  1. It shouldn't matter at all as long as your site is still underground (rarely no one knows about it yet). However, if you get a lot of visitors to your site, then I recommend that you post a notice somewhere on the main page telling your visitors that there will be a change in the entire site in the next few days.By the way, what's the point of the "++" in this thread's description?
  2. I've had that problem, too. First, go to My Controls at the top, or just go to this URL: http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?&app=core&module=global&section=login&do=form. Then, on the left hand side, click on Email Settings, or just go to this URL: http://forums.xisto.com/index.php?act=UserCP&CODE=02. Check the Enable 'Email Notification' by default?, and in the drop down box below that, select No Email Notification. Hope that helped!
  3. odomike, please read all the posts before replying. If you had read the one above your post, you'd know that the problem has been fixed, and since it's fixed, I'm closing this thread.
  4. But linkmaster claimed that he got money in his paypal account....linkmaster, could you please take a screenshot of your paypal account with the money for proof?
  5. Umm, post count + 1? He just said he was 14....you can't get a job at 14 in the United States, man....
  6. PHP itself cannot generate music on the fly - not to my knowledge. First of all, the link that you are referring does not work due to massive hotlinking, but if it works, then it would first call the file (or script) "to_download.php". Then, the script would take the id number and find the corresponding .mp3 file for you to download. That's how it would work.
  7. Hmm, a little more than 3 bucks. Say, how long have you been using this service? Or when was the last time you decided to withdraw money from Paypal? I just wanna see if it's worth it to join in the long run.One last thing, don't you have to be 18 years or older to own a paypal account? *wink wink*
  8. *cough* "triskaidekaphobia" *cough* I don't think it Friday the 13th brings bad luck because it's sort of like the placebo. If you give someone a useless pill, they'll think that they're feeling better. It's all in the subconscience. I don't know...I guess that if you don't know about Friday the 13th, then you won't do anything really stupid that will result in "bad luck."
  9. Bah! Don't talk to her. Get one of her girl friends to talk to her. Get them to bring the subject of you up abruptedly in a conversation. That'll work better, and it's more discrete. It's sort of like using spies in the army system. But seriously, her friends will get more information than you can imagine. After you get the goods from her friends, then you can act based on what they say.
  10. Those are some good reasons, ashiezai. Are you sure that you're 18 or older? Because the terms of service of Google Adsense requires you to be 18 years or older in order to use their service....Also, did you fill out that tax return form with the correct information?
  11. That's because the United States president only makes $200,000 a year. Not much at all. The only person I know who would buy that is Bill Gate$, but he's already happy in his giant home that has a wall-sized plasma television.
  12. You don't really have to download anything to get the total lines of code. All you have to do is copy and paste your entire HTML code FROM Dreamweaver, open Microsoft Notepad, and paste it into Notepad. Then in Notepad, go to View -> Status Bar, point the blinking type cursor to the last line of your code in Notepad, and look at the status bar. It should say something like "Ln x, Col y" where x is the line that the cursor is on and y is the column that the cursor is on.
  13. Yeah, my Ubuntu Linux copy finally arrived yesterday - all 20 copies.
  14. 143906[/snapback] I already posted that (read my post). And what is up with your quote? That counts as spam because it does not have anything to do with the topic, but I'll let it go this time. You can put that quote in your signature, but using it in this post is completely irrelavent.
  15. Same here. Well, I don't have any guestbooks on my site because I think it does not look professional. I mean, go to all those geocities site that are built by preteens. Almost all of them use some elaborate background and a guestbook. Blech (in my opinion). But if I ever decide to get one from boredom, I will have to build one myself. Several reasons for this. First, no links to other sites at the bottom. I can put whatever I want in the guestbook, and I can safely say that I made it, and I can have the pride in that (little weird, but that's how snlildude87 rolls). Second, I can integrate it into my site without having it go into some weird place like the Viper guestbook. Hard to explain, but look at my site. If I were to install Viper, I would have some other page for the guestbook, and that page would not have my navigation bar. It'll look odd. Again, it's weird, but that's how I do. Nope. No one ever signs guestbooks unless they are your close friend or you're are someone famous. I just have a blog where anyone can come and add their comments and stuff (no one does that either - not on my site, at least )

    Good Computer?

