  1. It depends really I suppose. My method centers the site, and it can be stretched, so it fits well with 800x600 and has no problem under 1024x768 and beyond aside from text size, which as previously mentioned can be fixed by a quick key within I would say any browser these days.
  2. I haven't actually owned a laptop yet, mostly due to the price, as I buy cheap desktop parts and build myself. But when I find work and what not, it would be really nice and handy to have one around for circumstances that are beneficial to be able to move around with it so easily, especially if I can dual boot into Windows as well is fine, that's important no matter what hardware or package I go far as there will be times I need a Windows specific application (Like Borland Delphi).
  3. Probably a bit old but might as well chuck in my 2 cents also.I enjoyed San Andreas for the most part, but it didn't seem as fulfilling as say, GTA: Vice City.I'm hoping the new GTA: IV will be much better, and from the looks of it, it certainly is visually, but I also hope it's just not release on only the PS3 and XBox 360, hopefully the PC or maybe shaved down version for PS2/Wii.
  4. I think I actually tried that one before lol, but the interface was a little daunting and cumbersome to get around at first.I might just give it another shot some time then.
  5. It's pronounced "char", well ok if you want the extra R fine, pronounce it "charr" then lol.Like (yes I hate to say it like this)..... "Charmander", yes the Pokemon, leave me alone >_<.Here's one you can play with "Integer", and it's not pronounced how it is spelt, mostly, it's like "Badger", so it's like a ger rather than gar (integer not integar), in terms of pronounciation I mean, as it's obviously spelt Integer.
  6. Are you aware that known mythological stories pre-jesus time can nearly exact the events in his story...... that kind of ummm yeah really shoots it out of the water.I can't say for absolute sure, but apparently the excuse to this day is that the devil though ahead (so basically planted these copy stories before his time).Pretty interesting, as well as a supposed gap between Jesus's time and the time of some others, where another man professing Jesus basically had no knowledge of almost everything that supposedly happened and believe any events all happened within the realm of gods, and then suddenly people are popping up with the other story..... lol.Not sure if this is on topic, but I was reading some random stuff and figured might have fun discussing little things like this.
  7. Yeah so I would have thought, but I did mention my missus is having identical issues with a 100% clean install and no patches what so ever...... that's the part I can't explain.
  8. Yeah I think it was peerguardian..... (even though HTTP it self is not set to block), and comes up some "CoreExpress" entry.I haven't ever had issues with it before..... guess I shouldn't just leave it open all the time now lol.
  9. Not sure, I got plenty of credits and have never gone low enough for it to be minus or even 0, the website it self also works completely, can login and all the php, mysql all update fine. Firefox nor Internet Explorer can get anything except Unable to connect, I tried port forwarding in my router (to no avail), I don't know about the ISP, but it worked once upon a time and I can't see anything as to why it wouldn't work (I don't have any other issues at all, except possibly for some games, but that's it). Although it seems to load up in a free web proxy, aside from obvious deficencies because it can't load it all up properly. Does this mean setting up a browser proxy could work for it? (does anyone know how I can configure a proxy to be used when needed in Firefox..... I haven't ever set one up before lol). EDIT: I have contacted my ISP and asked them if the issue with this port is on their end or not and if they can fix if at all possible, their pretty layed back and nice generally, so they should be able to do something for me when they can (though it is rather a bit late here), so I'll see if I can still get this proxy stuff going in the mean time, I mostly need it because I wanted to submit some software to a download site (for exposure), which are apart of my site (and listed on my site for members etc with SS and icon etc), their relatively small, but the download site wants links to a description page which I can't fix up at this point without CPanel access).
  10. Well firstly I never use firewalls lol. Secondly I haven't been able to access it in months (though to be honest, until now I haven't been fussed with it, so rarely tryed and put it down to trying at a bad time) And thirdly it always attempts to use port 2082 (it always has for me), has this changed........ lol. UPDATE: 2083 appears to not work either (not in FireFox, nor Internet Explorer, in which I have never tryed to access CPanel from, so there should be no cookie or session issues or the like etc).
  11. Ahhh I see, I have never used this application before, nice tip, it's not exactly informative, but it's certainly better than nothing. Here are the messages I can find so far: Hanging application msnmsgr.exe, version 8.1.178.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000. It doesn't seem to show any other entries (I guess it missed the others for some reason, or it doesn't bother for what ever reason (might have just closed itself rather than hang)).
  12. It's been quite some time since I have even tried, but all I am getting is "Unable to connect" in firefox. Also faqs.astahost.com is failing with the same message (main site url and forums them selves seem to work fine....), what is up with different parts failing (it used to happen several times a day with the forums), and it's random at which is working and which isn't lol.Well the forums haven't given me any issue in a long time at least.
  13. Somewhat true, but ones that aren't built specially for Icons, or have special extensive support seem to fail on what I need (good textual options and save transparency), even PS is no good.
