I think the question would better suited to "what software keeps information about the user and/or acts upon that information when updating etc".There is no reason why a user should not be clued into how their private information is being used, it's illegal to take user information without them basically saying "yes you can".... as far as I know atleast.

Pirated Software: Legalised For $1/Copy In Indonesia
Chesso replied to nakulgupta's topic in Software
They get it for $1? and we have to pay over $100? if this story became well known I could imagine some very pissed off people would be more then happy to speak their mind....I suppose they can't just say you can buy it for $1 if you pirate it.... alot of people would be doing it heh. But isn't pirating (based on VHS) technically the distribution in an attempt to gain money as opposed to plain using it.... -
Einstein Quiz Can you solve this problem?
Chesso replied to doctor's topic in Science and Technology
I don't think that riddle thing is difficult it's one of those "could I really be bothered to sit here and think this through?" kind of things. And for me, I really couldn't be bothered -
Well i'm not m^e but iv'e been very much into computers since I was 16 (I am now 20), I have no certification of any kind but I could probably program circles around half the twits that do...I live on Government benefits (not much at all) and haven't worked since I was 16 and still can't find anything, trust me your world isn't over even mine isn't.I don't know much about your problems or education but if you really want to continue with it then just stick with it and don't give it up. Maybe it's not the best career but if you enjoy then as long as you can manage to keep yourself going at the end of the day then who cares eh?

Can't believe I missed this post sorry.Ummm if you mean like the language your'e button captions etc are in I would suggest using simple text files with all the text for your application that you load on application start and can simply change in a function if users want to load another language for the interface.Let's say English is the default and in your Languages directory you have a file called English.txt, if you have an option available to use say Chinese you would simply have a file called Chinese.txt that your program reads in and changes all the button captions etc to reflect this.Remember well though that this could pose a problem if text in English already takes up most of a controls width space as some words in other languages are fairly larger. As for the text file structure for the languages you could either have everything in certain order or just have identification such as:MyButton1=ExitMyButton2=Openetc...When reading in would simply check the left N characters of the line and check to see if it's for example MyButton1= so you know exactly what it is for if it does find it, then use the AnsiMidStr function to grab the text from = onwards.Hope this helps.P.S. Additionally you could visit http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/and make a post there, there is tons of experts who could help you with this and i'm sure could recomment some nice components that could make this easier for you if that's what you want.

I see no one has replied to this so I guess nobody really knows. I'm a Delphi developer myself but I haven't even bothered with database access and such yet.I would say it is most certainly possible if the client connects to a server on the other end that handles the database access and shouldn't require any special edition of Delphi. As far as I know Enterprise and the like just have more internet and database garbage added to it like Interbase and things like that.

What CPC Can I Use If Im Using A Free Host? ...
Chesso replied to coconut_ddd's topic in Online Advertising
I think Google is pretty good, I'm close to a payout so I guess we'll see if they honor or not, Iv'e heard stories, just hope they aren't true.CPC means Cost Per Click and google also has CPM which is Cost Per 1000 impressions (views). If you place your'e advertisements smartly and in the case of the Google Adsense Program colour the text based ads to intergrate into your'e websites theme they fit in quite well.I don't see why Geocities would be against it but then again they have advertisting of their own on user free sites don't they? so they might not be so firgiving about user placed ads. -
As far as i'm concerned they are all overpriced. I think Creative is more expensive generally than the Apple Ipod's aren't they? That might be their new portable video viewing devices I'm thinking of though.

Increase Hard Disk Speed In Windows Xp/2003
Chesso replied to AdityaKar's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'd say with decent amount and brand of RAM it would be ok but is it absolute that IRQ 14 is for the main hard disk? what about other hard disks? You can't use the same IRQ for multiple devices can you....? -
Just remember that thing's like cars and such were invented for the purpose of people not having to learn to build their own, can openers were invented so people don't have to manually attempt to open a can. So Microsoft built an Operating System to ease things for users..... considering what most inventions are for what is wrong with it?You can't wholly blame Microsoft for virus's and malware, it's not Microsoft that writes them, if someone wants to crack something silly bad enough they probably will.

