  1. Umm, that doesn't make any sense at all. If I give up 6 apples, and I decide to take the 6 apples back, you do not have -2 apples. You have 0 apples. There is no way to end up in the negatives if you take away everything. By the way, I reported this post to the admins. Edit: Nevermind. Problem solved -> thread closed.
  2. If you leave for 3 months, I'd get get at least 95 hosting credits. There are approximately 90 days in 3 months (30 days in a month * 3 months). However, since your account gets suspended if you have less than 4 hosting credits, 95 would be safest. (95 - 90 = 5).
  3. Actually, no. Xisto uses PHP version 4.3.11 and mysql version 4.0.22.Check your cpanel again.
  4. No, no, no. Once you get your hosting account, your "hosting credits" are then called "hosting credit days". That means that you lose one hosting credit per day - regardless of what hosting package you have. If you have package 1, you lose exactly 1 hosting credit each day if you do not post for that day. Same thing with package 2. If you do not post for 24 hours, and you have package 2, then you still lose 1 hosting credit for that day.1 hosting credit is lost each day if you do not post for that day.
  5. Yeah, it is the browser. Tables are rendered very differently than other HTML objects because the browser needs to read all the values in the table (about 1000 in your case) before it can display the table.I would recommend using the <div> tag and CSS to achieve the look of a table. That way, the browser will display each value as soon as it's done rendering.
  6. Welcome to Xisto!Mathematics was my thing until my freshmen geometry teacher ruined it for me. Now I hate it, and I have to take Advance Placement Calculus BC next year, which I'm dreading as the days move by.However, I love programming. I've been doing it for about 3 years now, and I know more than 5 different programming languages. Hopefully, I can impress some company later down the road and get a good job.Anyways, have fun here at Xisto, and good luck on your school work.
  7. MechVegita, you have to use a better thread title next time. This is your verbal warning.Problem solved -> thread closed
  8. Thread closed. Swedish Horror, please check to see if a similar topic that you have in mind has already been created, and with this common topic, chances are that it has: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21406-saint-michael-poll-html-editors-the-best-special-edition-html-editors/
  9. First off, I would give you a warning for flaming hulunes and everyone else here at Xisto, but you are leaving, so that would be completely useless. Now, to respond to each aspect of your post: Like I said, the flaming is completely uncalled for You have to remember that this is one of the VERY FEW good and reliable free hosts out there on the net. As you may know, nothing is free in life. In order for this forum to stay alive, we depend on lots of members, and we have that. The better hosting service we provide to all our members, the more visitors we will get because the members will tell their friends, and words will spread. The more members we get, the more money we will generate . When that happens, Xisto gains more money and is able to provide better hosting packages. It's all reciprocal. Instead of asking for your money, we ask for your time (5 minutes a day), and just to give your opinion about a particular subject, or just to help a member out. It's not hard at all to get hosting credits. Take a look at all the good free hosts that do not ask for anything in return. What trend do you notice? They all went down within months. Ask Nils for the lists of those hosts. You might recognize a few of them that you have tried yourself. Several things here. First, we are not reverting to the hosting credit system. Reverting means going back. Xisto initially used post count in exchange for free hosting. Now, if Xisto used hosting credits originally, then your remark would be correct. It's all about word choice here. Hosting credits ONLY eliminates those who are not willing to make decent posts. They eliminate spammers. They eliminate those are are impatient. They eliminate those who do not understand that there is nothing free in the world. They are the people who we try to weed out when we created the hosting credit system. The people who I just mentioned are not every single human in the world, is it? How is math and "post or you're on" related? Math is 1+1 and sin(3*pi/2). It has nothing to do with posting. Now, there is math involved in the hosting credit script, but I don't think that's what you meant. Also, you don't have to post every day in order to stay alive. We give you a period of a month to be idle and still have your files intact in our servers. After a month of no posting, then you're gone. Why? If we do not eliminate those who do not participate in the forums, then everyone would take advantage of our services because one wouldn't have to do anything - not even post. What would happen then? You guessed it. Xisto would no longer exist. Are you implying that our members do not have a life?? We have a handful of hosted members who are well over 18, have a job, and still find time to come and post. School and/or work does not take up 24 hours, now does it? I have friends who have an active social life, who are taking Advance Placement classes, and who have work, but they all find time to come online and talk to me. Posting should not be like a job to you unless you're a moderator at this forum, and you're not a moderator. All you have to do is make a decent sized post, like the one that I'm quoting, and you should gain about 3 - 5 hosting credits. Enough to keep you idle for a work week. One last thing about the quote above, your hosting credit refreshes/renews instantly - you don't have to wait around your computer for the time to come back. Again, back to the old proverb that I have been using. "Nothing in life is free." That includes running your own server. Why do you think companies charge upwards of $50 a MONTH for a decent server? That's because if you plan to have loads of visitors to your site, you will need a reliable internet connection - one more than 10 times faster than DSL or Cable internet. Do you know how much those cost? Google "T1 prices" or "T3 prices" to find out. And an internet connection is not even important. I see you're the president of some company. Kudos. Ever think what would happen if you made enemies? They would find ways to hack your server and deface your company website completely. That's why you need a good firewall and security to go along with it, and finding the right firewall to secure your website can be costly. I believe he was using sarcasm as a literary technique to emphasize a point - that you did not provide anything to prove your point. If you want somone to believe something after you made a point, you have to use examples to back it up. Anyone in this forum will agree with me on this.
