Thank you for all detailed answers, guys! Just a quick edit: Xisto.net is no longer in service. Instead we provide even better single line text ad by Qupis. Also, please use Xisto - Web Hosting.com by its name. "ch dot com" is another website that is not related to Xisto family II x LIAM x II, we look forward having you as a forum member and a hosting provider for your needs.

I've heard that only Vista would let you play Halo with other online players. So if games are your motivation the latest Operating System would be best. Send the extra money to purchase more RAM for your laptop. When purchasing a laptop be sure to find out the maximum RAM capacity. You don't want to be stuck with a laptop that only has 1.5GB RAM as its maximum upgrade. Personally, I would still stick to Windows XP but the PRO version (not the HOME edition). It's still the very best for Windows networking OS without whole bunch of crap built-into it. Dell is still offering Windows XP Pro with their business lines. If a company like Dell is still offering XP Pro, there's something to be said about that particular OS.Any Vista version to match XP Pro's administrative and networking functionally is Vista Business Premium Edition or higher, and who wants to pay all that money for something that is the copycat of XP Pro with fancy GUI? It's a scam I tell yas!Command prompts and DOS keys all the way! (Okay, I'll stop rambling)Okay, one more: I predict Vista would be as a failure as Windows ME. Do you remember how long that edition lasted? Only a year, at best.

Those options are to enter your BIOS setting and boot sequence mode. F8 or Left Shift is to enter Windows in Safe Mode. I believe post Windows 98 you must use F8 from the very start. Dell should have an instruction on how to perform this. Basically, turn on your computer (not restart) and hold onto F8 until you see something like: You might hear Keyboard Error beeps. Stay vigil and hold that F8 until you see the above menu. If you see Windows logo screen you must shut off the computer and start again. Here is another trick (it may damage your HDD): When you do see Windows logo screen, hold onto the power button so that your PC shuts off cold. Start your PC again without any depressed buttons and your system will automatically show the Safe Mode boot screen. This phenomenon is due to Windows failing to start properly the previous time. This method is at your own risk.

There are sample scripts you can search for that turns associated HTML tags to BBCODE tags. The idea based is to use array of HTML tags with BBCODE and use string replace. And I'm assuming "form" by meaning our free web hosting application form? Again, the idea is to replace, i.e., <b> with and <a href=...> with [url ]. Default BBCODES such as QUOTE, CODE are CSS driven. They are not found in HTML tags but used it as customized CSS tags.

How To Create Counter-strike 1.6 Server In Console Mode
BuffaloHelp replied to ZaM0's topic in General Discussion
Unless I hear directly from Counter-Strike or other veteran players for otherwise, according to Counter-Strike TOS: However, I see no restriction on running one's own dedicated game server. In matter of fact, Counter-Strike is encouraging and promoting dedicated server hosting from their end. Notify admins of this forum if the above topic violates any legal trends. -
Ftp Application I need a new FTP client
BuffaloHelp replied to bradley908's topic in Web Hosting Support
Here is a trick to upload CMS type files and other large files that need to stay intact on original directory structure.ZIP your files according to the directory structure. Upload one ZIP file using any FTP or your cpanel. Using cpanel's File Manager click on the file and Extract your ZIP file. You can upload a zip file under few minutes and it takes the powerful server CPU and its resources to unzip your content. This takes less than 30 minutes for the whole process. It's easy. It's simple. -

Same Problem With Hosting Credits But now Iv documented it.
BuffaloHelp replied to DeM0nFiRe's topic in Web Hosting Support
You will be penalized heavily if your post is deleted. This announcement was made aware time and time again in the Alerts and Notices section. Furthermore, if you reply to a spam topic and that topic is deleted, you will also be penalized as well. And thus, we have the REPORT feature. Again, made aware in Alerts and Notices section. But this should be the basic understanding of hosting credits. This reply and the previous post are going off from this main topic. Question On The Support Desk For Trap17
BuffaloHelp replied to DeM0nFiRe's topic in Web Hosting Support
I don't have an answer to why your support ticket was closed without a valid reason. I have an access to Xisto - Support desk and most of times they are replied with a proper action. But in order to get to a proper action I first have to deal with god unbelievable amount of spam... but still, it requires a manual action by a support desk user to make an active ticket into close ticket. -
Same Problem With Hosting Credits But now Iv documented it.
BuffaloHelp replied to DeM0nFiRe's topic in Web Hosting Support
Perhaps the hosting credit system does go from 0 to -4 to suspend an account. That would explain why OpaQue set the hosting credit so that when you are in the negatives even a short post earns huge hosting credits...But since OpaQue is close guarding the source of the script, I wouldn't have a clue--just my speculations and its functions. -
Please submit your ticket with your PayPal account email, your cpanel, PayPal transaction ID and the hosting credit amount you purchased. The new support ticket is not compatible with PayPal yet and thus you would need to manually state the whole information. Please use the subject line as: Attention Velma - Xisto Hosting credits purchased but haven't receivedor something in that manner.

The chance of Xisto offering ASP is very slim, if not, or close to nothing at this point.

