Hi, I downloaded a rar archive which had "***********http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; as the filename. I've put up * because my post could be thrashed otherwise Anyways, I needed those and I couldn't find it anywhere so I had to download it. now the problem is the archive is locked. So I thought may be OST-Planet.net could be a site and If i register there I could find the password. BUT its not a domain. Can someone suggest what should I do ? Any ideas what the password could be ? P.S. Don't suggest a brute-force attack because I don't know the password length.

I had a similar problem with Norton and found a removal tool (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). You can may be ask for support guys to help you out.There are many unofficial uninstallers available in the market may be you can try using one of those. the Last option, would be to manually remove all the files and remove all the registry entries.I won't suggest that but if all else fails , that option works

many of my Icons used to disappear for no good reason. I don't know the cause till date. I think Something is seriously wrong with Win XP :)Anyways, I used to kill my explorer and then manually restart it. That always works.CTRL + ALT +DEL find ALL Explorer.exe and kill them (END) . then from file select new task (Run..) and type explorer.exethat should fix it.This problem isn't there with Win XP x64Hope this helps

Hmm.. If Ubuntu is freezing, I can pretty much say that your hdd is having problems. Try getting it replaced if you can Windows CAN ignore hardware erros but Linux never ignores them

I like the name 'mouse' .. Imagine after 20 yrs your parents decide to change your name :)How cool would that be ? and then .. I don't think mice have evolved too much, they have still the basic configuration ( 2-3 buttons and a generally a cord)

Hmm.. I'll suggest you try formating using a Linux distro like UbuntuIf its a hardware problem , Ubuntu will fail as well, Otherwise Your drive will be formattedSometimes, The XP cd version of formatter is not so reliable. where did you find this new version of XP Plus, It takes a lot of time doing the formatting, while Ubuntu only takes 30-40 seconds.I just put up a 1 TB drive and Ubuntu formatted it in seconds, Windows was showing hours just to format a 200 GB :)Hope this helps

I'll suggest you make sure it has a dedicated graphics card and atleast 3 GB of RAM. That ways you have a certain upgrade options open

Did you notice that its slightly slower than previous version 9.04.I had configured my Ubuntu for almost everything and then I thought why not upgrade it. Couldn't get my hands on an upgrade CD so I did a fresh install. The new GRUB loader is nice but i think its slower than the previous one.Also, I didn't like Empathy. Pidgin was good, a lot faster.Its a lot cleaner in terms of installation but I keep getting a feel that something is missing. Administrative tools look a little less in number.

Hey .:Piper_2051:. , While you are at it, Try getting a copy of Sabayon 5. I've used a lot of Linux distros and although I am not very good at it but I certainly know how difficult at times it can be while configuring an OS. I am currently working on Ubuntu 9.10 but I think 9.04 was better. Dont know why but I keep getting that feeling. Anyways, as for Sabayon. It comes with very helpful tools out of the box. and Supports a lot more cooler effects like Ubuntu. Only in Ubuntu you have to enable them but in Sabayon it comes by default (atleast in my DVD they were by default turned on). One more good thing about sabayon was, when I booted into it, It automatically detected my Graphics card. I believe you are also having an Nvidia card on your system. In ubuntu you have to enable the drivers, they are not enabled by default. also , The DVD I have has both KDE and GNOME. Ubuntu runs only GNOME by default :DIf you are switching from Vista, I'll say you should Try KDE version of a Linux -- Its cooler :(While setting up any linux, Make sure to partition your drive in such a way that it has atleast one are as a swap and one as root file system and don't mess this up, Since if you set the boot flag wrong you might end up loosing all your data.Other linux distros which are also easy to set up :- 1. Kubuntu (KDE version of Ubuntu)2. OpenSUSE3. Fedora4. Mint

according to MPEG standards after MPEG-4, MPEG-7 was released. MP5 is nothing as far as I know.As shadowx said- its just mp3/mp4 player with mp5 printed on it. May be they are giving more features to they increased the number print on their hardware definitely chinese thoughI read an article somewhere about MP5 players where they talked about incorporating DV-camera and supporting more memory through MMC. but then if someone is looking for buying a PMP , why would he think about buying cheap stuff like this. COWON , Creative, etc. make good players already.

My CMOS battery isn't dying for sure.I am using an ASUS motherboard and theres a lot of configuration stored within the BIOS. If my battery fails even once. It'll ask me to reconfigure it for sure. and Since it hasn't asked me to reconfigure , I figure my battery is alright. Now I noticed one more thing. When I boot into Ubuntu after restarting from Windows. Ubuntu displays incorrect time. And If I am not connected to internet. It keeps displaying incorrect time. Looks like both the OS have time issues. I'll probably stick a hand watch on my monitor that'll save me some time

@shadowx - I know how to update time manually@truefusion - Is it due to Linux ? I mean I have Ubuntu 9.10 now. And its still showing incorrect time. Its not always but at random after I restart. Though the time in BIOS is not affected. Can you pls ask your friend how he fixed it. I am not using GRUB to load Ubuntu and Windows. I installed windows first on one of my Drives and then disconnected it to install Ubuntu on the other drive. Can this be the reason ?Thanks for the replies

Hi, For some reason my Windows XP is displaying wrong time every time I boot into it. Ubuntu is working perfectly fine on the same machine. I thought my motherboard battery might be dying but BIOS time is correct. Can someone guide me as to what could be wrong? I have Windows XP x64 and Ubuntu. Could it be due to a Virus/ Trojan ?

