Well Xisto is too getting a little hard for me to cope i think. But most likely my permanent stay wouldn't be here. Truthfully, I'm only a high school kid wanting some webspace and all the tools a professional web designer would need to work a professional website to mess with. I've learnt plenty so far but the only places i post at are the ones in Science and Technology, some designing and basically any of the forums that don't relate to all the technical jargon and languages that i cannot understand very well as I'm lacking the proper computer education. What i want to know though, if it's possible that i could just switch everything i have onto the Xisto host/server. The only thing to be changed basically, would be the domain name and the forum i post in. Is this possible?

I don't see any reason to be pursuing such thoughts about the future. To give an example of what I'm saying here, back when i was...hmm 4th grade? I borrowed a book about the future of the Earth from the local library. It looked really cool actually and stated so many things that would happen in the future and even had a "future chronology". The latest gadget being the artificial eye (latest as in, it will happen the latest) which will "happen" in the year 2010. Don't ask me about that yet, what I'm wondering about is the section where they state that almost every house in urban/suburban United States having access to modern cities and something like that would have a house similar to this: <with a picture here depicting the many facilities and features of a futuristic house>. Of course, that didn't happen. The main thing being roof gardens that absorb solar energy to power the house AND providing a nice roof view. I don't think people favored that much.I did see something on Discovery channel where some house was SPECIFICALLY built to save energy and collect solar energy to a level that the house's mean monthly electricity bill is about 1-2 dollars. It looks foolproof i guess. But the system itself looks so complex and costly there is no way any average family can afford it. What hopes...they're all just lame imaginations from some guy who needed quick cash. I'm not saying everyone's like this. But most random "facts" about the future are just getting old.

Is Your Internet Speed Good Enough Vs. Cost ?
evion replied to Cookiemonster1405241499's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Comcast...now that's something to talk about. They're good if you're in a rural (as in less people using Comcast in your area) area and you're basically one of the only ones using Comcast because everyone goes by the same cable to the Comcast internet gateway so they all get clogged up if you have too many. I tried testmy.net before and believe it or not, I'm only running on 20% of the average Comcast cable speed. That is seriously absolutely horrible but i can't help it. The downloading speeds are fine i guess, uploading not so good. The only reason why i stay with this company is because they're price rates are way cheaper than the others around when i went searching for ISPs during that time. I was about to go with Bellsouth too but Comcast beat them by 5 dollars. -
I have the perfect solution for you Moonwitch! It's a nifty extension i got from the mozilla website. Works mm mm perfectly!! It's called IE tab and it will open tabs in FireFox using the Internet Explorer WITHIN the Firefox browser. It's the best extension I've used so far. You can get it here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The page looks different from where i downloaded my version before but it does the same thing basically. Have fun! Anyway back on topic: Same problem here. I tried almost every browser i can think of but the loading page keeps bringing me to the page where it says gmail can't load. I know that just sounds weird but you get the idea. And Gmail's been having lotso f problems these few days too if anybody noticed.

That would be a little problem for the elderly. I mean who would want to cross the street by climbing stairs and walking them down again to the other side when you could just walk to the other side? In Singapore, the major jaywalkers are the elderly. For one thing, its because they are eager to get across the street and don't want to wait for the light. I think its also because they're so used to it already. I feel really sorry for the 80+ year old woman though. I mean..getting "fined" for crossing the road to slowly is one thing. But if we look at it in a different angle - Why isn't anyone from her family or nursing home assisting her? Canada has welfare for the elderly does it not? It just goes to wonder what the Canadian government are really doing huh?

My sister's computer just got infected by some worm i guess that calls itself a process called "CCapps" the last time i saw it. When i went to the symantec website to find out more about it, i realized its a mass mailing worm which explains why my Norton anti-virus program keeps having stupid popups blocking all the mail the worm is sending out. Or at least, i think it is. The whole thing only stops when i go to task manager and end the process called ccapps but the whole process will start again a few minutes later. I tried using Ad-aware but of course it didn't work so i went to Symantec's website to find a solution. My lame solution was to disable system restore and do a full system scan with updated definitions. Now i vividly remember the days when Symantec's website used to provide small executable programs that would get rid of that specific worm itself. And Nowadays everytime i try to check up on removal instructions their all the same - disable system restore, update virus definitions, full system scan. I'm not saying its bad and all but come on, who would want to do a 2-3 hour long full system scan for a stupid virus/worm when you know what it is and you can delete it automatically with an executable program. Also, my issure of Norton has just expired and i cannot update the virus definitions. Luckily, i think system restore did the trick and removed it. Fortunately for me, the worm wasn't that of a threat and it didn't even bother with system restore at all and got erased when system restore "went back in time". I hope it doesn't appear again...

