  1. It's been covered numerous times in our forum. Please refer to Xisto Readme for clarification.Either you have replied to a spam post or your posts were deemed discreditable. I have been urging and warning members not to reply to post/topic that is spam to our forum. When the spam topic is purged it is you, who replied, will suffer. That's why the board features REPORT instead of replying to the thread--"you're spamming."This is the last time a notification will be made by administrators of this forum: Do not indulge, cater or encourage spam topics. This includes making a reply to a spam post, trying to amplify what obviously is a spam topic with your own interest (i.e. "I don't know what you mean but could you clarify your statement? I mean I know a lot about the subject you're having difficulties but your post made no sense when I read it. Please reply with additional info" <-- this is an example of empty contribution) Use the REPORT and let a moderator deal with the spam post. Do not contact any moderator and proclaim that you did not know regarding spam post handling. You are falsifying if you say so since you digitally signed in the application form that you have read and understood our forum rules. It is your job as a member of Xisto forum to know and be updated with the latest regulations/changes of the board. Finally, if you feel that your hosting credits ARE, in fact, having a discrepancy please document your regression by doing a screen capture and please let me know. Capture your hosting credit screen daily about the same time and forward them to my PM.Thank you.
  2. Some ISPs have different mail server names. For example it could be SMTP.ispdomain.ext for outgoing and POP.ispdomain.ext for incoming email service. Please check with your new ISP for correct settings. It's only been in recent years that ISP started to use the universal term MAIL.ispdomain.ext. My last ISP required for me to actually identify which POP server, like POP.ispdomain.ext or POP3.ispdomian.ext.
  3. What you are considering is a fact. That's why I suggested array of keywords, such that $array1 = array("gfx", "photoshop", "brush", "effect")$array2 = array("sig", "signature")foreach (rss =>array1 or rss =>array2) { if (any keyword in array1 match RSS title) { photo[$i] = RSS title $i++ } elseif (any keyword in array2 match RSS title) { sig[$j] = RSS title $j++ } else { misc[$k] = RSS title }}sort (photo[$i]) ... sort allecho "Photoshop Tutorials"for ($i = 0; $i < array number; $i++) { echo "<a href=\"$photo[$i]\">$photo[$i]</a>"}echo "Signature Tutorials"for ($j = 0; $j < array number; $j++) { echo "<a href=\"$sig[$j]\">$sig[$j]</a>"}...and echo rest of unrelated titles This will sort within keywords and display sorted under each designated category. The sorting is easy. What it needs to be done is to find keywords that are most effective before sorting. This will eliminate the sort by only post date. I wouldn't make suggestions unless I have considered some possibilities. Another sort() is to sort array using another array (array_multisort), which isn't my field of expertise. Thus I have made my case known.
  4. A member (.nol) brought up an excellent point today. Index (table of content) of tutorials. An easy way to browse what kinds of tutorials are available in Xisto--both general and GFX. The simplest way of doing this is to generate RSS by sub-forum and then present it via Annex (for those who do not know it's our Community page). Or, if OpaQue grants, I can include HTML code to Tutorial Index forum post. Either way, it should be automated and updated according to RSS feed. RSS is the easy part. What I would like for all members of Xisto to do is think about how RSS can sort by keywords or same keywords. Basically, if titles are: Photoshop: Lightning Filter Sig Title: Sky Lens Flare Effect PS Burning Heart Effect they should be listed under: Photoshop Tutorial Photoshop: Lightning Filter Lens Flare Effect PS Burning Heart Effect Sig Tutorial Sig Title: Sky Well, you get the idea. Start discussing how we should categorize and how to approach. I think we'll be using RSS2HTML conversion program, similar script used in GFXTrap.com. PHP is the choice of programming language. Build an array of specified keywords and sort them accordingly. So I'd like to know what keywords are important. Those titles fall out of these keywords should be listed under MISC category. Thank you everyone.
