That's why it's called an analogy. Windows is GUI commands to a personal computer--AS--cpanel is GUI commands to a hosting account. Analogy does not take the word meanings directly but establishes relationship between two words. S.A.T. basics 101...unless you're not a student in U.S.

We didn't anticipate that such massive response for free hosting credits... "what's you gonna do with all that credits, credits in side your trunk?"All kiddings aside, we'll have a different approach next time: like instead of manual award, modify the credit scoring factor by 2 or 3 for that day and let members post quality posts to earn double or triple hosting credits, instead of the usual factor. This topic is resolved. Thank you Velma for your countless efforts even though we may not fully understand how painstakingly you made sure everyone received the correct amount.

Your hosting login and other important information were displayed following the succession of your account creation. The proper way to access your cpanel is by yoursubdomain.trap17.com where "yoursubdomain" is the sub-domain you requested with Xisto hosting application. If you are accessing cpanel for the first time, allow pop-up and click on OK when a security alert message shows up with a warning message. Otherwise you cannot access your cpanel using the above link.Another way to access your cpanel is by gamma.xisto.com/cpanel and enter your cpanel username and password.

Php Nuke Index Shows Blank Page php nuke problem
BuffaloHelp replied to rize619's topic in Web Hosting Support
Always make your topic title as specific as possible. As noted in the forum announcement, "help please" is not an acceptable topic title. Modified.Usually, when a PHP page shows blank in your case means there's something wrong with the PHP code. Therefore, it failed to "render" a proper page.Have you made any modification or add-ons to the default PHP Nuke? If so try uninstalling or delete the whole PHP and reinstall. -
Try adding DIV#content_section_headingwith position, height and width values. When you place ID on DIV tags, you have to define it in CSS every time. Or, you could have defined DIV to be full width and height all the time. But that's at designer's choice. To make every DIV to be in full height and width: DIV { height:100%; width:100% }

I think the first step is to identify what you want, murtahg. And then narrow it down to what you need. This is, I think, important to run a good site (even a good looking) Do you want to give membership to your "site" and increase discussion like Xisto forum? Then what you want is a forum based script, like Joomla or other CMS (content management script). Or, do you just want to run a one person show, like a blog or a personal page? This is best with WordPress, CuteNews etc. If you just want a nice page for yourself and not gather members for your site, visit http://www.oswd.org/ for free, nice looking web templates. Then, replace "dummy" words with yours and viola~ you got yourself a webpage that looks good. CMS scripts are bit harder to change the face (looks, feels, colors) and they are called skins or templates (themes). They are readily available for download and the installation is just about automated. Simply follow the provider's direction. And if you are stuck at any point, you can always ask Xisto members to give you some aid. A quick analogy: Windows Vista is to Computer as cPanel is to WebHosting account. cPanel is your "operating system" and you need to install proper "software" to make it do what you want it to do.

Dialing A Connection On A Smart Device?
BuffaloHelp replied to ethergeek's topic in Hardware Workshop
Do you want your PocketPC to dial automatically when a "X" device connection is detected (in this case your computer) and dial the set phone number to your ISP? Or, do you just need a one touch dial and wouldn't mind the other automated feature? A auto dialing for PocketPC seems to be discussed here http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums/softwtic-dialer.html where as auto quick dial for most used phone number is here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -
This is your last warning--limit QUOTED articles to a limited, reasonable amount. If you're going to reference the whole article, simple provide the URL and contribute with your own thoughts in the matter.

Nikola Tesla was one extraordinary man. The city of Buffalo was once his play ground for his ideas. But due to many undocumented feuds with Edison (yes the very one) Tesla's contribution to electricity world went less than well notice... that is until now. Tesla worked on transmitting mass volts across the distance without the aid of clumsy wires. Let's face it, the power poles and loosely hung black wires across your block are just an eye sore. But Tesla's methods were quickly overshadowed by Edison's quick and easy solution--run wire grids to provide electricity to a block, a city or a state. This invention shown here http://bea.st/sight/lightbulb/ reintroduces Tesla's forgotten work(s). You can clearly see that Tesla was far ahead of his time. I wonder if Tesla would have been celebrated as the farther of invention had he was allowed to continue with his studies without politics playing the major role? The website demonstrates the possibilities with electromagnets, wireless transfer of electricity and the power of Tesla's understanding the principles of electrodynamic. Although it may not be much at this point, it's certainly something to be considered.

Making Custom Error Pages With Cpanel Not working properly

cPanel is a very powerful tool for web host managing. However, if you're not familiar with easy-to-do interface it can work against you.Sometimes the old manual and simple ways are the best solution. -
Making Custom Error Pages With Cpanel Not working properly
BuffaloHelp replied to reconraiders's topic in Web Hosting Support
I never got used to the GUI of cpanel for making my own custom page. Perhaps it was too simple for me?? lol just kidding. This is what I did. And you can name your custom error page whatever you like--I made mine with PHP extension and it's working beautifully. 1) make new file called .htaccess Note that there's DOT before the word htaccess. Any regular NotePad editor will do and you can always rename it if it's different via FTP client or cPanel. 2) enter the following lines: You can save your custom error page with any file name. All you need to do is match the file being called by ErrorDocument command. 3) place .htaccess file under the correct folder. If you have add-on domain place .htaccess under that folder and double check that the URL listed in .htaccess is the correct one. You should now be able to see your error page. Good luck. For those who are wondering the reason for custom error page: it's a great way to prevent search engines from dropping your site/page due to "broken link" or "bad request" I set mine so that it shows the message "page you're requesting cannot be found" and included my sitemap page underneath. If you are critical about visitor's traffic this is one sure way for them to stick around. -
You changed your domain name. And have changed the nameserver to Xisto, I'm assuming? When you do the domain name change, it will take at least 24-72 hours before your nameserver change can propagate through out the whole WWW servers. During these times you cannot log into your account by using yourdomain.ext/cpanel.This is why we provide an alternative way, which is gamma.xisto.com/cpanel and enter your cpanel user and password. To view your site you can enter gamma.xisto.com/~cpanelname where "cpanelname" is your cpanel username.

