  5. almost like a personal RSS feed? It has potential. Good work.
  6. I wouldn't say that. The biggest hurdle is cross-browser compatibility on this one. IE's failure to recognize min-height, for instance.Might need to wait for CSS 3.0 for this issue to become a possibility. Using equations to calculate positioning and height/width, etc.
  7. In this Wiki page, there is some historic information as to the study of over-population that is worthy of review. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Malthus Malthus lead the way in the field of Population Theory and is quoted yet, today. The following quotation covers an important factor in Population control: Several more recent discussions can be referenced from this Wiki link, including Limits to Growth.Another consideration is not necessarily the Control of Population, but asking "what is the Threshold of Population on the Planet Earth?" At what population level does the earth become incapable of supporting the resident population? Interesting discussions can result from this last observation.
  8. I don't have time to work with the code, but check this out: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  9. If you could post the code here, perhaps someone can see what is going wrong and fix it.Without the code, we don't stand a chance of fixing it.

  14. I don't understand why you are asking about using posts next to the house in addition to the 'ledger'.As I understand the issue, you are looking for a method to attach one side of a deck to a Wood frame wall?Simply lag bolt a 2 by 8 Horizontal Ledger to the wall and then have the Joists rest on top of the Ledger. Depending on the span/loads/etc, you might need to double up the Ledger. And definitely the ledger should be lag bolted to the framing studs, pre-drilling of course. Some jurisdictions require a 3 " bearing point for the joists. Others don't. If you need a Rim Joist on the decking, then a double Ledger would be required to carry the joist ends, too.I'll see if I can find a drawing to attach and you can see if the concept would work for you,*edit*Found a really nice set of drawings in a PDF format that should answer pretty much everything you need to know about this issue. It even calculates spans, beam sizes, post spacings, and many more details are supplied in it. Although it is written for a specific jurisdiction in the States, I'm reasonably certain that at worst, it will be a good place to start from in most parts of the world. Form_SampleDeckPlot07.pdf
  15. On the contrary to what you offer, I would suggest that these multiple Page titles would result in a penalty against your site since the Bots would find a duplication of page content. The Bots are not stupid. They will figure it out, and issue a penalty against your site for this attempt to deceive them.
  16. When you open up the ftp program, make sure that you navigate to the public_html folder before starting the uploads.Which ftp software are you using? Filezilla is good (and free), and I've also had good luck with Fireftp for Firefox2. Cuteftp, Smartftp, bunch of good ones available.

  22. Found a handy dandy Electrical cost calculator on the Interwebz... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If you know the kWh (Kilowatthour) rating of the heater, then this will calculate the cost at the rate they apparently use in the Province of Quebec here in Canada. Adjust the calculation to match your Local costs.
  23. As a Public Service, I created a small, un-scientific report of the cost of Gasoline at a few places in Canada, the USA and several other places that the Xisto members come from, Norway, England, aussieland for example, that will put the price of gasoline into perspective for you. fuel_costs_cdn_vs_usa.pdf
  24. Prices here are about 30% higher than the US, and Europe is even more expensive. About double the price per litre than here, as I understand it.Don't get your hopes too high for the price to come down at all or any time soon. I hear that we can expect another 20% increase before the end of the summer.
