Inovation is not one-way street. As you can see Facebook recently copied the orkut's sidebar and navigation bar type interface as when orkut copied lot of features like friends-chat/twitter/applications and many other features. Both are powerfull and good social networks to hang out. The problem with orkut is :- Security for personal data (information/photos/videos)- Adult content passes through Safety filter settings- Usage of SMS langauge- Racist/Religious/Adult/ violent communities- Scripts/viruses and warez comunities and profiles- Lot of personal attacks from spammers/users etcFacebook due to its security feature disables access to profile and pictures so it is one step ahead of orkut curently.

@Nabb: I'm not sure if they pay for Impression or they pay for clicks. So we've to check their knowledgebase for the answer. But i think it is CPC and not CPM, cause ads are displayed in link throughout page that's why it is beneficial for advertisers to have this as CPC and not CPM. Let's see when someone from us gets first check/paypal from it, will atleast make it clear if it is quick CPM or slow CPC .

Well with Mycent we're earning some cash for our hosting/domain. This is good option for those who can't transfer money via CC, Paypal or other mediums internationally. Suggestion : I think this new theme lacks the links to "Recent Threads" and "Recent Topics". SO it needs to be updated soon. This theme looks good and loads fast as well, but lacks some navigational features.

From the reference of Help center, Google said they' don't reveal such information in order to keep advertisers. It is likely that they have combination of CPC and CPM. Text links are likely to be CPC and Graphics banners are combination of CPM+CPC, this is again assumption. We don't know exact system behind adsense. Google will not reveal such information to public as they earn most of their revenue from such system and that's why most of their services are free. So i don't think they'll reveal the actual information behind it. My guess is again : Combination of CPC+CPM.

Fantastic for those who don't know english or know very small snippet of it and want the translation for some high vocab words. And funny for those who know english and when they see the literal translation of the language into english or vice-versa. It's funny for me :)But as google translate service is likely to be embeded in Orkut, then i can see it will solve lot of communication related problem. It should be embded in most of the services as well.

Captchas are the best defenses today. I'm getting daily 200 SPAM on my wordpress blog, so i decided to use CAPTCHA plugin so the numbers are reduced to 90 now. So even if the CAPTCHA system is cracked by most of the spammers, they'll stay as good defense for some time. Akismet and defensio still consider them as good optionMany Anti-spam consider a thought of adding CAPTCHA in Flash/Java applet so that it'll be harder to crack by spammers.Let's see where the trend of captcha goes. OpenID can solve problems of spammers as well, if they get tweaked properly.

Absolutely right. Once you've have traffic of lets say: 5k+ you'll get easily approved from any advertising network. the fact that you're getting approved is because you've good content on your site that is driving you 5k visitors. With 5k advertisers CPM advertisers can get you steady monthly income as well. so you've concentrate on traffic and good content. The moment you start plagerising/reblogging and scrap content to get more visitors. you'll start to loose traffic then advertising network will keep you in less priority publisher zone. so this way site starts degrading. So keep writing good and original content and start generating traffic using white hat methods.

Well color or B/W doesn't matter if you are looking for entertainment and content. I mean charlie chaplin and some comedy titles are good in B/W. and they still rocks. and there was time when b/w transtioning into color at that time media quality was at primitive stage. Movies like Frankenstein, dr jekyl and other scary movies are worth a watch as well. so all those old B/W movies/serials and stuff are worth to watch as well. I like stuff that entertains i don't look it as b/w and color if it's high with content.

I don't understand why that have to be done? I mean Advice/support should be separate than that. +1 I agree. Tutorials section do need sub categories. and if anyone have any knowledge about how to host Ruby on rails project on CH or Trap please do write tutorial for that. So far many members came up with good solutions and threads regarding the problems/issues and other stuff, that can be helpful for the Xisto - Support knowledge base as well.

I must say this is 6th person i'm seeing that moving from Microsoft Office live hosting. I think in the act of promoting Microsoft products and standards they're restricting users on so many things like must be ASP/MS-SQL db etc). I don't understand why they oppose open standards even though they accepted open standards indirectly in their CLR(.NET environment). I'm skeptical about Microsoft's Business moves. As Hosting Code and project on Codeplex again restricts you to host code related to windows environment, that again don't make sense. anyway, for developers sourceforge/googlecode is better option to host their files and website together.

Just now i received email about mycent update. And i can see the mistake with the earnings. It shows 1$ less than the earning mentioned in the forums profile :" Earned" . Anyone having similar problem? Where to report this? Do i need to create Xisto - Support ticket? or it is forum or mycent problem? is this bug or something ?

Just a suggestion/Idea for Xisto - Web Hosting folks. Logic Plans are good, but Logic plans update need to be posted clearly on website. Currently, they're not posted clearly as earlier Plan A/B/C was explained in tables. That was very easy to understand the plan. I would like to see CH team update package page with more information regarding those plans. You can see Logic plan mentions this currently : This type of information gives very less information about plans unless they are configurable by user. I know there is one thread which mentioned two default packages for Logic plan with price and bandwidth/disk quota. But that notice needs to be posted on web page of CH now.

I don't like to be biased but some of my observations: 1) .NET is limited to windows (MONO/WXC# and some other flavors are alternative but still official support for .NET is limited with windows only) 2) Java is open source/many languages like flash/actionscript/flex/AIR support it extensively.Java has its ecosystem around neat stuff like mysql[now] and can build applications for linux flavours too. Java is free. You can use it to build an open source product and can later charge for services of that product. 3) C# combines features of C++ and java. So it is powerful but yet not preferred by companies, as more and more companies are moving to open source from than Microsoft standards. 4) Because of apache and similar open source project, support and software for java platform is likely to rise than .NET 5) Learning curve for java is much easier as compared to C++/C# as many concepts which found in these language are removed from its ease of use. On a more technical note. Both java and .Net today solve different solutions. [ they do coincide but have very different usages.] for user experience and higher productivity /latest features and full realisation of oop paradigms go for .net framework. For higher architectural strength / platform nonspecific[independent] and coherently stable requirement choose Java. There is no language in this world which has seen a decline in its acceptance rate. infact languages such as cobol and pascal were written with a specific purpose in mind and they have not been replaced as yet. Java is based on object orientation so soon adapted to suite to be the web langauge. During the same time as java php was developing and infact it had more market share than java[applets]. JSP is a good language and so is php .. ther eis not comparision with respect which is going to outlive the other.We still have more php based websites in the world then we have in JSP. At the End: Never worship a language. worship programming.Pascal is a methodology. php is a another type of methodology. no one can outlive the other. some languages are good for common use internet use. similarly some are easily available.some are easy to learn. etc etc . "No language is supreme".

I try to keep my system with less number of media players so i prefer codec pack+embeded media players. I think K-lite media codec pack is really nice alternative. and with that you get large set of codecs. Also it comes up with real player & divx alternative. You can easily play those files on Medial player classic.To capture the screenshots i use "Moviesnapshots" software which can stop each and every frame and can take screenshots.
