Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Come to talk about this game
Jeigh1405241495 replied to iGuest's topic in Computer Gaming
The game doesn't look much better then vice because the PS2 couldn't handle much better since its already an amazing accomplishment that the game runs like it does on that system. Therefor if we wanted COMPLETELY redone and pimped out graphics we'd have to wait like a year extra for it to be ported to PC/Xbox, which frankly I'm more then willing to take a graphics hit in order to have it already. Graphics are nice but gameplay is more important as long as the graphics arn't damaging the gameplay.Oh and about the hot coffee mod, of course its only good for a few laughs. I mean... assuming reports that its actual code are true... it was obviously just a joke some coders built into the game and there was a REASON the code was left unused, itwas just there for fun, not meant to be implemented and "forced" onto kids like the media is making it sound. -
Where Can I Find Good Free Website Templates

You SHOULD get a disposable account...and just keep it around and use it to sign up for everything regardless Thats what I do, keeps my main acocunt junkmail free weeeEEEEee! -
Just to point out to a couple of you...FPS means FIRST person shooter...not third. Just having a first person view mode doesn't make a game that is intended to be third person a FPS...

I just help people upgrade their computers (they give me there money, I obtain and install the parts) and for a "fee" I keep there old hardware, keeps the toys flowing well

Which Linux Fuels You?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Ah true, for 56k users the distro preferances would differ a fair bit, since some distros thrive on their package obtaining software, while others try to give you the kitchen sink and everything else from the get-go. -
To the guy asking about getting extensions/themes without the newest version of FF... if you type about:config into your address bar and then find the entry called "general.useragent.vendorSub"and double click its value (1.x.x whatever you have) and change that to 1.0.4 or 1.0.5 or whatever, it should trick the site into letting you in. I did that on my linux partition and it worked, havn't tried it on windows but assume it works the same.

It sounds moreso like he's asking if there is any way someone could break thru the firewall... like known vulnerabilities they havn't fixed quite yet. Although I could be off base but thats what I gather he's asking.

Which Linux Fuels You?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've tried Mandrake 9.2 and 10, Suse 9.1, Red Hat 9.0 and FC2 I think...and they all had their ups and downs but in the end the one thats held me the longest thus far is actually Ubuntu 5.04. I'm still fairly new to the linux environment so I wanted something that had some flexibility and felt like linux, but still allowed me to be able to do everything I would normally do on a day to day basis without having to go through painful amounts of setup.Basically Ubuntu did the following (of which the others often did some, but didn't hit all in my case)1-Set up my network properly. Mandrake did this too, Suse almost did, RedHat 9 did not but FC2 did. Currently I would be able to handle this either way probably, but at the beginning I would have been lost trying to get my network up had it not auto detected.2-Ati drivers installed that weren't so horrible that putting my res above 1024x768 slowed down my DESKTOP haha. They arn't the newest drivers, but they are pretty good defaults.3- Apt-Get. This wonderful command where I can type "sudo apt-get install ____" and 9 times out of 10 whatever I fill the blank with will download and install, no questions asked (well...one...for the root password). If thats not your style theres also an easy to use package manager/downloader that makes installing more software a breeze.4- Lots of useful programs but leaves the more obscure for you to download on your own. It comes with firefox as the default browser, has OpenOffice 2 for all your office needs, and a bunch of other apps but still only has one install cd.5- Community. While lots of linux distros have a good set of followers, ubuntu thrives on its community. Their main forums have anything you'd need to know, from setting up software to FAQS to an "automate" script that a user made to set you up with the basic apps/plugins that are usually wanted by people.Sure it's not a hardcore distro, but its linux and its easy to use. A combination of the overall feel and the apt-get that it brought over from its debian roots allows for endless software to be at a quick console command away. The only real downside is that if you get Ubuntu, it only comes with Gnome and the KDE interface you can easily download is a bit clunky. So KDE flashy interface lovers might want to check out Kubuntu, which I've heard works better with the KDE interface (since its the KDE version of ubuntu...hence kubuntu) but I havn't checked itno that myself. But yes, I may someday move onto bigger and better things, but for now I'm going to stick with Ubuntu, it's serving me well and has yet to disappoint me.P.S. - To anyone who tries Ubuntu as an early intro to linux...do NOT get scared off by the ugly old school looking installer. I've herad of numerous people thinking it looked very complciated to install when in reality its probably the most straightforward linux distro to install I've ever used. Seriously its only like 2-3 choices...and most of those ar time zone/keyboard related. The only one involving any thought is about partitioning your drives. After this its just sit back and wait. -
Ssh A little help would be much appreciated
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Jeigh1405241495's topic in Computer Networks
Ah cool, that port list will probably come in handy someday. But yea I'm sure I can figure out the port forwarding things, my routers got a pretty straight forward config interface. Thanks again man, usually I can get past these little hiccups easily enough but every once in awhile lady luck decides to stop me up haha. -
Ssh A little help would be much appreciated
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Jeigh1405241495's topic in Computer Networks
Yea I usually have another comp on the network but don't for the next month or so or I would have tried that. So is port 22 the default port that is automatically used by ssh? If so that shouldn't be too hard to set up tonight. I was trying to find the port it used and maybe I just had horrible luck but the sites I all looked at seemed to ignore explaining WHAT port to forward...thanks in advance, hopefully thats all I needed to know -
Alright so I've used linux on and off for about a year now but never really gotten much past using it for my coding for school and general web browsing and the like. I've been trying to get more into it lately and one thing I wanted to try setting up was ssh so I could access my files from other places.I'm running Ubuntu for my distro and I've installed both he ssh and ssh server packages so it's apparently supposed to be running :| I've set up an account with dyndns.org so I can use that to easily access my ip address from abroad, and thought everything was going smoothly until I actually TRIED to ssh in haha. No dice.I can ping my router (I assume...SOMETHING is pinging properly at the ip I linked to dyndns) using the dyndns account I setup but thats about it. I am under the impression I need to set up something along the lines of port forwarding in my router but any resource I've read about this hasn't explained that well...it basically said to "set it up" which...is what I wanted help on...so that was pointless to me. Anyways if anyone can sort of walk me through a step by step of setting everything up it'd be much appreciated. As I mentioned I'm running Ubuntu linux 5.04 and have a d-link router (I believe...I'll check that when I get home tonight and post the specifics if its not). Oh and if you want to move this to the linux forum you can, I was up in the air on where to post it since it seems more networking then linux but whatever, you're the admins heh.

