  1. Here at the Xisto, once you are Hosted, you can also use the Hotlink Protection in the Cpanel to do this same thing. Similar to the Tutorial, you specify the domain names which you allow to link to your Images. Nice Tutorial, though. Short and sweet.
  2. Dancing the Dance of Happiness for Opaque and the Xisto Forum members.I look forward to another successful year of membership here...
  3. The Forum credit allocation script awards more credits when you are below 20 credits and less credits for the same posting when you have a larger number of credits, so my suggestion is to maintain your account at or near the 15 to 20 credit range. This will give you about 2 weeks of "non-posting" time before you get into credit trouble and will award you more credits when you do post. It is about the best you can ask for.
  4. Awesome posting and Topic, Mich. Thanks for these guidelines. I wish that all new members take note of the suggestions here and post their introductions accordingly. And just a reminder that the more information you supply with your introduction, the more likely it is that a member will find something in common with you and the easier it will be to "connect" with others on the forum. Also, a longer introduction provides you with more credits than a quick 'My name is Bill and I like it here'. And Credits are what makes the Forum work for you.
  5. Yes. In case you need an upgrade for more storage or Bandwidth, the Xisto - Web Hosting accounts are easily and readily upgradeable.Select the one you think will do for starting off and upgrade at anytime.
  6. check the mysql version you last ran this code with and see how it compares to the version at the Xisto server.
  7. Might have to use 4.0.18 instead of 5.0 ??? You will be missing out on the OOP aspect of mysql 5.
  8. Use phpadmin from the cpanel to delete (drop) the database or to confirm that is already deleted.
  9. I will donate some credits if that would help. I always seem to have lots.Let me know when you need them and how many.
  10. Is it possible that the cache needed to be cleared? Sometimes when you make changes to a page they are not shown because the Browser uses a cached page. You still haven't mentioned which Browser you used. Opera has very strong caching, so does Firefox.
  11. If it is a Forum which you added through the fantastico subsystem on your account, go back to the same place and select the forum (ie:phpbb) and the delete option exists there. Otherwise, simply delete the folder containing the forum and then use phpadmin to delete the database. The stats for your account should then change to accurately reflect the storage on your account, but it may take a few hours before it is correct.
  12. Boozker, Are Anchor tags defined anywhere else in the css code? It may be that the other definition for the a:visited is overriding this particular specification. Also, which Browser are you using? *Edit* Had a look at your site and it might be that you have a second style tag that is in an incorrect spot in the html code. The style tag belongs at the top of the page contained within your head tags. You have one set of style tags at the top of the page and a second one where you are defining the a:visted, etc as per the original post. Most Browsers will have problems with this second set of style tags. Simply move the css for the footer anchors up to the top style tags and it will create less confusion for the Browser. Who knows, maybe it will work there? Try this code: .footer a:link {color:#FFFFFF} .footer a:visited {color:#FFFFFF} .footer a:hover {color:#FFFFFF} .footer a:active {color:#FFFFFF}
  13. Go to your cpanel and look for the Phpadmin feature. It is a database management tool for creating and modifying Mysql databases.
  14. As your account has lapsed and been suspended by the "script", you must resume posting to earns credits and then re-apply for hosting.Remember the rules as found in the Xisto readme and good luck with the new site.
  15. Have you tried to connect with Opaque to see about converting your site to a Xisto - Web Hosting site? I am pretty sure that Xisto - Web Hosting will accept Paypal, especially from a long time member such as you have been. And the Xisto - Web Hosting accounts can be upgraded as you need additional Bandwidth, I think.Good Luck with it...
  16. WOW! Awesome job. It should be required reading for all the new members and particularly newly Hosted members should get some good assistance from that Guide you have created. I highly reccomend that the Admins should Pin this topic.
  17. The rules for sig requests should be read. You do not have enough posts yet.
  18. And the Server is a Linux machine running Apache, so the chmod function for the account files and directories is available, unlike a Windows Server...
  19. As is so often the case, users must be responsible for their actions. The few irresponsible users cause problems and then Laws are enacted which apply to even the most responsible users who would never be a problem under normal circumstances, yet, even still, they have restrictions placed against them.I enjoy Firework Displays as much as the next person and have always used them responsibly, however, with the increase potential for Legal actions as a result of accidents, I am content to watch a display created by others.By the way, just like driving, don't mix Fireworks and alcohol. It can be fatal.
  20. Nice code, but since it requires use of Javascript, it won't work if a user has js disabled.
  21. The files stay on the server for 30 days only, then they get deleted if you haven't reactivated your account.Regardless, keep backup copies of your files and data in a secure place just in case *something* happens. One idea is for you to email a zip file to a friend and have them save the file for you. Then, if something happens to your machine, they have the file. Or email them to your gmail account as a zip file.
  22. To send an attachment, I think you need to send a different Header and/or Mime -type to allow for the attachment. The different Header is "multi-part", I think. Reference the php.net site from the last posting for the details and particulars. Or here is a link to a Tutorial posted over at Xisto ( a sister Forum to the Xisto ). http://forums.xisto.com/topic/90466-using-the-php-mail-function-for-images-or-attachments-cant-find-a-decent-tutorial/ I hope this will help you solve the problem.
  23. And phpbb3 is now downloadable in Beta with some pretty serious changes to the scripts. Apparently a Major Overhaul, especially in the Admin Panel.