  5. Ping Xisto forum by running CONSOLE ping http://forums.xisto.com/ Pinging http://forums.xisto.com/ [216.240.134.212] with 32 bytes of data:Reply from 216.240.134.212: bytes=32 time=104ms TTL=47Reply from 216.240.134.212: bytes=32 time=104ms TTL=47Reply from 216.240.134.212: bytes=32 time=104ms TTL=47Reply from 216.240.134.212: bytes=32 time=103ms TTL=47Ping Statistics for 216.240.134.212: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 103ms, Maximum = 104ms, Average = 103msIf he cannot get result from ping command, it is because ISP is either blocking or clearing cache. If he can ping but cannot access Xisto forum, his IP is blocked by Xisto firewall--not through the forum block. The possible reasons for IP block are stated above (attempting to access Xisto, hosting, and caused red flag of abuse). But I can see that Tamposch just made a post. The issue is no longer relevant.Case re-opened.
  6. Under any member's profile, you can select Post by this member or Topic by this member. This is the default feature in all IP.B forum scripts.
  7. Learn to be patient.I was investigating who closed and to the reason. And a moderator closed your topic to prevent further malicious discussion. Xisto should not be partaking on such prejudicial point of view. This forum is to build a better community. But as always, the Vent forum is always abused for such short insight point of view.If you were making your case, you could have waited few more hours until I had the proper chance to explain it to you over PM, as you did twice.Topic closed.
  8. Basically, the idea is to save a lot while you are young and vital. When you reach middle of your career you might not be able to compete with fresh, young talents. So save while you can and when you can, that can benefit your future.I have heavily invested in 401(k) option through my work. In just few short years I have tripled my contribution. And since I am young I do not have many doctor visits or prescription needs. But imagine when I have an illness that would require for me to constantly attend, it would deplete my savings fast. For this unimaginable event, I save for the future while I am healthy and able.Just to state an example, let's say you are saving $10,000 dollars a year at the interest of modest 3%Year 1: $10,300.00Year 2: $20,909.00 (($10,300 + $10,000) x 3% interest)Year 3: $31,836.27 Year 4: $43,091.36 ...Now imagine you've been doing this for 20 or 30 years. It can add up very quickly. Of course, we didn't count income tax for the interest and other bank fees... but you get the idea.As far as Health care issues, I would not worry about that. Although health coverage may change depend on the government, you can always shop around for better health care coverage plans. After all, it's your money that they want. So my idea is that if I have enough money to afford my own private health care coverage (not subsidized) I don't have to worry about politicians screwing up my health care plan. When it comes to money I do not trust anyone or anything that I do not have 100% control. United States' Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare should not be the choice for my future. I am sure there are people who might need a little assistance from the government but I will not be the one. I mean, I spent all those years learning and studying to get a great career and have nothing to show at the end for my retirement is just plain craziness
  9. Gentlemen,Our forum is to contribute with post while staying focused on the topic. It is not to be used for personal message exchanges--that's what PM is for. Please stay within the topic, which this case critiquing nol's signature before he left for coding.Read our forum rules: topic title must be specific. If you don't know how to title your topic, think of it as one-liner summary of your post. Note the change.
  10. Thank you for your suggestions. We have a dedicated GFX section with tutorials and web template resources. T17 GFX crew are available for any sig/banner request and other graphics savvy members can participate at any time.A new forum sections are created as needed, however, it depends on the popularity. So for now all graphics related subjects are posted under GFX section. When certain topics are created more than others we can create its own sub-forum later. In the mean time would you like to demonstrate by designing IP.B skin for our GFX section? There was a discussion before but the loading time of new skin was way too long. The new skin MUST be fast loading even for dial-up members.
  11. Thank you for your participation here at Xisto. Although you may be leaving Xisto you are not leaving the Xisto family. Come back and see us from time to time.I see your status as "graduating" from Xisto. Xisto offers some of the most excellent free web hostings on the net. And I'm very sure you are going to love Xisto - Web Hosting.