  10. First, please use a more descriptive title the next time you have a question. It's for your benefit because more members will see the questions, so you will likely get more responses. Now to answer the question. PM a member called daman. He made an email service for his site once, and it worked. He should be able to help you get started.
  11. I think I know what you're talking about. These two programs that I have created should help you: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. Good luck!
  12. You have one now, don't you?
  13. Wrong. If you want more space and bandwidth, go to Xisto - Web Hosting. They have a large array of hosting packages for everyone. When I get a job, I'll switch to Xisto - Web Hosting right away.
  14. Yeah, that's how you do it. The reason I know is from the many Home Land Security indicators that are online. Search for them and look at the code that they give you.
  15. I don't know if this is spam, but a .asdnf domain is NOT a registered ICANN domain. Also, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ does not belong to anyone at Xisto. Did you try installing phpwebsite on YOUR Xisto domain??
  16. No offense, but that's not a good idea. When you increase webspace, you have to increase bandwidth. Think about it, you need all that space for a reason. Whether it's to host files for your friends, or to store a forum, the amount of bandwidth you will use when you have that much space needs to increase. I mean, right now, I am using 2379.28 / 5120 MB (and I do not offer .mp3 files to download) of my available bandwidth. With your hosting package, my visitors would soon leave my site because they would not be able to view it. Anyways, making a new package is hard work, which is why the admins decided to go with 2 rather than the 4 original hosting packages.
  17. There are a bunch in cPanel's Fantastico. I personally like Nucleus because the name sounds cool, and it worked the first time I tried it. That was also the first I tried, so I can't really say much. Also, I like how it can make your site look extremely professional if you have no idea what you're doing. However, if you do know what you're doing, you can code the templates to fit the rest of your site - which is what I have done. http://nucleuscms.org/ is the official website if you wanna look at it.
  18. Liinda with two i's? Interesting.Wow, I think I'm seeing a trend. So far, the first person is 5'8". The second person to post is 5'6". Now, the third person to post is 5'4". What's even weirder is that I'm Asian, too. There is another asian on the moderating team...whyme. I wonder if he's 5'2".Anyways, have fun here at Xisto, Liinda. See ya around.
  19. Yeah, a shoutbox wouldn't be that hard to make. All you have to do is store the shouts into something, such as a database, and call it up whenever the page with the shoutbox loads. I can definately make one, and I have been using PHP for only a month.I'll try to make one after I take my SATs next week, but I'm afraid that no one will use it....
  20. I've been seeing a whole bunch of sites that have a Statistics corner, and in there, there are things that says "Users Online:", "Page Loads:", "Unique Hits:", and "IP:". Well, I was wondering, where do these users get one of these nifty things?I know that PHPNuke offers one, but most of the sites that I go to do not use PHPNuke.Any reply is appreciated.
  21. You can make all your pages php and use the include function. [html code here]<?php include("nav.php"); ?>[more html code]In the nav.php file, put the HTML code for your navigation bar. That way, when you want to edit something in the navigation, you can just edit nav.php, upload it, and the entire site will change with it. Good luck!
  22. Your site does work. Try http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or try http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/Index.html. The problem is that capitalization in the URL
  23. There is no way of merging credits or transfering credits on Xisto to Xisto of vice versa. The reason for this is that the two forums are hosted on different servers, and it would be almost impossible to transfer the information from one server to the other (I may be wrong on this). However, you are free to post at Xisto and Xisto as much as you like, but the only limitation is that you can only get one hosting account from either forums. That means that if you have a hosting accoun at Xisto, you cannot get one from Xisto. If you have one from Xisto, then you cannot have one from Xisto.
  24. I agree with 20inches. If you made the article/tutorial, then you have every right to post it in any of these forums without using the quotes tag (meaning you can get hosting credits from it). An example is all the articles found in the Creativity forum. However, if you find a tutorial on a site that you DID NOT make, then you have to use the quotes tag when posting it on Xisto. When posting something that you made, make sure you include a big note saying that it's your article in case any of the staff members (including myself) find it online and claim that you did not make it.

    Yahoo

My best guess is that Yahoo bases its rankings solely on the content of your site. I know this because I have a page that is over 100 KB, and Yahoo loves it. About 500 visitors get to my site from Yahoo everyday.
