  1. unless, Microsoft collapses because it made huge mistakes like adding TCPA/TCP, DRM into Vista.Force upgrades and etc. Most of my friends and family opposes that idea.xboxrulz
  2. SuSE is going GNOME default soon because of "corporate" users. Yet, the good news is that even Linus backs up KDE. :Dxboxrulz
  3. maybe this is why http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Anyways, try running any spyware, anti-virus to see if you can remove these anomolies. xboxrulz
  4. Hey all, Post YOUR funniest computer software errors and abnormality here. Please do NOT intentionally make these "errors". Here are 2 of mine: CLEARLY MY C: DRIVE IS MOUNTED YOU STUPID WINDOWS! to add to the collection, this is by far the weirdest. This happens on my computer: So, now Skype thinks that phone numbers are users, but always OFFLINE. xboxrulz
  5. Fedora and SuSE are both FREE in open source and in money-wise.xboxrulz
  6. nice, but too bad that's not the case with my family. I tried to convince my parents to install Linux after their computer got nuked by a virus, but they still refused after I told them all the advantages...xboxrulz
  7. not a problem for me. My DVD drive is less than a year old. I just bought it in holidays 2004.xboxrulz
  8. well, that's freaky, but most likely people would pay for it since most software is locked for Windows.xboxrulz
  9. This is very old news. The project is most likely dormant. It's best to go for the latest CVS/Beta.xboxrulz
  10. I disagree. Debian, an old timer, it needs to be revamped. It doesn't meet at least my standards because it's annoying, old, bad package manager, too much restrictions and it really pisses you off.Ubuntu/Kubuntu, a Debian-base distro, was very annoying. It is not expert friendly. The Debian configurators locked all of the settings and I can't change it for my liking. I can't even install the NVIDIA drivers properly, using the kernel's source. All Debian based distributions are as bad as Windows I think, too much restrictions and it's not even fast. SuSE is much better because it's very flexible. It can be for the "1337" user and for n00bs and Debian can't meet that standards.Gentoo is just a hassle. It's great for people who want to build their own Linux from bottom up, but that's not for me.Slackware, just like Debian, can't catch up in the competition against SuSE/Red Hat/Mandriva. It's not really adeptable. These are my opinion of course!xboxrulz
  11. Yes, this pagefile is enabled by default, just like UNIX based OSes like Linux and it's called swap :Dxboxrulz
  12. it's not rumoured that it runs Linux based, it is Linux based, ever since PS2. PSP is the same.xboxrulz
  13. the last one is NOT recommended because you may shut your computer off by accident without saving your work. Editing your registry is HIGHLY dangerous, don't touch anything. Things are committed immediately.xboxrulz
  14. You know that storing anime from the internet is highly illegal, just as to download and watch movies. Therefore, if we use our computer "legitimitely" then, really in 2006, no one needs 2 TB in the personal sector. If you are so stuck to download movies, there are things like DivX, RMVB, etc to compress such files that you don't need a big HDD.xboxrulz
  15. tried that "tactic", doesn't work. I tried advertising SuSE Linux, but from feedback, the only reason they don't want to switch is the drivers/software issues they would have.xboxrulz
  16. I think they did it so that people could stop joking with their slogan, "Intel inside .. Idiot Outside", "LINUX INSIDE" and etc.xboxrulz
  17. we've seen 500 gb, 800 gb, 1 TB, 2 TB but does 32-bit systems handle them? I've heard there was a limit of like 640 GB and 2 GB RAM for 32-bit systems. Also, who uses, or buys a 2 TB HDD for personal use? I know that XFS (EB), JFS (PB), ReiserFS (TB), NTFS (EB), ext2/3 (TB). [things in bracket is the biggest unit of measurement that a filesystem can go] More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_systems xboxrulz
  18. 2006 landed in Toronto 38 minutes ago.English: Happy New Year!Chinese: 幸福的新年!(it's runned through a translator as my computer can't type Chinese)French: Bonne année!xboxrulz
  19. nicely said abriham, I chose Linux because it was free, then I found out that it was far better than Windows, then I discovered about Microsoft's evil regime. Without Linux, I wouldn've never knew Microsoft was playing the good guy, but under their "skin" they were demons from hell (except the gaming studios, (especially Bungie) and the XBOX)xboxrulz
  20. therefore, this time Guinness World Records is wrong... The second link has a person that has a birth certificate.xboxrulz
  21. ummm... that's WinXP.I know how to on SuSE Linux though... Slackware is not good for newcomers.xboxrulz
  22. yup, IPB is just another forum software gone paid. Some good forums software include; Quicksilver Forums (I endorse this product), phpBB, XMB, K4BB, iKonBoard, SMF, EKINBoard, VUBB, MyBB.It's better to install forums on your own server since you have more control.xboxrulz
  23. There's actually an operating system that is not based on UNIX but also shares a concept of UNIX. It's called SkyOS. Mainly inspired by BeOS (their forums now cramped with BeOS lovers, which causes me, a "new generation" Linux user)http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, it is the fastest operating system in the world, faster than Windows, Mac, Linux, UNIX, BeOS, AIX, Solaris, and others.xboxrulz
