  1. [Note, this isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but just a general rant] Here's the things that help that are out of the control of the youth: Consumerism and idiotic parents. Everything else is solely their fault. You live in a poor neighborhood? Well that's too bad, doesn't give you the excuse to get high. You see everybody on TV having sex at whatever time they want? Alright, just don't complain to me when you don't know s*** about pregnancy and you've changed 2 lives forever. You want to get yourself the iPod because everybody has it and you just want to pump noise into your ears but your family earns squat? Get over it you freakin candy a**. Your friends all smoke pot and then the magical "peer pressure" beast stuff a blunt in your mouth, completely against your will? You know what, I don't even have a comment for that without getting banned... Most youth today are under the illusion that the world rotates around them and honestly are a bunch of retards. I congratulate those of you who go against the wave of 'stupidity = instant popularity' and actually value intellect. Even though I was born in Ukraine and came here when I was 8, I'm very much an American, although missing the current trend by a mile. I apologize for my language, not my usual self, but I felt like I had to get that out of me because this is something I feel very strongly about.
  2. Internet Explorer and safety should never be used in the same sentence. Lol, who, the HaX0rz? So apparently, a remote is required? Lol. Exactly, the BSOD (or the equivalent) does that for you! How neat!
  3. You could write a book about it and still not answer it, but the most common are: OS is crap, you can't program, and finally, your hardware doesn't like its neighbors.
  4. Actually, neither of them do, Apple just modifies it to be specifically for Apple. Apple has no right to create NVIDIA or ATI video cards, it just buys the chips and makes the rest.
  5. You should contact James Randi then, he has a $1,000,000 reward for anyone who can demonstrate senses beyond our normal capabilities. Link. Write back and tell us how you did.
  6. You'd get confusion from most people if you mention Linux, maybe even Mac. Most people are just too lazy to actually investigate the differences between the OS's themselves and assume that 'big brother' knows best so Vista is the way to go. Nobody makes you read it, it's just there, and it will always be there. And most comparisons aren't interested in claiming others copied it, they're mostly out there to try and inform people that there's other options. It's like saying "Alright everybody, lets get us a new idea in the next 30 seconds, never thought before." People are bound to make things similar to the things that inspired them.
  7. Obviously that depends on how good you are with each of the tools. I do fine with video editing in Ubuntu with open source programs, but I doubt they're made like something you're used to, but hey, they're still free so why not try some out: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I doubt that's all of them but it's a good list to try.
  8. Well that covered Russian and Ukrainian as well, spelled the same and mean the same from what I can see.
  9. I have a hard time imagining people using digits above trillions in everyday life.
  10. Really? Is that so? Well that's a shame since most games today will take all that ram away and you'll be using your oh-so-fast swap file. Or not. Well, unless you want crap. Even though it does I still wont get it. Please tell me why I would knowingly install a hog onto my computer. What kind of magic is it able to do since it requires so much? Or not. You'll be hating your wallet later. Also, I love how your post says and then later it says I just find that hilarious. Oh, and welcome to Xisto.
  11. How well do you know Linux? Slackware has a bit of a reputation for being a harder distro to use, I recommend something a lot simpler like Ubuntu, I'm sure it can still get the job done just as well.
  12. Vista is a scam, just like DirectX 10. False comparisons between DX 9 and DX 10 and pretty much a requirement that pre-build systems come with Vista have a big effect on the computer-illiterate people. There's no reason why DX10 can't be on XP besides the fact that they'd lose money on both software and the fact that people won't have to upgrade/buy better computers.
  13. Don't forget LinuxMint, I've heard very good things about the hardware support from that distro, and I think I've read somewhere that it's a lot like Ubuntu. I myself use Ubuntu and I love it, it's Debian based and has a huge community supporting it, I would get that if I were you.
  14. Sorry, but it's your fault you didn't search around and try to find better deals. As I see it, it was fair game, they post the price, you liked it, you bought it, they don't have to tell you there's better deals it's your responsibility to find out.
  15. Dell is already selling computers with Ubuntu Linux pre-installed. I seriously doubt it will ever happen. Linux was never meant to be a free Windows, and I doubt it will ever become that, and I'm quite happy with it. If it suddenly gains that much power, then it's bound to get corrupted like Microsoft.
