Hi all, I'm having a huge challenge combating those comment and referral spammers. I operate a blog on my website, it's powered by Movable Type. I've always faced the problem of comment spammers which their automated bots spamming my comments script. It's seriously wasting my space and my bandwidth. Already my mail has been flooded with those useless comments notifications and it took up some 80 mb!I looked around in the mail folder and decided not to touch anything, in case it screwed up. Is there anyway to reduce the amount of space taken up by the mail folder?I once solved the problem using .htaccess to give those bots a Forbbiden page when the comment form input contains keywords such as porn, casino and so on. However it seemed to have caused a server error problem since the admin reset the servers so I had no choice but to remove the commands.I followed what other websites are saying about using .htaccess to fight comment spam, it seems to work a bit but there's this particular spammer which cannot be caught by my .htaccess.I need advice, how so I use back the previous method of giving those bots a Forbbiden page when the comment form input contains the keywords, without causing a internal server error? What should I write in my .htaccess?Thanks for any help in advance! I'm really angry at those spammers

Hmmn... I'm wondering, if these security flaws were not made public, would potential hackers have found out about and sicovered the flaw? Do they go about engineering and looking at the source code to disocver new flaws?

I would say AVG Anti-Virus is a good and highly competent free anti-virus software. It has so many good features and is capable of defending any machine that it beats some of the non-free software out there. I'm having the same problem. cPanel sent me an email saying that I've used up 150% of my disk space and I'm quite sure that I've not exceeded my limit yet. I think it's a small problem on the server configuaration part. In any case, my hosting account's not suspended yet. So I think it's not a big problem.

Come to think of it, does the server automatically recognise index.html and use it as the homepage? Do all servers recognise index.html? And how does one go about getting the server to recognise, say, homepage.html as the homepage? thanks in advance

I agree that Windows is the best OS for newcomers and new users of computers. It's easy to use and user-friendly. I tend to think of Linux as catering to computer geeks and the really computer-savvy people, and of Mac as catering to professionals working in media and design.

I've used Microsoft Office all my life, but when I upgraded my computer some weeks ago and couldn't get an original CD of Office to install, I was forced to install OpenOffice. I would say it's a wonderful product, considering that it is open-source. Obviuosly much time and effort was spent on developing it. However, it took me some time to get used to it. In the end I installed Office and forgot about OpenOffice.

I pay about 80 US bucks for a 2.5meg broadband connection. The quality is good, but I wish the price could be cheaper. It's expensive here in Singapore because the cables are owned by a duopoly.
