  1. lol... i hear ya... it can get frustrating, but why bother with registry edits and hax and such? go to a website u like, click the Tools tab on Ie, click Internet options, and in the homepage text line, click the Use Current button... saves all the time and hassle, and accusations of hijacking...
  2. Ok, I wouldnt say that much really scares the hell outta me... I mean, from Heights to death, not much does it for me... Though, when I think of things that actually do scare me, 2 things come to mind... and they are as follows:1) Spiders2) Those animal costumes (like the ones who walk around in Disney World...)... i mean honestly... what on earth is creepier than grown adults wearing full size/over sized stuffed animal costumes, walking around, acting like fools, and talking to/touching/giving things to little children? and that fake little smile that the costumes always have... to kids looking at em, it may look like its a happy go-lucky little bunny/other furry woodland creature, but when I look at em, its like hes thinking "oh yea, wtf now? just make sure u dont turn ur back when im around!"...I dunno... but thats my 2 cents...
  3. Well, I guess I am going to have to go with some of the other people's opinions on this one... After reading that file, I am surprised I dont find myself in disbeliefe, or awe... Fact of the matter is this really... The government does alot of things that they intend for the public to not find out about... Some we actually do find out about, and some we dont... in my opinion, if the governent really wants to find out what your PC habbits are, and what you are up to, they will... They can do it by whatever means necessary, but they will figure it out... If anything, I am shocked they chose to go by such a slow method as requesting the help of PC Techs at repair shops... They have their choice at getting court orders (and other law abiding ways), requesting help from repair techs, simply going in and taking the stuff, because the public generally chooses to ignore those people we call "weird/crazy" who claim the government is full of conspiracies and unconstitutional acts, or even simply using some of their own computer dudes to find loopholes in the security software (because no matter how advanced a program is, it ALWAYS has loopholes and backdoors), hacking into your system, and getting whatever they need first hand... Fact of the matter is, like I said before, if they want to know what you are doing, they will find out... and usually pretty easily... but, if you arent doing anything wrong, then 1) there is no reason to worry, because they obviously wont find anything, and 2) they wouldnt spend the money and resources needed going after someone's information if they havent been known or thought to have done something wrong... so here's my tips to you if this concerns you... either pack up the PC and get rid of it (about the only way to truely hide what you do on it, simply not have it), or be responsible and dont do anything wrong... because if you do, and they suspect you and feel the slightest urge to find out what you are doing, I can almost guarentee they will...
  4. haha... ok, if you install geeklog on your site, go to your web url, and log in, down at the bottom, in Prefferences, you can choose which skin loadout you want... but it only selects it for you... to get it so that everyone views it as that skin, I had to actually look through quite a bit of php code, and make a few changes... if I can remember where I went and what lines i changed, I will PM them to you so you can do it... but to get it like that, you must change the page coding, then disable the option in user prefferences that allows the user to select their own... it sounds complicating, but it wasnt so bad... ill send you a PM of what to change things to, etc in a lil bit...
  5. ok, new problem... you can disreguard the above issues... So far I have figured out the following... >Page Colors/format >Plugins >Filemanager issues >etc... My new problem is this... my site is nearly done, and located here.... However, once you go there, you will notice my only remaining problem... on the horizontal menu directly below the logo image, at the very end. My Plugins for FAQ, Forums, and My Downloads were supposed to create one link only... however as you will see, created two... I have searched through the PHP coding for every page I can think of, including the index.php (which is the file for that portion of the site), but I cannot find where to change it... any ideas?
  6. Ok, it is a geeklog issue... I only mentioned CPanel, to explain what I meant by FileManeger... and just FYI, there is a PM plugin for geeklog... There are also many other plugins... I have all the ones I need thus far... but there is a PM Plugin... it is listed here... All I want, is pretty much a free version of this... I know one is out there, because my brother in law had it, however he doesnt recall where he got it from, and I havent been able to find it... thanks for the info however about the editing files... I was planning on trying that, but didnt want to screw something up...
  7. ok... yes, yet again another few geeklog questions... Ok, to start things off, I finally got the plugins working, and they are going great (thanks to a few mods )... Ok, now onto the questions... Firstly, would anyone be able to provide me a link for where I can find a free PM (personal message) plugin for geeklog? I have tried googling it, but all that appears is pricey ones... Nextly, this may take a geeklog user to answer... but When logged in as admin on the site, or even in my site's FileManager (CPanel), where do I go, or what do I do, to set a specific background for the Site, so that it loads a specific background, not whatever the user chooses? Next, How do I change the banner image at the top of the page? And lastly, How do I change it from saying "Welcome To TeamCovertOps.Trap17.com, 'user' " to "Welcome To The Home Of Team Covert Ops, 'user' "? well, any info would help... (lol... yea yea, i know ur tired of me NilsC, but hey, whatever gets the job done, aye?)
  8. yes, ive got all the data from it i need stored on my PC... so if you can, plz reset it and i can attempt this venture again now that I know what not to do... again, i appreciate the help... and now that I know which folder to put it in without messing everything up, ill be a little more careful, and hopefully it should work....
  9. ok, so what should I do? go to my home port (just the /), create a public_html folder, then insert a geeklog folder into that, and then follow the instructions in the plugin from there? would this work?
  10. hey, one of the plugins is Chatterblock (i have the files if you would like them)... Ok, in my File manager, this is all i can find as far as where it is installed into... /.fantasticodata/Geeklog/ though I cant find out what goes before the /.fantasticodata... if I can find that out, I should be able to get it to work... the path to my geeklog page is below... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Also, if it would be easier or quicker, u can contact me on AIM at SilverSoldierTT
  11. no... its free and comes with your free site with Xisto once you recieve it
  12. actually, I have the plugins, and they came with instructions... on the geeklog site, it says to follow the instructions included with the plugins... i did that, and as soon as i get to the last step, where u go to the url for the Install page, it wont load because the URL is wrong... Because of the way the File manager is setup, it wont load... how do I find the URL of one of the pages listed in the File Manager? Also, I will attempt those instructions, but with the URL issue, id imagine the same problems...
  13. This could really go either way.. If you are new, frontpage is the way, simply because its easier to use... However, Dreamweaver tends to offer a more professional look once you get the hang of it (which if u try, really doesnt take too long)... I personally use both. I use Dreamweaver to make most of my sites, because it offers more options, while at the same time, for things such as clipart images and rollover buttons, I use frontpage simply becuase it offers more options to choose from, instead of just using images you already have on your PC... the choice is really yours to make ultimately, but thats my two cents about it...
  14. once you get your server, go to your CPanel... from there, go to fantasticodata... and then click the Geeklog link, and click install... it installs it into your site... i take it by the lack of responses that no one knows how to install geeklog plugins?
  15. Geeklog is basically a PHP template which you can install into ur site using Fantastico in the Cpanel... anyways, plugins for it are like Forums, a chatterblock (like the shoutbox), etc which u can install into geeklog, so that there are no adds, etc, while at the same time it is literally incorporated into your site, with no adds or anything...
