  4. Contest running from August 24, 2005 ~ August 31, 2005. Contest ends on September 1st at 12:01am EST (GMT-5) Trapopoly! The game of chance. Play this game to earn some free favors from yours truly. This game is simple. This is where your posting number counts! You will add up your posting number until you have a single digit. You will post as follows: Take a snap shot of your posts number. To do this, the simplest way is to have your browser show any of your post, click on Print Scrn button located right above the Insert key of your keyboard. Open your usual picture editing program (I use Windows Paint for this one) and paste. Crop it so that it shows your forum name and posts number area. Crop it so that it?s no bigger than 300x200 pixels Upload it to your usual picture storage place. Add your posts number until you have a single digit number. Add from left to right making them a single digit before adding another. For example, you have 297 posts, you add 2 + 9 = 11 -> 1 + 1 = 2 -> 2 + 7 = 9 Post it using this format. Please follow this format. For example, BuffaloHELP 6 + 4 + 5 = 10 + 5 -> 1 + 0 = 1 -> 1 + 5 = 6 My game chance number is 6 Rules: In addition to this rule http://forums.xisto.com/topic/26294-trap17s-very-own-scavenger-hunt-participate-and-win-hosting-credits/ This contest is open only to all general members. Administrator and moderator members are not eligible. You may submit only ONCE during the contest period. You can submit it at anytime but you have to submit it before the deadline. I have predetermined the prize lists and they are final. You cannot substitute or transfer to or with anyone. The prize list has been posted and made invisible until after the closing of the contest. I will only take first 10 responses for this contest. The reason this is in the no post count area is to avoid any spamming issue that may rise with your submission. Good luck everyone
  5. Yeah, it is a nice banner. I'd place that center though. In my screen, there's left over red portion at the right hand side. I like the golden yellow than the bright yellow you used initially. And I can see that you muted out the red color as well. Nice choice. But you know, the text can be brighter. I know you are trying to keep the theme going but perhaps visibility should be important as well. How about using the bright yellow for the text that are golden yellow? And that goes same with red text. I still feel that black can be in the lighter shade. I think the forum titles, "Important Forum Information!!!, Rate the Forum, Introductions, Chiefs Hockey...etc" should be in bold as well. But hey, it's your forum and not mine Don't let this novice tell you something that does not make sense. It looks very clean and sharp! Good job.
  6. I have seen posts about what kind of messages are out there fooling members to give up private information--especially when PayPal sent you one. Oh no! No way, PayPal address cannot be faked. Wrong. I almost gave away my entire personal information about 3 years ago. And the fake messages are getting better and better. Even the site that links to looks too real. So I decided to share this with you, in hopes that no one from Xisto are suckered into giving up what is private information. PS I know everyone knows this but let's spread the word and see how many more we can educate. Post in original as you can. Sorry that my gif conversion cause some color information loss. What I received in my inbox When I click on the link, it almost fooled me but thank god the site was taken down
  7. Impressive pictures. Great job making it into a sequencing photo. Are you familiar with photos with flash? I know everyone knows about using flash but are you familiar with using it the right way? The indoor shots probably needed flash (a good flash can give you up to 1/180, that's 180 strobes per second). I see that your white balance exposure is probably set to auto? Set them to indoor lighting because some colors are too orange or too blue.I can see in one of the pictures where you stitched them together that the background is darker than the rest. To eliminate the off colors between pictures from the same spot, keep it in full manual with Tv and Av set the same through out the whole shots. This will eliminate some photos with darker/lighter background. When you are using flash you can make your shutter speed higher to eliminate the blurry motion. But that's unless you WERE going for that effect.
  8. Thanks for the comment.I have tried few different time values and shutter speeds. But I liked the 2 Tv with 100 ISO because others had over exposure to the small background lights (they were street lamp and were brighter than the waterfall reflection). I didn't want any other light source to be the focus, since I was trying to capture the colored lights reflected off of the waterfall. And wouldn't you know it? I didn't have my tripod that day. I took that picture free standing. Thank goodness for the Image Stabilizer lens!
  9. Ah I already see that you don't even have the SP1 installed. The SP1 has the newest HCL (hardware compatibility list) to make your operating system recognize specialized hardware parts. SP2 is better but I personally don't like it. I have my reasons Try installing just SP1, install your driver that came with the card and see if that helps you out. If not you know where to find us.