  12. The number 1 reason people's objection to organ donation is "priority." The word priority in hospital term means who gets to live and who doesn't. I know, it sounds barbaric. In business situation like ER (not the TV program ) patients are handled and cared by the priority situation--who has the most severe case? This is a fact. But this fact is also intertwined with the misconception that if doctors find out you are a donor, and someone needs your matched organs, the doctors may not be inclined to "save" you with all their might. This is not a fact. The doctors took an oath that they will treat every patient as equally with the highest regard; to do no harm (The Hippocratic Oath). But the modern medicine practices have been polluted by legal words. So the mere action of slight hesitance by the hospital administrators are met with the myth that goes around spooled whole bunch of ill-founded stories. And this rumor basically blanketed the general population that if you are a donor you might be harvested if your chance of survival is slim. It's sad. But take heart; although organs might be still hard to transplant there's new research that will make donating blood a thing of the past. At this time I cannot further comment on how and who can do this, but the scientists have found a way to synthesize blood from virtually small samples--almost unlimited supply of universal blood, O+. There are 8 blood types but only 3 blood classes. And the fabrication of this universal blood group means with what's already in the blood bank, they can manufacture the much needed plasma the real important part of blood for transfusion. This cuts the chance of rejection by the traditional transfusion method which includes red blood cells and their compatibility. It won't be long until this research is accepted by the world health organization.
  13. Though-out my visits to other countries and I believe there is a sociological correlation between the size of the land and the civil construction. Greater the land to explore the wider the civilization would spread out and build more loose boundary around themselves. Limited the land and resources the higher the civilization would build up, trying to maximize the limited resources. This is typical for Hawaii, Japan, Hong Kong etc. There are few exception to my observation when an island is isolated from outside influences. The Great Frontier, once the America's West was called, was discovered by pioneers exploring whatever there was left to explore--we all know the Columbus and Lewis and Clark stories. Americans, the settlers, were eager to explore and discover the new land. And the father's exploration was pass down from a generation to a generation. I remember when I was younger my father would gather BBQ things and pack us up for a weekend grilling at the great outdoors. And still today, whenever weather is great, I do the same with my friends. So I believe a brief retreat from the ordinary is embedded with many Americans--at least for me.To travel great distances you would need the comfort. So designing a vehicle that would be both comfortable and get there fast, the American car concept was born; build it strong, give more power and don't forget the carpet interior or sometimes leather. It is not only the symbol of certain men's inadequacy (ha ha) but the more power you have in a car the more you can tow and carry. It's the expression, "a caveman moved out of a cave and moved into a condominium but travels back to a cave for vacationing."And to contrast that to an island or limited land space, you hardly ever need to get there fast or with a such wide vehicle. Therefore, I believe that naturally the innovation and practicality out weighed speed and status quo.
  14. Fantastico! is the 3rd party vendor that is included with cPanel package. It is not up to Xisto or Xisto - Web Hosting to update Fantastico!--or Xisto - Web Hosting can update them at will. That's why Fantastico! offers direct link to script's website. Please visit the appropriate website and follow the updating script procedure. And since Fantastico! is off-line due to cPanel issue, you can visit the script you want to install and follow the upgrade steps. To state in simpler terms, Microsoft Windows is not responsible for including the most recent release of Adobe Reader. It's something it needs to be updated by the user at the user's convenience.
  15. The obvious reason for maximum cap on credits earned PER post is to prevent massive spam or copy and paste to gain the huge credit amounts. However, there is no cap on how much you can earn per day by contributing multiple times. The credit system is very sophisticated and it's designed for many variables, such as limitation on credits earned as you become a veteran of our forum, member rank increase and grammar, spelling structure.
