Is Life A Conspiracy? My theory on life.
adriantc replied to scotty_knows's topic in Science and Technology
I don't know if life is a conspiracy, but it is one big coincidence. And for that matter it could also be a conspiracy. I don't understand what you mean by conspiracy, so I'll take a wild guess. What I understand from "Life A Conspiracy?" theorie has to do with aliens. I believe in them so it isn't hard for me to think that life on Earth could be some sort of an experiment. Even a few years ago when they discovered what looks like fossils of alien organisms on that Mars rock (if you want more details... Click HERE) many scientists said that it is possible, even by coincidence, that life on Earth appeared after an incident like this. So there could be a conspiracy to life, but I wouldn't mix it with any divine intervention... -
I think sooner or later the world will come to an end... "Everything that has a beginning has an end!" (Oracle Matrix). Even though it is a quote from a movie it is real and true. Major steps in evolution where taken after great extinctions. The dinosaurs had to become extinct in order for menkind to appear and evolve. Our ancestor the cavemen wouldn't have stood a chance against a T-Rex... We should also remember that death is a part of life. We, as individuals and to generalize as human race, are not made to live forever. Death is a natural part of evolution... if we wouldn't die we wouldn't feel the need to reproduce which is the engine of evolution. The crisis (some bigger, some smaller) you underlined seem to have only one conclusion: self-destruction. But you should also remember that in recent history menkind has nearly averted some even bigger crisis like the Cold War. It is, up to date, the biggest crisis of all time. We were half an hour away form nuclear war and self-destruction. I believe that the world will someday come to an end, but surely it is no going to be in the next 100 years. PS: Someday in billions and billions of years the universe and with it life, will come to an end. So end of the world ... yes... tomorrow or the day after tomorrow ... no!

I also watch this kind of TV shows on Animal Planet. The only difference it that they show Miami Animal Police. You are right with the problem of the fine and jail time, but you have to realize that there are far more important problems in the world then dogs not eating for two weeks. Some people in Africa don't eat for two weeks, so you see I can't agree to the fact that animals are considered a priority. We are still human and we should be looking after our "brothers" and "sisters".More the point there are lots of countries (mine included) who cannot afford to have an animal police. Even the human justice in the USA is far from perfect so you cannot demand to have a perfect justice for animals. In my country someone steals a cabbage (!) and he goes in jail for 6 months (!) (true story). A rich men shoots in the head a poor men because he dared to swim in this lake on a hot summer day (true story again) and guess what...the official conclusion: the weapon missfired and the poor men shot by mistake.... rich men gets 3 years in prison (which will probably be around 2 if the doesn't cause problems in prison). So you see there are ar greater problems with our justice system then this animal justice problems.

It is hard to define progress so I'll give you an example out of my own life. A few months ago my parents decided that my room needs to be repained and refurnished. I thought it was a good idea, I needed some change... But just a week ago we started emptying my room so I only have my bed now. The other day I thinking that (in problems regarding directly me I'm pretty conservative) it looked better the way it was and I started feeling remorses. I'm very sentimental and I need a way to connect to my past. I fear that someday I might forget from where I left. MAybe that's why I felt remorses. Anyway I think this is the price of progress... ending a chapter and starting a whole new one.In my example the repainting and refurnishing are improvments>>>progress. I embrace progress because I consider that if we aren't ready to pay the price of progress we aren't ready to become better humans. If our ancestors wouldn't have embraced progress we would still be living in caves and hunting wild animals for food. Progress is (in my opinion) strongly related to evolution...The hard question is ... When is the price of progress too high? Is there a moment in history or do you think there will ever be a moment when the price will not be worth the progress?

Does Anyone Know A Player That Will Play .cue Files
adriantc replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in Software
I should also point out that you can play the .bin file directly with Daemon Tools, you are not required to load the .cue just load the .bin file (if there isn't a .bin then it is a fake image or just a part of it). Why not use torrents ... I'm sure you'll find it and besides the other people who downloaded it can tell you if it works and quality of the movie. -
What If People All Saw Things Differently?
adriantc replied to Nitefell's topic in Science and Technology
All people see things differently in most cases. There are a few or none the cases when people see the same things. We usually agree to something... To expand your color example lets say you see a color somewhere between green and blue like the colors of someone's eyes. I could say they are blue and the other could say they are green. It is the same color we see but the way our mind works may affect the outcome. Almoust everything in life is based on past experience. Since you are a baby you haven't learned or have a definition or color blue for example. But you see blue and your mother said "That's blue!"... you took it for granted. She could have said it is green even if is it blue and you would have had to believe her since you had no past experience. So you see... what is blue for me could be green for the other. If we would have been raised by the same mother chances would be that we would see many things the same way. But since there are so many differences in our education... diferences in religion, wealth, etc. there is no way people could see things the same way. In my opinion the theorie should be the other way around: What If People All Saw Things The Same Way? What do yo think about that?> -
My national team hasn't been able to reach the world cup 2006 (even though it is better then some teams in the groups) so the world cup isn't that interesting as it used to be.If you ask me Brazil should win the World Cup 2006. I consider them to be wizards with the ball, just as I consider germans to be the smartest people in the world. So Go Brazil And Germany. A final betwee them would be great!