Believe it or not, we computer geeks may think this is like the coolest thing to have ever happened to man and is a great milestone to many other futuristic discoveries, but the only other problem left is that of Ethics. Like finaldesign had pointed out: We will all soon be half-machine. You might say that you're only going to get an extra 3gig "brain memory" space from the neuroshop 50 years from now but another 100 hundred years later, everyone would be talking about the latest games downloaded to the brain where they can simultaneously switch to an unconscious form of the mind and the game chip will manipulate the brain into believing that reality is the game. Sort of like a dream i guess. And 30 years after that.... Boy: "Hey wanna go 'in' with me?" Girl: "Sure, meet you at the mall?" Boy: "Got it, see ya there!" *plop* (Both of them drops down unconscious in the wireless social interacting dream world.) Yeah so maybe I'm sounding very pessimistic about this but I really am excited about all this, though I believe that Human Ethics should be put into mind when starting these types of research, just like the art of cloning. Heck, i wouldn't mind an external mp3 player plugged into the part of my brain that manages sound in the ear so i wouldn't have to bother with earphones anymore and their messiness. But i sure would not submit myself to downloading my Biology textbook into my brain instead of going to school. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, we must not take these things for granted, only if it makes like easier and enjoyable just a tad little bit.

This is...Wow...You really must be talented in this area of Herbology? I got referred to this article when you posted in the hosting support section and after reading this, i can tell you've really placed alot of effort into this. It's definitely an A++++ for my Biology report if i do this. Overall though, what I'm interested in is the part about the St. John's Wort killing off HIV. As quoted: If you would, could you elaborate more on this? How this it kill of the virus exactly? Is it just another drug just like AZT that HIV would eventually become immune to? I know it doesn't work if the virus is actually already working in the human body because it is lysogenic, meaning it will attach itself to the host cell's DNA and replicate along with it. But if it how would it kill off the HIV virus? This Wort reminds me of a previous post I've read of the Neem Tree which grows natively in India. This post is an extremely good read and i hope to hear more from you. Ev

I just installed Joomla manually and whenever i login, I'm identified as "0" even though my username is Evion. I tried creating another user to test it and it still has that "0" thing. What's wrong with it? Here are some screenshots: Before logging in: After logging in: Any help would be appreciated thanks because if this doesn't work out i may have to reinstall it again. I think it maybe something within the installation. I probably deleted the wrong file when there was that screen that said i had to delete all installation files. I deleted all the files that were "capsed" and the installation folder.

I began to start speed typing when i was around 11-12 years old. It's kinda young yeah but that's also when i started creating websites and playing MUD games. Trust me, the last thing any of you "computer geeks" (no offence) out there would never want to play it but its my true mentor in teaching me how to type fast. For the website thing, well hmm let me see, when i was 12 i joined a thinkquest competition along with a couple of friends. We were supposed to be working everytime after school and we stay back after school almost every day to work on it. Unfortunately, work wasn't really the full word for it. Whenever our mentor left its runescape time for everyone (of course, back when it was a hit). So at the very end, when we only had little time to finish the website, i unleashed my full potential and went speedy gonzalis. Whew...back then if i had worked with HTML for the site at all i would be typing like 200 wpm now but i used Dreamweaver so all i had to do was type information about cars (yeah...lame). My maximum wpm is like 130 if i know what I'm typing or whatever I'm typing is right above or beside me. My average wpm is like 90-100. And the final question: I get the most reaction from my own siblings, class, and anyone who see me type SUPERBLY fast in the Media Center of the School every morning trying to do last minute homework.
-
I don't see the "spy" point of it at all, firstly because who in the world would talk while they type? Or talk at all when using the computer except when talking to others, in which case if you're a wanted serial killer you would never use Skype or the such anyway. The only way i can see how it can be used for spying is when you send this mouse to an enemy GUILDMASTER. Yes I meant guildmaster as in games like Guild Wars or WoW that has many GvG battles that often have stuff like teamspeak for speedier response amongst the guildmembers. What I'm saying here is, everytime the guildmaster gives a command, you would know it too if you manage to edit the program so that every sound the guildmaster makes is directed to you. In the end, i still see no use for it unless you're really crazy over beating another guild?

