This is a very subjective question. All of us have a different perspective as to what matters more to us. I don't deny this, I love looking good, I like it when I get an eye catch by a girl, or if a girl shows her attention to me. I like to look as good as possible, one of the reasons why I work out a lot even if I am not that plump. I just try my best to look good, does well for my confidence as well. Who would like to be called a slop and look like a haggard. Lets face it, this world is all about the external view, inner self do matter but they won't come if they can't pass the external self test. Take for e.g. we talk about inner beauty and how it is worth millions more than external beauty. But how many of us actually ignore the external side of things? Lets say you have a very very plump girl (say 100kg?), but she has a very sweet side, would you consider her as your potential girlfriend? I am a person who does give a fair consideration of the external view, so I would not consider such a girl to be my girlfriend. No disrespect of course but we would not look well in a photo amongst other reasons which I would consider. This world is superficial, models, media ... etc but there is no reason why the rest without the 'look' can't enjoy happiness.

Finally I have got a reply to my problem. Okay, before upgrading the graphics card, I have never had any case of my computer restarting while playing games. I am using the Leadtek Winfast A6200 TD. I am not very savvy with hardware, so I don't really understand the terms you are talking about. And again, I do not understand what is an AGP or PCI-e board, please enlighten me so I can troubleshoot the problem. On a side note, I bought this computer way back in 2002, so it has been around for 5 days. Not sure I will be sticking with him any longer, maybe I will be purchasing a Mac once I have enough cash to do so.

I have been a user of both services, and now I stick with Imageshack. Photobucket is not really that good if you look at the overall aspect. They have a certain amount of pictures size you can upload meaning you can only upload this amount of pictures, on top of that it goes down every once in a while, and most importantly, it is blocked in some corporate websites. A good example would be my company, for some reason or another, I can't seem to access photobucket and its hosted images. I believe this is the same with many other companies as well. Imageshack on the other hand is the opposite of Photobucket. Okay, I do agree with you that sometimes Imageshack take a little long to load, and it has happened to me occasionally, but not often. Imageshack never goes down, the only downside to it is that it takes a fair amount of time to load the pictures but that isn't an issue for me since our internet downloading speeds are getting faster and faster. The best thing about Imageshack is that it has unlimited number of image uploads. Why do I say that? Because the way Imageshack, you upload 1 file at a time, no strings attached, you don't have a username ... etc so you are just a 'guest' everytime you upload a picture. And you can upload as many as you want, so there will not ever be a problem. You won't be able to store them in a centralised location like photobucket because you don't have a user account but then again, look at the bright side, if you ever lose your picture, just upload it again. As simple as that, no need to go through the hassle of searching for that photo in your photobucket account. And yeah! Imageshack is the way to go until there is a better image hosting service.

I share the same sentiments. That is the exact reason why I want to check how much memory a certain process is using, if it is unusual, I will go check out the plugin author's site for any new developments. I can't be going to download 7 plugins with their new versions and not know what is the problem. So hopefully somebody can get back to me as to how I can know the memory usage (RAM) of a certain process.
-
i think I would list out all the plugins I am using at the moment which could constitute to this and maybe I could get some advice.Akismet (Anti-spam tool by WordPress)Counterize II (Tracks my stats going into the site, referal agent, search string, browser, ip address ... etc)Drop Down Get Links (Allows me to use a dropdownlist for my links, comments, archives ... etc)IP 2 Nation (Matches the IP to a nation)Ultimate Tag Warrior (The famous tagging system we all know)WordPress Database Backup (Backup utility by WordPress)WP-UserOnline (Works together with IP 2 Nation in helping to track where my users are coming from. Shows the number of visitors online at my blog in the given amount of time.)These are the only plugins which I am using. I can't think of any of them using too much memory. These are the furthest amount of plugins I can go, anymore and it overshots the allocated memory of 8 mb. I hope this is enough?
-
I have WordPress installed in my site. And I know the default memory-limit is 8 mb. What I would like to know is how do I find out how much memory I am using and which process is using the most amount of memory. Apparently, WordPress is consuming a lot of resources and when I tried adding a new plugin to my site, they gave me an error saying that I have exceeded my memory limit of 8mb. Is there a possibility for Xisto to increase it to 16 mb? I am running very few plugins, and I don't understand why this problem is occurring. Can someone assist me?

