Heh, you're kind of in the same ballpark as me.I know absolutely nothing about PHP but I am wanting to learn for a project I am working on as well(Login for an entire site, where some is visible when logged in, some is visible if you are signed up, and everything is visible if you are an actual verified member)So far I haven't actually started yet, though, as I am currently working on other things.
-
I joined this site and all but it is just so much work...At 6500 searches for cashout...I mean okay, 6500 searches isn't much but if you really read about them, you cannot do repeat searches or anything. There are many times when I am researching that I may search the same exact keywords 10-15 times in a short period. More or less I start with one keyword and then move off to another until I lock down on the perfect sequence(hence research.)I would probably be banned for using this program because of that.So I guess if you only do a very moderate or low amount of searching I can see it working out for you, but if you are a heavy researcher it's really not worth the time.

How Do I Get Indexed On Google And Msn
rpgsearcherz replied to veightar's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm actually going through the same exact issues right now.More or less I put up a sitemap, and Google has already downloaded it.Google is on my forums daily, and my site shows up in google if I use the site: function. In webmaster tools, however, it still shows that I have 0 outbound or inbound links, even though many of my pages are already indexed.I seriously do not understand how the whole google indexing thing works I guess.Pretty much my goal right now is to get my site above PR0, and even with many inbound links from PR1-2 sites it is still PR0. -

Dominos Delivery Marketing Scam, You Got 30 Minutes
rpgsearcherz replied to iibbssee's topic in General Discussion
I must say that you made a very good find. It seems like all companies that are using those marketing tools have catches to them.A lot of places even stopped theirs. I remember things at local grocery stores where it was like "We will give you $5 if we fail to give you your receipt." Those lasted for a short period and then ended up becoming non-existant.A few even did things like "If we fail to check the bottom of your basket we will give you" and whatever extra they wanted to put there. It ended up getting pulled off their "honor" list because they weren't checking baskets if there was nothing there, and people learned that too quick.I think the issues with these things are not so much the people who are legitimately reporting things to get the rewards, but those who are doing it to cheat the system.Take Blockbuster for example. If you are looking at one of their "hot movies" and they do not have it in stock you can get a rain check and rent it later for free. So people will travel there daily or have friends that work there that will tell them whether movies are in stock or not and give them the free certificates. To me that is cheating the system, because it's meant for the people who traveled there EXPECTING to find the movie and did not. -
Paypal.. Safe Or Not? well is it?
rpgsearcherz replied to spawn_syxx9's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have very mixed feelings about Paypal..I guess it is safe to post my story here since this will be on topic. To start out, I had a Paypal account for over a year. I experienced not even one issue with them, ever. Never had any money missing, never got overcharged, or anything. So by this time I gain full trust in them. One day I wake up and check my account and magically I had over $2500 in there. Now I am confused as I only had around $68 the day before. So I go ahead and report it to figure out what happened to my account that I have this much(This was me being nice. I could have easily just withdrawn the money from the account.)After I do so, I am notified that "I" bought a laptop off Ebay and that the money was a return since the item was sold to someone else instead. Now this really confuses me so Paypal allows me and this person who "I" bought the laptop to speak to each other through Paypal. We do and he claims that I live in Africa or something...So I notify Paypal that this is all false and I'm not sure what to do because it's fraud or at least that's what it looks like. Paypal notifies me that it was 'taken' from my bank account, however cannot display the number or confirm it for me. They then decide that they can "fix" the situation. So they put a lock on my account. This then locked my original funds. So I call them up asking when I can withdraw what I originally had in the account. From this point they tell me that they need a positive identification. So I am only 15 at the time and can not do so. They let me know that now my account is going to be permanently locked and upon turning 17 I will be allowed to withdraw the funds. By this point I am extremely aggravated because I do not completely comprehend what is going on. They notify me that there is a minimum age to sign up.Now being that I am not new to the whole contract thing or anything I make up another mock account - without actually completing it, to see where it asks if you are 18 or older. It doesn't. So then I check out the Terms of Services. Wow, this also says nothing about it. Now I'm just confused as to what is going on so I call them again, this time with my mother present. She speaks to them and they notify her that you must be 18 or older to sign up, and that it should be assumed already and therefore there is nothing that we can do.Once I was 17 they required positive ID and stuff for me to withdraw still, and took about 6 months to send me the funds.I just kind of feel like I was screwed. I could have withdrawn 2500+ and had no issues with Paypal but due to me being an honest citizen I was penalized and I highly doubt they returned the extra funds to their owner.Needless to say I once again use paypal, mostly because there is no other choice for a lot of things. It's good for donations, selling items, buying items, etc. Ever since this issue(2 years or so ago) I have had no other issues with paypal either. So I mean, you can take it as you will. I had the issue listed above before, but since then I've returned and have nothing else bad to say. I just hope that I do not go back through another situation like that again. -
Eh, Acer I don't think really has a lot of support. I am not basing that off what I have personally experienced, but rather the lack of.Take Hewlett Packard for example. They are a very well known company based on what? Their support.I would honestly look at price after making sure that the company that sells it can give help for any issues you may come across. HP is one of the best I think, with Dell being one of the worst.HP will even help you with issues that are not related to your original configuration. For example you just bought a new video card and you're having issues getting it to work properly. They will help you out with diagnostics and whatnot, and if you need you can send it in to them for repairs(Not free of course.)There have only been a few times that I have had issues with their support, and it was more about their lack of knowledge than anything. Aside from that I would always choose HP over other companies.

