Like rvalkass said, it would be cool if you owned one, but I really see no point in owning owning one anyway, so now thanks, The Simpleton. I mean, with all the maintenance costs and all that, as well as the robbery robbers and criminals targeting you, is it really worth it?I'm sorry, but I'm rather "mental" here... I like things to be plain and simple and empty. This means that I think that the less stuff you have to better. Sometimes I have a a urge and I feel like throwing everything out of my incredibly messy and dirty room except for my bed (and my computer and wire, of course) because I really don't see the need of having so much.Simplicity is the path to leading a good life, I think. So why would I buy an extra car (even if it's a flying one) when I have so much stuff already?

OK, thanks... I won't bother with other stuff first. I always think too much ahead and end up losing my initial target and purpose. So thanks for keeping me on track. How do I edit the theme in the path? Also, can I like, start blogging now and then upload it onto the Xisto webserver later? Or can I only start blogging after I start the hosting? Because it will be cool if I can start blogging right now and by the time it gets online it will already have a few articles in it and that it's not empty and stuff... And can I blog and then change the theme? Or do I have to choose the theme first? How do the themes get updated? (That's all for now... Too many questions. Thanks...)

Well, I must say, your life is very much of a Drama... But first things first!!! Welcome to Xisto!!! I wouldn't want to sound commercial in a thread like this but if you are looking for free hosting at Xisto, then you should probably sign up at Xisto's Support and Billing Centre. Just press the client link and sign up there... But anyway, back on topic. One phrase from Romeo and Juliet: "The course of true love never did run smooth." - Shakespeare No wonder your friends called you two Romeo and Juliet... I really don't know why she changed her mind... but obviously she did. Why did her family hate you so much in the first place? Do you have any idea why? Can you change it? No, I suppose not. But if she has left you, if you has dumped you and forgotten you, and if she has moved on from you, you probably should on her too... No point wasting your time in daydreaming and thinking of what could have been between the two of you. MOVE ON. Get another girl that's probably better than her, or at least the same, and sooner or later you will find that there are many more girls out there, and that you will find that you have moved on from her. If she has from you, then you will from her. It has been proven that a person can have more than one potential partner for life, so she's not the only one...

So, what is the "wordpress multiuser software"? What does it do? How does it work? Where do I install it? (Sorry for all these questions... Not that I need the wordpress multiuser software now, but it's better to know and learn now and have a vague idea when it comes to me actually creating another one. Also, does it just rename the wordpress folder to "wordpress-mu"? What if I need three blogs? Does it become "wordpress-mu-mu"? Then let's say I want lots and lots of blogs... (well, hypothetically...) How am I meant to know the difference between "wordpress-mu-mu-mu-mu-mu" and "wordpress-mu-mu-mu-mu-mu-mu"? So, I install multiple MAMP servers? Won't that take a lot of time and space? And how am I meant to know which MAMP application folder is which? Also, I don't think that the other webservers work... I know Xampp and WAMP doesn't on a Mac, and I don't think there are lots of webservers out there for a beginner like me for free... OK, thanks... I'll have a look at "Performing themes". I won't be able to purchase a theme right now because I'm not allowed to use money on the internet, which is why I'm on Xisto in the first place. Let's say that I found a theme that I like. How do I get around to applying it on my webserver-hosted blog and how do I edit and modify it?

