Honestly, there isn't some magical formula that says which hosting business survives the terrible competition. I believe Xisto's continued success is purely on the word of mouth. We have in the past, and continue to do so, people trying to deface and bring down our forum and free web hosting, no ads services. But the greater general will come and test out our hosting because it takes little effort to try it out. When they see the offerings from Xisto they will judge for themselves if Xisto really stands up to the claim. Xisto simply offers free web hosting, no ads period! It was not so long ago that the board founder even decided to remove advertisements on this forum for all registered forum members. The priority of serving free web hosting, no ads out weighs revenue and profit in this forum.

Accessing My Cpanel After Changing My Domain Name [resolved]
BuffaloHelp replied to angad619's topic in Web Hosting Support
Give us about 30 minutes from this posting... I'm going to see if the problem is at your end or somewhere else. I believe you have set your domain name correctly. This happened before and it was fixed by OpaQue with his mighty magical wand. I can't say for sure but your problem is common from a certain registrar. I'll give you an update soon. 1:29AM (GMT-5) Further examining your hosting, you placed RewriteRule ^/?$ http://angad.trap17.com/wordpress [R=302,L]in your .htaccess file. This is redirecting all your traffic to the designated location. You must fix this so that it shows as domain.ext/wordpress By going directly to http://angadsodhi.com/wordpress/ shows that your domain is in fact active. Suggestion: instead of rewriting using .htaccess consider using redirect script in PHP or HTML. These methods will save a lot of headache in the future. The issue on resolving nameserver is complete. User must edit own .htaccess file to operate domain/hosting properly. -
Theories How The Dinosaurs Got Extinct many
BuffaloHelp replied to hibbso's topic in Science and Technology
I'm going to play "don't rock the boat" card here...Could it be possible that when "God" banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, the Bible talks about putting a distance between outcasts and the Garden in the form of fire. And something relating to the burning of any trace of the Garden so that no mankind would ever be allowed to enter/find it again. This might explain both "God" theory and a natural disaster that might have extinguished exotic living life forms, thereby burring them deep into the Earth. To a divine One time is irrelevant. Time could have been fast forwarded outside of Adam and Eve's dimension. Then both the Creation and Evolution play an equal part. After all, to rule out improbable in the science of hypotheses would be a crime against itself--science. -
Accessing My Cpanel After Changing My Domain Name [resolved]
BuffaloHelp replied to angad619's topic in Web Hosting Support
I am looking at your NS records by http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsreport.ch.angadsodhi.com/ DNS Stuff and I see additional nameservers listed for your domain: Where did you purchase your domain and who is the registrar? Incorrectly setting nameservers will result in incorrectly using your domain with Xisto hosting. -
Upgrading From Subdomain To Domain
BuffaloHelp replied to midnightvamp's topic in Web Hosting Support
I personally have not transitioned from a sub-domain to a domain because I decided to start with a domain name. But, if you are worried about dropping traffics, please consider the following: remain and retain your sub-domain for at least a year longer. In the mean time copy the exact format and database to your new domain and update only to your new domain.Start advertising and promoting your new domain using your old sub-domain. Be sure that no new users are signing up (if any) to your old sub-domain but they are redirected to your new domain.Close each topic/comment with a live link pointing to your new domain with the same topic/comment.Use your Google Site Manage to request your old URL to be dropped and resubmit new sitemap. Google App's Site Manager is very good to propagate the new domain and protect any "ban" issue from Google SE.Keep an eye on who is still visiting your old sub-domain (with IP visitor tool or OneStat like services) and when you no longer see any visitors, kill the old sub-domain. Keeping an eye includes any web crawlers, i.e. googlebot. Be sure to change content="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW" under your META tag to your old sub-domain.Do not use redirect service from the start. When you have alerted all active members from old to new site you can then use the redirect service for a short time. -
Making Changes To Subdomain Name Changing the bit beforetrap17
BuffaloHelp replied to mrdee's topic in Web Hosting Support
You may use the Process Page to change your subdomain name. It will require 15 of your hosting credits. When you enter for domain name/sub-domain name change, be sure to double check your spelling. The Process Page is located at: https://support.xisto.com/ -
Would you say that RSS feed for Windows executable format would come closely to your need? I am thinking in terms of wider coding to be more flexible for the end user. Otherwise you can just display a web page to your choosing.Majority of custom Windows GUI are based on Visual Basic? If so, I believe there's a way to stream HTTP information and include that within any frame. I know this can be done because I use CD/DVD auto start menu creating software that allows me to include any content for displaying, including an active web page, during a long installation process. So while it's installing, a shuffle of pages or information is displayed at a set interval time.

