    Computer Errors

I really don't understand why you don't install Windows XP. Yeah, it's still made by Microsoft and it has a lot of bugs, but it it way better then any OS (any Windows OS I mean). You computer specifications seem pretty decent for Windows XP. You CPU isn't the greatest, but I have seen Windows Xp running on a 400Mhz laptop with 64Mb RAM. Microsoft has done a pretty good job of eliminating the BSODs from Windows XP so I recommand you install Windows XP.
  2. I don't know if you're right about that. Imean you can get a copy of Windows XP from torrent, but as long as you have a license for it Microsoft won't really care. Activation is made only to prevent people from sharing the same CD-Key, so they don't care if your Windows is premade or downloaded from Piratebay.
  3. It has been over 2 years since the next generation operating system has been in development and there are many voices saying that Windows Vista has too much eye-candy then our CPU and RAM can afford. And they seem to be true. Bill Gates and Microsoft seem to forget that we don't have 52 billion $ to spend on hi-tech computers. I have a AMD Athlon64 3000+, 1GB RAM, nVIDIA 6600 128Mb Video Card and I don't even dream to change my computer (or some part of it) for at least an year.Returning to the subject ... I downloaded the lastest Windows Vista build (5308) which is thought to have all the features that the final version will have (for those of you that forgot ... Windows Vista is due for launch at the end of 2006 - beginning of 2007). And since I have an AMD Athlon64 CPU I said that I should try the x64 build. Compared to the last build I tried which had 1,5GB (a November build), this Vista build has over 3,5 GB (that means the final version will probably have a full DVD). You are probably wondering if the extra 2 GB are worth the extra time necessary to download it. The answer is NO. I have found out that the extra 2GB is nothing but tons of x64 drivers (which means they are garbage). I have an normal computer nothing to fancy about it. A Lexmark x1190 Printer and a TV Tuner (and the basic stuff). There isn't any Microsoft drivers for those two even in Windows Xp not to mention in Windows Vista x64 Edition so you can see why the extra 2GB are worthless.I tried to install Vista. I had some serious problems just after the first boot, some 40 minutes of installing. There was no fancy Windows Vista icon to welcome me into the next generation OS, just a BSOD (for those not familiar to the term, even though i'm sure everyone has seen one BSOD is the Blue Screen Of Death... the screen that shows you that Windows has crashed and that there is nothing you can do to stop it ). So yeah just after the first boot I got this BSOD. Booted again and after a minute or so a BSOD again. And no matter how much I tried after I a minute or so a BSOD teminated the next generation OS. I'm currently downloading the x86 version (which I hope will work better). Well there was one thing I noticed in that minute I had the Vista desktop infront of my eyes. It sure has a lot of eye-candy. Aero Glass and the transparency (which is now turned on by default... if you have a new video card) make Windows Vista look fancy. In other words the UI is great. But regarding the rest of the features... well that's another story. it ate 500mb from my ram whithout any software installed and the CPU was at 10% in idle.So the question is... Will you give over 150$ for a more fancy Windows? Do you value performance over eye-candy?all over thsi thread I said "next generation OS", but is seems it is only next generation by the eye candy and the number of huge bugs it has (another Windows Millennium maybe).I hope that if the x86 version will work as supposed to I will have more information for you regarding this build.
  4. It's not premade. If you buy the Windows XP Service Pack 2 CD (legal) you have the right to do anything with it, even copying it as long as you don't install Windows on other computers on the same time. And besides I'm sure that more then 70% of us haven't got a "legal" copy of Windows XP. I wouldn't give more then 100$ to a operating system that is full of bugs. I only use windows because there is nothing (yet) to turn to. Windows on Mac... the news made quite a stir on a computer related sites. Well the guys that "hacked" (I'll use the word even if I don't approve it) are really good programmers, But it really doesn't help me a bit. I don't have a Mac and I don't intend to buy one in 10 years so... Still good to know there are still people that can challenge the big companies
  5. I don't know about you, but I lost some money in 12DailyPro, not much anyway. But it did not scam people. I hate the fact that they call 12dailypro a scam. You have accepted the TOS (if you read it) and you should have knew what your getting into. As long as they don't promise something that they can't delive it is not called a scam.If I tell you that I will give you a 100% return and you'l get nothing is is called a scam. But when you have been told that there is a posibility that you will never see the money you cannot scream SCAM.Maybe it was a ponzi scheme, I don't know, but it sure worked great until ScamPay (nickname to StormPay) did what they did. And I simply don't care if it s a ponzi scheme as long as people get paid. And If it was a ponzi scheme I'm sure 12DailyPro could have lived for at least 6 months while people got richer. But no ScamPay has destroyed everything. You are simple afraid of what you cannot understand.
