  1. I never could get into Warcraft 3 all that much i actually preferred the 2D in Warcraft2. It seemed to have more atmosphere than Warcraft 3. After saying that i have played Warcraft 3 and the frozen throne expansion which i thought were OK.
  2. AOE 1 would have to one of my fondest games. In high school i set myself the challenge of finishing it as quickly as possible. So i would come home from school and allow 3 hours for it. It took me 3 weeks which probably isn't extraordinary but i appreciated the challenge nonetheless.
  3. Yeah, it definitely counts as hardcore fun. Music is great, graphics nice, ideas and humor are good.
  4. Yes will do soon, i haven't been checking memory usage but if were have a guess, it would be a problem there. Ill also mention about the bitmap output issue, as after these problems are fixed - things would be sunshine again.
  5. Although i haven't experienced your dilemma and the cause remains vague to me, the first thing i would do is download Kaspersky trial as it is very thorough. A prior warning before installing - if you have ever had AVG installed i believe you will have to delete registry values left over from an AVG uninstall. Kaspersky will continue to refuse installation until this is properly completed. I would also install spybot if you haven't already and another malware program such as malwarebytes. From there scan everything (including your backup). Do a fresh copy on the server. If problems persist then it would perhaps be wise to contact Xisto/Xisto if you haven't already. Sorry that's all i can offer.
  6. Unfortunately i cant provide the .svg files as they are needed for a project. But i can say that they weren't huge files (there's a few clipping masks though). I reckon judging by its lack of complexity i could crash it with any opened file with a little more than 10 shapes. Inkscape is version 0.46 on windows XP. I have a IBM r50 thinkpad, 1.7 GHZ, Radeon 7500, 1 gig ram, but i have had no problems with the gimp or any other programs that have been installed.I've been producing logo's and design's for which i save regularly about every 15 minutes (which I'm thankful for). Usually it will crash when I'm tweaking curves and focusing on details. Usually I'll advocate open source stuff but i don't like this one, i had hopes it would turn out to be good. Ill have to buy illustrator unfortunately i think. As for the results of my saved bitmaps, the results i had would not be suitable for any kind of commercial application. But anyway after hearing rvalkass's experience with Inkscape, perhaps people could try it to see which way it goes for them.
  7. Regarding the site posted by cyber_electrons Post 143. I'm a little surprised by an exhibition design company having such a poor animation as that. The website design well..... lets just say that company seems to be very no frills about themselves.
  8. I reckon you'd do better if you added a few pictures to your site, the information is displayed well.
  9. Personally i would have gone for the "beating the snakes" option as its much more gratifying..... Just kidding.
  10. Some of these symptoms are actually associated with OCD, on the onset of these problems has anyone found you were in a highly stressed or tired period in your life? By doing an action like the ones mentioned in the above posts (even just once), it may cause guilt, shame or embarrassment for a person. So they intensely focus on trying to suppress the action which cruelly can have the opposite effect and repeat itself, its weird logic but too true. Eventually, if you repeat through this cycle too much you develop obsessive compulsive symptoms and the only solution is to stop suppressing to get over it!
  11. For anyone who hasn't used Inkscape before i dont recommend you use it. I've used it for a few small tasks lately and it hasn't proved to be reliable at all for me. It has a tendency to crash after about half an hour to an hour of operation, especially if there are two many shapes on the screen at once. The way it handles antialiasing for shapes could be better and exporting to bitmap is low resolution (its a little fuzzy).
  12. I'm currently reading "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe which is not bad. Good for the Vocabulary.
  13. My favorite books are from the series "A song of ice and fire" by George R.R. Martin, fantastic author - really brings you in touch with the characters.
  14. Has anyone played world of goo? Its a 2D puzzle game where you build structures of linked goo balls to fulfill the overall objective of getting the goo balls to an exit pipe. You create bridges, towers, etc while avoiding hazardous obstacles which could kill a few of your finite number of goo'ees if you do not plan correctly. It was created with emphasis on graphic design and game physics. It involves strategic play that kids may benefit from, but most of all it is good fun for everyone.
  15. Welcome tom! You'll find us a friendly bunch on Xisto. I used to play guitar a fair bit as a hobby, but not so much lately. I used to play a few classical songs and a style that had a 'heavy latin slash metal' feel. It got to the stage where I was about to perform in conjunction with a group of bands in a small concert of about 1000 people. But backed off because i would have performed it as a solo instrumental onstage.
  16. Although very practical and all the good points associated with it, it does look gumby. Imagine stopping at the lights with a thumping track in that? That would be a laugh.
  17. Yeah eclipse is really useful, i haven't used Netbeans much yet but it looks like it could be just as good.
  18. You've got a good point there, even JavaScript with HTML, XML would be an improvement. To classify JavaScript with Java is odd.
  19. Personally my favorite linux disto would be Wobbly NOP. This distro is a modified version of the lightweight puppy Linux OS. Wobbly NOP is a little bit less than 130 meg and features the compiz fusion 3D window manager. There's a few bugs though, sometimes you may find your self clicking on menu icons that wont respond until after a few clicks. Also updating the OS can present difficulties, although the way it handles packages is a no brainer - you may find it installs redundant packages which are not supported anymore, such as anti virus software (at least this was the case for me). Installation, you have the option of installing it as a file on an existing partition with windows (kind of similar to Ubuntu although not installable from within windows). There are some options you need to be careful about during installation, I think for me i made sure i wrote a new MBR. After installation you will be presented with the OS on its first load. At some point you have to select how the grub boot loader is installed, read relevant documentation before selecting an option here. If Wobbly NOP has been installed alongside windows, it is really important in this stage to modify a file that provides certain settings in GRUB. I had to have a few goes at figuring out what was going on because no documentation "emphasized" this important step from what i could see. Click filesystem-mnt-home-boot-grub. Modify menu.lst to correctly point to WNOP, i believe i either added or correctly edited this entry, again look up the documentation to be sure. If you dont do the previous step, than on restart Grub will load but will "only" correctly load windows, there will probably be a menu item for wobbly but it will load blank. Here is a link to it - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Please take care during installation and please don't hold me responsible if things wrong!
  20. Hi all, letting you know ill be posting some alternative designs based from kimochitim's logo on the TFU site. Feel free to express feedback on the matter if you wish. Its currently only in jpg and Inkscape's .svg format, but ill soon figure how to get it into adobe illustrator 9, as Inkscape is proving to be poo......., Thanks.
  21. Nice work Kimochitim, i particularly like the contrast between negative and positive space of the graphic. Just a quick point if i may, i wouldn't mind seeing a variation where the font is black, sized a couple/few points higher and a sans serif font. For example - The Freelancers Union or The Freelancers Union But its all good either way, i'll hide back in my hole now.
  22. I live in South Australia, down the street is a RAAF defense base, about 400 meters....
  23. I don't mind a bit of absolut vodka sometimes it seems to go down very easy for me (really). Although I really drink that often and when i do, its not much anyhow. Johny Walker hits my stomach and head like an atomic bomb for some reason. Jim beam is ok, but i prefer Jack Daniels
  24. LOL, m8 i wouldn't promote the ideals of National socialism to loudly, even in these times. I wonder how many eyebrows were raised by reading the last post.
  25. I'm not sure why people always try these sketchy money making sites.... All the stories you here where people find 1 or 2 sites that payout, but get ripped off by the rest. To me they have the same sort of stigma as pyramid schemes. If i followed anyone's advice it would be logan1's, ebay is the best bet. For instance buying cheap computers, pull them apart and rebuild better ones. Learn to buy cheap, sell for more.