WHOA!I thought I was having another deja vu. I saw AEF forum in the past and thought "humm that's a nice theme to IP.B" but never checked to see if it was the actual IP.B.Nicely made and thank you for making it open source! I have been searching for an alternative to SMF because it was starting to lack in certain features that the end user would appreciate, i.e. ajax mode or better menu navigation.I will have to give this forum a try for my next project. A local high school is requesting forum that can be used by school's club. SMF was going to be my choice but AEF might be the answer.Have you been testing the stability and security, jlhaslip? I was going to suggest installing as a demo under Annex but since it's not part of Xisto Fantastico! that would not be a good idea at this time. However, I would suggest contacting Fantastico! and see if AEF can be included in their next upgrade. I see some huge potential with this one. (Sorry jlhaslip, I'm always thinking like a marketer--it's a habit)

I placed this topic in Hosted Members Section because it was hosting related topic :XD:It is clear at this point the motive behind the topic starter. We have another topic that refers to this one, which ended up as promotion to another hosting company. We get these kinds of spam promotions left and right on our forum. It's because Xisto forum ranks very high on search engines and top 18,000 rank on Alexa.Whatever the reasons behind this topic we all can judge for ourselves what Xisto Free Web Hosting, No Ads can do for each and every one. Xisto offers are only as good as your feedback. Tell us how we can continue to improve and test our services to see if we meet your needs.Thank you.PS Archangel_Baw, "empty can..." which is the direct translation to a proverb--have you been reading my signature or you too are aware of this proverb as well ?

The first date and you've been in this relationship for two years? Sounds like an excerpt from a war novel.Do you have some reservation that once you two meet, it might spoil the good thing you two have? I think he should know how you would truly feel before setting a time and a place. How about agreeing with each other that there should be no expectation on the first date? Taking things as if it was first time for everything--meeting, learning each other's names, what likes and dislikes etc.Strolling around a park is a good place to be both interactive and reserved from one another if needed. There's a little chance of 'the deadly silence' and the environment will present itself to offer topics you two can talk about. Whether it's about the weather or people passing by you two can talk about what's around you and what's about you. A guy can open up better when there's an activity that's involved. Ask him to take you on a boat ride. Let him row a boat and display his attribute as you compliment on his manly prowess. Make it a fun day. :XD:

I Met A Girl Online, But I'm A Bit Shy...
BuffaloHelp replied to Affliction777's topic in Dating And Relationships
Someone once told me, and I'm sure it's a popular saying, "every T has its cross and every I has its dot."I suppose that meant for every situation there might be some balancing, accommodating substance that would make a character a whole. This is to say that your shyness isn't all that to be blamed or identified as the cause. There is someone for each of us that would balance out our weakness so that two people can make a better one couple.Online "dating" does not workout all that great--but it's not like the real world dating isn't any better :XD: I believe mere words on the screen can carry the opposite of what the real, true intended meaning since the emotion to the words is only interpreted by the reader; not the writer. So be careful you don't think too much ahead would be my suggestion.Ask her out. It's simple as that. You got 50-50 chance at this (which is pretty much better odds than among other things). Either she will say yes or she will say no. But at least you get to find out if there's a chance she might feel the same about you the way you feel about her. If she says no you can still save your dignity since she hasn't seen you in real life--no worries on rumors that you were rejected... When you do get together, get to know her from the beginning. Carrying your "familiarity" of her from past online exchanges might enclose her into something she may not be in real life. Take things slow. Sounds too detailed? Well, I too have fall in love with someone online and I realized quickly that the person portrayed online was much more romantic than the person that sat in front of me. I fell in love with her words; not with her. -
Hey, you crazy Rob! Although I enjoy a funny pic just like the next guy, I think your pic is not accordance to our forum rules.
What do you think?

Normal desktops were designed to grant permission to all inbound connections. But if you run a server with domain (instead of workgroup--not to be confused with Domain name but joining domain within Microsoft OS server), active directory service or upgraded from Windows 2000 Pro, the next Windows version inherits permission setting from the previous version. This is why there's an option of FRESH INSTALL during upgrade installation. This is not to say that your situation is not common. But for those occasions where trying to connect XP Pro with another version, i.e. Windows 98 or Windows XP Home, have failed this is one solution to over come the problem.

Oh I had the darndest time trying to share files between two MS versions as well. But here is what I did. If you're on XP Pro, allow one folder from XP Pro to be shared with sharing permission to grant ALL. Do the same under Vista and make public sharing turned ON. And share PUBLIC folder to be shared. This is the easiest way. XP Home does not have the special permission you have to change. Let's go over the basics: 1) all your computers belong to the same WORKGROUP 2) sharing permission per computer per folder is set properly 3) if possible, disable any firewall on the first attempt 4) if possible, disable any anti-virus on the first attempt When you succeed in sharing files, be sure to assign proper sharing permission, i.e. CAN MODIFY, READ ONLY etc. Then turn on the firewall, turn on the anti-virus etc to test if you can still share with these turned ON. If it helps, read about XP permission granting on this topic http://forums.xisto.com/topic/47039-networking-windows-xp-pro-and-other-windows-version-one-way-to-getting-them-connected/