  6. I have told you why I would gladly accept foreign ruling. Everyday I go to school I see an old man beg for money. He probably worked his entire life and now, when he is old, he receives less then 100$ per month. Even my grandparents have the same income. And my grandfather worked over 40 years in a foundry (I don't know if that is the correct word, but I was looking for a definiton of a factory where they melt steel to make tracks and trains). All this time the politicians are corrupt to the bones, make millions of $ and live their life in wealth you can only imagine while the rest of the people live below the line of poverty. If I could ever be in a situation where I could judge them I would gladly kill every politician with my own hands. In a word, I simply hate them. They don't represent us, our interests or my country. They only care about themselves. That is why even a foreign rule would be better, maybe not forever but until our so called politicians will finaly understands that they must use their power for the good of the people and not the good of themselves of their family. And you must understand that freedom is only a word, it has no exact meaning. You define your own freedom. If I can speak my own language and keep my traditions I can consider myself free. And as long as the ones who rule us only think about OUR good... That doesn't make me a slave. Well I don't understand "protecting integrity" wrong I just see it from a different perspective. For what Hitler understood he did only good. Same thing for Slobodan Milosevic. He is considered a hero by his people (I wonder if that is true... I mean that Hitler was loved for a few years until they discovered what he done). I really don't understand what you mean by "wrong definition for Victory of Germany (the beginning victories or the last results)". Please explain. The difference is a very large one. If it wasn't for the great empires such as the British one there won't be a USA now. Same thing for Australia, Canada or Latin America. At least as they look now... wealthy and civilized. Following your thinking I would end up blaming the Roman Empire... yeah Roman Empire wasn't then greatest, but it was better then any of its time and if there were no Roman Empire I'm sure we wouldn't have computers or any other great technology. Because the barbarians where not interested in technology. In other words it is about the greater good. From 2 bad things we choose the better one. In my opinion you are wrong. Because the things you talk about happened a long time ago, when menkind wasn't so civilized. It was normal for them what they did. It is considered wrong now. When we talk about what Milosevic did we talk in the present, a few years ago, and that is a big difference. He knew that what he did was wrong and he should have been punished (even with death) for it.
  7. 1. I compared Hitler with Milosevic because they both killed inocent people. Not in a war situation where inocent casualties are inevitable, but because they were rasists and killed people for their own reasons. You have to remember that the jews in 2nd World War Germany (and in most of the countries today... specially USA) control a huge portion of the economy (in a sense jews control the USA... financial speaking). The same "protecting integrity" could be applyed to Hitler, but we all know he was a madman not a hero. 2. In my opinion (and I'm not a racist) the german people are the smartest in the world. Not only that but they are the most efficient (take in consideration that in both world wars they fought almoust alone against everyone and almoust won). The devided world of today is not good at all. And that's why I like globalization. All men are brothers, but every nation has a different objective. Different currency, different language... The best way I would see the world is that of a federation (like the USA). In my country we have a high level of corruption and birocracy. I would gladly accept a foreign ruling as long as they let us keep our teritory and language intact. 3. As I said I agree with you. The war in Iraq has nothing (or almoust nothing) to do with terrorism. The black gold is the issue. But we must remember that USA rules the world. 2nd World War made USA what it is today. One way or another we must accept that they make the rules and such they will never be guilty of something. There is no one to dispute their position... 4. True. BUT HISTORY IS MADE BY THE VICTORS. It is the way the history works. It is why history will never be objective...
