  1. Solid state drives have unbelievable performance.. just imagine a thumb drive outperforming a normal harddisk ;)possibilities are endless but if u are ready to spend. I would buy it if or when its under $1000. Its great to have a lot of storage. My 500 GB is almost full, so I am pretty confident that i can fill up a 1000 GB as well
  2. Thanks.. i've fixed it.. a permanent fix .. removed Vista ;)mods please close this topic
  3. i think the problem is because u are not the admin for the server.. u need to access using root login or try making a new user with all the rights and then access with that account (its only possible if you are the admin for the server)
  4. from your post all i could understand was , that i think , you want to know about FLASH streaming. .. But don't know what streaming.NEways... flash offers streaming - YESand you can make both audio and video streams.well streaming basically means that you load the file (video/audio) directly and play it side by side. I cant write the whole process about how to create these.. I am too lazy .. Google is your friend. Look for these in Documentation for ActionScripting 3.0
  5. Hey, One of my friends has the worst handwritting in the world and he has an HP tablet pc. I don't know the exact series no. though. But it has this handwritting recognition software and it DOES understands the handwritting. The thing is , the handwritting recognition software needs to be trained for proper use. He told me that it took around 10 days or so to train it and then after that it was a piece of cake. It works great and he rarely uses his keyboard. You can go for the Tablet PC but don't expect it to run Crysis on it
  6. For laptops , There are five Intel processors. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The two that are good for money are > 1. Intel Extreme editions -- these are for the professional gamers and ppl who really want to experience power and don't really care about money 2. Intel Centrino - these are built for mobility. They are like the core 2 duos that we normally use but built for a special purpose thats mobility. They offer power saving features and thus most of the centrino based products have longer battery life. Some of them can even last for like 6-9 hours. Mine gives me a backup of around 4-5 hrs when I am only surfing the net or working on Word. . But don't expect too much performance out of these. Don't bother going for a Celeron or a Core2Duo based computer. thats a waste of money. By the way. for Mobiles I think Intel has removed their Core2Duo and replaced it with Centrino (with Core2duo) since its the same thing but with some added advantage of low power consumption.
  7. No religion teaches war in their holy books. Its basically the evil thats inside you that breeds all these feelings. If you concentrate on good things only good things happen. for your first question, I believe, Islam teaches peace. And for the second , why do you want to know what you get as a reward in Heaven ? Don't you think that you should do some good deeds in your life and leave the rewards and stuff to god. Now I have a question for you , Have you read Quran ? doesn't matter English or Arabic.
  8. No problems I try to help ppl and some ppl think i am spamming NEways.. I'll say since its a 500 GB it might take up time to analyze for bad sectors. Its a deep scan and does take a lot of time. I had an 80 GB and took around 5 hrs to analyse. it does not depend too much on the processor and other things. May be a SATA would take less time but still since its 500 GB I am assuming it would take like 4-5 hrs atleast for the surface scan. I would suggest you get a backup and get the disk replaced. By the way , assuming you have a partitioned drive this could be a problem with MBR. Could you try running a FIXMBR command using the recovery option on Windows boot disk. It might solve the problem. Give it a try before taking it for the replacement.
  9. First, I didn't get your problem exactly, Is your drive working now or not ?second, Did you try running a chkdsk before going in for the seatool ?most of the time the problem is with the directory structure or some corrupt file and ppl start thinking that their hdds are busted :Dthirdly, when you run this CHKDSK, run it with both the option, I mean the 'automatically fix file system errors' and 'Scan and attempt to fix bad sectors'
  10. hey Dooga, I think you are slightly wrong. Check this out --> http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/vpro/core-processors-with-vpro-technology.html Intel does produce 64 bit products. Infact most of the Centrino (core2duo) are 64 bit. Also Read this article on intel 64 technology As for the price is concerned AMD beats them. I'll recommend go for an AMD laptop, they offer much better overall performance considering the price you will pay.
  11. I think its a RAM problem. Somehow the affected motherboard must have fried your RAM and when you put it up in your working system, It must have fried the Mobo. Anyways Now you have a pair of affected RAM and a pair of disfunctional Mobo BuffaloHelp is betting on CPU but I think CPUs have a failsafe resister that gets short/burned before the CPU gets the problem. NEways. You cant be sure of anything. You can buy a Mobo Tester. Its a PCI card which displays error code according to the problem. That helps in tracking down the problem.