Free T17 Domains - Do They Support Subdomains?
BuffaloHelp replied to shadowx's topic in Web Hosting Support
It's really simple, guys.Xisto cpanel offers subdomain creation. You can create subdomain and it would be something like name.yourSite.trap17.com if you do not have a top level domain. When you associate a top level domain, you can still create subdomain of your choosing i.e. something.yourdomain.ext just like any other subdomain or domain you started Xisto.Long answer short, don't worry guys. Xisto's cpanel is a powerful tool. You can create as much subdomain you'd like as long as your domain is associated with cpanel (including add-on domains). Free domains offered by Xisto is just like any other top level domain (providing that the domain name is available for your to request). There's no lack of feature or service just because it's free--Xisto provides full, 100% compatibility. -
Is It Possible To Run Two Copies Of Firefox On Different Settings?
BuffaloHelp replied to shadowx's topic in Software
It also depends on which operating system you're installing them under. The discussion so far is for Windows based. I have Ubuntu as another OS and it was able to install two versions of FireFox without creating another user profile. I can run both versions FF1.5 and FF2. -
Deleting a post also creates potentially a hole in a thread or missing topic. Since Xisto is working hard to collect quality posts for SEO purposes (that's why quality posts is very important so that search engines "like" our forum), if a topic or a post is deleted, the search bot basically reports back and places Xisto as "unreliable" source for information. We do not want this at all. When a post is deleted, it blocks the flow of a topic in discussion. Not a good one there, too.I initially even went against bringing back the EDIT feature. But OpaQue had better faith in our forum members and so he brought it back. We just have to trust that EDIT would not be used in malicious manner--posting foul and vicious post and then editing before any moderator has the chance to review and rebuke.

Domain name is independent from your hosting. When you change your domain, all your files under your hosting are still intact. Few things you might have to change is your URL's within your page that calls for the old domain name.

Any Recommendations On A Cooling System For A Laptop
BuffaloHelp replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Software
Which fan type you choose the importance is on the CFM (cubic feet per mintue) rating. A 120mm fan can actually move less air than a 80mm fan, aside from the extra noise. If I was to build my own cooler, which is my next project for my sister, I would install a step-up voltage capacitor. I have already made a regular USB to round adapter that resembles any regular pin type connector cable. I'll make my own board that regulates 5V in-current to maybe a 12V out-current volt transformer. Or, perhaps even to a larger volt but I should also watch how much heat is generated from volt transformer. Using a higher volt and regulated mA, I can install any fan I choose. Start with a sheet of aluminum (better heat dissipater), position and cut vent holes for fans according to my sister's laptop and install. Perhaps I can make it resembling Jimmy's suggestion with slight slop to have the laptop in an inclined position. Encase the aluminum sheet so that the capacitor and transformer is tucked inside, away from giving an electric shock or potential danger. It may be bulky but the portability isn't the issue with my sister's laptop. -
The point of my discussion is not to post your essay as a form of forum contribution. If that may be the case, I can post my thesis which is 300 pages of single lined, 10 point font, back to back cover.Introducing your essay is welcomed but should not be part of hosting credits earned. I tried to explain it to you in more fashionable way but I guess I have to be blunt.

Sounds like you've been through some deep passion for someone... nicely introduced the initial feeling you get when you meet someone for the first time."A breath of fresh air" way to describe 'love at first sight.'

Php Date() Problem [resolved] date() seems to loop same ninute.
BuffaloHelp replied to sonesay's topic in Programming
It seems like your PHP.ini isn't set to the correct timezone? It's about 30 minutes off. Open PHP.ini and search and set to the correct timezone. And see if it matches up. Don't forget to remove ";" to be active. And just in case you were wondering, 13:00 is 1pm in military or 24 hour style. Just pick another time variable to show it as 1:00 -
In Love With A Best Friend i need help really badly
BuffaloHelp replied to bluefrostii's topic in Dating And Relationships
Some relationships were just not meant to be...And for him to keep you aside just in case he "needs the backup" is not and never fair for you. Heck, you can grow old and still wait for his affection while he's running around getting it from someone else. The fact that you still love him even you identified this flaw of his, says you are genuinely in love with him--and not just a crush or an infatuation. So the question is, are you willingly able to stand by while he comes to his sense and recognize your love for who you are or are you going to move on and find someone that deserves your love and can return equal admiration? It would be unwise if you believe that "you" can change any aspects of "him." I think this is the first and the biggest mistake when anyone falls in love. Love should be almost unconditional. I say "almost" because we all demand something in return at some point for our dedication towards someone else. You should love that person for who he/she really is and not what he/she can pretend or have the potential. And lastly, anyone showing that much of obsession at this early age doesn't look too good for the future You can almost sense some kind of psychological dependency on someone else from a far. And he choosing her over you says a lot about his ability to cast a good judgment. You don't need that juvenile as a boyfriend in your life. You deserve so much more! I don't know who you are but all of us deserve so much better. :)If he can't recognize your love by now, I don't think he will ever recognize. -

The reason you couldn't access is because the subdomain was assigned to Xisto. It's unclear whether it was a mistype or server error but I have fixed your subdomain to Xisto. You should be able to see your site using Xisto as the subdomain and FTP without an issue. Be sure that you do not set your FTP as PASSIVE login. Give few hours/days for name change to resolve. Let me know if any problem occurs. Thank you and sorry for your inconvenience.
