Yes. The only problem is sometimes when nothing seems to work/look good for you. This happened to me yesterday when drawing... Lack of inspiration sucks. I erased like 30 sketches before coming up with something I found nice.

Oh too bad didn't know about this. But what happened to old videos which had more than 10min length? Are they still up? I remember watching awesome snooker tricks videos (some having more than 30min) in YouTube and Google Videos. Actually, I think I watched almost all of them. http://keepvid.com/ is really nice by the way... And I believe (theoretically, of course) that if you give away the copyright of you video when you upload, it should be no crime to download videos...

Windows Explorer Tips And Tricks
KDEWolf replied to soleimanian's topic in Websites and Web Designing
One other nice thing to do is selecting the desired windows in taskbar while holding Ctrl, and then right clicking any of them and closing all at once =) Very useful to clean up some serious mess. -
As finaldesign, there are plenty, but I suppose that:- Photoshop CS2- Miranda 0.5- Mozilla Firefox 2- Winamp 5.2- ObjectDock 1.2 Plus- Limewire PROare 'TEH PWNZ' here. There's also Notepad and Calculator that I use *a lot*, but since they don't count on this thread...

Hi demolaynyc. First I'd like to say that it's a very nice layout you've got there, really has a professional look. The best (though weird) way to know how much should you charge, is asking other webdesigners out there (in a level of knowledge next to yours, of course) as if you were a potential client, and see how much do they charge for certain stuff.I don't like much the per-hour charging, because I find it a bit unfair. Sometimes you have problems with a certain issue, and loses some hours of work, which is not fair for the client. Or in case you have most of the stuff pre-done in your computer, you'd tak much less time than doing it all from scratch. The way I preffer best is a mix of both. Something like the 'usual', using a fix pricing for each feature, plus the 'custom' (special scripts, extra graphics, etc), that would be charged per 'effort', let's say (hours of work/hurry/difficulty etc).I hope this was of any help to you. I'd evaluate your current site layout for probably USD $75-100, plus scripting, data input, etc would be $150-200 in total, but I live in Brazil and pricing may float quite a bit from country to country.

Link to Deviant Art Download A pack containing 33 icons (22 .PNG and 11 .ICO), of basically the same thing - Brushes and palettes. This was inspired somehow in Windows 3.1 Paintbrush program icon. It's so big and contains so many icons because I want people to be able to choose what best suits them. The palette right now is kind of crappy I know, but I'm bored with this and want to release it... maybe I revisit this later.

Hmmm I believe he needs more control than just this. He's willing (my assumption) to listen to various MP3 located on his brother's computer, from his own computer. I have the exact same wish (I don't want to waste both HD's disk space with the same music, what means quite a lot here). So I might try out these programs and search over the Internet for possibly better solutions.

Windows Explorer Tips And Tricks

I completely agree, I just stopped using Window 98SE because of all upcoming programs and games being release just for 2000/XP... also when I bought a new computer some years ago, it came with a XP installation, and I gave it a try. It was damn quick, awesome for hacking into your own system, for customizing system files... Those were pretty good times (also playing Starcraft =p). Power users felt very comfortable with it for the control they had on their system at those times, allied to the mainstream of programs and games being compatible with the system (unlike any *NIX systems at the time). Later on much of these 98SE users switched to XP, and the other 25%, let's say, went to check some Linux distributions out there, since it's more and more supported nowadays. But we can't forget the disaster 98 (FE) was... Maybe that's why SE came out pretty good. Microsoft sometimes needs good shakeups (like the ones suffered before XP Service Packs, blaster-like) to make some good programs (and later on these good programs pass no the next developement area, where they put all limitations and MS crap, making the sucky programs we know nowadays hehe...). I believe a well administrated OS is still the best, despite of it's name.

Renaming The Start Button In Windows XP
KDEWolf replied to sazz's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Hehehe I used to do this kind of thing (changing programs' texts) with Ultraedit since it's version 5.0.But later I found out it was generally much easier to do (along with other more things, like editing real program resources) with Resource Hacker. It's a free program, just run a Google search for it. You won't regret. -
Hahahaha this is kind of paranoid... I can't think of a way to break this scheme. But come on, Firefox alone does the job for most people.

