yeah good stuff. i actually find a ton of these kind of sites, even with small quantities, but eventually it adds up to several gigs.

just use your speakers....get smaller ones that can sound good.

get flash4linux (UIRA now i think). Or else get flash mx, 8 or any of that series. Flash is very useful, make extraordinary sites and animations and other stuff. You can almost make video tutorials in flash and whatnot (using a program called Wink)

photoshop or it's free equivalent, gimp. They're essentially the same thing. I love all of the features, I can get a do a lot of photo editing which i cant with any other programs. Photo enhancement and other things can be done with a bit of practice in photoshop. The only downfall in my opinion is the steep learning curve and almost a bajillion redundant features, in which the average person will not care to use.

for your own basic webserver...just get apache, or some sort of package that has apache (Lotsa free ones on the internet). Also try taking look at abyss webserver.

as someone said before, bots are really resource hogs. They search millions of sites a day, using a lot of CPU/mem. There isnt much point to making one. Except i remember on the news a few years ago, a kid in college made a more efficient bot/server than google had for a search engine...so i think google hired him.

puffy....i have never been paid for impressions on google adsense, i dont understand you. I dont think they pay for impressions at all.

I use gmail..... chinese democracy if you want gmail i got like 300+ invites. Anyways gmail is most useful to me cuz it has a TON of space. I also have 30 gigs but it's unreliable and sometimes my emails dont get sent.

i just use the earphone/headset thing they give you when you buy a phone. that means your head isnt directly receiving radio waves. :-D Anyways, don't sweat it guuys..there are a billion radio waves flying around in the air that are already making us 200% stupider than we would normally be.

well i think i would stick with adobe reader...it's free too...and it does eveything already...so why use another program that just saves a little bit of space. 35 megs is nothing today's harddrives are tons of gigs. my favorite symphony is bigger than that. adobe acrobat takes only a second to load up. 1 full second. sure it's light for those space saving archiving freaks...but i don't want to install anymore unnecessary software

a few months ago they trashed their code and had to recode like 80% of vista (longhorn) because of a ton of errors. Flakes you are right. All-in-all.....if you guys are using windows just for vista....it's a waste of time. It's mostly neat-o graphic desktop..which you can do in linux without paying premium.

your computer is frying when you smell smoke. if it's just "overheating" then your computer will just either freeze or shut down. 66C is pretty hot. you might want to get a custom fan/heatsink that works at higher RPM and is copper. My computer is running barely 70 degree Fahrenheit. One last thing, get some airflow going through your computer case. Don't be alarmed by this, the cpu is capable of running at like 150 degrees. Just cooler=better.

I use slackware. it's very versatile while being not newb unfriendly. I don't like redhat/fedora. their updating and whatnot always screws up.

note pad is pretty much the most "flexible" editor ever. full of features. Those features are.. "Complete control".

you get something like cutenews or soemthing (Unless you want a complete CMS that has pre-layout for you) and then you upload the files via FTP. Then they should have instructions on how to install, probably some server side script. And voila it works. YOu usually have to change permissions and stuff on files too. Overall, just READ THE INSTRUCTIONS/README and it's very easy.

wordpress is pretty simple and very good. thre's also another one...can't find it but it's very flexible, but requires a lot of knowledge. so i think wordpress is good. lifetype looks pretty nice too. or you can use cutenews and integrate it with a site.

hasnt everyone played almost every mario game? I think mario party is fun for the first 10 minutes. Even with a lot of people playing...it gets fairly boring and repetitive.