Final Fantasy Vii Sequels Which is the most wanted
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Mahanon's topic in Computer Gaming
fully fleshed out? The story was already massive... :| I'm in the "just wanna see it remade all pretty" camp. Leave the gameplay alone, dont make sequels (well advent children is ok...no game sequels) and just polish the **** out of it then sell it and allow me to enjoy it in all its glory. -
Windows Xp Vs. Linux Which one do you prefer?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Airlub's topic in Websites and Web Designing
my personal preferances aside... logan your logic is completely wrong. They don't make viruses for windows because they dislike windows...they make it for windows because windows is SUCCESSFUL. Why would a virus maker bother ****ing with linux...not even ppl use it. They make viruses to mess peoples systems so they make it for the system with the most users... more user and less comp literate users means more damage per virus released... simple conditionals. As I said, I'm not really defending microsoft or windows, I know which I prefer, thats not the point. But bash M$ and windows for what it actually does wrong, dont diss it for random things it cant control. -
Ubuntu! Install My weekend project
Jeigh1405241495 replied to Trekkie101's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Personally I love the Ubuntu installer. Sure it's ugly as sin... but that isn't really relevant. I mean, the whole point of it is to be simple, which it acheives perfectly. A handful of enter strokes and your install is flying. What you DO need to make choices about are all very simple things (language and timezone or whatever it is). The only thing you need to have any computer know-how to do is the partitioning but thats going to be similar in all linux distros and is again fairly simple. So yes its ugly, but its fast, efficient, and doesn't make you go through tonnes of choices that you may or may not know the answers to if you are a n00b.But yea, I've been reading some things about ubuntu/linux is general the alst day or two and have been getting myself in a linux groove so I might reinstall ubuntu tonight. It's the distro I currently have installed alongside my xp partition but I ****ed around with it alot a month or so ago and kind of corrupted a bunch of stuff and just kinda mucked it up... so since I dont have much actual data on there I may as well start fresh. Plus I'm gonna need a distro set up soon anyways for once my university courses start back up for programming so I'll likely set all that up this weekend too. Mmmm, geek-out weekend -
Windows Sercurity Centre Is Spyware?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to crs_cwiz1405241504's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Oh, sorry for the double post, but I also had to say that to the "windows secuirty alert is a good thing" comment...it CAN be a good thing. Not for everyone... it *****es at me 24/7 for having the firewall turned off (as it conflicted with some programs and my router has a hardware firewall so I dont care if its on) and about my anti-virus being out of date even though its not because its a version of mcafee from work so doesn't update thru the real mcafee site... so for many it could be good, but not all, as all it does for me is annoy me about things I already know. **end of rant** -
Windows Sercurity Centre Is Spyware?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to crs_cwiz1405241504's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Yea... Windows is **** but it wouldn't send you to spyware, that would just be retarded on levels inconceivable by me. They'd get their asses sued so fast :|Also, using adaware and SS&D and whatnot dont mean you have no spyware...new stuff is made all the time and unless the people know to fix against it those programs would never defend against it. Oh and if you have 100gigs of data, you should have a dvd burner...end of story. Backups a breeze with the right hardware -
Shockingly they have insanely good quality imagery of Bagdhad... go figure...

Do Aliens Really Exist? Hot Debate! do they really exist?
Jeigh1405241495 replied to tcave's topic in Science and Technology
...I could be an alien....I'm not...but I could be...But yea all the conspiracy type stuff about aliens is kind of rediculous. Do they exist? I believe so. Did Farmer Joe get taken aboard a ship and anal probed? Not so much, he just ate a few too many paint chips as a kid -