Dell computer, in my opinion, are not the best kind. First of all, they are loaded as hell. I mean, they stuff programs in there that you probably will never use in your lifetime. As you know, the more programs that are on your computer only slows your computer down over time. Second, Dell computers use Intel Celeron processors. Ask anybody who knows a lot about computers, and they will say that Celeron processors are the worst kind of processors ever built. If you want a good processor, go with AMD Athlon 64. They are cheap, and they are definately worth your money. As for the computer question that this thread is asking, I'll say go with Alienware or build your own. Alienware are expensive, but since they are made your gaming, they should work like a charm for whatever task you plan on tackling. If you build your own, you will know exactly what you're putting in it, and if anything breaks down, you can always go return that particular part and get a new one - no need to get a new computer. Second, you will gain a lot of experience in that process, so if later on in life somebody asks you to build one for them, you can do it. Third, you can customize your computer to your heart's desire if you decide to build your own computer.
  17. First question: The link that BuffaloHELP provided is not the most current post (that post was made in January of this year). The most current one says that you are to have more than 4 hosting credits for your hosting account to stay alive. There is a script that runs every hour or so that checks everyone's hosting credits, and it suspends accounts that have less than 4 hosting credits. If your account is suspended, then all your files are safe on Xisto servers until you can get 5 or more hosting credits at which time the script will automatically unsuspend the account. However, once your hosting credits reach -30, then all your files are deleted from Xisto servers and are not recoverable. That means that your account has been terminated. This is the more recent post that I was alluding: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/8717-fair-warning-is-given-to-all-hosted-members/ Second, the PHP version that Xisto uses is always the most recent one, or in this case, it's 4.3.11. Hope that summed everything up.
  18. Nope, Xisto does not give out hosting credits to free members - all members must earn hosting credits from 0, and like you said, it's definately not hard at all to gather hosting credits especially with all the threads that are created at Xisto.By the way, welcome to Xisto, and enjoy your stay.
  19. Nils' post here might be able to answer your question: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/8717-fair-warning-is-given-to-all-hosted-members/
  20. You should know better than to go to crack websites. I'd just buy the actual program and save yourself the grieve of ridding your computer of all the stuff implanted on your computer.Anyways, if it's not going to be a problem, the only thing that you can do to fully get rid of all the bad stuff that that site put on your computer is to format your computer. First, back up everything. Second, format your computer with a boot disk that came with your computer. Your computer will run much MUCH faster once it's formatted - trust me.
  21. I was going to suggest something along the line of using a string replace in PHP to replace offensive words with asterisks and the like, but the problem with this is that you absolutely cannot filter all swear words because users can still use 1337 to bypass all the words that you've blocked.I suggest using the script that Hmmz has provided and monitor whatever the user sends to you for a couple of times. Then, you can change the script to include more words as necessary.
  22. I'd like to be in your affliation program, too, and I think that I'll contribute quite a bit of traffic to any sites linked with me (sorry if that sounded a little bit too arrogant): The problem is that I don't have a button.... If you want, you could add me as a text link, and I'll add you once you PM me or notify me that you have added me to your site. Edit: Changed the picture link to display the pic instead
  23. First off. Welcome to Xisto! Hope you have fun posting, and remember to not do anything against the rules. Once you get your hosting here at Xisto, there is a very valuable feature that we have called cPanel, and in there, you can modify every aspect of your site with a click of a button. In cPanel, there is something called "Fantastico" which includes all kinds of neat things that you can put on your website such as PHP-Nuke, Nucleus, Coppermine Image Gallery, Geeklog, and MANY more. You can select to install Geeklog, and it will do it in about 1 second. After that, it will show you how you can configure Geeklog, so other people can view your website. Good luck! Go here to learn about geeklog: https://www.geeklog.net/
  24. 5 gigabytes for bandwidth is already offered...if you have package 2. In order to get package 2, you have to collect 30 hosting credits, then, you can apply for package 2 here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/174-free-web-hosting-account-upgrade/. Good luck!
  25. I'm not a big Linux user, but I plan to be in the near future, so I don't know a lot of Linux distros, but I remember running across a very small linux distro once: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ It's 50 MB according to the site's title.
