  1. As it is set up right now, you are already a member because of your membership here. If my understanding is correct, the GFX crew will be available from this Forum.
  2. And the link leads to a blank page... please post a working link or self-report the post for removal. Thanks.
  3. Robbie,Glad you could join us here at the trap. There are lots of topics and lots of members to get help from or to just meet and discuss issues. Please be sure to read the Terms of Service. Spamming is NOT allowed. In order to get the most benefits from the trap membership, post good posts, use the search box before posting new topics and obey the rules. Rules are mostly common sense. If we all apply the rules, then everyone enjoys the service here.Other than that, enjoy your stay.
  4. Good find on the Security checking link. I have seen similar programs elsewhere. Do you know if this test confirms correctly on a Mac? I am thinking it would, but can someone please confirm them for me. Thanks for the tip and have a good day, moogie.
  5. Begin by reading THIS page and resume posting to acquire credits.
  6. This works for me... simply include the http reference to pick up your live forum. This code shows the size as a percentage. It could also be in em's or px. Iframe tags are css2 and css1 reccomendations. <iframe id="" src="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; width="40%" height="40%"></iframe> Hope this helps.
  7. Ummmm, isn't a message Board different from a forum? I think of a message Board as a smll window inside a page. Like the Shoutbox would be a message board. Let us know if the forum is what you want or whether you want an ad-less "message board".Thanks.
  8. Well, somebody had to be different.Who would've thought it would be me?I voted for trapgfx in order to maintain a 'branding' approach to the trap services. Xisto dot com, dot net and now gfx. They all keep the name 'trap' up front in the presentation. I do like the catch phrase for the other name better though."Trapped in a world of gfx." Notice from jlhaslip: Edit for typos
  9. Do just like the lady says... One at a time and she prefers Norton. I don't know that there is a single program that will catch everything. The best approach is a proactive one. Secure your machine with anti-virus and a firewall. (hardware via a router and software, also)Also, consider that in case something does get in to your system, have the neccesary disks available to restore critical software and data.No system is bullet proof, but taking precautions like: only surf where you know it is safe, download only if and what you have to, do not open emails before scanning them, and only open them if you can identify the source. Insure against attacks by blocking all access that is deemed un-neccesary. There are scripts to check how secure you are. I'll post one on the forum later. As soon as I can find it. I have it somewhere, but can't place it right now.
  10. Used to run lots, when I was in High School and college. Middle and Long distances. At one time I was running 120 miles per week avg over about six months time, but that is hard on the system. (bones, knees, soft tissue) Any running since then has been pretty much recreational. Slower paced, only 3 or 4 times a week instead of twice a day. I think rejected's time of 4:54 is a good respectable time that he or she must be proud of. It is quite an accomplishment to break the 5:00 minute mark in a one mile race. Or the 12:00 minute time for a two mile.Notice that I don't post any of my times here. Wouldn't want to embarrass myself.Enjoy yourselves.
  11. I notice that there is no DTD - Document Type Declaration. Would this be what is doing the source code display in the Firefox Browsers? A sample of the DTD for HTML can be found at the w3schools website. Also, the Meta tag for the CharacterSet can be found there as well. Might be these two missing items that are messing up the display.
  12. I think you best PM an admin or wait for someone else to reply. I think the previous answer is correct. The email service is a web-based service I believe, similar to yahoo and gmail. ***Edit follows below this line *** Found this info using a search of "+mail +servers" in the search feature at the top of every page. The original link is here. Please read the whole page. It gives lots of information. Notice from jlhaslip: Editted to include info and link found after first post.
  13. Well, I like the plainness and simplicity of the design, although the red on black is tough on my old eyes. The embedded music is good. I like the tune, too. There is a pix gallery for viewing the pix on, so I'm okay with the lack of pix on the home page. Loads pretty quickly.Just curious about the name of your band. How did you come up with it? Why not some reference to there being three Joshes playing in it? Just curious.
  14. Hi and welcome to the Trap. Nice to see you helping your sister out with her site. Ideally, you will assist others on the forum as well with your Computer Science knowledge by posting some good Tutorials and assisting with their Topics. A question to you about the above quote. Our membership is International in scope. Could you explain the comment I have quoted above, please. I, for instance, do not know what 'an otaku' is. Thanks.
  15. Actually 4 is the required number. And the script which reinstates you is run hourly, so get to the 4 credits and wait for the script to run is more correct. First I have heard of this. I think the Terms of Service state that at minus 30 credits, your account is gone. Period.
  16. If I am to believe my former high school Football Coach, my IQ is 10 and a half. Same as my shoe size.
  17. My thoughts are that the private email method doesn't make the issue public, therefore, only a single member benefits. Using the forum approach, all members who read the thread get informed and are better off. Assuming they understand the Question and Answer. Also, if it is on the Forum, it becomes searchable, so others can find it when they need it. As for Departments, you will soon discover who knows what around here. If there are any doubts, look at a member's profile to see where most of their posts are made. If they post lots in a specific Topic, at least you know where their interests and possibly their expertise lies.Just my thoughts.
  18. Xrated,I'm guessing at some of this, so it might be wrong and need to be corrected by someone else.My guess is that because your account is brand new and shiny, that the awstats program hasn't been run for it yet and the error is a result of the missing information created by the initial run on your account. You might be able to go to your cpanel > web stats > awstats and near the top of the page there MAY be a clickable link worded something like " Update stats now". Perhaps if you were to run the update now, the required files would be created. Alternately, wait for the next run of awstats to be performed. Surely you haven't got close to your limits in a day and a half. Are you simply curious about the look of the report?
  19. On another thread here at the trap, Tyssen warns that the presentation of html in IE is the suspect in a lot of cases. In order to have the most widely acceptable code, he reccomends developing your site in Firefox and then inserting IE hacks. Most tutorials I have read at really good sites(ie: positioniseverything dot com, alistapart dot com) make the same point. You are trying to go the other way around and it will be more difficult to get firefox to 'mis-behave' since it is a standards compliant browser.
  20. I am told that it is a direct relationship.1 day = 1 Hosting Credit. It works that way on my account and it is a level 2 account. Same for the level 1.
  21. Hmmmmm, "good design" and "tables". With the current w3c standards, those two words rarely go together. I'm not saying tables are not good, but using them for structure is where you will run in to these problems. I have a large table "IN" a page and have no difficulties re-sizing what so ever. It is when you are using tables to "structure" your page is when you get in to trouble. So, drop the tables for structure of your page is my suggestion. It isn't as big a deal to convert as you think. Post an address for use to review your page and maybe somebody can resolve this problem without having to re-write the entire page, but nobody can help without a look at the source. Maybe someone (like me) can send you a quick div/css based page to get you started with. Point is : upload the page and post an URL here, please.

    Bonjour

disguise,Thanks for pointing out the error in my posting up there. Couple of things, though. First of all, it has been a few years since I have seen the inside of a High Scool French class. Secondly, I was almost always day dreamng when I was there. Thirdly, I spelled the phrase phoneticly and didn't do so bad, I think. And in Canada, we have 'quebecois' as well as true French, so perhaps I have been mislead into believing the language I know as French is a localised version. Now I feel better.
  23. I think standard 48 inch flouescents are 40 w per bulb and I think the 'outdoor' ones are 32 w per bulb. I'll try to remember to check at the local Hardware store and advise the details.
  24. I just googled "file upload sites" and got 575 responses. Take your pick.
  25. Once you are hosted, yes. An alternative is to contact OpaQue by PM and ask if there are other arrangements possible. Quote this topic link for him to reference.