Can Someone Suggest Me A Good Wordpress Theme?
Nameless_ replied to The Simpleton's topic in General Discussion
NICE.... that was what I just asked previously on my other thread... you know, the WAMP not Xampp one the somehow turned into a thread about MAMP installation?Yeah... I'm currently looking for a good theme too... one that gets updated often and has something to do with stacking papers, preferably NEWSpapers, because it is a news blog about interesting news that I find daily. If possibly, the catagories are on the top of the posting thing or next to the posting thing like those sticky tabs that people stick on to remind them on what page they are, or in boxes at the bottom of the page, so people can look at interesting news in a specific category, like crime, or research or global or environmental and such...Well, I know what I want... I might draw a sketch out and upload it for all to have a look... -
Oh my god mahesh2k, you're the best! Now both the webserver AND wordpress worked on my computer. The downside to this is that I can't find a way to rename the "wordpress" folder in the "htsdoc" folder in the MAMP application folder to something else, so that means that I don't think I'll be able to get two blogs running at the same time, because they'll both have the same name and it won't work, because when you go to LOCALHOST:8888/wordpress/wp-login.php ,you can't log in unless the folder itself is named wordpress... So for example: When I changed the folder name to "Newstacks", LOCALHOST:8888/newstacks/wp-login.php worked, but I couldn't log in because once I do, it will automatically go to LOCALHOST:8888/wordpress/wp-login.php in which it wouldn't work, of course, because no such folder exists, now that I've changed it's name... Any help on that? Also, I'm looking for a good wordpress theme, or maybe even make one myself. I want it to be paper themed, and layered (like, lots and lots of layers of paper), because it's about "stacking" interesting newspaper articles. Any help on that? Are there any good theme recommendations? Or if you suggest creating a theme myself, can you explain to me how to create a theme and what I need in order to do so? I've got like, a whole week before camp to get it ready and done with, so I've got a whole week's time to figure it out. Apparently you have to change themes often to get in time with the latest wordpress version, so I don't know who will update the template themes, and if you have to update them yourself by dabbling with the template's code, it would be better to create the template yourself, and I've already got my own ideas of what my template will look like should I really ever do the template myself. Thanks.

Yeah, maybe it's just me... But I still think that nothing good will come out of it but maybe improving your Japanese language skills... that is, if you learn the Japanese language at school or something or somewhere like that. I do... but still... there's too much work in life for me to sit down and watch some random Japanese cartoons.... but I can see that I'm the loner here.

Looks great!!! I actually like it.Did you actually really did the robot thing yourself? IF that is the case, that will be like, SO COOL!!!

To refrain from creating a new thread and spamming the forums I am going to reply to my own post: No worries, got "Coda" sorted out. Turns out that you have to pay $99 for it, but you can just easily do everything with the free default "TextEdit" on Mac. Aptana turned out to be a total failure because even when I got the wp-config.php file onto Aptana you couldn't edit the files... The problem now is that now that I've followed all the instructions, when I went to LOCALHOST:8888/newstacks/wp-admin/install.php This came up: 404 not found (the title of the tab) And this on the browser screen: Not Found The requested URL /newstacks/ was not found on this server. Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) PHP/5.2.10 DAV/2 Server at localhost Port 8888 I really don't know why it's doing that. Turns out that I'm not the only one though... a few people on the web says that they have this problem too... but I followed all the instructions, did everything like, ten times and it's still not working. I even re-downloaded the wordpress.org application and tried everything again and it's still not working. Any help? (Everything else is working nicely, I created a few databases and deleted them again just to try and make everything work but nothing's working at the moment...)

Oohh.... thanks mahesh2k... worked like a charm. Thank you so much... well, it worked like a charm until the "Coda" bit... do you have any idea what the application "Coda" is that the man used in the video? (It is the Youtube video by the way... it's a good thing you found him after he registered like, a couple of days ago.) Everything worked fine until he used the "Coda" application to test things out. Well, I tried searching for this "Coda" on my computer but it came out with zero results, so I'm assuming that he downloaded it off the internet. Does anyone know that this "Coda" application is for and how and where to download it? Thanks... But it worked, mahesh2k, MAMP worked perfectly fine. Thanks for everything!!!

