Flourescent Lights Why cant they make the light warm?
jlhaslip replied to littleweseth's topic in General Discussion
Flourescent bulbs come in several different types of 'light'. Warm White and Cool White are the most readily available. And cheapest. There are 'gro-lamps' as well, which put out a different UV light for plants of all types. And there is another bulb, I forget the name, which in more like 'outdoor light'. These are about twice the price of the standard cool or warm bulbs, but worth the money in my opinion.Last house I had, I put them in the Kitchen and it totally changed the room. I will be using them in my new shop as well if I ever get it finished. -
Hosting Credit Question - Holidays Need Help/Advice about Credits
jlhaslip replied to Elegost's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hosting credits should be 'stored up' in advance of your departure. One credit equals one day of Hosting. If you plan to be away for 30 days, then post lots and save them for this period of time. You can 'bank' them as well. Also, it is reccomended to always have around 10 credits in your account at all times for the occaisional "Oops, I forgot to post" days. Or in case you get sick or whatever. -
My Ebay Find... Check out this piece of redwood...
jlhaslip replied to Cerb's topic in General Discussion
Wow, Good deal. $58US for about 7 Board foot of really nice looking wood. Less than $6 / Bd Ft.How do you cut the spalled piece out? Bandsaw the board into pieces and then cut veneers? I do woodwork, too, but not musical instruments. I am more of a general carpentry guy. -

Can you add the Image as a background to the table? Also, which browser are you using? Each browser handles these situations differently. It might help to know what browser you are building in.

Amsho, Go to cpanel > web/ftp Stats and at the top of the page you will see the date and time the stats were last updated. Beside that is a clickable text. (something like"update now"). Click that link and it will take a minute or so to update the stats. You also can run this update for the Sub-domains you have hosted, but that is on a different page of the cpanel. Don't remember exactly where, but it is there near the web stats page. The sub-domain web stats is immediately below the web stats selection on your cpanel. Css Positioning Trouble in FIREFOX yet IE displays it as i want
jlhaslip replied to Lozbo's topic in Programming
Lozbo,I had a quick peek. I'll try to spend a few minutes on it later, but was just curious about something. Why is that list of links a table? Why not a ul inside a div? And also, rather than using javscript for your rollovers, why not css a:hover's ? You might have a valid reason, but I am mostly just curious. -
moldboy, simply add the missing colour values where required, and the DTD and Meta tag as per SM up there. Pay attention to Tyssen's advise about absolute positioning. It helped me out big time last month.Seperate the fonts with commas and end with "sans-serif" .These will handle most of the errors reported in the css. Also, please be reminded that "valid" css doesn't mean it will work the way you intend. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Additional message as reported.

How I Caught A 2 Sharks While On The Beach With 3
jlhaslip replied to dr.a.sultan's topic in General Discussion
I'm sure that this method of fishing would not be 'allowed' where I live. And we don't have sharks here, anyway. Does it taste good? I've never eaten Shark. -

It includes some basic templates, but you have to have some knowledge of HTML since it creates 'flat' files only. What I mean is, you have to modify the buttons so one page points to another and add menus if you need to. Another disadvantage is it writes table based pages with embedded css, so if you want xhtml strict with linked css, you will require more html knowledge for that, but it will produce a single page web-site pretty quickly.

My School Website Bexley Grammar School
jlhaslip replied to Becca's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Becca, I agree with the gist of the comments posted above. It is a nicely laid out site. It could use some colour as suggested but keep it tame in deference to the school's conservative image.Reviewing the source code, it is a table-based site. Your challenge would be to convert it to an xhtml / css based site, using no tables for structure. Validated strict, of course. It would be quite a 'feather in your cap' if you were to do this. -
Say Hello To Windows 2000 hello windows 2000
jlhaslip replied to willywonker's topic in Operating Systems
Thanks, bureX, saves us having to hunt it down. Indeed a silly post, but Mayank has handled the user. In order to save the Mods and Admins some grief, I will be closing the topic (at least I'll try to do so as soon as I figure out how). Notice from jlhaslip: Looks like wassie got it while I was taking a phone call. Thanks wassie -
Getting An Account On Trap17 how to do with domain name?
jlhaslip replied to realthor's topic in Web Hosting Support
realthor,I don't know of any place that will supply a free domain name, but keep hunting and let us all know how you make out. The next best thing would be to apply for a Xisto.com sub-domain (which is free) and re-direct via the dot tk re-direction service. This also helps to promote Xisto's services. The Xisto subdomain is selectable on signup, I think, so apply for the free subdomain. It will be something like "yourchosenname dot Xisto dot com". (no quotes, dot = '.'). Then register at the tk re-direct service so anybody using the "realthor dot tk" address will be taken to "yourchosenname dot Xisto dot com".I've had no problems using the default sub-domain. It is just as easy to issue to others as a dot org or a dot com. There are several threads posted here on the trap about re-directs, so search away, read up, and decide. -
Wait, it gets worse...might not feel like it could right now, but soon enough, it will. If you can get over this little challenge, then you will be stronger in the future and better able to cope with life's little hiccups. All the best in your relationship(s) in the future.

Rate My Site its not finished yet
jlhaslip replied to Unregistered 015's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I like it. Nice and clean layout. Light colours. Easy to navigate in (wish I knew the language). 8.5/10 if you want a number. Took a while to load. Can you lessen the 'weight' of the pages at all? Possibly reduce the image size and density? -
Near the top of every page of the forum, there is a link labelled "my Controls, select that link.On the left hand side of the Control page, under Personal Profile, there is a link for "edit my Avatar". select that link. You can 1) - select an avatar from the stock avatars here at the trap,or2) you can link to an avatar you have stored on a web server that is identified by an "http:// (URL)", or3) you can upload an avatar from your computer. select this one to browse your hard drive. This should do it. The previous poster gave the "specs" for an acceptable avatar, so I will not repeat the specs, but there is an image scaling process that will downsize it to an acceptable size. Look on the avater editting page to ensure it is available to check the size as it comes through. (assuming you upload or hot-link)Hope this helps.

Looking good. Stick around and play with the gfx group here for some tutorials and lessons. Those guys and gals really got some good stuff going on. Check out the SOTW contests. There are usually several competitions on the regular boards here. Read back in the Graphics section. Have fun and enjoy the trap.

How Do I Install Phpbb Forum? Please list out...
jlhaslip replied to Cain's topic in Web Hosting Support
guangdian,There is nothing to download. The files are all in the fantastico at cpanel. Cain, Use the phpbb dot com support forums. Go there, select the "support" button on the top menu and search their forum for help or register and post your request for assistance. This is beyond my helping you. There is something not right about it because I have two forums here and both of them went flawlessly on install. Both are phpbb, too, so I'm lost for what to tell you. Sorry it didn't work.