Fortunately, the different brands and everything wasn't the problem. It was because all the wireless adapters were configured differently and i mean ABSOLUTELY different. My uncle came over and fixed all that for me though, he's a network genius. He told me one of the computers was absolutely open to anybody in the neighborhood , and the other 2 had messed up network settings. So he made them all the same and there was the other problem about connecting to the printer which wouldn't work and he told me it was because the Lexmark X7170 uses the IPX protocol after some research and he fixed that up for me. That was a few weeks ago and now I've reformatted my computer. The only thing that doesn't work is the printer again but i can always ask my uncle again. Ahh...i love my family.

100webspace.com Biggest liars in the world.
evion replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in General Discussion
Looking at their site, i can already tell it looks really lousy and almost bogus. For one thing, if you look at that quote: "I've had a hosting account with 100webspace for several months now..." and you try to go to his website - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, it leads you to a blank webpage or some "Under Construction" page. This is the one absolute LAMEST review I've ever seen. No proof or anything just text and a fake domain name. This also happened with freewebs.com actually. Back then, it was a great webhost with suitable space and bandwidth and NO-ADS. The upload speeds were really fast and there was no need to worry about ads but then they suddenly made the announcement that all non-premium users had to put a little "freebar" as they call it onto their website. Of course, it is your own free will whether to put it or not but if your site has alot of traffic and they find it without the freebar, your account will be suspended. -
Haha, thanks for the comment. I personally don't understand the nature and true meaning of sigs too. All i do is color lines and dots and make a render look nice in the background.
-
This sig is basically a sequel to my previous sig (with the ground cracking thing) but the only relation to it is that i have a knight in armor as a render . I used multiple brushes for this and plenty of filters that i cannot count with my fingers and finally messed up everything, did a simple difference clouds and ctrl-u to come up with this: Isn't it fab??!! I love it so much its my best sig ever! I've been saving up that text style for so long but i could never get a good enough sig to go with it. This is just a happy day for me as its my first accomplishment doing a custom brush based sig. Please comment on the sig thanks! All i can say about it is its a little dark but a tad brighter and it wouldn't look good at all.

There are some situations where you just can't help but boom that mp3. Say, when you're at home on your bed, you probably only need to turn on the volume up to a soft, desirable sound. If you're in a bus though, or any other public transportation, sometimes i cannot even hear the music past all that racket. So does this mean if i turn the volume all the way up i will get ear damage even though i can't hear it?
-
I agree. The dot really looks way much better than underscrolls really. I think underscrolls look just horrible while dots actually separate 2 different words apart. So far, I've never heard of anyone who actually put their "passion" after they're usernames and the dot. My aunt has a company email address and she used this format: firstname.lastname@companyname.com Which is basically what everyone else uses. Anyone that i know that is.

Vujsa told me to start a new topic in this forum but after noticing this, i just had to continue it here because it does go according to the topic name. OK first, I'm using the SMF-Mambo bridge located here. I downloaded the latest version of it and followed the instructions along with Vujsa's "same database" comment. So now i have a working SMF forum and a Mambo site on the same database. I installed the component for Mambo to accept SMF but when i went to package manager to install the mod that enables SMF to be integrated into Mambo, the testing wasn't successful because the system says so. (That is so obvious...doh!) I read that it says I'm supposed to change the permissions so that it is writable. I viewed all the permissions for the files and they are all at writable, executable and readable. Plus all of them have that 777 permission thing which is supposed to be correct. I went ahead with the installation anyway (only the last 2 files worked: querylog thing and login) and of course it didn't work. So i uninstalled it. Now I'm pretty much lost. The permissions are right, right? Will gladly take any kind of help i can get thanks!