  16. This was mainly put forth because of the Progressives.
  17. Doing something and thinking to yourself "I've done this/been here before," ect. without actual prior experience. Personally I think it's just a bunch of crap or a poor memory, I've never experienced anything like that. I'm guessing the reason why the definition is so vague in the first place is that they don't know what it is themselves, making me believe it's a bunch of crap.
  18. Right, but I think if they were told that they could save X dollars just by switching the OS and being able to do the same exact stuff that they do on Windows, they might reconsider. It's just that they're more familiar with XP/Vista and expect free things to be crap. Also, it may require a bit of knowledge about technology, but in a society where intelligence is looked down upon, you're outta luck.

Nice try, anything not yours has to be put in quotes.
  20. Emulation with 3d is next to impossible. All the DirectX functions/calls and the Windows API calls have to be translated to OpenGL and a sound library like OSS or ALSA. Also, the majority of those games I listed can be run on Wine, which is free, supports many more apps/games than Cedega, works in pretty much the same way as Cedega, but in more of an actual "Win. API/DX library" way, and is better in my opinion, so Cedega isn't required. I can imagine no situation where a game can play in a not normal manner and not crash If it doesn't run normally, it wont run at all. DirectX/Win. API translation has to make the software run exactly as it would on Windows, which isn't complicating in theory, but all kinds of crap can happen. Trust me though, you can play many major titles that'll work perfectly and run at appropriate speeds with Wine. That's the thing, most computers that have Windows are pre-built. My beauties are by yours truly. Yep, when it comes time to upgrade, have fun shelling out $400 (or a bit less) bucks for something costing 15 cents to manufacture. Oh, and don't forget new hardware, because DX will never be supported fully be older hardware. Well, it's not that it can't, it's just that they have to rip people off somehow to get more money, so they go out and create "comparisons" to show that DX9 sucks and DX10 rocks by convincing people that if you render a simple forest in DX9, it's just that, but when it's in DX10, somehow everything magically receives HDR lighting, better shadows, a new skybox (or dome) texture, and better geometry, with no extra code or media required. Just look at OpenGL, you don't need to keep buying new cards just to keep up, new versions will support your video card (I'm not 100% sure about OpenGL 3.0, but I'm fairly certain the trend will continue) without making you upgrade. A dual-boot option may also be used, but I only use XP to play games, I need it for nothing else, really.
  21. Just do some research, google each of those games, doing stuff like "Battlefield 2 +Cedega" (unfortunately you have to pay for Cedega, 5$ a month I think, but if you're serious about Linux gaming, then there's nothing better) or "Battlefield 2 +wine (or winehq)", although Wine doesn't run BF2 perfectly at the moment, I think they're pretty close to it since the only problem is overhang (sky looks weird, somehow affecting the ground too, making spots transparent). I can't guarantee that each of those games will run perfectly for you, but most of them do for me after a bit of tweaking that I got from winehq.com and just general google searching. It really is worth a try, if you got questions, post them here or email me (on my profile), I'll try to help out as best as I can. I just happened to have very compatible hardware with Linux and it made things very easy, so I'm not sure if that's gonna be the same with you.
  22. It's way too early to use Vista yet, I'm pretty sure you can get everything you need on XP right now and for many years to come (I'm guessing you run XP though). It's a complete resource hog, and in my opinion, is part of a scam involving DirectX 10. Ever try things like Windows 98 or Windows ME? Those wonderful products used to only crashed about 4 times a day on my older pc, which definitely met the recommendations set by the OS.
  23. Quake 4, Doom 3, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Battlefield 2 (especially if you got Cedega, but you need to pay for it, pretty cheap though). The first three are supported natively, CnC can use Wine or Cedega, and Battlefield 2 is buggy on Wine but runs perfectly on Cedega, from what I've seen.
  24. One of the last people to actually write his own speeches (mostly) and respond to questions that weren't pre-planned was Kennedy. Most candidates don't speak their mind, everything they say wasn't written/thought of by themselves, they just tell the people what they want to hear (top candidates included for sure).
  25. ALZip: Wow a zip system, choose another one of the multitude that exist and do the same thing. Stepmania: Haha are you for real? Look on their website, it's natively supported by Linux so you don't even need Wine. Link. Even then, the game was getting a Platinum compatibility rating over at winehq, which means it works perfectly.