  16. ghostrider,Please send an email to support{at}Xisto{dot}com with the followingssubject: Request for IP unblock from gamma serverbody:--server name: gamma--domain name:--cpanel username:--your IP address: (check the web on how to obtain your true IP address--saying this for other people. I know you know it ghostrider You wouldn't believe how many people list their IP as 192.168.1.107)--detailed message (i.e. Please unblock my IP if it's listed under the block list. I cannot connect to the cPanel from my IP address etc)

  18. I feel bad for females (starting from young age until the last cycle) for having this "pain" for the remainder of their lives. But also admire their ability to create something that cannot be copied even with our greatest technological achievements--to create life. There isn't any cure for PMS. But what you can do is to ease the process while undergoing PMS. I've heard that active life-style female deals with PMS better than less active female. Therefore, a regular exercise is good for your PMS duration. Although modern medicine may relieve certain pains, don't forget the good old fashioned medicine. A good night rest and healthy diet will go a long way.P.S. I'd be pissed and moody if my body felt like something was jammed up or ever-lasting bloating feeling all day long. Just imagine feeling constipated for 4~5 days while carrying 5 lbs of water and no bathroom in site... what can you do? It's a natural course of a female body.
  19. I remember filling up in Canada...thinking something similar to price per gallon. But it was price per liter. Boy I ended up filling twice in price compare to U.S.NYC is currently serving $3.21 per gallon for regular unleaded around my area. I don't see any price break in near future. Although I do not respond or react to a chain email like "subject: don't fill out gas on this day" but recently on May 15, I participated on not filling up. According to this chain email, United State's giant oil companies probably lost $22 million dollars. That's only by having some close to 500,000 people not filling up this day, across the nation. $22 million dollars a day by just half million people not filling up?? That's crazy! But I'm glad I was part of "sticking it to the man" protest :)I understand that U.S.'s high gas price since we import gas from Canada as well, but why would Canada pay so much? Oh I know, it's probably the same reason why oil enriched country like Iraq not having clean running water and not enough gas for its own citizens--something went wrong down the chain of command. They say s#!t flows downhill...I guess this is the perfect example.
  20. I just finished downloading from last night. I guess nothing is impressive yet but man the colors are brighter.I like the smaller touches, such as bush or plants moving independently, dead body floating down the stream--it's more real physics than previous versions. And gotta love the new additions to weapons--the heavy gun with rear view of my player B)Too bad only King of Hill is available at this time...
  21. The first step is to stop using public computer to access your account. This is not only dangerous for your account but possibly lead to all Xisto accounts' compromise. It is unwise to type any sensitive information or passwords using any public computing since you have no idea what is installed before your use--a previous user could have installed keylogger or anything similar. The second step, whether your information was snatched from a public site or the hacker guessed your login information, is to rotate your password or make your password unconventional. Mis $%@ with alphanumerics. Using caps would be another idea. Stay away from words found in a dictionary. The third, and most of all, is to make sure any scripts you're using for your site is updated or secured. 80% of times a faulty or leaky scripts contribute to account hack. SMF faced massive attacks by some posing Turkish hacker few months ago. Just about every user in Xisto were effected. If you don't need to modify files, always CHMOD your files to 644 unless otherwise.

  23. I've had Photoshop for many, many years. Let's just say that I was never able to produce anything close to what you posted here!Nicely done! Have you thought about perhaps becoming our T17 GFX Crew? No pressure at your end, however, we have SOTW forming just about every two weeks or so. Care to join or battle our sig gurus? LOLWelcome to Xisto! It's nice to have another sig master in the house!
  24. Oh I hope mummy2courtney sticks around... :unsure:Although some suggestions might have been overwhelming at first, I assure you that when you ask anyone in our forum to just slow it down he/she would not have ANY problem of going over again. We have members who are excellent at designing the basic web template (design) or easy to understand source codes (HTML to begin with). So don't feel reluctant to ask for further explanation :(Welcome to Xisto and I hope you visit us and stay with us!
  25. I'm sorry. The server name can be found in your cPanel. It would be something like, Theta, Gamma, Mu etc.Look for it on the lower left-hand side.