What's The Dirt On Your Mouse ? What Is It Called ? What is that?
evion replied to szupie's topic in General Discussion
Aww...i was kinda hoping you would be like "BUSTED!!!" and well...your brother's sorry **** will be.... I just can't imagine but anyway, just a joke and seriously, your mom could be a little more harsh on your brother or something since he wasn't supposed to smoke and use the computer at the same time anyway. -
A Free Graphic Design Program That Could Equal Photoshop?
evion replied to evion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Unfortunately Abhiram, the only other person i know who uses Photoshop readily is my cousin but he owns an Apple Powerbook and his Photoshop is set up only for the Mac system, or is it? I might have to ask my school teacher for a copy of the educational version of Adobe Photoshop or something...I've just tried GIMP and like you said, its nothing like Photoshop. -
Interesting code. I've seen it before but sometimes it gets fairly annoying when everytime you walk into a page and it "rocks"? Speaking of fancy rocking of webpages, download the latest version of the Comet toolbar, (Yes i know it has spyware but just for a minute or so then scan your computer with ad-aware or something)install it and there's a set of features inside that enable you to do like so many different things to a webpage. There is one that changes the whole page into a WYSIWYG editor and you can change anything in it. I tried it with MSN's and Yahoo!'s webpage and it was fun! This also reminds me of the AOL browser where you get certain features to alter the webpage you're seeing, the one i tried was the upside-down feature which, of course tilts your page upside down and i think your cursor goes too.

That was probably what pyost was trying to say i guess and i probably didn't get it at first. To tell you the truth, through my past few years with Xisto, (ok maybe just a year) I've never seen an update or change in Xisto's main homepage of any sort at all. I wonder if it's just because Opaque thought it wasn't needed or whatsoever. This gives probably valid enough reason to say that Xisto used to use Xisto's servers before the massive shift (The small period of time when all the servers went crazy and everyone started complaining ), because well, you see Xisto has always had alot more popularity amongst the common public because you don't need to have studied all this or known all that and contributing to the forum in a professional sense much unlike Xisto. Thus, the administrator before Opaque (Alas, i forgot his name), thought it unneeded to set up another server for Xisto. But now things have changed fairly much compared to last. Have you tried what i mentioned of https://support.xisto.com/ and https://support.xisto.com/ linking to different websites not to one same website? It is 2 different websites and servers and I'm pretty confident of that. In any case, just request hosting here in the forums and I'm sure Opaque and/or the other administrators will take care of everything here for you.P.S. Mods out there, if what I'm saying isn't true, please correct me. I'm just suggesting that this happened because of some mere evidences.

A Free Graphic Design Program That Could Equal Photoshop?
evion replied to evion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Ahh...thanks for the recommendations guys but most of you probably haven't read the small print, or amybe not so small print. I would really love a FREE image editing software but I will also work with some image editing software that may cost below $100 not like Photoshop's 600 bucks. So far well, i can tell that GIMP beats all? I guess well, I'll try out GIMP and see if it works out. It seems that no one has mentioned another program besides what I've listed so I'm keeping in mind the fact that the best are only these few. Thanks again for all your help. I'll start working with GIMP from now on and if i run into any problems or some missing features that GIMP doesn't have compared to Photoshop, I'll ask you guys how to bypass that and still get the same result as Photoshop's "shortcut" filters . -
Shiv, if you navigate the site and look around. You'll see a few minute text differences in both URLS:https://support.xisto.com/, by the fact that if you go to "Create a new hosting account" in each address, you'll find the logo changed to represent its correct how do i call it... Xisto subcorp. Be it Xisto or Xisto. Though you might be tricked into thinking both URLS redirect to the same page due to the logo that says "Welcome to Xisto Hosting Account Center" all the time, it really is different so i don't think your account details in Xisto will bother with your Xisto details. Though I would recommend that you terminate your account in Xisto formally to prevent the unecessary usage of Xisto's resources.

First Blu-ray Titles In Store, May 23rd 2006! blu ray has arrived
evion replied to shiv's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Going against your speech there xboxrulz: Let's give an example such as..say...Naruto. Like all other Anime it certainly does have alot of episodes that exceed hundreds. Each high-quality episode would cost maybe 150-200mb if compressed right. At the moment, the Naruto anime series has 175 episodes. Take the average of 150 and 200 = 170. So now we multiply the episodes and the amount of space each episode takes and we get 29715mb, also equaling to approximately 30 gigabytes. As you said, each blue-ray DVD has 9gb of space? Isn't that much better than storing them in normal DVDs?