How exactly happened where I am so hated personally here? Judging by the number of your posts you were not hosted. Which means you are hiding behind another screen name to launch a personal attack on little old me. Otherwise, you are too cowardice to show your true identity fearing my retaliation. I do not work like that. To quote the first where it sounds so familiar from one of past messages tells me that you are hiding your identity. If you are related to biscuitrat I am dissapointed that she has some association with you. I am shocked since I gave so much respect to her. Comparing free web hosting and paid web hosting is like comparing fruits and vegetables... it isn't right, it isn't fair. And to judge Xisto services based on one person, like me, isn't allowing yourself to a wider view. I regret that your anger has narrowed your vision. Free speech comes with its own responsibility. You can shot "fire!" but can you shout the same in a crowded theatre? Would you take the full responsibility of chaos and public safety just to exercise your freedom of speech? I think not. Xisto free web hosting, no ads is not the perfect and far less from the complete hosting solution. However, for those who need free web hosting with no ads Xisto is a part of a solution. I, including Xisto, have never claimed this is THE place for web hosting. We simply thank each and every member for making Xisto the internet's popular place for forum and web hosting. Xisto - Web Hosting is the main provider for all Xisto hosting members and when a member wishes to graduate to higher reliable hosting solution without any hidden costs may seek out Xisto - Web Hosting or other web hosting provider. And such as that statement, if you feel this forum is not for you you can seek other places that agrees with your point of view. Do not come to this forum to lash out your anger at me. Respect is not deserved but earned. Free speech and all what you claim to be free may stand in the real world, but here is a reality check--this is an internet forum. You are a guest in Xisto forum. Xisto is not a government, not a corporate working place or your law institution. Do you normally go to your friend's house as a guest and start barking orders? If so perhaps you have a lot to learn about good mannerism. PS is it me or a post something so similar with the same picture posted a while ago? Am I having a deja vu?

Problem With My Hosting [resolved] Cpanel not working
BuffaloHelp replied to DeM0nFiRe's topic in Web Hosting Support
OpaQue, stop trying to make our server better!! :PI believe the new clustering structure of our servers are causing nameservers to drop for a bit--this leads to not connecting to your hosting account.Rest assure that your hosting accounts are all intact. There was a brief server down which lasted only few minutes. But is wasn't the server issue but just the nameservers.Server is back online and please refrain a topic like this by waiting few minutes. This topic only hurts Xisto. -
Holy Moses!!This is pretty interesting for Xisto board. I think there might be few members who would be interested in your script. The Firefox extension plug-in was very popular... perhaps this may be the second popular script development from the members of Xisto

I have used a couple of recovery software in the past and I am currently using Recover My Files http://www.recovermyfiles.com/ which turns out to be better for my usage. This program allows to be customized for selected file types ONLY to be searched. To test out its capabilities, I have deliberately formatted a physical drive and a logical drive to recover key files: JPG, DOC, PDF, GIF etc. Although the success rate of 100% complete recovery on DOC, PDF, XLS were still low just about any picture formats were recovered 100%. But even this success rate depends on how many times it was attempted to be recovered, what type of format level (low level format is just about impossible to recover) and what erased in the first place (such as any special deleting software or just Windows, recycling bin vs Windows Wash etc).

*chan boards are nothing more than uploading pics with comments...as I understand it.But you want to control spammers by allowing login process, right? Or disable login sometimes...Coppermine is PHP+SQL photo gallery script that is popular with any forum boards. The design of Coppermine allows you to integrate the album, gallery, single picture easily to any web page.CuteNews can be somewhat similar. A user can login and start a topic by uploading a picture (with permission grant from admin) and the comment box can be altered to custom to behave like follow up post (in fact, it's more like a follow up comment). Comments can be logged in required or anonymous. CuteNews is flat file CMS.

BuffaloHelp replied to Archangel_Baw's topic in Introductions
Hello and welcome to Xisto forum. If you are looking to start and build your own forum, like Xisto, you're definitely in the right place. I think you can achieve your goal in two different ways. One is to use our forum to start your own topics. Although your subject might be a bit taboo, certainly will attract inquisitors and other queries in this forum. The second option is to apply for our free web hosting, no ads and start your own forum by using your own domain or our free sub-domain. However, this option will leave you to install and manage your forum script in the beginning. But fear not! Our members are quick and glad to help you. Whichever you choose, feel free to post and contribute in our forum. And welcome to Xisto -
Wireless Network Share Files And Printing How to setup it???
BuffaloHelp replied to adriantc's topic in Computer Networks
Wireless is nothing more than wired network without the cumbersome wires running around. If you are used to sharing files and printer with wired network setup, do the same with wireless network setup. First you would need to make sure your laptop and desktop to belong in the same workgroup/domain. Second, install your printer to a computer and enable it as SHARED. And install printer as NETWORK PRINTER to the other computer. There would be some fine tuning with your firewall, permission and file sharing since not all OS version would operate the same. You'll need to specify what OS you are running along with which firewall software you installed before we can discuss any further.