Same here, Spudd... but I don't really care whether that hack my account or not... well, I do, but there is literally like, nothing on my email account, so it doesn't really matter, I suppose. Apart from my password and usernames, that's all there is to my email account, and of course, random emails that I send and receive from my friends... And Gmail is cool... I use it too! I trust Google, though I don't like the fact that they revealed who an used-to-be anonymous blogger really was. Turns out to be a celebrity star "talking bad" about her fellow colleagues. (sorry, I don't swear)

The problem is, I could get into /Applications/xampp/xamppfiles/ But inside the "xamppfiles" folder, there are only more folders one terminal icon thing that doesn't open, and a powerpoint thing that doesn't open either. The powerpoint thing ends in a .pot file. These are the files listed from top to bottom: bin, cgi-bin, doc, error, etc, htsdocs, icons, lib, libexec, licenses, logs, modules, phpadmin, sbin, share, sql-bench, temp, var, xampp (terminal looking icon), xampp.pot (the powerpoint that doesn't open). So there is no "mampp start". A quick search for the term "mampp" come up with zero results, so it's not there at all. I think I need to put the code in the Terminal, but I can't because the computer can't find the tar.gz file, because my file isn't in a tar.gz format.

Ooh... thanks. That did help. Yeah, but for a news blog (I'm doing a blog on interesting news first, and then maybe on psychic phenomena...), I will have to post at least once every day, if not more... because it's news, you know? But posting once every second day should be alright... I think... as long as the readers don't think they're behind the times. But then, if they really wanted news, they would've subscribe to an actual news website, not just a blog on interesting news, right? What do you guys think if you were my readers? Would you want a RSS feed from me mutiple times a day, once a day, or once every two days? Or once a week? I don't know, it's up to you guys to choose, because I write for my readers, not for myself, and I don't know what they want. Also, now it's just the downloading of the web server (Xampp in this case) that's taking so long... I need to untangle everything out.
-
Sorry for double posting... I'll keep this as short as possible... Well, all the Mac tutorials all say that the downloaded xampp should have a tar.gz end extension, but however, I think that this is the problem, whenever I download xampp there is no such thing... When I download Xampp, the XAMPP Mac OS X 1.7.2a Universal Binary version, I get this: xampp-macosx-1.7.2a.dmg where I'm meant to get something with a tar.gz ending... And when I press the application, this opens... XAMPP for Mac OS X 1.7.2a And when I press that, I get a new window saying "Drag to install", with a picture of a Xampp folder and an arrow next to it pointing to the Mac Applications folder, and it allows me to drag the Xampp folder to the Appications folder. And when I did that, the Xampp file is then installed onto the computer, but the LOCALHOST doesn't work at all... And following THIS TUTORIAL that mahesh2k gave me... I can't see any tar.gz file at all, and the General Box IS unchecked... Any help guys?

It's alright I guess... though you might want to add some more depth in your sigs, as a plain picture isn't really enough to make a good signature. Also, you might want to move your name (-Sky-) down a little, because it isn't very visible, and I nearly didn't see it, only the "Why so serious?" bit, and I do believe that you would rather have people noticing and looking at your name than the phrase...And I think that you have squished the image a little. Cutting bits of the real-sized image out won't hurt anyone. I promise you. It's better to put a portion of the actual image in a signature than squishing the image onto the canvas and distorting the whole entire picture. It wrecks everything... But it's pretty good, I guess. I like the way you have put "stroke" around the words, though I think it would be better to keep the opacity of the stroke at 100% for your name...Wait... it is stroke, isn't it?

No... it's not the installing of Wordpress that is the problem... I've got that done. It's just that I need to install Wordpress on a Webserver, preferably on Xampp, because I couldn't download WAMP on my Mac computer.I've got both Xampp and Wordpress... I just need to learn how to put the two together...And mahesh2k, I haven't exactly read your tutorials that you have given me yet, so I'll take a look at that as well... thanks for the tutorials!