I've wanted to buy a video camera for a few years now. They aren't cheap at all (at least for me), so after a few years of reading magazines and different offers I finally had the necessary money to buy one. Since I now have one and I'm very happy with it I want to write a review so anyone who will want to buy a video camera will have an easier job finding the right one... Over 2 months ago I started searching... my budget was quite low: around 600$. The first big problem was the format of the camera. The two big options (for me) were MiniDV and MiniDVD. (if you're not familiar with the terms you should know I wasn'tat first... MiniDV - very small tape... MiniDVD- Mini Digital Versatile Disc - a small 8cm DVD). So why should you choose one over the other? You have to consider what you are going to do with the recorded material: 1. MiniDV- an older alternative, usually cheaper then miniDVDs (with around 40%) can be rewriten up to 10 times (some say more, but the general accepted idea is that after more then 10 rewrites the quality of the rrecoding is drasticly reduced. The main advantage of the miniDV format is that the movie is not encoded at all... it is in a raw status. In other words if you want to copy a movie onto your computer without encoding t would require over 50GB of space. The raw format is great for the ones that want to do editing after they record a movie. !!! So if your're not into editing (which by the way takes at least a few hours) I suggest going for option two !!! 2. MiniDVD (miniDVD-+RW) - a modern alternative, usually more expensive then miniDV, can be rewriten up to 300 times (I use Sony branded ones and sony gives a lifespan of 1000 rewrites to their discs). If your into editing don't choose this option as the movie is already encoded into MPEG2 so for you to edit it you'll have to recode it into the raw format, edit it, and reencode into MPEG2... this process lowers the quality of your recordings. The advantage on the other hand is great. With a miniDVD you can record what you want and you can right away play it back on the now very comman DVD players or on the computer. Considering that I am a very lazy person ( ... and damn proud of it) and the DVD seems to be the way of the future I bought a miniDVD video camera. After weeks of searching and thinking what is the best video camera that suites my needs I finally decided to buy a Sony DCR-DVD404. It lacked Memory Stick support, USB support and Audio-Video Input (Memory Stick isn't that much usefull since it can record pictures right on DVD and USB isn't that great because you just have to take the dvd out of the camera and put it into the DVD-Rom). Finally I took in consideration the fact that this camera will be my camera for at least 5-6 years so I've gone for the best: Sony DCR-DVD405E. Exactly the same as the 404 just with Memory stick, USB and AV in support. (if you want to read the full specs of Sony DCR-DVD405E... Click HERE) After a few weeks of testing in all kind of conditions I'm ready to declare myself extremly happy with what I have bought (considering of course the huge price I've paid) The quality of the movie is great in indoor conditions and near perfection in outdoor conditions. The 12x optical zoom and the 120x digital zoom are really helpful and in contrast with some video cameras that offer 990x zoom it does not make the movie blurry). About the sound (which is 5.1 DD... the camera only has 4 microphones but it has a sound processing unit which makes the 4 channel sound in 5.1 channels) I can tell you it is as close to perfection as you can get. I have to admit there are some problems in very windy conditions, but other then that the sound is cristal clear and it is positioned correctly. Now about the still pictures... I have an old digital camera (HP PhotoSmart 318xi) and I can tell you the difference is huge. My Sony video camera has a resolution of 3,3 Mp for still pictures (and 2 Mp for movie). Of course the resolution isn't that great, but on auto mode (without any manual adjustments) delivers pictures better then most of the digital cameras. I can say I was impressed on the quality of the pictures since I heard that video cameras aren't good for taking stills. Once again 10 out of 10. There are a few things I don't like... The low recording time (included battery pack pretty weak considering the price of the camera) made me spend a few more $ for an extra battery pack. All things considered this camera is positioned in the beginning of the high-end class and for those of you how don't want to change the camera for at least 3 or 4 years this is the best video camera. I strongly suggest buying it if you have the money for it... PS: Tomorrow I'm going in a trip thru Europe for a whole month (one of the reasons why this review is so long ) and when I'm come back I'll be able to share my experience regarding my video camera!

I've read somewhere in last weeks newspaper that the USA are considering to lower the american presence in Iraq with more then 70%. If you ask me that is at least far-fetched since withdrawing from Iraq before peace is restored would make USA look weak to the rest of the world. It would be Vietnam all over again...