  8. If you look to him as a hero who wanted to protect the integrity of their country, you can also look to Hitler as a hero who wanted to conquer the world. In my opinion if the germans would rule (I said germans not nazi) the world ... the world would be in a better place. But Hitler killed millions of jews so he is far from a hero... So is Slobodan Milosevic. Maybe I should have quoted only this part: I don't defend Bush or the use of nuclear weapons in the second world war. I have been stronly against Bush and the so called war against terrorism, but we shouldn't forget that the intervention in Kosovo was voted by the U.N., organization which in my opinion should have the greatest power in the world. HE IS NO HERO...
  9. Try pressing the required buttons before you do anything... I'm sure it will work!
  10. More then 5 months ago I was looking for some advertising to put on my website (see signature). I wanted to use Google AdSense, but I got banned due to 'invalid clicks' with my last website. I came across this, by mistake... BetterThanBanners... It really is better then banners! My own website, like the other 99% of the websites on Xisto are not getting more than 100 unique visitors daily... that's why BetterThanBanners is great. If you have an english website with some content you can signup at BetterThanBanners.com or BetterThanBanners.net (if you'd like to help me please use my referral email: adriantc_ro@yahoo.com in the signup form... thanks in advance). There is no need to have a high traffic website, you can have as little as 1 visitor daily... they don't care, just to put their banner on 3 pages from your website and you will receive a 5$ (pound) voucher every month for as long as you keep the banners on your website. THEY EVEN GIVE YOU A 10$ (pounds) SIGNUP BONUS (you will receive the voucher one week after putting the banners on your website)! The difference between the 2 links I gave you... the .com one gives you vouchers for Amazon.co.uk (pounds) and the .net one gives you vouchers for Amazon.com (dollars). So just signup (you will receive the 10$ (pounds) bonus after a week since implementing the code to your website), put the banners on at least 3 pages (keep in mind that you won't receive more money if you put it on more then 3 pages) and keep it there. You will receive a free 5$ Amazon Voucher with which you can buy anything you want. Hope you'll like it... I did... Still receiving my 5$ voucher every month. What I received in this 5 months: a book (Band Of Brothers... I strongly recommand it... very good book) and 2 CD's (with Star Wars music... I'm a huge fan of Star Wars). Be sure to PM if you need any help with BetterThanBanners...
  11. I tried them both and worked great. The second one with Adobe Space Monkey is very funny. I've read somewhere, on wikipedia I think, about a HP printer that sings Ode to Joy when you hit the POWER button for a number of seconds. Isn't that cool... Here is the Wikipedia link for easter eggs... Enjoy
  12. if you want to read the full article CLICK HERE Even if they say it was a natural death, I really don't belive that. Even thought I was young when the war took place I still remember clearly what happened since it was at the border of my country. He should have become an example for future generations (by beeing convicted to death). I have seen that some people are concerned about the fact that he may be turned into a hero... What do you think?
  13. Well I think you are right concerning the fact that Xisto is fast becoming overposted. When I signed up, over an year ago, there where less then 4000 members and now there are 13.000 members. That is a huge growth (yeah Xisto is the best so it' a normal thing for people to join). But it's not that hard to write something and keep up with the credits. I have over 270 posts and yeah I earn credits very hard, but not because I don't have what to write about. I really don't have time or the nerve to spend an hour on the forum. I don't write everyday... usually around once every three days. A few good posts and I make over 5 credits. And I can tell you that over thsi year I only got my account suspended once, becuase I forgot to post.I'm sure people will never run out of subjects since evryday somehting happens in the world that needs to be discussed.PS: It only took me around five minutes to write this reply, so in an hour I could get over 10 hosting credits if I have a little inspiration.... And I got over 1 credit for this post...
