P2P programs(merged) What P2P program are you using?
jcguy replied to prolifik's topic in Computer Networks
I tried Shareaza before, after reading of the many positive reviews on Download.com. But it has spyware - it tries to add a obscure program called Giftopen.exe to your windows startup. apparently, it acts as a trojan horse.I think the best p2p program is Limewire - fast, have the files i want, and is adware/spyware-free. -
As far as I know, the GIMP is the best free open-source image editing program around, with its many funcationalities against the industry's best but costly Photoshop. IrfanView 3.95 seems to be a popular free option as well. https://3''>https://3'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://3 You can try searching around in Download.com, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ https://a='>like here. There are some good ones like https://l'>Paintshop but they aren't freeware, though trial versions are available.

Hmmn...I've a phobia of P2P software in the past because of the many spyware and adware problems, like Kazaa. When you say it is ad-supported, what do you mean? Does it display intrusive adverts like pop-ups and whatnots?

If I want to rip any CD and convert the tracks to digital files, i just use Windows Media Player, although I concede that there is considerable loss of quality and it only converts to WMA format. I can't be bothered to download any specialised software for ripping purposes.

Even if the emphasis now is on XHTML and it's many advantages over HTML, do you think that XHTML will achieve mass adoption among internet users and web designers soon? Everybody's so used to dealing with HTML, many will hesitate to switch to XHTML, especially if they think it's a more difficult language than HTML. Don't you think so?

You can try a search on the boards. Look up to the top most right hand corner of your screen and you'll see 'Search'. Try searching for it using that or use Google.

Have You Ever Been To Yagoohoogle? Google Yahoo together...
jcguy replied to finaldesign1405241487's topic in Search Engines
I don't think the creator of this project will be sued. He/she did not do anything illegal like stealing Yahoo or google's search code and algorithmns. I'm concerned though, about the images used on the home page. He/she created a logo using Yahoo and google's official logos. You can be sued for trademark infringement for that if you did not have approval or permission to use their logos. -
I don't think there's a freeware version of WS_FTP now. I used WS FTP free edition back then when it was still available, but ever since the free version is not avaliable I've switched to AceFTP. I would say WS FTP is very good and easy to use.

If you've been following the blogosphere, the latest happening is a controversy over Wordpress's alleged spamming of the search engine. WordPress (https://wordpress.org/) is a popular free open-source blogging software. Reproduced from eWeek: What do you think? Was WordPress wrong?

I've recently started putting Google Adsense ad units on my website. I've read often on the Internet that the colours and styles of your Adsense ad units can improve your click-through rate and earn you more money. Such methods include blending the colours of your ad units into your page's background. Does this work? Have any more tips to share? It's obvious that you're trying to promote your own affiliate URL and make some money. The link you provided is Spamlink removed instead of the most general URL Spamlink removed. When I licked through to the signup form, I'm referred by mohammad soleimanian / 71362238. Apparently, "If you want to earn more, just work on building your downline. It's not too hard to get 10 people to sign up and use the TickerBarâ„¢", as lifted from the website. Such schemes are really a waste of time and earns you really very little money.

Why? Is it because W3C doesn't recognise such changing of the scrollbar colours using CSS? To be frank, I don't see many professionally-designed sites using coloured scrollbars, mostly on personal webistes and blogs.

Did you use Frontpage or Dreamweaver or other HTML software to create your framed pages? If you did, it's may be easier to use your software's built-in FTP or uploading function so that everything neccessary in your framed pages are uploaded. I designed framed pages using Frontapge before, and it's publishing function was helpful.Try not to use frames though.

It's something like Friendster isn't it? I don't spend much time on such social networks and viewing other people's profiles and so on, but his myspace.com seems like a great place to interact with your friends and other communities.

After many tries and searches to get a top-level domain free, I've come to the conclusion that there just isn't any free lunches on earth and all those websites purporting to give your free top level domain names are just scams. I've come across websites that want you to perform some stuff and gain points for your domain name, but in the end they just won't.If you want a propoer .com or .net or other top level domain anmes, the only way is to pay for them.

MSN's Hotmail is losing out on its leading position in the free webmail battle. Ever since Google GMail launched, I have been expecting Yahoo! and MSN to give more storage space to our email inboxes. Yahoo was fast enough to follow up with 250mb, now 1 gb same as Gmail. Hotmail however, took a long time to upgrade all accounts to 252mb (I think), but it's available only to US users. If not for MSN messenger I'll have switched to Yahoo or GMail already.

This is dangerous. All those people trying to trick other online users out of their money are endangering the security of the Internet and harming net commerce and activities. I would hate it when they done something nasty causing people to stay of the Internet.I thihnk something should be done to protect the web from all these attacks.

If you want customised search results pages, you must be prepared to download and install those search scripts to your own server. If you want a quick and easy solution, the best is Google's free search service or Freefind.

I've a bad experience with p2p programs. I used to use Kazaa at the height of the downloading frenzy, but uninstalled it during the lawsuits and crackdown. Now I tried using Bittorrent due to the wonderful stories about it, but it doesn't work on my computer. The download speed was very slow. I tried using all the different BT clients, but still the same.I tried emule, the download speed was slow too. The I tried Limewire, and it works beautifully! Very fast DL speed, no adware or spyware.

Is the click-through rate for the new ad units better than the traditional banner and skyscraper ad units? A thing to take note, the clicktrhough rate for any new ad units would be high and better-performing than the traditional banners and ad units. In fact, banners are seen by visitors anymore in this age.

You may want to shut down GIMP and restart your computer for Windows and GIMP to know of the new fonts. Last time I downloaded fonts, I rushed to see them on GIMP but they didnt appear. I realized that I have to restart my computer first. Also, did you copy your fonts to the Fonts folder of Windows? And not another folder?

Most windows computers ship with Windows Media Player, which can rip CD tracks from your CDs. But this software converts only to wma format, so if you want the more popular mp3 format, then I guess Windows Media Player is not very useful. And I agree that Winamp is a great mp3 player.