Yeah, I tried the LOCALHOST.xampp.splash.php thing... it didn't really work. I found the .htsdocs folder, but how do you install wordpress into it? I've downloaded the Wordpress file too, so I've got all the materials that I need, I just need to know how to use it, and what to do with it. Whenever I open ANY .php file in the Xampp folder, it always open Aptana Studio for some reason, and it doesn't even open the file. The Aptana Studio only opens and asks me if I want to create a new project. So I just close it. And it gets annoying when I have to do that everytime I press on a .php file to see what it is and stuff. I'm scared to moving any file anywhere on my computer incase something happens and the webserver can't find my files, so the only thing I've done is to try and open the files... The Xampp installation is on my desktop, the Xampp application in my Mac application folder, and the Wordpress file is also on my Desktop. So do I just drag Wordpress into the Xampp folder?

Well, I really don't know... where I am though, if you watch anime, you are considered "fob" (also stands for "fresh off the boat"), and that is a very degrading statement unless you were a proud "fob" wide and openly proud of being obsessed with anime. BUT if that is the case, then you will have to totally submerge yourself into Japanese culture. And when I say totally submerge yourself into Japanese culture, I mean TOTALLY submerge yourself into Japanese culture. That is, know their pop singers, buy lots and lots and lots of posters of them, most of them for like, ten dollars per A4 size piece of paper, drool all over the paper, hug the piece of paper, sleep with it, look at it twenty four -seven, and when you watch anime, you literally hug the screen and kiss and slobber all over the screen when your favourite character or pop singer comes up on stage... EURGH!!! Sorry, no. I am so against it... you'll know why if you are where I am...

Hi people...Does anyone by any chance know how to install WAMP? Because all I found for WAMP when I downloaded it was a .exe document, technically a WampServer2.01.exe file that doesn't do anything when clicked. My computer said that it couldn't find an application to open it. Is it because it is not made for a Mac computer?Well, I have downloaded Xampp for my Wordpress blog and it installed fine, I think. Because it has a hard drive thing that came out and said "Drag to Install" window and all I had to do was to drag and install... But then I didn't know what to do next, because I don't think anyone here on this forum has used Xampp before. So following Puneye's advice, I downloaded WAMP for Wordpress, but I couldn't even install it...Any help guys?(Or if you know how to use Wordpress on Xampp (on a Mac), that'd be great too...)Thanks guys, I was doing my best to make this thread as short as possible, and I found out that long posts tend to drive readers and repliers away...)

Oh... well, I would've just write "Oh..." until I read buxgoddess thread and got reminded that I'm not meant to only right one line posts, and I have to make it at least two lines if I got past the warning bell... Yeah well, I think that bringing up old threads are rather unnecessary and annoying, and you would be better off starting a new topic, though I really don't know why you would get warned if you started a new thread to chat about stuff... But anyway... no FREE freelancer for a Xisto noobie member that knows nothing at all about web programming? I'm sad...

No, when you sign in, refresh the page... Just refresh the page when you come up with the purple blank screen and it will work. However, Lockerz is now currently down for maintainence right now, so you won't be able to do anything about it just right yet...

Yeah... welcome, Boosie. I see that you have already asked for a free hosting plan on this forums in your second post... unfortunately, things don't work that way, and we have already changed our system. We now work on a myCENTS system, where you earn money by posting here in the forums. So it's a post to host system, and you might have already noticed the red myCENTS each under our names... This is how much we have earned, and every 100 myCENTS gets converted into real US dollars (one US dollar for 100 myCENTS) and it gets transferred the the hosting company. "Now, how does this all work?" you might ask. "How do I get the myCENTS under my name? I can't see any read letters or words or numbers!!!" I would like to point out that you have to sign up at Xisto's Support and Billing Centre (here) to get yourself registered for this program. Sign up with the same email address as you did with this forums, and then post at least five posts in order to see the myCENTS... because if you don't, then it won't show up... like what happened to me when I signed up posting four long posts, got fed up of waiting and nearly gave up! Just wait after a while after you post the five required posts, and then start earning and enjoy your free hosting!!!