  10. Excellent suggestion. Currently we have this place for your needs The Real World > Entertainment (No Post Count) > Pictures (No Post Count) You can post it there in the mean time. I believe this section will cover everything about pictures/photographs. Unless the forum receives overwhelming responses to creating a dedicated Photography section, this will do for now. Thank you.
  11. 99.99% of ISO are illegal. They are not to be discussed here in Xisto in accordance with TOS (terms of service). Okay?We can discuss P2P programs but do not mention the downloading movies/files since it too is copyrighted material. You posted two questions in one topic. You can split off those. Search for 'editing subtitles to a file' in Google or Yahoo. By the way, this should have been posted in the Software section and not in the Computer section. Moving.
  12. No it does not cost you anything to set up your own subdomain under your subdomain with Xisto. And as far as I know, you can have multiple forums but it needs to be set up in your root directory. So, set up the forum/news and give an access to that forum/news only. That is possible. I have been experimenting with CuteNews and it seems to be the best choice for just updating information. CuteNews does not require any SQL database so it will not take so much out of your hosting space. And adding information is as easy as posting (does not require FTP or cPanel access). CuteNews is also a part of pre-installed scripts, courtesy of Xisto. Ain't it cool?
  13. Thank you mayank. I hope my post was straight to the point. I have tendency to digress.Getting back to the topic, sader, I forgot to mention that the unlimited subdomain is incorrect. You can only have total of 99 subdomains. This means that your subdomain address would be something like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or subdomain.sader.trap17.com
  14. I don't think there's any software that can speed up what is not under your control. Because the internet speed is depended on your ISP's set default speed the condition of copper wire (optical wire) from the main node to your house and house internal wirings the congestion of web-servers (pipe line) the cache setting in your browser the speed of your computer's abilities to process the information You can make your internet downloading/uploading experience better than your current one but not by much. Try windows tweaking using registry editing. But be warned that this may cause your computer to misbehave. Always backup your registry before attempting any editing. Don't forget that cable modem speed is like a water pressure--more people are on the same line tapping into the same source at the same time (your neighbors all have cable modem, for example) the less water pressure you will have. I have edited my registry to download/upload faster than when I just set up my DSL. But it only went from 860kb dl/128kb ul to 1200kb dl/360kb ul. But loading time for most pages are the same. I am at the mercy of whichever web-server decides to feed me with faster through-put.
  15. Well first of all, the address is wrong. It's not "cok" but it's "com" Second, you cannot FTP using your browser. You should use any FTP software. In the hosting members section, you will see the pinned topic regarding setting up FTP software. There are others out there and I use FileZilla. It's free. Third, yes you can access public_html folder and upload using your cPanel page. Log in and click on File Management. A new window will open which resembles a directory listing. But you have to remember is that you shouldn't click the words but the folder icon to navigate. People always forget that. But using a FTP software is much easier when uploading massive or a single file out of hundreds of files later.
  16. Well, don't be too short giving a credit to these software. These days, a photo stitching program progressed so much that it will know what to do. When the company I work for sent Photo Stitch (included in every Canon printers) it was amazing! So give it a shot before you cancel out the idea. Photographs are weird things. They are the representation of what you see but never the same perspective--the exact effect you described (called the vanishing points and linear lines). The only way to accommodate what you are trying to achieve is to have a very wide angle lens for your camera. Since your eyes are stereo--3 dimensional perception--you will never capture the same effect with a single lens--2 dimensional equipment. The photographers I work with have invested in two different types of wide angled lenses--very wide (a.k.a. super wide) and fish-eye (a.k.a. dome). I'm going to include a quick sketch to show different ways of capturing the possible solution. Figure 1 Figure 2 The point facing down in green triangle is where you might position your camera, moving parallel to the scene you are photographing. As you can see that the second figure shows the area it will cover as the result of using a wider lens. And this will minimize the distortion of the said perspective when stitching them together. It will be easier when stitching the photos together, also. There are other lenses called, Tilt-shift where it will not show any vanishing point distortion caused by your point of view, but they are in the ranges of $1000 each. Note that I did not include the 1/3 rule to demonstrate without confusing the effect. Post your question further if this is not what you are expecting. And if you can, please be more descriptive and post perhaps with a quick drawing.