The blog version is much nicer IMO more compact, and the colors look more lighter on the eyes instead of the home version whereby the color is a little too bright for my liking. The only downside to the design is that it has too many ads at the bottom, I never liked ads in any website and it only brings down the overall value of it. Unless you need those ads to financially keep your blog up, I hope you could take those ads out. I noticed a possible flaw in your blog layout. The post 'Cute Pet Site' is sort of brought to the right hand side because of the image. I am not sure whether that is what you want, but I am a fan of blog entries being in a vertical order instead of some on the left or some on the right because that is way too messy for me.

A moderator is someone who should be a role model for every other member to follow. One to dedicate time to forum to moderate posts so that they are not breaking the rules the forum has set, advertise the forum, making it more popular and also trying to encourage posting in a forum. In a way, he has to lead the forum he is moderating forward. Ideas to improve the forum and make it more attractive for guests are also plus points. His posts has to be of a certain quality, there is certainly no room for 1-liners or posts which will not contribute to the forum. A Moderator is scouted out when he starts doing things what a normal member should and much more, but its the quality of posts which catches one's eye.

I am glad ever since the release of Norton Internet Security 2005, I have moved away from Norton. That is pretty rubbish service, forwarding you to different departments and yet not able to give you an ample solution. Them denying that it was their product really seems to put it all together, if they had really done it to you, I reckon you should put it up to a newspaper or anything like that. Symantec is a big organization with reputation, and this is the way they treat their customers. I am using AVG free version anti virus with a Komodo firewall and it is working fine. Both free softwares and I have not got a single virus since I bought this computer in 2002. Amazing isn't it? If I were to buy an Anti Virus solution, it would be from AVG. I would recommend you to do it too. AVG has built its reputation based on free trials and evaluation periods, and it would definitely be my ideal solution for my PC.

I believe there are quite a few discussions about this, but I can't really find it because web 2.0 is such a common string that it is almost impossible for the forums to search the thread out. As the version 2.0 denotes, it is for me a new age of Internet or least a new generation which we are trying to head towards. Very very few websites can be considered Web 2.0, I think Web 2.0 is the use of new technologies like Ajax (Solves post back problems in forms), RSS (Getting updates without visiting the site). Also there is XHTML (Standard to use in all websites), Social Bookmarking such as Del.Icio.Us and Technorati and using CSS to design websites instead of the old conventional tables which slows websites down. Communities such as Friendster, MySpace ... etc, integrating the web into more of an interactive community. In short, like I have mentioned, it is a new internet age and for these to be fully implemented would never happen, even as I speak 5 years down the road, not even 50% of the websites will be Web 2.0 ready. There is just too much lag between the developers, till today we see the extensive use of tables and frames to create a website.

Although we all should be happy with the way we look but nonetheless, I don't agree with this point of view. A lot of us just want to gain/lose weight to look attractive, its not just because of what others think but this is an opinion of ours. Sometimes we look in the mirror, we feel that we do not have the body size or weight that we desire to look attractive to others. There comes our will to gain/lose weight. Which human does not want to look attractive to the other, it is what we all want, and some of us will go to great heights to achieve this effect, others will not. I have never had the torture of going through huge weight loss because I am not very plump, just acceptable but I keep trying to eat more to gain weight, so that I would look attractive, it is more of something for myself and not for anyone else who doesn't like the way I look.

For a site as big as Yahoo! You would think that they would have a clean structure but as with most big sites, this isn't the case. They have one of the most messy structures you would find. What they are validating against is HTML 4.01 Transitional and it already has 37 errors, that shows how outdated their coding is. Imagine now that majority of the sites are using XHTML Transitional and Strict to code their sites out. They really need to clean up their website. I also see a lot of tables, I thought most sites are coded using DIVs and CSS nowadays. Tables are the past and should not be used for such a big website, it will only slow it down.

