Right now I am using FireFTP, a plugin add on in Firefox. It is very light and simple to use, but the drawback is that if it is opened, and there is a problem with the connection, it practically hangs your firefox in a sense that you can't click on a new tab. Right now, I am looking for a good alternative which would allow me to bookmarks server directories, so I do not need to keep clicking 4-5 times just to get to a directory I need. FileZilla, CuteFTP and FlashFXP, I have tried all that but they don't work for me, they have minor glitches which makes it difficult for me to adapt to. Hoping to have more suggestions flood in here soon.

I prefer Itunes for my music, and for videos I suppose it would be VLC player, there is something with their codec which fixes the bug in WMP of not being able to view divx coded videos even after installing the divx codec. Itunes is developing, the only thing I do not like about them is the part about adding the video to the library and that it takes pretty long to load up, but quality wise it is better than WMP IMO.

I don't understand the development of Adobe Reader, I mean they have so many versions but what it does is just read pdf documents, what else is there to improve besides the overall design of the software? I have always been puzzled by this, the only thing I would not like about Adobe Reader is the time it takes to load especially when you are vieweing 60+ mb of documents, that is seriously the thing which takes the longest to view.

I don't see how letting it die and then charging it for 24 hours would help if the lifespan of the battery is one of being shortened.

I have never encountered any problem while using the system restore function of Windows XP.It could definitely be something you could have deleted like mentioned.

I have read in a lot of forums about the importance of this component. And with regards to my problem of the computer restarting while playing games, this could very well be the reason but I can't confirm anything. When I bought my graphics card Winfast A6200 TD, a minimum of 400w output was needed from the psu and that was I had. But is the psu actually causing the problem of my computer restarting? That the psu does not have enough power to handle the functions of the graphics card? I was playing PES 6 (Pro Evolution Soccer 6) and everything seemed fine until it suddenly hanged and then in a few seconds, the computer restarted. Can anyone else troubleshoot this problem?

I don't know whether this is related until I saw the defect with Sony batteries, I bought a Vaio laptop and I realise the battery life is very pathetic as time passes, in the past I could last 1 hr 30 mins fully charged with everything to the max. Now, after 5 mins, I am down to 75% so it really says a lot, I have given up on using the battery, I use ac power now because the battery costs a lot of money and since my 1 year warranty is over, I can't get a replacement without spending a good USD 100 on it.

I would suggest the use of xspf player, it is a flash player which plays your music, you just need the direct url of the music file and you can play music directly on your blog while having this cool player. Only problem I think you would encounter is the copyright issue of the music you are playing, but if you are playing self-created ones then it should not be a problem.

Lets put it this way: I would use the Mac for surfing the net, storing my pictures, music .... etcI would use the PC for programming, gaming ... etcBut with Mac's bootcamp already in use, I don't see why you need Windows at all? But then again, it is not 1 entity by itself and there are bound to be problems here and there, so what I would do is wait for Mac to continue developing this new technology and Windows would drop massively in sales.

I own a desktop and a laptop. I find it quite a hassle to be switching between 2 computers but I use my desktop for my other stuff besides gaming, all my pictures, music, videos and backup files go to my desktop. And as for my laptop, I play my games there. Wierd I know, the only reason why I am playing my games on my laptop is because the gfx card in my desktop is screwed. It always renders rubbish while in the middle of a graphics intensive application. But if I were to choose, I would prefer a desktop for usage at a certain place and a laptop if you have to move around in internet cafes and in work places.

Your question is a little vagueBy means of publishing, do you mean web publishing? html ... etcOr do you mean word publishing?In anycase, I would give you a reply for both scenarios. For web publishing, I usually go with Macromedia Dreamweaver, this is the best tool in the market and definitely the one I would go with. For word publishing, Open Office works for me. I am not too much of a supporter of Microsoft Word, Open Office is not only free but I find it to have a better interface compared to Microsoft Word.

I am a big fan of lime green, and this theme is pretty nice the first time you look at it but there after it just gets plain boring. I am using Wordpress to power my blog as well. I like the layout very clean and pleasing to the eyes. The only impression I get is this is a ads site because of the google ads. And content-wise it is too wordy, what I would suggest is to do a feature of the latest software everyday, with a picture, rating system. You know what I am getting at. Add more graphics to the content and remove the google ads or at least put it in a place where it will change your focus to the ads, and for me that is a perfect website.

When I clicked on your link, other than the fact that it took a reasonable longer time to load compared to the other websites I visited, I didn't notice anything else peculiar. There was no pop up like you mentioned. I am using Mozilla Firefox version 2.0.0.1

1.6b is not a small sum to pay, especially for something they have the ability to create themselves but the issue here isn't what they cannot create but rather building on the brand name which is youtube. It is the most popular video sharing service on the net, and instead of competing against it with their own service, why not use it repackage it under Google and earn more money? I am sure there are a lot of revenue they would get in return if they take over youtube rather than continue to build their own service.

Migue2k7 has a point. Computers won't be able to take over us, they are just tools to aid us in our work unless we program them with Artificial Intelligence (AI). A lot of video games nowadays are being built around this AI, fighting games, football games, all of these have AI programmed in it. But the similarity these things have are that AI is programmed in a particular aspect, for e.g sports games. the AI is programmed to counter your moves. For a robot to function, it has to be able to know how to react in certain situations and that would be very difficult. But never would they let a computer control us or have any thoughts of being more domineering than humans, we are smarter than computers.

The screenshot of the PHP Designer 2007 emulates the Microsoft Word 2003 layout and colors, and that for me is a major turn off. SmartFTP does the same thing and that is probably why I never use it. It is a very disgusting interface and I for sure would not consider using the program no matter how good it is. IDEs should not be made payable IMO, and even more so for a open source technology such as PHP. It should be kept free, but I am looking for a good PHP Editor which has a nice interface and good functionalities as well. Dreamweaver could do the trick but it does not provide examples and help for beginners in PHP such as myself although I do have a strong foundation in Java.

Wow I just clicked the fast reply feature and saw this box which is so cool ;)I am currently using 2 email accounts for my personal use. Hotmail (Windows Live Mail) and GMail. Although most people are still using Hotmail with the old interface, I switched to Windows Live Mail for the sake of trying it out. And at the moment, I have nothing but criticism for it. It takes far too long to load even on cable, I don't have such problems with the MSN Hotmail interface in the past. It may look cool with the drag and drop mechanism and also with the AJAX capability, but I believe we all want an email service which loads quickly. Windows Live has not managed to do that just yet. Google on the other hand is very quick and also the interface is pretty decent. However I must admit that the way messages are displayed in reference to forwarded messages is poor. @YSR: GMail does have the Messenger mail alert, I am using it at the moment. It is called Google Talk but it is still in the beta stage, it is a much cooler looking messenger than Windows Live for sure. I am just waiting for them to release the full version. But the big issue would be how to port hotmail contacts to be able to message GMail contacts. Because I am pretty certain that not many people actually use GMail for messaging. Otherwise this Google Talk is pretty much useless as a lot of us use MSN to contact I am sure. But for now, it serves as an email detection on my GMail account.