Free Code Snippets And Css Layout
KDEWolf replied to TavoxPeru's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Nice, though there isn't much content, the CSS/PHP sections will probably help me on setting up my new website here in Xisto. I know so little PHP that even this pretty basic stuff might prove useful. But could have some more advanced content (and more in number as well). -
Hammer, axe, chainsaw, two-handed-sword (well, you never know what people have hidden in their stash)... It's up to you, actually. ;D

Whats The Difference Between Hosting At Trap17 And Astahost
KDEWolf replied to niran's topic in Web Hosting Support
I thought about subscribing to Xisto when I saw they had the same plans, but I found the community a little immature, and decided not to go ahead with it, even being easier to keep hosting credits. Xisto did fit more my forum needs.I just wished we had a bigger graphic artists base here... Let's just say I'd have a bit more to do when hanging around here. ;D -
All my following statements are based on Firefox 2.0 (version I currently use, much better than current 1.5 in many aspects). I agree completely with nightfox, and would like also to add some facts, like very useful extensions (irc chat, ftp manager, custom CSS styling, among many, many others), built-in download manager, much more control and less vulnerability against Javascript, built-in spell checker. Also it's almost 100% customizable. demolaynyc, I used to use Internet Explorer 5/6 for quite some time (after the 'death' of Netscape 4.7). It isn't that bad to a regular user, but that's because like 90% of web pages are made based on it. The big problem is that Microsoft, knowing this happens, started to make their own 'web standards', and completely forgot the international organizations. For web developers, this is complete chaos. Making a site for 4 browsers is terribly painful, since what works on one doesn't on another, and even worse, there are conflicts between codes. I'm stating this to make a point on how important it is to comply with today's web standards, as Firefox does mostly (and even it isn't 100% compliant as Opera). So basically IE isn't 'unusable', actually for someone who isn't a moron using computers, it can be pretty good, but there are plenty better options out there. I agree with your point about your computer being old, and Firefox really is heavier then IE. But there are other browsers like Opera that are much faster in loading pages than both, and isn't that much heavy. And no browser is that perfect, after all.

Half PC Does Not Support Windows Vista
KDEWolf replied to marretas's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't really care if they make it 100123% overloaded (as currently XP comes, and actually everything that comes from big enterprises nowadays, for example), if they give options to disable useless things and do not run them by default. Right now I have like 1/3 of Windows services disabled, and a lot on 'Manual' setting. This makes my computer really faster, almost as the 1st I installed my OS. In my whole life I've never needed to format HDs for computer slowness or anything related. Actually I did it just recently when I had an hard disk crash. My point is that if they let you disable gay eye candy (I don't even like Vista theme much, it's too overdone in order to obtain eye-candy. No way to look elegant), useless services that come by default, etc. I won't matter as much having bleeding-edge systems. Maybe even running pretty smooth on abhay's systems. But in case all this crap is mandatory... Then we've got a problem. Big one, I'd say. Well, at least us poor guys from 3rd-world countries sure... -
Who really cares... It's not going to happen anyway. And if it ever happens, I'm pretty sure we won't be alive to see it.

I'm also with number 1. It's the less 'noisy' and 'annoying' one. I found the other s too heavy and confusing, but sometimes this is the effect you do want to reach. Banner 3 is also pretty good, would be my second choice for sure, and their current dimensions are pretty good for a banner. In 5 and 6 you should set the tracking (space between characters) to a bigger number, they're all together. And banner 4 looks kind of lame...

Starcraft was the best RTS I've ever played in my whole life, and man, I've played tons of them. I'd like to point out this Total Conversion mod, Project Revolution. They're bringing Starcraft to the Warcraft 3 engine, as close to the original as possible. It's worth a look http://forums.xisto.com/topic/91008-topic/?findpost=1064354087

It just sucks buying a MiniSD for my current cell phone and later having to buy a MicroSD for the next one... or maybe it'll be NanoSD, who knows...

I proudly present Project Revolution. You can visit their website here. Project Revolution basically consists on creating a high-fidelity and high-quality Starcraft game using current Warcraft III engine (what's really hard, but believe me, the staff rocks). They got featured on a PC Gamer magazine as you guys can see here, and a note in the front cover! It's a damn good mod after all, and once it's done it'll proportionate hours and hours of fun to millions of fans worldwide. So, spread out the word and let everyone know! PS.: I don't work on it, though in very early stages I was somehow involved in the website development. As you can see, the site's banner was made by me ;P

From what I can see from the 2nd picture, looks damn good, but I can't really say it's possible to see much of it.They're all too dark, and putting it in a white background... It's an evil thing to my poor eyes. =pTry somehow brightening it up a bit, or posting a picture on a black background for better contrast.