Help With Images In Photoshop please :D
darran replied to ~Dave's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
To do that, you need to erase the background of the Mortal Kombat. It takes a lot of work as the image is pretty small but I am sure with patience you would be able to do it. You can make use of the following tools to cut your image out: Magic Wand Marquee Tool Eraser Background Eraser Magic Eraser For me, I have my own way of erasing a background. I would use the marquee tool to erase the big portions of the background and for the minor details, I would use the eraser at 3 different opacities to erase them. 15%, 20% and 70% so that it would be smooth when I load the image onto a new canvas where I will do the new design. But then again, it all depends on how you want to do it, there are many other ways to erase a background, it all depends on which way you are most comfortable with. I wish you luck. You can find more tutorials on how to do the following here: http://www.good-tutorials.com/ and http://www.pixel2life.com/ -
There are many word publishing platforms out there and Blogger is just one of the most popular ones out there. There are others such as Livejournal, diaryland, wordpress, textpattern ... etc, I leave it up to you to decide which type of platform you choose. For me, I think WordPress is the best, and that is the main reason why I am using it. WordPress is so customizable, you can easily change themes, a lot of people are creating them on a daily basis, and on top of that there are plugins (Sides to enhance your blog). Some examples of a plugin are Users Online, Poll, Recent Comments, Stats tracking ... etc, there are lots more which I have not mentioned, it is again up to you to decide which one you want to use. On top of all these, WordPress can be installed on your server, instead of in their host server. In other words, if Blogger goes down, your blog does too. With Blogger, as far as I know, there isn't much support to include plugins like WordPress. Despite this, Blogger is definitely more popular because of its easy to use interface as compared to WordPress. In the past, WordPress wasn't free, but now it is: you can get an account with wordpress.com or you can install it on your server by going to wordpress.org. However a lot of people are moving from blogger to WordPress and it is just a matter of time before WordPress becomes more popular than Blogger. With regards to creating a blog, you have to know the purpose with which you are creating it. Is it for personal? Is it for any specific topic or interest? For me, my blog is a place where I write down my thoughts, occasionally, I talk about the latest technologies, news, information on my favourite artistes and a weekly report of a match regarding my favourite team; S.S. Lazio. So you can never run out of things to blog about. And it doesn't need to be very interactive, a fine example would be mine. I get 30+ hits everyday with at least 15 unique visitors but I don't get much comments. That is demoralizing for me but it is alright, they are silent readers and I will keep it at that. Have a go at blogging, it is a very interesting experience.

It is very simple to create a good worthy post. Have an idea, build on that idea and just elaborate with details without repeating any point. If you can do that, I am sure it can be considered a constructive post which the admins and moderators can't complain about. Keep on improving on that point, and I am sure soon enough, making quality posts are a simple thing for you to do. In the past when I just got hosted last year, it was very easy to create new posts. But now, I have to say a lot of things have changed, not many interesting topics to talk about, the support has just gone down the drain. I have asked 3 questions in the computer/programming forums and it just goes unreplied, those are basic questions which I believe anyone who has done ASP programming, Javascript programming could help. But sadly there isn't any help, I am starting to wonder where are all the posters in the forum? In the forum on the whole, a lot of categories have gone several weeks without any new posts. So in terms of activity, Xisto is definitely going down. I am sad to be saying this and I hope things will improve soon enough.

That is really an average system if you are planning on light-weight stuff. But if you are planning to multi-task then it would be a little difficult. I used to have a 512 MB RAM Laptop, and it was very difficult to be programming using NetBeans, edit designs using photoshop, keeping Itunes open and stuff like that. I upgraded by another 512 MB to hit 1 GB and all of those tasks are of no worries to me, I can do it smoothly without having delays.

