Email Newsletters Email newsletter templates.
jcguy replied to dscullion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I would recommend PhpList. It's a free, open-source application built on php and mysql and is a very powerful tool for all your email newsletters need. With it, you can easily subscribe email addresses using a form, do double-opt in, send out newsletters, manage subscribers, capture demographic data, and more. I personally find it very useful. Find it at: https://www.phplist.com/ It's free and open-source. -

I wonder why Internet Explorer does not support favicons. It's such a common and widespread features for most websites these days. Firefox and Opera users see favicons on almost every websites. -
Psp Becoming A Mobile Porn Console?
jcguy replied to Tommy1405241497's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think this is something to be expected. The porn industry simply adapts itself to changing technologies and to exploit them to make even more money. It has happened to the PC, the Internet, mobile phones, PDA, and now gaming consoles. I wish there is a way to definitely filter off porn media from our devices and technologies. -
Disk Usage Not Updated Im having a problem.
jcguy replied to Nqon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've the same problem too. The disk usage on the main page of the cpanel does not update at all. It's a bit of a tiny inconvenience and I'm always afraid of exceeding the disk usage limit. Hope somebody fix this soon. Thanks in advance. -
Well, I know absolutely nothing about cracking code at all. Looking at the complicated codes, how do one even begin to try to hack the thing? And what's a hex editor?

What do you think of the Xbox 360, Microsoft's answer to Sony's Playstation 3? I read in Newsweek that it can do many other things besides playing games, like searching for and downloading music, send instant messages and emails, and so on. Look like it'll be a formidable competitor to PS3.

I want to send images and pictures on my mobile phone to my PC using my phone's infrared function, but I'm not exactly sure if my PC has infrared support. My phone has infrared support, I've downloaded and installed the file manager software from Sony Ericsson's website, but when i turn on infrared on my phone, there's no connection still. My PC is a HP Pavilion 8612 bought in 2000 (i think). I'm not sure if it has a infrared transceiver or receiver thing. I checked out Device Mangager in Control Panel, there's no infrared. Anyone has any idea if HP Pavilion 8612 has a receiver for infrared signals? Thanks in advance!

Personally, I think that the gaming experience is better if you play the games on the gaming console itself instead of on the emulater. In any case, it's likely to be easier to use the handheld controls instead of the computer keyboard to play the game. I should know, I've played Gundam Wing Endless Duel on my antique SNES.

I've nearly run out of my 150mb diskspace limit, and I'm reviewing the files on my account. I noticed that the tmp folder occupies a large portion of my disk space. Does anyone knows what the function of the tmp folder is? Is it safe to delete files in this folder to save space? The mail folder also takes up a lot space, and I believed that the mails you've "deleted" are somehow still archived in that folder. Can I delete the files in these no-to-be-touched folders to save space? Is it possible to request for an increase in disk space, say by exchanging hosting credits for disk space? If I'm willing to host ads for Xisto, can a special arrangement for more space be made? Thanks in advance.

Voip Choices Discussion about VOIP Service
jcguy replied to OneStopReefShop's topic in Science and Technology
The only experience I have with voIP is SKype, the free software which allows you to call your contacts on your computer with a broadband connection. As for the commercial voip vendors, I have no experience with them. -
I got the following error page when trying to access cpaanel and my cgi-bin: Is something wrong with my account? Should I wait for the webmasters to correct this? I need to access my cgi-bin quite urgently. Thanks in advance!

Recently, Adsense introduced a new rule asking all publishers to submit their PIN code via a form online. Apparently, Google has sent me the PIN code in a letter, However, it has been weeks and the letter has yet to arrive. I reside in Singapore. Are there also any non-US adsense publishers here who have not received their PIN code yet?

Sooner or later, RSS feeds publishers will find a way to monetize their content and make money from their RSS feeds, although I must say it is difficult to strike a balance between not intruding on readers' space and finding a way to make money.