  17. St. Michael,You were the second person I made the contact when I joined this forum. You showed me some ropes and tricks when I became a moderator. I shall miss you dearly. If this is something that you lost interest as a whole, I hope you get your mojo back because I know you did not lose interest in Xisto!!! :DWe'll see you again, soon. This is not your good-bye but a long "see you later" thingy.Best regards,BuffaloHELP
  18. Now I've seen everything! This looks like some kind of marketing scheme to sell more diamonds. Don't you think? I mean this is the worst idea since the taxidermy was thought out. How can one person place a price of another person's life--not along carrying them around in his/her jewelry? I'm not bashing the idea of keeping the memory of the loved ones, but the people who came up with this idea to exploit their sorrow in the name of almighty money.Stick a fork in me, god, because I'm done and have seen everything and I'm ready to die in peace. Good grief...I couldn't figure out the process which cremated ashes are to be fused with the diamond. If the whole diamond is made from carbon ashes then it's not a real natural diamond. That means it will depreciate over the periods of time. Then, it's not actually an investment over the life time (as the website claims) but simply carrying around an urn, a very expensive urn in pretty enclosure. HA! And what would happen if someone decides to pawn that diamond? Yuck! I hate to be the one who purchase dead person's diamond with the dead inside.
  19. If you are asking how to stitch two or more photos together to create a panoramic view, I would suggest getting a photo stitching program. I searched http://download.cnet.com/windows/ and searching using "panorama" and got these results. Click this link to see. http://download.cnet.com/windows/?qx=19&search.y=6 You can try those programs and see if you like them before you venture out and investing. The good rule of thumb for taking, what soon to be a panorama photograph, is always overlapping your photograph by 1/3. In another words, always take your photo in the same setting (not in automatic because your AWB will screw up the brightness and colors, but that too can be fixed as well) using either Tv, Av, or Manual and overlap the previous scene with the current scene by 1/3. This is also known as part of two-thirds rule.
  20. As light crept hastily through the windows, a sudden howling brought trepidation to the dogs, shambling aimlessly. They yowled frantically, pawing only scratches. Momentarily, everyone ran, attempting, praying that it
  21. I don't know... I think my answer is also correct. Math is not only in base 10 but base 2~9 (why limit your calculations with 10 digits when you can do it in 9 or less? ) I only moved ONE digit, literally, and base was never a factor that could not be included. rvalkass, when you type them using Word or anything that can do special fonts, and copy & paste you can make it to reveal just about anything. BB codes do not have the superscript capability.
  22. Good question. For the question and due to responses I dug deeper to find out the following (which I never would have taken a second glance if it wasn't for this topic): URL is separated and categorized as {protocol} :// {place type} {separator} {server address} Protocol: can be HTTP, FTP, FILE and more. It is the first instruction for your browser HOW to search for your entered address. Place type: always expressed as WWW which is usually omitted these days thanks to the wildcard Separator: dot Server address: COM, GOV, NET, ORG are few examples. So we get, http://forums.xisto.com/or http://forums.xisto.com/ This is also known as the TOP DOMAIN NAME. When you see SLASH after the server address, it means to look for it in the server address' folder. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/-folder named "banners" in Xisto's address Subdomain is an actual physical address that WWW can locate. It can be expressed as {server name} {separator} {top domain name} forum.trap17.com If a location of a house represents the top domain name, subdomain can be viewed as each floor of that house. And within each floor you have X number of rooms or FOLDERS to store your belongings. At this point of WWW stage, it does not matter if you have subdomain or top domain with folders. But when you set up a subdomain it is easier to manage without disturbing other files. This is how Xisto or other subdomain lenders work. Xisto could have (but never will) given out SITENAME/yourCpanel/ as your subdomain address. But then everyone would have an access to the main folder where others could view/edit/delete your file. To divide and separate (mainly for security reason) everyone's files, subdomain is the best way. By doing so, you can access Xisto's main server but view/edit/delete only your portion in the collective. What this is saying, you can setup subdomain of your own WITHIN your subdomain hosted by Xisto, and you can use it for other programs, developments or hosting for others. Xisto provides every hosting member with a free SUBDOMAIN name, i.e. yourDesiredName.trap17.com
  23. Holy gees, you guys are out to prove me wrong... :)Anyway, it's has been discussed and I'm unpinning this topic. I'm sorry I didn't know there were other various worms to zortob. But the topic title states a new worm, not specific to just one. Otherwise the title should have been reflect to such. Okay guys? Let's not have a contest to see who's right...