What Happens After Death? a theory beyond death or life on this earth
darran replied to zak92's topic in Health & Fitness
There is no scientific answer for this question, the only people who know the answers are those who have died. For the rest of us, we leave it to religion. For some, there is afterlife, for some a paradise is waiting, for some incarnation ... etc As for me, I am a Catholic, so naturally, Heaven and Hell are the only 2 destinations. -
I don't think any FireFox user would want their skin to look like IE7. I believe a lot of us did not want to trust IE anymore and that is the reason why we moved to FireFox. IE7's GUI is really disgusting, their navigation is all over the place and it is so difficult to use especially from a user point of view. Furthermore, I want to abstain from IE7 as much as I can, even if it is a simple GUI, I don't want to have anything to do with IE7.

How Is School In Your Country High school
darran replied to zeronelife's topic in General Discussion
It has been 3 years since I last graduated from high school, but I will tell you what I can anyways. I remember taking 7 subjects (English, Elementary Maths, Additional Maths, Combined Science, Combined humanities, Literature and Chinese). It was a horrid time when I was there, but I kinda enjoyed studying there, those days of being drilled exam papers from previous years, countless practice on countless foolscap papers. In my country, the high school system works in such a way:A total of 4 years for the express stream or 5 years for the normal stream. The first year is to build your foundation, in the 2nd year, you are streamed and you can choose which route you want to take it. Be it combined science, pure science or arts stream. In the 3rd year just like the 1st year, you are going to build on your foundation and in the 4th year, you take the final paper which is the GCE O'Level, it is very similar to the GCSE paper in UK because the papers are marked by Cambridge University. I am not sure about the 5 years normal stream as I was in the Express stream. -
I am not concerned about the bandwidth usage after all, 104.26 MB out of a 10 GB is more than pretty safe for each month. Maybe someone who is involved behind the scenes in the hosting components can shed some light on this.
-
Shouldn't this be in the graphics related forum? In aycase, I pretty much like the 2nd version, it looks more towards the theme of ancient times, and brings out the idea behind 300. Classic! Want to watch this movie though

I am pretty much concerned about where this is going for my site. I am using WordPress to power it and I have installed Counterize which basically tracks all the stats to my site, everything I want to see, the IP address, DNS host, referrer, browser, search strings ... etc, but the problem is after 1 month of using Counterize, I noticed, I have already used 1.88 MB of SQL Disk Space in the 1 year I have spent blogging. And I know the bulk of it is due to the Counterize plugin. Does the SQL Disk Usage constitute to the Disk Space available in my site? If so, does that mean I can only have a SQL Disk Usage of another 482.52MB before my blog effectively has no more place to store the entries? Is there a way I can increase the Disk Space through the use of points or even by paying extra in cash?

I have been having a peculiar problem. Everytime I boot up the computer, there would be external storage in my G: drive. When i click on it, it shows me that this is inaccessible, I can only deduce there isn't anything there because other than my printer, I am not using any of the USB slots. Is there a way to permanently remove this G: from showing up unless a removable media is plugged in. Can any of the gurus tell me how I can solve this problem? This is not a must, but I just don't like my computer looking funnily, yeah thats just me.

A podcast is simply a digital content which people can download and listen whenever they want. I cannot say what rvalkass has done in a better way. I think the only concern is the content and the duration of your podcast, try to make it interesting because people are not going to be listening to a podcast if it isn't interesting for 3 minutes or more. I am dealing with podcast in 1 way or another at work so I think this could help you especially if you are doing a RSS feed for your podcast so that people can subscribe to it. https://itunespartner.apple.com/podcasts/ But the skeleton of the whole thing would be to record in a very good quality, that should be your priority because it is an absolute turn off if the quality is bad and people can't make out what you are saying.

Perhaps the theme of your animated banner is more to the corporate side. I feel the banner is a little on the plain side, just text and a diagonal scanlines isn't actually that enticing to your visitors. It would be very difficult to ask them to sit through a plain looking banner, there should be more elements to the banner than just plain text, maybe a couple of cool icons, or graphics, whichever pleases you.