Well, can't you just keep quiet about your earnings from adsense and not declare it as income earned? I know of a few friends who put up adsense ads on their websites and earn money without ever declaring it to the taxman. It's like a hobby kind of thing. But I'm not so sure when you're actually running an actual business and deriving revenur from Adsense. You'd bettet check out the rules in your home country.

Truely Annonymous Internet None of that Proxy rubbish
jcguy replied to qwijibow's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Why would you want to be able to surf truely anonymously on the Internet? If one isn't doing anything illegal like trying to hack into servers etc, then i think it's fine to surf not-so-anonymously. Are there reasons to surf anonymously? Privacy reasons? -
(Not the) Best Way To Make Cash So Far Seen ;) SurfJunky
jcguy replied to spacewaste1405241471's topic in Online Advertising
Have you guys heard of a new money making way on the Internet? Called Netbux? It's a company which pays you for doing your online searches using search engines like Google. Is it a scam? I've heard that Netbux users have a hard time getting their due payments.I'm more inclined to try to earn money with the big companies like Google Adsense. It's more reliable. You know that they will make payment. -
Google's Pagerank is heavily influenced by the number of highly-ranked websites linking to a particular websites, rather than the content and keywords used in that perticular websites. If you have a lot of websites, especially those with a high pagerank, then your site will naturally have a high pagerank. Trying to tweak the keyword density etc helps, but only by a little.

I personally don't mind the ads. Look, Google's providing such a wonderful and features-packed email service for free and it's fair that they find a way to monetize their free email accounts they provide and make money. In any case, the ads are targeted and not like pop-ups which are totally a waste of our time.

I would definitely recommend reliable commercial web hosts for my clients' websites. A commmercial web designer cannot afford to host his clients' websites on a free hosting account. It not only make you less credible, but also there is a danger of your client losing all their data if the free webhost collapse. I would recommend Netfirms or Yahoo! Hosting, these big providers are highly unlikely to go out of business anytime soon. Also they're definitely reliable.

Well, there is also another impressive online photo management program that may even beat Google's Hellobot - https://www.flickr.com/browser/upgrade/?continue=%2F. It has strong social commenting features, 10 mb bandwidth, unlimited storage space, and its technology is just impressive. What's more, you need not download any program or install anything, it works on most browsers.

I agree that these companies offer the same thing as skype: voIP calling via the Internet network, the sending of voice data over the Internet. However, these paid-for boradband phone companies actually give you real phones to speak into although the data is transferred the same way as Skype, whereas for Skype, you'll have to contend with your microphone.

Reciprocal linking was an effective way of improving a website's pagerank until it was abused by link farms which encouraged many sites with content of little relevance to link to each other indiscriminately. I read that Google and the other search engines have sinced switched to rewarding websites that link to sites with high-relevance content and with high PageRank. Is that true? Is reciprocal linking still effective?

Websiteowners, Fight Spam theres a new spamfighter in town
jcguy replied to marijnnn's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think the reason why spams is so prevalent on the Internet is because it's easy to make it rich by spamming people with porn products and other products using email, a tool that's essentially free to use. That's why I appluad the move by big players like Yahoo and Microsoft with their new initiatives to make it expensive for email to be used to send spam. -
I think I can live without a computer, but I cant leave without the Internet. Much of my activities in front of the computer revolve around the Internet; without the Internet, I cant check my emails, keep up to date with my discussion groups, know what's going on in the blogosphere, maintain my website, and so on.

Protect Your Site Or suffer the consiquences
jcguy replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Great post! I never knew that my site could be potentially so vulnerable to hackers. This post reminds me of another form of website "hacking", namely people simply loading the source code of your website and copying it for their own uses, to make their own websites. All the scripts you've painstakingly coded is stolen so easily by others. Also, on websites selling downloadable products such as ebooks, smart users can look at the source code and tell where the download page which should appear only after payment has been made, is found. Then they can just download the product for free.