Bob.com Sold For 1million Us$
rpgsearcherz replied to natalia.shvan's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You know, reading that made me think of something. I was always wondering why people would pay so much for smaller domains, such as the 3 letter ones.It never really occured to me that they probably like them because they can use them for URL redirection...I just really don't see any other possible reason as to why people are so obsessed with such small domains.I mean, if you look at it, going for, let's say "wmt" instead of "walmart" would not make any sense, yet for some reason people would much rather have the smaller one.Maybe someone that is here can enlighten me as to if I am missing something or if that is why these are worth so much. Also kind of annoys me that people make so much money off a real simple idea. Registering a lot of 3 letter domains? I never would have dreamed that they would be worth money in the future. There are people who try to register domains for other things as well for the sole purpose of selling. Most of them are like people who speculate game companie's next websites, such as "http://www.psxextreme.com/; or whatever. -
I would like to thank you for this list. I've been searching for different advertising alternatives but usually it's not that easy to find ones that are not PPC or whatever(Where you get paid when people click your ads.)I'm wondering though, how many of those pay by "CPM" and about how much DO they pay? I've heard of quite a few programs that pay like 3 cents per 1000 impressions. Even if I was getting around $1 per 1000 I'd be happy, as long as it is "raw" meaning that if people visit multiple sites of mine I get credit for all, not just the first site they load.Or do you know of any alternatives? I was looking at Google Adsense for quite a while but it seems that they pay very low and are cutting off way too many people so I will not entrust them with paying me.

Question About Framed Sites...
rpgsearcherz replied to rpgsearcherz's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I found a way that I can possibly take care of all of my issues, and even got the layout of my pages up and everything. My issue now is that I am having a very, very hard time getting the footer to stay on the bottom of the page. I have to manually keep dragging it to the bottom of every page that I make. Does anyone happen to know what I am doing wrong? Included is the code for the entire page. Thanks. -
Question About Framed Sites...
rpgsearcherz replied to rpgsearcherz's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'll definitely read up on that. In terms of why I am using frames instead of just having each page it's own, is mostly due to the issue of bandwidth usage. At the moment my site is using around 600 mb's a month due to forums and if I have the entire web page reload everytime they change pages it will drastically boost up that amount.Would it be possible to use CSS to have things only load in one window? That is pretty much my sole reason of using frames in the first place - I want the only page that ever changes to be the actual data - as reloading the footer, header, and navigation bar is useless. The only way I could think of doing that though was via frames, as it keeps each page separate. -
My understanding with ps2/xbox/etc. emulators is that they require so much CPU and all to run that it's just not feasible on current PC's. Quad core may be able to handle it but you have to consider that *all* ps2's are exactly the same, whereas all pc's are not. That could be a huge issue in determining how effectively you can run the emulator on your pc. I would must rather just either get the games on PC instead or just play them on my PS2.

