  1. Hi there. Welcome to the Xisto forum! I think it's really nice that you took the initiative to introduce yourself. In fact, I suggested to the Xisto staff that we start a "New Member Meet 'n Greet" forum a few days ago. If we're lucky, the admins will create that forum soon and have the posts count towards member's credits. Anyways, if I can offer you one bit of advice, it would be to read the rules and the TOS (yeah, they are a little dry, lol). Then you'll find that you have a much better chance of getting hosted sooner.
  2. Here's a couple of suggestions if you don't want to enter "computer case" into your favorite search engine:1. Visit a store that sells computer components. Take a notepad and jot down the brands, model #'s and prices. Ask if the store has a catalog (print or online).2. Visit a local computer show. You'll probably find a wealth of information there. Again, take a notepad.3. Go to a bookstore and buy a magazine such as PCWorld, Maximum PC, Computer Shopper or PC Magazine. They'll have articles and ads about computer cases.Hope that helps!
  3. The table row tag <tr> only accept the "align" and "valign" attributes. Table data cell heights can be controlled through the use of CSS (involves the "padding", "margin" and "border" properties). There are many fine CSS online tutorials. Here's a link to one of them: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp You can also enter "CSS tutorial" into your favorite search engine to find more. Hope that helps!
  4. Spamming Xisto forums with scam/spamming-type websites is prohibited. Thread closed.
  5. What you think of these? Banner 1 - 468 x 60 Banner 2 - 728 x 90 Banner 3 - 160 x 600 Banner 4 - 120 x 60 (animated gif)
  6. I currently use https://directnic.com/ as my domain registrar--only $15.00/yr. I've also heard of some cheaper ones but I have no complaints about my current domain registrar.
  7. When recommending a site like this, people are going to want to know why should they believe you? Here's some questions for you.If we Google "Green Horse Corporation", will we find that it's a legitimate site or a scam like surfjunky.com?Are you a participating client/customer of this site?If so, have you received any kind of income or benefit from this site?how do we know that Tickerbar isn't some kind of malware? How did you learn about that site?Providing details like this will improve your credibility. Otherwise the above post may be considered spam and possibly removed.
  8. Hey RP, welcome to the "Hosted World", lol. Nice to see that you're hosted now. You're not the first to be concerned with a visible username, as you can see in this fairly recent thread. I think that thread is also a good example of how responsive the Xisto staff is to its members. If you have any other concerns or issues you'd like to see addressed, please don't hesitate to let us know.
  9. From what I've read, it sounds like a VX2 infection. I understand the solution can be rather long and involved. Here's a link to a possible solution: http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=8332 A lady named blender helped one person get rid of it. They used a program called HijackThis (HJT) to help. Good luck!
  10. I voted 'other'. I use NoteTab Lite. Its freeware but there is a more feature-packed version available for $. Its worked pretty well for me. But I wish it had more pertinent features. Here's my features wantlist: ability to edit HTML, CSS and PHP numbered lines color coding tabbed files the ability to use mixed fonts in the code Does anyone know of an HTML editor that includes these features (and is freeware)?
  11. I Googled "paid moderator" (with quotation marks) and to my surprise, there were 232 results. I saw that paid moderators do exist but they're rather rare. As it turns out, running and maintaining a forum takes a lot of work and time out one's schedule. That's why forum owners need the assistance of admin assts. and moderators. IMO moderators are required if a forum owner wants to make his forum one of the best. Forums do have competition with other sites (in fact, it was mentioned that Xisto has competition that offers similar services, in another thread). Unmoderated or poorly moderated forums are not very responsive to their members needs. Problem members make questionable posts and are not held accountable. The forum's reputation suffers. This causes that forum's best current and potential members to migrate to forums with good reputations. I have seen this happen before. Forums that grow and maintain a good reputation see their membership growing constantly. This means more eyeballs looking at the forum's content and more eyeballs looking at the ads on the forum. This in turn means an opportunity to make a little money. This is part of the reason why more and more websites are having forums added to their sites. As the demand for forums go up, the demand for moderators goes up. And you know what happens when the demand for a service goes up, right?
  12. Quite right. It is fun and I do like helping people. I find my eyes are especially attracted to the words "Help", "How Do I..." and "Question About". I hope you didn't get the impression that I wanted "them" to pay me, especially since nowhere in my initial post did I state that I'm looking to be paid. In the "real world", people are employed if the employer feels an employee can help generate revenue and justify the cost of hiring that person. I don't get the impression that this forum takes in enough revenue to justify paying moderators. That this forum is offering free webhosting is more than generous IMHO. The members and staff here also contribute a wealth of knowledge that is priceless IMHO and I personally benefit from their wisdom and knowledge. Believe me, I don't plan on going anywhere. Especially since, realistically, I'm a newbie moderator.
  13. Those are great pictures! Just don't let Ben see your avatar or he might be traumatized for life.
  14. I'm currently a moderator at 2 sites, this one and a sportscard trading forum (over 7000 members, but I think only about 1000 are pretty active). At both sites, I've only became a moderator this year. Its a great learning experience in learning how to manage forums. Both have quite a bit of responsibility and require good decision-making skills. But has anyone ever heard of any forums that pay their staff anything? Just curious...
  15. Boy, can I relate, lol. It really is the greatest thing--not the easiest thing, mind you, but its really great. I have custody of my 2 kids and I really actually enjoy there company. They make me laugh so much--and they're 14 years old (daughter) and 13 years old (son). My daughter is such a comedian, a math wizard and actually understands Shakespeare (that stuff is pretty incomprehensible to me, lol). She looks like me but yet she's also beautiful, lol. I just wish I could stop the boys from calling her . My boy is also a math wizard. He's almost as tall as I am (5 ft. 10 in. tall) but his hands & feet are bigger than mine already (maybe I shouldn't have put steroids in his baby bottle, lol). If only I could get them to turn in all of their school assignments so they could keep their grades up!! Aw see, you've gotten me started babbling about my kids. lol.Anyways, enjoy the kids and take lots of pictures and video of them. It helps if you have lots of patience and it also helps if you know where to draw the line with them. Congratulations!