  14. There is NO WAY I'm switching back to Internet Explorer even if it is version 1000. But I am willing to give it a try... I'm downloading it as I type. I am mainly using Internet Explorer to see the sites that don't work that great with Mozilla Firefox (my site for example has a small image bug in Internet Explorer that doesn't show up in Firefox and it is good to know if your site has this kind of problems).Well I read about Internet Explorer 7 in my computer magazin and they only have good words for it. Maybe 'Microcrap' ( ) has finaly decided to do something to stop Firefox. From competition only good things can come. But I really do hope that Firefox will win (FREE SOFTWARE RULEZ )
  15. As I was watching the replies from my last post in this thread I remembered a line from a movie that I think describes the way menkind is. Most of you have seen Matrix... Do you remember the first Matrix movie, when Agent Smith said that menkind is a virus because of the way it acts. It finds a place, deplets its resources and moves one to another one just to do the same all over again. That is the pattern of a virus and as it seems menkind acts that way. With one big difference - we have nowhere to move one, at least until we can settle down on other planets. And yes... regarding this topic I am very pessimistic
  16. Well I don't have only one favourite google feature. I would have voted 3 times if I were allowed, but since I am not I will post them here.1. GMail (Maybe -and that's a big maybe- not the best one, but it is great) - I prefer Yahoo since I use it for over 6 years and all my friends have my Yahoo ID.2. Google Earth - is in my opinion THE BEST feature that google has! The maps should be updated more often and have a better resolution for the place that are not so important (like my country ) 3. Search Engine - The best search engine from the world wide web! I used Yahoo at the beginning, but since I moved to FireFox and Opera I only use Google (If you ask me I can't find any big diferences between Google's search engine and Yahoo ones)
  17. (if the story is true) This is really sad ... 14 year old boy suicides over a hacked Runescape among other family, friends problems. He should have gone to a doctor or at least someone should have taken him to one. Some counceling could have saved this boy life...Yes it is sad, but there are a lot of suicides everyday all over the world. There are even worse things the suicides... and I can give you a lot of examples. Society should do it's best (which is far from what it does today) to find those (like this boy) who really need our help.
  18. I wanted to reply to this thread a long time ago, but I just couldn't get time or every time I logged in I was attracted by something else.I think global warming is for real, but there is not much we can do in just a few years. It is simply not enough. The world depends on fosil fuel. If every country in the world would agree to stop using oil world's economy will go into bankruptcy. So in my opinion we have passed the point of "no return". Not only because nature cannot regenerate, but because there is no way mankind can stop or reverse what it did. This is the price of progress... It is sad , but in just 200 years menkind has evolved from steam engines to rocket engines. Thinking in the time of the univers or in the time of nature this 200 years are just a few seconds. The changes were much to big and much to fast. You don't have to be a scientist to see that the climate is different (changing). My country used to have 4 seasons and not it only has two, winter and summer. And it seems that in just a few years we will only have one long summer. Not to mention the flods, earthquakes snd other natural disasters which tend to repet every single year. My country NEVER had a tornodo in it's history, but last summer we had one tornado (sure it was not like the american ones where a lot of people die or are left homeless, but it is a very unusual thing).I even saw a news on Discovery Channel website a few days ago speaking about how animals and plants have begun a fast evolution trying to keep up with the ever changing climate.
  19. This brings back some nice memories. My first computer was Intel 2xx Mhz (can't rember exactly) with 32MB RAM and a nVIDIA Riva TNT (8MB). That were great days...And speeching of old computers I can tell you that recently I have been blessed to see and work on a computer with a 66mhz Intel CPU, 8MB RAM and a 800MB HDD, running Windows 95 (quite smoothly if you ask me)! They don't do thing like they used to... Everything they do today has a 2 year lifespan. They don't design computer parts as they used to... to have a 5 year life span... they only think about making more and more money!