How Long Does It Take For Google To Index Your Website?
rpgsearcherz replied to dwolters's topic in Search Engines
Wait, so this also means that theoretically you could end up with a PR of like 3-4 even if you are linked to nothing but PR0 sites, right? I know obviously it would be much, much easier to get a higher PR with higher links but I'm mostly confused because I have around 300 linkbacks right now and according to different sites I am still at PR0.So this isn't related to me being un-indexed by Google right now though? And I already sent in my link, last night. Waiting for it to hopefully get somewhere. I just hate being a non-factor, -
My dreams are usually weird...Sometimes I have funny dreams, sometimes scary ones..One that I remember pretty well was when I was younger and had a dream that me and my mother went into a theatre and while we were sitting there she went to get us both something to drink and eat...And while she was gone Freedy Kreuger came in and killed her and then me....This is what happens when little kids watch movies like that right before bed.I've had a few good dreams too where I owned lamborghinis and stuff....Mostly things that I'm working on in my future, although it may be hard/impossible to reach the goal I still set it high so that I will keep working to better myself. If it weren't for dreams I probably wouldn't think like that though, so I definitely have to say that dreams are awesome!

I agree with this annoyance and all but you have to consider that a lot of people who use sites like Myspace and Youtube are kids. The ones that aren't usually do not post there, or not that I've seen at least. You will rarely even see one post that isn't a flame at someone or something.I've pretty much just learned to ignore it and act like it isn't there. I mean there's nothing you can really do about it. This is one of the positives people find about anonymity on the internet. The fact that they can say and do things and nobody will ever know who they are.It would be pretty nice if there was an option somewhere in your preferences to where you could turn off the comments altogether though...Then you could ignore the kids, they could have fun flaming one another and acting like they're all big bad boys and whatnot.

Ups Vs Fedex A vent concerning postal shipping.
rpgsearcherz replied to Cerebral Stasis's topic in The Vent
This is a pretty hard question for me to answer. More or less I completely disagree with either company. It may just be where I live at or something that is causing all of the issues but here are my issues for both companies.1)FedEx often, often brings packages way later than the delivery date. The driver always has some off the wall excuse as to why it took him an extra 3-4 days and when I contact FedEx about it they always tell me that it was delivered and so he's good to go. Along with this, the closest FedEx place is about 30 minutes from me and so it's not like I can just go figure out what is happening with my package.Probably worse than this is what happened the last time I got a package. It was 6 days past delivery date so I call FedEx. They tell me to go to one of their offices, the one nearest me(45 mins away) to get the package if it hasn't been delivered. We finally get there and give them the tracking code and they tell us that it's on a "contracted truck" meaning that the driver does not directly work with them and instead is just contracted to go out and deliver packages. Because of that I was told that they have no way of figuring out where the package is or even who has it, and all they can tell me is whether or not it has been delivered to my house.A couple days later, and after many phone calls I found the guy pulling in to our driveway at around 8 PM and all he does is apologize about how he was busy or whatever and fell a little behind with the deliveries. At that point I was too happy to actually *have* my package to say anything to him.2)My issue with UPS stems from both things I know for sure happen there and things I have had happen to me by them.I worked at UPS for a few months during the end of the year, and so I got a lot of experience about how packages get transferred and stuff there. We were told to toss packages, stand on them to get to others, we sat on them to eat our food, etc. because our supervisors told us that "if it breaks, it's their fault for not packing it properly." I completely disagree with this because even being fully packed in there are many different things that can still be harmed when packages are tossed around. On top of that I had a package that was 'delivered' to me one day by UPS...But it wasn't. I called UPS to figure out what was going on and they told me that it was delivered into a truck. Well I didn't even have a truck. So they said they would research it and figure out what he meant by that.About 2 days later I get the package and it's opened. It turns out the guy didn't know anyone was at our house and for some odd reason decided that it would be "smart" to drop it off at our neighbor's house. Neighbor ripped open the package, opened the contents, etc. which bothered me.Needless to say, I will not deal with either company again. I've had little to no problems with USPS and I'm fine with them. -
Can I Go Back To School? (help and/or advice)
rpgsearcherz replied to thexxxsyn's topic in General Discussion
I just want to say that you should definitely go back. It may be harder now due to the choice of dropping out or whatever, but at the same time it will benefit you in the long run.I'm not sure if you mean that you did not finish high school, or that you did and just did not go to college. If it's about high school, you can still either take the classes or get a GED, and then you can go from there to college. Most jobs will still accept you the same, because just going to college in general shows that you have the initiative to make yourself a better person and to learn. Along with this, a lot of places won't even consider hiring people who have not completed high school.Regardless, your past may make the future more rough but at least you learned from it. I made a pretty similar mistake and it's hurting me right now to see how much work I have to do to overcome it, but at the same time now I feel like I'm actuall accomplishing something. -
Wow, I feel bad for your experiences man. I've been through quite a few web hosts myself trying to find a good one, but most either didn't work properly, lagged out, or something like that.I've always been sure to keep a full backup of my website though just in case something happens and it gets wiped for whatever reason.Trap ended up being one of the last resorts for me and so far it's going pretty well. My only complaint is some issues that I've been having with the SQL servers not working right here. Although this does happen, it's not really that often and it's still significantly better than most of the other hosts that I've been to.

