  1. Good Choice.. You wont regret it.. You'll be needing a good power supply though. I'll Suggest you go with a 1000Watt Modular power supply.
  2. I found another way of removing these pen drive trojans. Take any live Linux distro. Run it and plug your pen drive after you've booted into the linux. Find any unnecessary files .exe and .vbs and delete them. Most of trojan exe's are generally under 1 MB :)Though ppl will find it difficult if they have a complex directory structure on their pen drive but this works 100%. Also the Autorun wont work properly in Linux. Since it will try to call an EXE which will not execute.Hope this helps .. Happy Hunting
  3. Razor's mice are good. I have tried them. It makes you feel comfortable. G5 is also a good option but I would say Razor would be better. Even though G5 has some great options but i dont like the build quality of Logitech products.
  4. I agree with rvalkass . It could be any of the three or may be two of three. btw You didn't specify which BIOS is there on your motherboard. or Atleast a Laptop model. Thanks
  5. Thanks Buffalo, Its there in one of My College's computer. I'll try to remove it . Ppl at my college actually used to think that its an Antivirus .. LOL. .. Any Idea if this can be manually removed using 'HijackThis' to remove the registry entries and then delete the files manually ??Can this trojan spread through pen drives ?I am using Norton Inernet security 2007 on a Laptop and it has a lot of sensitive data that I cant risk loosing. Will this pass through that also ?
  6. I am starting to dislike Nvidia. especially after what they did to their GeForce 9 series.God knows what struck them , everything was fine till the 8800 GTX :)NEways.. ATI HD4870X2 should be able to outperform GTX280. I believe AMD is better in their theory and practicals than Nvidia. While Nvidia only targets the performace factor AMD also targets the Quality thing.
  7. Thanks for the replies I have to use all of them in my project. But I still can find the internal workings .. Pls help. And I guess If i find a good enough theory , I might also NOT install these softwares. Since it needs a half an hour presentation only. Otherwise, I'll have to put up examples
  8. Hi, I am learning advanced databases. I need to know , If i can install more than one database software on a single machine ? I have to work on PostGRE, MySQL, Oracle and DB2/SQLite/MS SQL for an assignment. Secondly. Where Can i get the internal working of these databases from. I need to know how a query is executed and what all steps are performed under each of the above. Thirdly. I need an open source alternate to Oracle , if its there or a developer edition for Oracle. Is it available ??Thanks
  9. Hi , I've installed OpenSUSE 11.0 Installation was hassle free But I ran into some problems. My Current System Specs are : proc: Intel Core2 quad Q6600 Motherboard : ASUS P5Q Graphix Card : XFX 8600 GT RAM : 2 GB Hard-disk : 120 GB ( ATA ) + 2 x 250 GB (SATA-II) Sound controller : Realtek HD Audio LAN controller : Atheros 81 Series (8121) Initially I thought that this motherboard was not supported but It is. The problem is that for different component on the motherboard, Drivers are not given along the installation. I was able to detect the two drives using sudo /sbin/fdisk -l But was not able to mount the drive Please help me in mounting my hard-drives I tried dev/sda2 /path_to/mount_point ntfs-3g defaults 0 0 Second most annoying problem is that I am not able to install the drivers for the LAN. I downloaded the Linux drivers for this card but everytime I try to build the rpm its doesn't work. Third, I cannot configure Audio controller for this motherboard. I dont know how to do that. Fourth , I have an RPM for Nvidia drivers but I dont know how to install that. I tried double clicking and then running in terminal. But that doesn't work. It said to login as 'root'. I tried logging in as 'root' and then running but it didn't run this time. Can someone tell me how to run it. I'll be needing the exact command. the name of the program is "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.12-pkg1.run" P.S. Totally forgot. I am new with linux. Although I've used linux but this was the third Time I tried to install it and it succeeded. Guess I'll be sticking with this if someone helps me figure out how to configure all the above
  10. Just a friendly reminder. Take care with the power supply with this card. Although this looks like any other card but 8800 series is a power hungry series. Although you've chosen a 520W corsair but to be on the safe side try looking for something around 750watt or a 1000watt modular. That will make your system future safe. since in case you put up more drives you will need extra power. as far as I know , the processor you've chosen E8500 is based on 45nm technology so it must be using around 100 watt approx or may be lessand the graphic card will use up around 200-300 watt when its working in full throttle. So that works up to 300-400 watt on just two things. If you are planning to put up may be another 8800 series later in SLI or may be 3-4 drives later. 520 would be less for your purpose. Otherwise, It should work fine.
  11. I can't understand your problem properly but still i'll try to provide you with a solution. There could be two possibilities , either your Hard-Disk has stopped working or your casing is having problems. If its the casing (you can check by connecting your drive as an internal drive on some other system) you'll have to buy a new one and the problem is solved. If its the hard-drive problem , I'll suggest you go for a professional company to recover your data(only if its worth it Otherwise you can try and use many software s out there for this recovery). One is "Stellar phoenix data recovery". Its not free though.