Who Is Considering Switching?
Chesso replied to MajesticTreeFrog's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Are Apple doing the double button or more mouse thing yet?I used Mac's in primary school and of recent years at friends houses but personally I really don't like the machines themselves all that much nor the operating system, though iv'e heard they are going to be using normal PC hardware (like it will run on different hardware configurations and such) soon yeah? But I don't just use Windows for music and stuff, gaming is one and plus i'm a hobbiest developer in a language that is Win32 specific so I ain't jumping no where anytime soon. -
Internet Access On Airplanes. a good thing or a bad thing?
Chesso replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well personally I am afraid of heights and have never been on a place before and will hopefully never have to :(But that aside, for people that don't feel like sleeping on a plain trip or need to get some work done online or otherwise it's a great idea, if for some reason they require audio loud or otherwise they can just use headphones right?I don't see why this would pose any real social problems, I don't think many people socialize on a plane anyway.....And I don't know if it's available for portable computers or what ever such airlines will have available, but one of those screens or add-ons that make it difficult for someone to see what's on your computer screen unless they are directly infront of it would be a nice idea aswell. -
I'd be against it, I don't even like giving out my telephone number or home address to people I meet say at the skate park from time to time.I might not know them well but I know them in person locally, if I wouldn't give it to them why would I give it to some website lol. That's just me though.

Freewebs Going Down Hill my reason for switching
Chesso replied to anime princess's topic in General Discussion
Heh heh freewebs has been around for quite some time but in my opinion they have been going downhill for a long... long... time. I see they have finally added *some* features they had planned for who knows how long but they have restricted things aswell. -
Ruben your'e post wasn't exactly unclear but it wasn't easy to understand from a first read if anyone knows what I mean? i'm not sure what name they put on it, grammer or some such.Hell I never really learnt all about commas and things in writing it always confused me, i'm 20 years old and only in the past couple of years (on my own) have I begun to learn where I should and shouldn't use ' for example. When I was at school though most people learnt all that grammar and crap through story writing which is something I despise, I really just don't have the mind or patience for that sort of stuff.Either way iv'e finally learnt a fair bit of it so all is well

Mmm I wouldn't be too sure about that, normally they tell you to go and buy a new cd no if's and's or but's about it. I suppose there might be an occasion where you come across someone who actually cares to help you out.But I guess that's the same with many different businesses, you get ones that are rude and won't do bugger all for you and then you sometimes get ones that do their best at helping you out.Let's just hope you get a hold of someone who can be bothered to help you out lol.

I haven't really read alot of the posts in this thread but you have to remember there are people of all ages here so not everyone can use perfect spelling and grammar. There is also no absolute definite rule on using commas and such, it's more of a guideline much like indenting with programming, it's really up to the programmer (or writer in this case) where they decide to use it.Don't forget there is also the use of ; which is well, let's say a full stop is 100% breather, a comma is a 50% breather and ; would be a 25% breather or atleast that's how I see it.The whole short speaking of everything in online chat certainly doesn't help as the thread started said, I tend to avoid using shorter versions of words and such anywhere anymore.

Well with most hard drives i'm pretty sure they are magnetic though other possibilities are either already in play or are being explored as is to be expected.I'm not sure on the technical details and differents of CD writers with CD-R's and CD-RW's but basically it uses a laser to read and write from the disc (I think their called optical or some such?), And the difference between CD-R and CD-RW is that CD-R's can only be written once and usually last longer where as CD-RW discs can be written to multiple times but usually dont last as long.If anyone knows more indepth about how this all works I would be interested too, I always love hearing about how all this stuff works.

I have mine set off, I like to check it manually even if I do update anyway regardless of the changes. It gives me something to do and I know when it's been updated so as not to check too soon as waste my time and a little bandwidth.

Well if Elzear is your actual name I wouldn't be surprised. Looks more like a name of a character from an RPG though or atleast I think so anyway.

Ahhh so one changes the data stored and the other just changes the type of data stored.

Ahhh good better stability, after the 1.5.0.1 or so update and onward I noticed Firefox crashing fairly often all of a sudden which it had never done before (not even once).

It looks alright but it seems cluttered to me, thing's need to be spaced out or enlarged or something I think.I like the colours though they seem to feet in fairly well.

Guild Wars Vs Wow Looking for players who have played both
Chesso replied to DjCalvin's topic in Computer Gaming
I'm still angry at the loss of decent or even just a single player campaign mode. I played WoW for a little while just doing quests, I like a story even though it didn't make much sense it was pretty generic if even a story at all, more like alot of small missions that don't seem to have much to do with the other at all.Iv'e heard good things about Guild Wars and the fact that you only pay for the actual game (as it damn well should be in the first place) is what strikes it as much more interesting I think. -
Techno Anyone? Or is it called Electronica? Dance?
Chesso replied to Captain Jerry's topic in General Discussion
I'm not heavy on techno but lately iv'e been listening to some of the older stuff and I like it quite alot. This reminds me of that tongue add that go's rogue for the beer a bit lol. It's alright though I don't mind it.
