it really all that important?
  20. Exactly what I was thinking....the digital part...gets rid of the idea of a photo that is to be kept for years and years and years...
  21. I am thinking it might not be possible to have multiple themes installed, otherwise I am guessing it would be a choice? But seeing how this is going so far, if it keeps up, maybe the theme will be changed back to the regular one!
  22. At the current moment on my website I am using myBB. I started using that a while ago, and stayed with it because I love how easy it is to use, and how feature filled it is. And the biggest plus....it is free!Adding modifications is as easy as uploading one file, and hitting an activate button in the admin control panel, and then setting some options in the admin area.Modifying your theme is easy as well.So I have just decided that I really like mybb, compared to other forum software that is available.
  23. going off of what xboxrulz says, I too think it would be nice if it was just the standard cPanel theme....so I am going to make a poll, so members can vote on it. Maybe that will allow us to voice our opinion better for what cPanel theme we like? See the poll, vote, and discuss here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/93640-topic/?findpost=1064373843
  24. Ok, well I really don't like the rv series theme that Xisto has, and I know I have seen a couple of others here that feel the same, so I thought I would create this poll about it, you never know maybe we'll find something out from this.I just find the standard cpanel theme so professional and easy to use, and the rv one, just doesn't have that look and feel to it, at least to me.So what does everybody else feel about the different cpanel themes?
  25. As to why I don't plug my monitor into it...it is because I want to maximize the battery life...and my monitor also appears to be a big power hog...when I turn it on it causes the lights to dim as it turns on....and sometimes enough to where the ups activates...and if it is plugged into the ups...sometimes when i turn the monitor on, it'll cause it to overload and shut itself off which isn't very good. The nice thing about the UPS I have is that it has 3 outlets that have the battery backup, and then 3 outlets with just surge protection. Also, it is nice to have a phone plugged into my UPS...so when the power does go out, especially if it is storming, i can use a cordless phone (no risk of getting shocked because of a lightening strike) even when the power is out.
