This would obviously be a very expensive form of advertising, and you wouldn't be able to see it on a cloudy day...Only the richest companies would be able to afford it, and of course, if the advertising works they would gain a monopoly so all small businesses who couldn't advertise like this would go bust.

You have put at the bottom of the page that the site is best viewed in Firefox at 1280x1024. If this is true, why is the site only filling about 50% of the screen under those conditions? It just looks too squashed. I also agree that there should be a banner or at least a title of some sort. Another quick point: The table borders show up in IE, but not in FF. Are they meant to be displayed or not?

What're You Listening To Now? Whats playin?
rvalkass replied to PLAYWITHGUNS's topic in General Discussion
I'm listening to some random stuff by Weird Al Yankovic, Amateur Transplants, Queen and Fountains Of Wayne. Yes, its a random mixture but I like them and couldn't choose, so I picked them all -
The font just doesn't look right on the first one. I like the last one, how long did that take to make?

Rate My Site (snlildude87)! ...tell me everything
rvalkass replied to snlildude87's topic in Websites and Web Designing
The best way to keep visitors is to update the site regularly and have something that will encourage them to return, for example a high scores list for some of the games or a forum. The layout is simple, but it loads quickly and is easy to understand. -
I have XP at the moment and I have had the error reporting system disabled since I got my PC due to security scares. If this information about the error reporting on Longhorn manages to spread far enough then it may prove to be the downfall of Microsoft, spending billions developing an OS no-one will buy. Why would Microsoft need that information anyway? What are they going to do with the password to your email account? I never trusted Microsoft and this is the final nail in the coffin. Definitely Linux for my next PC.

Like boyCradle, I am against human cloning as it just seems morally incorrect. However, if the child is born I would wish it the most normal life possible, with no health or mental problems that may be caused due to cloning. It would, on the other hand, be interesting to see if the child grew up liking the same things and having the same personality as the man who provided the cells.

This is just my opinion, but I think either a pixelated font or one like you see on a calculator would look good, although it may be a little hard to read. Nice template overall though.

I agree that the design is a little bland, try adding some images, for example to the navigation menu. Just an idea. I like the colour scheme, but perhaps add an option to select a colour scheme as it may not be to everyones taste, as a black background can be a little annoying at times.

I use FireFox and a browser developed by a friend at the moment and I am happy using them. I have Windows XP Home SP1 and have refused to download SP2 as I have only heard tales of faliure and problems. The main extra feature of the security centre is useless to me as I already have numerous AV and firewall software. Also it supposedly wreaks havok with Norton, which I have installed. Does anyone know any more about this problem?

Interested In Making Your Own Games learn to make games free
rvalkass replied to robzar's topic in Computer Gaming
I have used GameMaker 5 before and found it, although relatively simple, a little tedious and repetitive. I also think it is quite limited in its capabilities. Thanks for the link, I hope to have a go at some of the stuff at some point. -
I also prefer the first one, but great work if you did that just using Paint!

Very nice work. I don't particularly like the mustard coloured border around the Pokemon, perhaps experiment with some shadows. I also agree with lordofthesabbath that some of the fonts and colours don't go together quite as well as they could, but otherwise very good. I look forward to seeing some more of your work.

Php News Script how to make news script that uses MySQL writen in PHP
rvalkass replied to Corey's topic in Programming
The mail limit sets a number of emails that can be sent per time period, usually something like one every 30 seconds. I think it would be possible to send one email to lots of addresses, therefore it would only appear as one email to the server. If the addresses are listed as one BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) the same email will be sent to a set of addresses without them each knowing eachothers address. <?php//Your email address$serveremail = 'YourEmail@server.com';//List of recipients$bcc = 'address1@email.org' . ', ';$bcc .= 'address2@email.net' . ', ';$bcc .= 'address3@email.co.uk'; //The last address does not need a comma$subject = 'Update';$message = '//The message goes here//This would be the script to call the latest news';//List of headers so it can be read by many mail systems$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";// Headers containing email addresses$headers .= 'To: PutYourEmailAddressHere' "\r\n"; //This will send a copy to yourself so you know it has been sent$headers .= 'From: PutYourEmailAddressHereAgain' . "\r\n";$headers .= 'Bcc:' . $bcc . "\r\n";mail($serveremail, $subject, $message, $headers);?> Again, I haven't done any PHP coding for a while, so feel free to correct it and give any comments. I also don't have hosting at the moment so I can't test it. The search could use if statements according to check boxes being selected or not to search certain fields, but I don't know how to get the AND, OR etc operators to work. Sorry. -
Php News Script how to make news script that uses MySQL writen in PHP
rvalkass replied to Corey's topic in Programming
As the mail() function sends emails from an address you specify I belive you would be limited to the servers limits. I belive that PHPList also uses the mail function so would have the same problems. I think a mySQL query soemthing like the one below would allow for a search funtion: mysql_query("SELECT title, content FROM news WHERE title='$search' "); This would get all news entries where the title is equal to the search term. The variable $search would be a text box containing the search term. I may have got this code wrong, so please correct me. I am also unsure of whether the term has to exactly match that in the database, or just contain it. Everyone, please feel free to correct me or change this code. Thanks. -
I would suggest Netgear as they are very reliable and easy to set up and maintain. I have only had good experience with them. I can't suggest a specific one as I don't know the exact circumstances, but have a look anyway.

My current camera is rubbish. It has a 1" LCD screen, no flash, no zoom and it takes photos at the fantastic quality of 1MP! I am hoping to upgrade to the Kodak LS753 as it is supposedly very quick and its is 5MP! Anyone used it and is it any good?

Actually in WIndows Media Player if you click View, then Skinned Mode there is a wide selection of skins there.

They are a great concept but there are some problems: * Everyone would have to take a new driving/pilot test * They are unlikely to get the same MPG as a conventional car * A collision in the air would be even more catastrophic than one on the roads * The police would also need a fleet of flying cars to patrol the skies * From the governments opinion: "Where can we put speed cameras in the sky??? And what about the congestion charge???"
-
That would be a neat idea, but obviously very expensive. You would need a robot or something that was able to make lunch first. Oh, and some activist group somewhere would complain that it was being lazy and making people obese. ANyway, it would be a good idea, unless you lost the remote. If it costs about ?20 just for a replacement remote for a TV, how much would it cost for one that controls a whole house?

I am using Windows Media Player v10 as it is easy to use and works well. I also like the feature of it minimising into the system tray, yet still allowing you to use the main controls. It can be slow to load sometimes for some reason, btu I still find it works and I can't be bothered to download a program to replace a similar one that works just as well.

My ideal phone would have the following features:> A large screen, as they are far too small for any detail at the moment> Ability to call your PC and retrieve documents to be sent via a message attachment, e.g you could retrieve some photos to show to someone> Easy to use ringtone creator> System to design backgrounds and screen savers> Some form of decent diary and alerts system> Wi-Fi to connect to the net for free :rolleyes:Hopefully they are all possible and might be available soon, I hope