Things seem to change at Microsoft... Now that Windows Live Messenger is Beta everyone is in a hurry to adapt to it. For those of you who downloaded Yahoo Messenger 8 (which is also Beta) you will notice that it adds some support for Windows Live Messenger. In later versions Yahoo! may make a move and fully support Windows Live Messenger.Anyway a new addtion to the Messenger family is good since Yahoo Messenger seems to get a little crowded from time to time. But ifyou ask me with a little more functions Skype will be the future. Much less crowded and much better sound and video.

I also tried both solutions BricoPack Vista Inspirat and Vista Transformation Pack. For a while BricoPack Vista Inspirat was the greatest, but with no updates coming it is as good as dead. The real Vista keep changing so an update even from last month is considered to be very old. I also have to admit that BricoPack Vista Inspirat has a much easier installation process than Vista Transformation Pack, but with the recent updates it seems Vista Transformation Pack is improving a lot (I mean the automatic one restart required installation vs the old one in version 3 that required two restarts).Recently I also managed to make WindowBlinds work on my computer. It doesn't bring much exept for one thing. Alpha Blending also known as transparent windows borders. Plus the effect is not software created, but hardware created ... in other words it uses the video card to make that efect. This is considerbly better that any possible software version since it will "eat" much less processing power. Also if you really want to go for a better Vista Transformation you should try a small software called TopDesk (you can find aditional information HERE or search on the torrents for the... let's say free version of it). So what does this software do? It creates an amazing 3D effect for Alt+Tab function. In other words it will replace that boring default effect with a much much more cooler 3D swaping effect. Hope you will enjoy them just as much as I did... I don't know what problems other have had I haven't got any problems with installing or uninstalling Vista Transformation Pack. And I can tell you I installed it and uninstalled it at least 5 times... So as long as you follow the instructions there shouldn't be any trouble. In any case I recommand you do a system restore point... Just in case! PS1: Here are some screenshots of my Windows Vista Transformed OS. Enjoy... PS2: The second screenshot is made using the Alb+TAb Function with TopDesk installed.Isn't it great?!?!

Air Power Cars We Can Save Oil And The Planet
adriantc replied to new-world-order's topic in Science and Technology
I'm sure there are a lot of great ways to end our need for oil.... But you must remember that today's world is built on oil. The economy of the world is based on oil. Everything works with oil (or a derived product of oil). If someone would say: "I've invented something that could totaly replace oil!" I'm sure the next day he will be dead. I've heard about the profits of the companies for the oil industries. Hundreds of billion (!) dollars profit every year. Many of them have a capital far larger them what most of the countries produce every year. In other words this companies have a far greater power then some guverments of the world. They run the world, not the puppets we call presidents and guvermentas. These companies will never let something or someone threaten their profits and power. Just like in the drug industry, where a complete cure is never good for the company. So for as long as there is a drop of oil left we will still use it. Alternative fuels will be used more and more, but the key parts of the world will still use oil.PS: Sorry for going off topic... -
Bird Flu has been found in my country for over 8 months now and the only thing it killed where the chickens and the business of chicken farms. If you only see this effect you'd think this is a lab virus designed to stop production and start importing. Of course that is far fetched, but still a theorie...As I also stated in a theorie of my own something bad (like a disaster, war, etc) if bound to happen. We (as menkind) are much too many in a much too small space. Also remember that Africa is at the beginning of the road (as in development) and in 10 or 20 years they will really help increase the population of the Earth. As for the Bird Flu I think it is only another false alarm. Only a few people died and as someone said, a lot more die of cancer or HIV everyday. I think someone has a interest in making Bird Flu a big threat...

What Do You Think About My New Webpage
adriantc replied to jarro2002's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I totaly agree with Plenoptic... you're site looks very professsional. I also like the fact that it looks exactly the same in different browsers. I really don't understand the explination for the news section, but I must say that it whould look much better on the upper side of the website. Of course that means also reducing it a lot. Anyway it is your call... -
I've had my own PHPbb forum in the past (a year ago). As I remember back then phpbb was far more popular, Invision Power Board was just at the beginning of the road. Of course Invision Power Board is now far better the PHPbb, but if you ask me PHPbb stilll has the greatest look... far more use-friendly.