Yes it is definitely possible to upgrade Video card. However, I don't know if its possible in your case or not. I googled for your Laptops Specification but Couldn't find what I wanted. There's no mention of the Chipset/Motherboard used in the laptop. Anyways.. Since it comes with IntelŽ Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD I believe its either Intel G43 or P43/45 based motherboard. ( You can run some program and see what motherboard it has. Try 'Everest' or 'Sisoft Sandra' ) So technically it should have a PCI-Express slot where you can add up your graphics card. But there are a lot more considerations before you go and do this. 1. The battery that comes bundled with your machine is a 6 cell battery. So if you add up another graphics card to the already existing hardware it'll increase its consumption and you won't get the battery time you are getting now. It might be reduced to half if you go for a good card. 2. I don't know much about Laptop cards . Supposedly they are marked with 'M' like 9800 MGT or 9800 MGS. But If they need extra power connector like in case of normal CPU cards how will you add that ? I couldn't figure it out. 3. Warranty considerations. You might call up Toshiba and ask them if its possible to add the card without their supervision Personally, I think your card is good enough unless you want to go in for serious gaming. And If you are serious about gaming , You might consider going for an Alienware

Don't know much about wireless mice but If you are serious about gaming, I'll say go for a wired one. They have much longer life plus they have least response time.My mouse is too old (Logitech MX-518) but I am quite happy with it. :)btw.. Rvalkass is right bout Razor Mice. They are quite good in the looks department. Haven't used them though. They claim to have very good DPI and response timings. If you get a Wireless mice you might consider buying one from Razor. Though I seriously doubt if it'll be under $100Good LuckI'll suggest you go with a Logitech Mice if you don't find any.

If Price is not too high people might consider buying it.I don't get that much pocket money , so I won't be able to buy it but I would definitely want to buy it if someone else is paying for it :PI have 2x250 GB and 1x120 GB on my system and I seriously need more space since my disk is running out of space.I have a huge collection of songs, games and movies. This only takes up around 70% of the usage.softwares and other stuff like documents , pictures only take up the rest 30 %.I believe this is the general pattern amongst most of the users. Now if we see at the current trends of emerging High Definition Movies and the Huge sizes of Games. I believe Most of us would want to get their hands on one of these monster sized Drivesbtw.. I think 1 TB drive can also be considered right now and then later when the prices drop further buy another 1 TB drive.P.S. As far as the maintenance goes, I believe it won't be a problem if we have proper up to date tools but as far as I know , I think failure rate increases as the size of the drive is increased. since manufacturers are focusing on bringing down the cost of their drives while keeping the capacity as high as possible , Quality is getting effected. In india , I believe 100% of the HDDs are chinese

Even the reviews I've heard say that it should be faster than the USB 2.0 specification and 10 MBps is I think like USB 1.0 or 1.1 I hope your cable is not faulty or some internal connection thats connecting the HDD to eSata converter could be functioning wrong. Even the standard casings (normal USB 2.0) that I've used give more transfer speed than what you are telling. and I don't think they'll make some new technology which is slower than the present technology . If the warranty is under warranty , I'll suggest you get an RMA or something and get it changed.

hmm.. 3 dimensional mouse :PI believe theres also a research going on where people need not even touch the screen and just by performing gestures they can move objects on the screen. Three cameras track the movement in 3 directions - x,y & z.Microsoft should make something like that.I am too lazy to even hold the mouse and move it :Por better - just look at the screen and the mouse moves.

I am a casual photographer and I still feel Paper is better than electronic. Don't get me wrong but I feel digital photos are life less. I somehow feel that the printed photographs have a better and lasting effect than the digital ones. You can forget where you kept your digital snaps. And if your drive crashes everything is gone.Still.. Digiframes are much in demand. You save on the cost of printing the pic. No camera rolls etc. Just shoot and plug in a pen-drive :PThey have a good life as long as they don't get water in them ..

Sata Drives are just like IDE drives with only the cable difference :PAnyways .. I'll suggest trying two things :1. Remove the Sata cable connecting your Motherboard and HDD and replace this with another Spare cable if possible . Just to make sure that the cable is not faulty. If you can't find another Sata cable just remove it and then plug it again. During shipping cables tend to get loose. This is very common. Also Try to plug it in the 1st SATA port on the motherboard. They are either color coded or Marked on the board. It doesn't generally matter where you plug it in but I think BIOS reads the ports in order.2. Remove all other drives' connection from your motherboard except for the HDD and then boot. If it detects I think there could be a conflict of Master Slave jumper configuration.You didn't specify any specifications of your configuration or make of your machine so can't help you much with the drivers. BUT I don't think new machines need any drivers for SATA or other ports that are there on the Motherboard. If its there on the motherboard, bios can easily read it.

Hi, My graphics card is a bit old and I was hoping to upgrade it in a few days. My friend is going China so I was hoping if its better to buy from China or US ( where he has to go after that ) .. Since I think Most of the graphics cards are manufactered in China I THINK that they would be cheaper there .. Can someone guide me as to where it would be cheaper and by how much .. I am thinking of buying either an XFX GeForce GTX 260 or Radeon HD4870 And If someone can suggest me a better card .. its alwasy welcome but I am not expecting it to go beyond $150 since I am kind of tight on cash I am not planning to go for SLi since my board doesn't support it and I am expecting it to run the upcoming games like Splinter Cell:Conviction and Assassin Creed 2.. Sandisk is much better , if you can find the original that is :)Otherwise any pen-drive would be good.I don't know if you have ever noticed it or not but different companies have different capacity for the same storage space. Don't know why but its there and so far I've used Transcend, Kingston, Sandisk, a Local Manufacturer QMPL and Toshiba. and out of these I think Sandisk offers best capacity.Don't know the reason though ..