I should strongly stress that "advertising Xisto" or "back link to Xisto" is purely on a volunteer basis. You are never obligated or coerced to advertise someone else's message with your hosting site(s)--not even ads of Xisto, your Free Web Hosting, no ads provider We state that you kindly link back to Xisto so that Xisto gains popularity. The more popular Xisto becomes, the more great services and features Xisto can provide. It's no secrete that just few months ago our highest free hosting plan only offered 150MB with 5000MB bandwidth. Since the growth of Xisto forum and its reputation, the owner of this board (OpaQue) increased hosting plan 2 to 500MB with 10000MB bandwidth. Even the forum is ADVERTISEMENT FREE to all registered members of Xisto forum. ~~ da da da da da~~ I'm lovin' it (<--this is the trademark of a company )

As a reminder, you can use REPORT button at the bottom left of a topic/post to alert moderators with this nature. Thank you.

There's always a room for an improvement. Who knows, perhaps in distant future Xisto may so... but at this time ASP requires dedicated full time around the clock support watch (since there are more hackers and hacking tools for Windows than Linux OS )Therefore, ASP is currently offered by Xisto - Web Hosting only.

Alert! Notice To Hosting Members! Urgent!
BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Web Hosting Support
Yes. Members who are affected by brute force FTP hacking can contact me ASAP so that I can regain their accounts.I still see 8 accounts with yahoo.com.vn as their cpanel contact email address. This is the very hacker's email address that caused all this. Please check the contact email address in your cpanel if you already have not done so. -
Alert! Notice To Hosting Members! Urgent!
BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Web Hosting Support
You know what's surprising even after this ordeal?1) some hosting members are still not aware of this situation and have not request any help on their hosting accounts. I cannot perform the proper course of action unless I have hosting members' permission or request. My hands are tied until then.2) even after resetting their cpanel password, their contact email addresses are still not of their own--which makes my effort of resetting and regaining control of hijacked accounts meaningless--hackers can request your current password since your cpanel contact email address is set to hackers! This is ridiculous.I need every hosting members to double check your cpanel to see every information relating to your private information is all correct and updated.I do not mind administrating your hosting accounts due to Xisto's security issues but I do mind administrating for hosting member's disinterest and lack of urgency when it comes to checking and updating a simple thing as cpanel contact email address. -
This is not a new case. brandon10092 is just becoming aware of this situation.Another reason why members are to pay attention to Xisto forums and stay active by regularly logging to this forum.Issue is resolved via PM.

That is the same IP address that used brute force FTP to hack into few of our hosting members' accounts. We had few issues in this topic. Please refer to my announcement to all hosting members of Xisto. Although the perpetrator has been permanently blocked from Xisto servers he/she/they did some small damages to hosting accounts. But rather than "hacking" your page it seems like he/she/they used it for hosting their music files or just using up hosting disk space for something else--nothing, at least, was deleted from hosting account(s).Please be advised to make your password stronger by combining with letters, numbers and symbols.Thank you.

Did My Account Get Hacked Into? Some suspicious issues
BuffaloHelp replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Web Hosting Support
I do not know... but OpaQue tells me that most of accounts, I had to reset their passwords, were compromised by FTP brute force method. And once passwords were found the perpetrator then accessed those cpanels and started to use up their disk spaces.I noticed that when I went into each account and saw the last IP to log from 222.252.*.* (the last two values were not consistent). I'm wondering if you noticed out of ordinary IP as the last logged when you finally got into your cpanel...? -
When you upgrade your hosting account, yes your hosting credits resets to zero as mentioned above. I have changed all accounts' passwords without charging a single credit. You could have simply PMed me This topic is closed.

Alert! Notice To Hosting Members! Urgent!
BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Web Hosting Support
angad619Your account came up as one of "problem" accounts but I was told probably not. Look through your directories and see if you find any suspicious files or folders. Brute force, indeed, was used to break into accounts with weak or predictable by password cracking script. As for the process page showing some error messages, OpaQue is working on the version 2 of the Process page. Therefore you might see some error message but the service would perform as it should. The security for Xisto hosting accounts worked as it should (in acceptable standard) since only a hand-full of accounts were effected and not all 200+ accounts. But before the culprit was banned it did some damage. Although the penetration rate is way below the tolerance level, I do apologize for any inconveniences this has caused. I could say something in regards like you should have done this... you should have done that... but at the end at least we are able to recover from this disaster.Let's use this experience as a learning point. Xisto is now aware that its firewall is not perfect. And our hosting members will prepare better for the future by having stronger passwords. Hopefully, there will be no next time. -

BuffaloHelp replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Web Hosting Support
I have been informed that users "punisher" and "brandon" might be experiencing some issues as well. But until they contact me I will not take any action to attempt to reset their passwords. Guys, please PM me if you read this. -

BuffaloHelp replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Web Hosting Support
FirefoxRocks, Was your original password found in a dictionary? In another words, was it not combined with numbers and symbols? If your original password was a combination of words found in a dictionary, please read http://forums.xisto.com/topic/51761-topic/?showtopic=51761 And for the rest of Xisto members, start changing your passwords as I explained in above topic ASAP!!