  20. Well I have read about this search engine issue in a computer magazin this month. And their opinion, which I strongly support, is that Google has done the right thing. On the other hand Yahoo and the other search engines made the wrong choice. First of all because users really do care about their privacy and some day some US institution may want to check everyones emails for whatever reason. If Yahoo will just complie everytime someone wants something regarding users privacy, users will be encouraged to use another search engine.BTW.... I also read in that magazine that last month Yahoo helped officials from China arrest a jurnalist that wanted to release something bad about the guvernament (don't remember what). And that case was related to the email service of Yahoo.Anyway, even if what Yahoo, MSN and AOL did was bad there should be a line to which freedom of speech extends. Full freedomn (even in general) is not good... There should be laws that define what is on the both sides of this line.... in other words what is good and what is bad
  21. After Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge Of The Sith was released back in May, I turned into a BIG Star Wars fan... read all books, bought cd with soundtracks, downloaded all dvds (btw... does anyone know how I can see the extra from the Star Wars Episode 4, 5 or 6 DVD, I use PowerDVD and the readme file that came with the DVDs said that "All extras included", but on the dvd menu I only have a play, chapter and language options).Returning to the topic... Yesterday a friend of mine (also a big Star Wars fan) told me thaty Star Wars Empire At War has just been released. I saw the trailer and it looked great! Did you play it?If you did, please share your experice with us!
  22. I wourld recommand you install 2 antiviruses on the same computer. An year ago I tried to install BitDefender onto my computer that already had installed Norton Antivirus. I didn't check the troubleshooting page and after I installed BitDefender I found out that it has a problem with Norton products (I had Norton SystemWorks). That simply crushed my computer. Tere was no way of booting it... it just gave me an error and a system restart. I would have reinstalled Windows, but I needed some files from the Windows partition. That was one time safe mode saved my life...
  23. Well my site still has quite a small member base (over 100 members) and that's why it doesn't deliver that much traffic. About spam I really don't know. What I send are just newsletters (which doesn't contain any ads... just news). Could you forword me one of the emails you consider spam?10x,
  24. Well I'm pretty sure what I saw... They were hitting themselves with a stick which had at the end some metal things which did quite some damage. I have seen that twice on TV so I'm really sure what I saw. That seems to me as self-mutilation. I have to admit I don't know very much about their culture other then what everyone knows. To be honest I didn't know muslims do circumcisions (i thought only jews do that). Not to mention I'm still in shock after finding out that there is circumcision for females (my friends laughed quite a lot when I told them and they didn't even belive me). I wasn't necessary taking about women rights to vote. I was talking about their religion in general. Because everything in nature and in life is in constant change. Something that does not change can't possibly get better. A religion that does not get change can't get better. Maybe at the begining the Isam was perfect for that dark times, but in essence it has not changed since it was created. Yet the world has changed... The western world had to pass some serious changes to become what it is today. Consider only that the chuch had to admit many things it did not want... earth not beeing the center of the univers, evolution theory and many others. I don't claim to be perfect and it has problems like the lack of spiritual life, but it made us what we are today. They go to Mecca every year and thousands die. I know Mecca is the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad and it is very important for them, but is it something worth to die for??? What I understand when I say reformed religion is a religion that teaches men to think for themseves before doing something, not doing it because everyone else does it. I know what the jews have done after the second world war and I do not approve. But that does not excuse terrorism and sure isn't a good example. First of all because this so called "fight for freedom" makes a perfect excuse for the jews to hold that lands. Not to mention the fact that if the jews don't want to release that lands they will never do so, no metter what. They have a strong connection with the USA and other nations of the world (should I remaind you that the USA gives billions of dollars to Israel every year, also should remaind you how many rich jews life all over the world in some very important places). To end my part in this debate I have one last thing to say. I spoke as a men of science and not of faith. Someone who is religios will, i'm sure, see things differently. I belive human life is worth much more then the promise of a future, better life beyond death. What I wanted you to understand after reading my posts is that religion (in any form) should be a guide and not a law that MUST be followed under any circumstance.
  25. I learn Pascal at school... on the old fashion Turbo Pascal. At home I use Delphi (which also uses Pascal programming language, but it's much more new, has an IDE, and in it's latest version 2005 it is .net friendly). I also know HMTL (if you consider it a programming language), and I have started to learn PHP.