  12. Hi, I am working on a project which requires me to send an MMS from a PC automatically. Can someone guide me how I can do that ?I am using VC++ for coding, So its a Windows project. I just need to know , How this would be done. I'll figure the coding myself. Thanks
  13. As far as I know, Wireless environment is slightly different, So I was wondering if an IP scanner built for a wired connection would work for a wireless one or not. I'll try that. Thanks PhyberOptycsBut If someone can still find a Wireless specific IP Scanner. I would be helpful. I need one for Windows environment. Not for Linux.
  14. First check if the IDE cable is working properly. Second check for the Jumper settings. This is the most common mistake that people make. Try setting the drive to Slave or Master instead of the cable select option. This SHOULD solve the problem Thanks
  15. Hi, I think you've not put up the jumper settings properly. Do that and it should work fine
  16. Thanks for reading all that http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ here's a direct link for 8800 GT Dont go for a GS version. Wait for price drop if you have to This is one card thats worth every penny as for 9600 GT, I would recommend it. Its not even performing as close to 8600 GT in many cases I'll Say you go for an 8800 GT .. Its the best buy if you can get your hands on it You can also consider 8800 GTS if you can find it. This version was better performer than the GT version. In many cases it could be compared to a GTX I am writing all of this since I have a good friend who is stuck with 9600 GT. I don't want another friend making the same mistake that he made
  17. An Antivirus basically depends on the type of system you are running. If its a desktop , and with limited internet connectivity, I'd say go for NOD32 but if its on an unsafe internet connection , Kaspersky would be a better choice. Similarly , If its a laptop, with slightly lower configuration , NOD32 along with a good firewall would solve the purpose. But if it has a good configuration, Kaspersky should be the choice. I'll say you should also try ZoneAlarm Security Suite. The Antivirus is not that good but its better than the NOD32. But then , it all depends on the purpose and the amount of money you are ready to spend. Norton and McAfee are the worst antivrus i've ever seen. Hogs up memory and they dont perform any cleanups. Just deletes the stuff right away.
  18. This happens when some of the driver files get corrupt. Try uninstalling from the device manager and then refreshing. It should detect and reinstall the hardware properly. Your D drive shall be restored
  19. I think you messed up the connections on your system Most probably the "ch" sound is from the AMP , and since Subs only work on bass frequency "Ch" is not audible there. I would say. You should disconnect your amp and speakers and then reconnect the wires, first on the amp and then on the speakers and subs. If that doesn't work, you might have screwed up your system due to short circuit.
  20. Is this problem since when you bought the drive ? Are you sure its a DVD ROM ? Did you check this with some tool to determine what all it supports ? I'll suggest you check this with Nero tool to determine what types of playback it supports.
  21. I believe your problem is more on the hardware side than on the software side. Kindly get your motherboard tested, since you yourself stated that VCC is zero. I think most probably a hardware component is busted which is causing this problem.
  22. Thanks for the upload. But my ZoneAlarm says its Win32.portscan.c Kindly scan this with a decent antivirus and re-upload if possible Also I am looking for something that can work in a wireless environment. Can you suggest something.
  23. You can build a pretty decent machine with 800 Euro. I'd say go for desktop , you'll get a faster machine.a Quad core processor, 4 GB RAM and 320 GB hard-drive.Graphics card - Nvidia 8800/9800 series.Motherboard - XFX 680i SLi
  24. Hi rvalkass, Nice specs. I would like to make some suggestions though. Judging by your config, I think you are planning to build a fast machine. I'll say, you should try to build a stable machine. I am using Asus P5Q motherboard and I dont think its too great. The motherboard temp rises to 45 degree celcius with almost zero load. I'll suggest you go for an XFX 680i SLi motherboard. You might think that P5Q has a PCI-Ex 2.0 and 680i doesn't but believe me, 680i SLi is a lot better and XFX has made that great motherboard. I find a lot of small usefull things missing on an Asus motherboard. Like they don't allow jack retasking on their sound card. Its a simple feature but yet very useful at times. You won't be getting a dual LAN port on normal Asus motherboard. 680i does have that, It even allows you to combine 2 different broadband to work as a single. besides these small problems, there would be a bigger problem for you Since you plan to run Linux on this machine , I couldn't configure slax to run properly on my machine. It doesn't recognize the sound card and the LAN. Plus , I was not even able to see my harddrives. Although I was able to run a live version of Ubuntu on this machine but that too with some glitches. Sound was not working in that too. lastly, For graphics card, I'd say you go for an 8800 series instead of 9600 series, since people generally don't see this but still, 9600 gt is a 256 bit architecture and 8800 is a 384 bit. It does make a difference when you use for gaming :PHope this helps
  25. Try checking if the files/folders have been marked as system / hidden attribute. You can uncheck "hide protected files/folders" and select "show hidden files" under My computer > Tools > Folder Options > View If they are visible after that. Just right click , select properties and uncheck the system and hidden attrib and apply. This should solve the problem