  14. I'm looking for something (preferably freeware if at all possible), for creating icons for Windows XP generally (not sure if I need XP specific features) that has a focus on or very good tools to create purely textual icons of up to 64x64 at the very least (so it display reasonably well in explorer etc).I more or less want to create mostly textual icons, but nicer ones with effects and such that don't cause any transparency issues (like having a pink background and trying to anti-alias the text, only to have it screw up when the pink background is made transparent (leaving pinkish colours all about).Any ideas? I have done a little searching, but some of the larger contendors I used to see about, I can't seem to find via Google anymore (can't remember any specific names, but if I saw them I would remember).
  15. Hello,I have been using Windows Live Messenger for a couple of months now (I don't think older version ca be used anymore, and for some reason I couldn't anyway, can't remember exactly, anyway....), and have always on a daily basis (many times a day), having issue with it logging me out randomly (with no signs of hiccups or issue with my internet connection) or it just plain exiting on me completely out of nowhere, with no signs or symptoms of it occurring and I don't know until I actually proceed to hover over a minimized conversation or the task tray icon for it.As a first step, I would have possibly thought, that certain contacts on my list were using some types of character, or text/emoticon/display picture hacks causing the issue (which I have seen cause crashing issue before in older versions of MSN Messenger), however I only have 2 contacts these days which are both of my missus........ that and I set hers up and know what and how she uses it (nothing out of the ordinary, just a basic display picture, different font and talking in plain text and using all standard emoticons basically).Anyone have any idea what is going on? Is this a known issue (I haven't heard anything), oh and I do use a Polygamy patch, however my missus has suffered identical issues (at different times), and does not have this or any other patch applied to it.
  16. Very true indeed.Does it allow just text, or specific item types though?I think that would be the most useful, and best for all types of circumstances (maybe you want to focus on the plain text more), or just images etc.
  17. To stop a normal user from shutting down your application, like monitoring software used for children etc (my 5 year old sister can already use the net, run programs, find them even in hidden places, log into website and email, shutdown unwanted processed, and she's had next to no help in learning it).The thing with the program I am working on, is it's not impossible to remove and it doesn't do anything harmful by any means, it's meant for the owner of the computer who might want to know a little bit more definite information about what others are accessing it are doing with it.No different really than having a camera setup in a small or larger business to see what people who use your shop are doing (like shop lifters or plain idiots), etc.
  18. I think having to scroll in both directions is a pain and eyesore, were very used to scrolling the other way obviously and it does make sense.I actually don't come across too many sites (aside from flash and the like), that really stretch the boundaries even though I am still on 800x600 resolution, which is pretty good.
  19. Well I suppose my monitor ain't new, and don't have any money at all to buy a new one, but people even on 17inch monitors like mine go with higher resolutions, however I can't stand sitting in computer desk chairs, or sitting so close, so I can't go higher in resolution, or I can't read or see anything too well lol.
  20. Thing is, by hitting the keys or starting up a task monitor, aren't you making it become open by you..... meaning it can be closed by you and probably faked by a piece of software, if the direct approach doesn't work under a secure account. There is more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak lol.Mine technically doesn't "shut down" or "end" any tasks, it just closes them as soon as they open, to a point of speed where you would be lucky to notice it even showing up, you could catch, it but that would be useless, it goes too fast to do anything with it.......I made it a configurable option though (the program is password protected and has a special global key assignment to bring up the password dialog bog to re-open the visuals), it's only really meant if anyone that uses your computer is as smart as me and would know something is wrong and fix it quickly lol (well I still could anyway actually).
  21. I made my own code in Object Pascal, that hides my application from everything and renders taskman utterly useless, it is still there but it's shut down so fast every time it is run (and so is msconfig, among others) that it is impossible to close the application, remove it from start-up (due to how it is made) or do anything to it.At least not without a third party task manager to kill the process.Although my application isn't malicious (and I have taken some measure to insure it can't really be used as such), it's basically a key logging application, however it is built to recognise custom keystroke combinations (words actually), so you could trigger some basic events, or automatic internal logging of when certain words, phrases etc are typed anywhere from the keyboard input. This means you could catch out someone on your computer from typing certain "naughty words" or know if they are visiting "undesirable" websites etc.Anyway, once I get my old custom components back up, I can re-open the project and start work again and refresh my memory as to how I did it, someone might find it useful, the good thing is, while it would be difficult for the average user to stop it, with my particular combination, if you get a third part task manager, it can be taken care of quite easily.
  22. Yep, I always do it under my 800x600 resolution, but I have had no issue with higher resolutions as it's well centered for a larger fitting resolution (and can go smaller to reasonable extent), the only issue is text size, which people can change in the browser so fast with a quick key these days, it's practically non issue.
  23. And with how bulked up some browsers get, I wouldn't be surprised if 800x600 is still a preferable size to develop a site in.Although developing a site that can fit pretty small but expand well, is probably the most desirable effect across the largest audience I would think.
  24. You'd think so, but locally here I only know 1 person that pushes past 800x600, and some are even sitting on old 13inch CRT's with 640x480 lol.
  25. Yeah I have a SpeedTouch 530, but haven't been able to get it to work for the internet properly for some reason.I am using some Siemens Speedstream 4100/4200 or some such at the moment, and it is working fine, it has the same ethernet/usb setup and most of the same features, although it doesn't handle games well at all for some reason.
