  1. Hmmn... IE 7 sounds much improved. I wonder how long would it be before us general users get a copy of it via Windows Update? Regardless of the improvements IE7 may have made, I doubt that I'll switch over from my Fireforx anytime soon.
  2. I think this involves a multi-pronged approach. As the above posts mentioned, good content is a must. Even if you can't produce much good content, you can always leverage on good content produced by others. Be sure to ask for permission.Cross-linking is important. Google for related website and ask for reciprocal link.Pay if you must. I recommend Google Adwords. Cheap and effective.
  3. I think that this Javascript menu tree very cool! It will be highly useful to a big website with lots of pages and content so that visitors can find their way around. I didn't know how to do this, so I had to manually do a sitemap, a simple HTML page, on my website.
  4. For really serious corporate bloggers or websites looking to set up a professional blogs, I would recommend Movable Type. The level of customization is really deep and the amoung of useful plugins developed for the system is a lot. However, I would say that Wordpress is gaining in popularity in the blogosphere as it is getting really fuinctional and easy to use. The templates available for WP is great looking too.
  5. Well I suppose you can get past the age limit (if there is one) by listing the owner of the Adsense account as somebody whose age allows particpation, say, your father or mother. That way you can earn money via Adsense and have the money sent to your parent.
  6. I can't believe this - how can Corel be giving out a Pro version of Paintshop for free? Is almost equivalent to Adobe giving out Photoshop Pro for free! I'm going to download and try it out now.By the way, I've been to the corel.com website, there's nowhere that mentions them wanting to give out their software for free. How did you learn of that?
  7. Although I use Firefox and swear by it, I never did download Thunderbird and try it out. I'm still using Outlook Express. Is there really a strong incentive to switch over, as in the case of switching from Internet Explorer to Firefox?
  8. On a related note, I've installed some Firefox plugins and extensions. When I go to the official Mozilla plugin site to get my plugins updated to the newest version, the site asks me to have the newest version of Firefox installed first. Is there any way to get past that?
  9. Since we're in this discussion, can anyone recommend the cheapest company for registering a .com domain? I registered my domain with Godaddy, it's cheap and the service is great, but is there a no-frills site where I can get my domain name for the cheapest price with reliability?
  10. I agreed with all the posts above in praise of Gmail. I've tried out many other free email providers such as Hotmail and yahoo! Mail, and Gmail is by far the best.
  11. There are indeed many many good freeware programs out there which you can download for free. I've found an extensive list here. The freeware programs listed are really very useful! The list can be found here: The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities Some freeware programs featured include firewalls, browsers, FTP clients, etc.
  12. iPod Shuffle system helps alleviate the annoyance of arranging a new track selection every day, I don’t really believe that anyone’s music collection is so good that each random track selection will contain more than five decent songs. Fortunately for the lazier listener, recent technological advances might soon see Apple’s flash players leap forward in capacity up to a rumoured 2GB and 4GB, which means it might select anything up to, say, 10 decent tracks! Telewest's Teleport TVTelewest has been a bit slower rolling out Video on Demand (VOD) services than its rival NTL. But now it seems the Woking-based company is fighting back with the launch of a new on demand service called Teleport (wonder where they got that name from then?) Telewest viewers can access the Teleport service via their existing set-top box and remote control. Teleport Movies offers a library of 200 current and classic films from FilmFlex for between £2 and £3.50 per night. Other services include Teleport Replay (a second chance to catch programmes like EastEnders and Casualty) and Teleport Life (specialist interest programmes). smartphoneHP’s latest iPaq PDA-style phones goes on sale this week. With a design that brings to mind a certain Canadian made email device the iPaq hw6500 Mobile Messenger, sports a three inch 64k colour screen and a full Qwerty keyboard. It runs using Windows Mobile 2003 special edition phone software and features 64MB of Ram, of which 55MB is available as storage for the user. Other features include an on-board Tom Tom GPS satellite navigation system, Bluetooth and voice control facilities.
  13. China will tag all of its 163 captive pandas in an effort to better monitor the population and prevent inbreeding, Xinhua news agency has announced. According to an unnamed State Forestry Administration official: "Information about pedigree, age and other basic data will be permanently incorporated into the giant pandas by ways of molecular labeling or hypodermic implantation of sensing chips."<http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/03/24/china_tags_pandas1/ Pipe Diagnosis Obayashi Corp. developed a system for diagnosing drain pipes by running off water that contains ball-shaped RFID tags. The system can be used to check problems with pipe connections etc. «Helping visually-impaired people using RFIDAn RFID-based system for helping visually-impaired people is being tested at Aichi Expo in Nagoya, Japan. This is another experiment by the goverment and YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory. There is a movie clip with the interview of a visually-impared person who used the system. His comments are rather critical and suggest the need of other auditory information besides RFID-triggered voice messages.

  19. erm the way to earn from this is to hav a large groups of frens dedicated to make money out from netbux. but i thinknetbux wont get u muchits too small an amountif u explain it through a web base format i think 0.02 is still too small and would ones mentality to click andearn 0.80 a day? also when i click some others get the money too without clicking. this mentality in some people might be the downside of netbux. but i would still say netbux is a novel idea but the lasting of this novelty depends. may be short... may be long...............................................................................................

  24. Do you still remember the days when our free Hotmail and Yahoo mail inboxes were only a few megabytes? 2mb for hotmail and 4 mb for Yahoo! Mail? With the entry of Google's Gmail which offers 1 Gigabyte of free email storage space, the battle is set between all these free email providers. Who do you think is winning?I remembered that Yahoo! quickly followed up with 250mb soon after Gmail. I was using Hotmail, and I was conficent that MSN will also increase storage space. But they didn't and I switced to Gmail which now offers 2 gig. Hotmail has only recently gave out 250mb and it was only for US residents. Now Yahoo is giving 1 gig. MSN Hotmail is still slow.So who do you think is winning the email battle? Notice from m^e: This isn't a tutorial by any means. At least make sure your posts are heading for the right forum. Moved to Internet & Websites.