  12. ThanksI'll check for the updates. But I believe , as far as I remember I had downloaded the latest drivers.Guess I am the only one with this motherboard
  13. Dell. :(Hardware upgrades are a good thing. Plus they offer a decent bundle for the just price
  14. My first system was some IBM PC. I don't remember the generation or model for it. I was 12 yrs old :DMy dad taught me how to use it. I don't even remember the exact specifications. It was loaded with DOS initially, and later Windows 3.1. I still like Windows 3.1 bcoz of the interface.I think it also had a 5 1/2 " Floppy drive bay.
  15. I think you guys are right. I did some research on the thing myself. And its not worth that much money. I was thinking it would be somewhere around the same price as in US but they are selling it for like approx $200 over here. I think I'll consider a new graphics card. And plus, I didn't know this, but My graphics card has a physics engine built in it. So it won't be any use putting up this card I guess. All new GeForce 8 and 9 series cards have this engine built in
  16. Maxtor is not that bad considering the price. I am currently using a 120 GB I bought over 5 yrs ago. I don't think there is any problem with the drive. Anyways, if you hate it that much, get it replaced. I think service centre can replace it to Seagate for some extra cost (if theres a difference).
  17. thanks.. I was looking for something like this
  18. You will need the Flash Authoring tool. Its Adobe(formerly Macromedia) FLASH CS3 (latest is CS3) . You can get a trial from their website..Fla is the default extension for the Flash files. When you open up you Fla in Flash you get an option of publish under files tab. You can also select publish settings. You can publish your file as a Gif also . Most of the ppl don't know that. the default published files are .swf and .html.both the files will be saved where the .fla file is. btw. .. if you are trying to work with flash, Try using the Flash CS3 only. I don't like the easy publishing stuff like swish . They tend to get complicated. Its just a suggestion. If you need any help regarding flash, feel free to PM me I'll help you as far as I can.
  19. I think the current forces should be replaced by some neighbor countries forces.. that ways they would act as the peacekeeping troops. .. from what i've seen and heard ( i might be wrong ) the current forces are causing more and more damage ( direct / indirect )
  20. I hate it when 1. Ppl think that they are superior for a mere reason that you can't prove yourself right 2. Ppl try to show their attitude that doesn't exist. 3. Ppl dont respect women.
  21. @ Legend link. I don't have a great connection myself. That evens it . I don't play AOE II anymore though. I like GRAW .
  22. 1. Well You can set up Proxy and allow others to share your internet.I could be wrong on this but i think there would be a problemIf he dials you >> 1. He'll end up having charged for the phone call in any case. 2. Since he would be using a modem for dialling, I don't think it possible for him to get speed over 56 kbps. or even if we think its an ISDN call 112 kbps at max. Instead of going through all this , its better for him to get a dialup connection. that would be better. If you are looking for sharing stuff, you can use Hyperterminal. Its the best trick for sharing stuff. I wonder if Hyperterminal could be used for connection sharing.
  23. For some strange reason My sound card doesn't seem play sound on my 5.1 properly.I've a dual boot system.on XP its running properly. So I figure this is an issue with Vista only.My sound card is recognized as Realtek HD audio.*(My motherboad is XFX 650i Ultra)Now whenever a jack on the back-panel is unplugged or plugged in it shows and alert and gives an option window under XP where I can select what I've put. It somewhat allows me to configure any pin to be a input or output. However I could not find this same option in Vista. I generally don't use my Speakers so initially I didn't realize this .. LOL.. i know this is something that ppl configure first thing on their system. When I further looked into the Realtek properties I found that it has some how fixed the pins. and they were totally different from what I have it configured under windows XPso now, Its playing Rear speakers instead of Center/Sub Front is the same But Center/Sub is no longer there. instead the point was labeled as SideIt does show up unplug/plug indication but gives no option to configure it. I am attaching screenshots of the option window i get under XP as you can see I've configured my Headphones (instead of Center/Subwoofer)I cant seem to find this under Vista. Any suggestions ?
  24. Thank you all..I've got 2 GB Ram and am Considering buying another 2 GB. Was busy getting up my system.I never said my internet was slow. My System is a dual boot XP and Vista. I believe XP is much better than Vista for now. If i keep aside looks :DNet looks faster on XP than Vista. Is this wat I feel or theres more ppl who are getting same results ?I've tested both the machines with Firefox and IE 7. (I dont think IE8 would have made a difference). And out of the two Internet experience on XP was much better than Vista.I am thinking of scrapping Vista off and putting up Linux
  25. I am planning to buy this Card.. Can any one tell me what port it would use ? a PCI -Express (x16) or a normal PCICoz my motherboard (650i Ultra) only has one PCI - Express slotThanks