How Long Does It Take For Google To Index Your Website?
rpgsearcherz replied to dwolters's topic in Search Engines
Awesome, I want to thank you all for the information as well. I added my site last night and thought it'd be instant. I guess I just don't understand how the whole "crawler" thing works. Thought maybe it was bugged or just that my site wasn't popular enough or anything. Will we still be indexed even if we are a PR0? And if we are not indexed is it possible for us to become PR1/2 right after being indexed due to the number of links that point to our websites already? I have quite a few linked towards me but am not sure exactly how Google counts all of them. Thanks in advance. -
Yeah, there used to be a lot of free programs for this kind of stuff...Doesn't MSN messanger still allow it? I'm not 100% sure on that but I'm pretty sure I saw a way to do it in there the last time I looked.Aside from that there's some thing a guy made..I'll have to find the link sometime, where you can actually get free long distance and the phone line is like $10 a year or so. It seemed too good to be true but after looking it up and all I found out it was legitimate.
-
Yeah, I have the same issue right now. I really didn't even know what phpnuke was until using the autoinstaller that Trap has...And now that I'm looking at it, I mean it does have a lot of features but isn't really as custom as I would like. You can't just go make different pages look completely different with only a little bit of code, or change things without a lot of work and whatnot. So I've pretty much decided to just go with phpbb and a normal website, and then put up a link to my forums. Can anyone explain how to get phpbb to show up on a web page though? I was going to do that before for some stuff but I didn't see options in the admin control panel anywhere and don't even know where to start for that kind of stuff.
-
What all is in this website you speak of? I have all of my stuff saved locally and it all refers back to the area of whatever page it's speaking of. For example, my navbar, rather than saying "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; it would just say "whatever.html"So for me I would just copy my folder over to a CD and everything would show up perfect, being that it's all in relation to where the file is currently at, and nothing else.Unless I'm misunderstanding what exactly you are attempting to do. This is what it sounds like though.
-
Hey all, I'm curious...I've been doing a lot of reading up on SEO and all and noticed my site is not "indexed" by any search engines. Could this be due to the frames on my site?At the moment my site's address is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ but I plan to move to an actual domain once it's close to being finished.Being on an actual domain should boost my chances of getting credit for SEO, right? And also, the main question here is...Can you check that out and let me know if you think it would be okay for indexing? It is split into 4 frames. One banner, one navbar, one main area, one footer. Should I set up a static starting page that just has a picture with something like "Click here to enter"?I'm really not sure how all of this works but I'm wanting to do my best to crawl up the ranks of google page rankings! Thanks in advance.(Note that the page is still in very early stages, so ignore the content itself, most of it is made up just to kind of show my guild what it will be looking like in the future)

I vote the Ferrari Enzo. Not only is it $2.6 million but you have to own 3 Ferraris of the same year before you can even apply to purchase one. There are only 500 created each year as well, and each gets it's own certificate of authenticity. There are a couple of other cars that are up in the 1.5-2 million range as well. Just find it weird that people can afford to spend that much on one car....Some of us will be lucky if we even earn one million in our entire life, much less one million dollars of extra spending money.