Rise And Fall: Civilizations At War Whatcha Think?
adriantc replied to Society's topic in Computer Gaming
I don't own the game, I only played the demo and watched some trailers. But I did do some searching since I like RTS and the "build an empire" games. Yeah well the previews (and reviews) mainly say it isn't worth it. And as far as I searched on torrents there isn't much interest in this game.If you ask me it seems quite unreal. Take Rome Total War for example... huge difference. I can't explain it but the action seems surreal, and besides there aren't many units on the map like in rome total war or in cossacks. And if you ask me --- a game where you'll only find a few units on the map gives no sense of reality. In rome you could just stay for hours and watch those huge armies marching off and fighting. -
Well I have see that too. But my website isn't UK based and they still approved my account. I have a friend of mine who also joined and has a small programming website (so no UK based) and he was also approved. So I guess as long as your website has pretty decent content you'll be approved.PS: once again if you'd like to help me please use my referral email: adriantc_ro@yahoo.com in the signup form.... 10x

I changed my whole computer in september last year and I've had very little anomolies since then. Almoust no freezes and restarts. That sounds even wierder then having that anomolies .Still I'm very happy with the way my computer works. Only had one problem with my DVD Writer which two weeks died (it stopped rotating discs). Other then that only the normal windows related freezes. My old computer was like a dictionary of anomolies:1. Often restarts and freezes (not related to software)2. I often turned on my computer, but for some reason it didn't give the command to the monitor to come on from standby3. Weird sound coming from my fans even if I cleaned oftenThat's only what I remember, but I'm sure it had much more problems. I always imagined that the problems I had came from the heat and from the "no name" power supply. That's why when I bought the new computer I paid a small fortune on the case and on the power supply. Now I have 3 case fans installed, one 120mm and 2 80mm. Maybe I'm just lucky, but it seems they did the trick...

The New Windows Vista Beta 2 For The Public! Grab it while you can ;)
adriantc replied to Paul's topic in Operating Systems
From what I have read in a computer magazine and on the internet it seems that Microsoft has delayed the release of Windows Vista to may, even june 2007. That is like 6 months away from what they predicted initialy. And if you're wondering why Windows Vista Beta 2 was a public release... it is because it (still) has a huge amount of bugs, even for a Microsoft product .Well I've installed Vista Transformation Pack and with WindowBlinds you can even make that wonderful transparency effect from Vista. I really don't see why I should upgrade... it almoust looks the same as this modified Windows XP.Windows XP was a major update since, however full of security bugs, it still is much much more stable then Windows Me and Windows 98. As for Vista... just Windows XP with glass effect -
It could be much worse... My country is due to join the EU and the cops want to look good on tv and in the newspapers so they started "hunting" people using oDC or DC++. Since it my country piracy is over 90% (it couldn't be better since the minimum salary is just over 100$) they do have a lot of people to hunt. It's just like what RIAA did. They connect to local networks, load DC, and look for people with a larger share (around 100GB). After that they get a warrent and search the house and the computer. And the fine is bettween 1000$ and 14000$ plus you can get in jail for over 4 years.Nevertheless I don't think it will make any difference! We are just too poor to afford licences for Windows, Office, etc

I'm not an american, but my country has troops in Iraq, so it spends money and my people are at risk. We only had one death in Iraq and 2 in Afganistan. It's not much, but they died in a war that is not ours... and more it is Bush's war for oil and power. I'm sure that even if they kill Bil Laden they will not retreat from Iraq. Because they can always "fake" a terrorist attack, a bomb, some victims and the war has a purpouse again. Someone else to hate again. Someone else to hunt for againIt is my opinion that (if it wasn't the Bush administration that did it) at least the Bush administration is a complice in 9-11 attacks. Just another Pearl Harbor... But this time it isn't for a noble cause. And besides if the americans retreat before the whole oil reserve is depleted they will look weak and they will look like they were defeated. It would be like Vietnam all over again... And if they will look weak there are lots of enemies that would chalange their position as world leaders.

A few days ago i was looking on Amazon.com to buy a book where I could find the greatest battles of history. And as I searched I came across The Battle 100: The Stories Behind History's Most Influential Battles .As you could realise from the name the book has 100 greatest battles of history, in the order of their importance. Nothing unsual until I read which is the first. And surprise, surprise, it's the battle of Yorktown 1781. The first sentence of the book: The Battle of Yorktown was the climax of the American Revolution and directly led to the independence of the United States of America. Yeah well it is an important battle, but no were near as important as others (like Stalingrad, Waterloo, Hastings, Thermopylae, Gaugamela, etc). Some americans may fell ofended by my opinion, but the USA has just over 300 years of history. You can't possibly compare the history of the USA with that of Greece, Italy (Roman Empire) or Egypt which have over 2000 years of history. This guy profaned 2500 years of history. And I thought rewriting history was the job of the communists?!?

Thepiratebay.org Raided - Servers Seized
adriantc replied to Blacklaser's topic in General Discussion
I use PirateBay pretty often and I don't know what problems others have had with it, but I think it the the best tracker today. As you can see the laws of Sweden are pretty, let's say, liberal since it took them so much just to take their server down... and they're not even sure if anything bad has happened. But as they also say I'm sure they will be back online within a few hours
