  1. Why not just use the blinking text HTML tag in a one cell table with a black background.
  2. I don?t completely get this whole virus issue. The rar virus you have to double click on an executable to access. Well, then it is partly the users stupidity for clicking on it. Then again there are a lot of people that are pretty lax in this stuff. Anyway, if a file Microsoft says is a media file executes as an executable I think Microsoft should be held liable for any damage. This is clear incompetence or worse a deliberate attempt to prop up the anti-virus industry.
  3. In Microsoft word you can change the behavior of the document though the use of Macro?s. With Macros you can do everything from changing the format of a section to the renumbering of equations. Unfortunately, Microsoft word does not provide the best help. Does anyone know the best tutorials to get the most out of word. The specific problem I was trying recently is to figure out how to create Macro?s that due what the Mathtype toolbar does. I can learn the formatting commands by recording the Macro?s and then looking at the code. I?ve noticed the equation references in the document are a field of type Macro button but when I try to insert a macro button with the same field codes I can?t see the equation reference. Clearly there is a lot of stuff that I am missing.
  4. It would be pretty easy to make a Java Applet that someone could draw with. I am not sure how it would be uploaded on the server. I would put some caps on the amount of images that could be uploaded and how frequently one person could submit new images. Older images would get deleted.
  5. here is the error I get when I tray transfering items in kenka: mySQL query error: SELECT * FROM trap17_ipbkenka_inventory WHERE owner='jetstream',id='148' LIMIT 1mySQL error: You have an error in your SQL syntax. 6. Speaking of smoking there is a similar discussion about smoking going on here. Apparently employers are firing people based on whether or not they smoker. I consider that a gross violation of personal liberty. I personally would never start smoking, at least not directly. As far as reasons to take substances I dont feel comfortable discussing this on such a public setting. I am generally for personal liberty but I do understand the felt need by members of society to restrict the use of such substances.
  7. I don?t smoke but I like the smell of it. Unfortunately I don?t like the smell it leaves on you clothes the next day if you have been in a smoky place.
  8. I was lentining to some Django Reindhardt lately and I noticed the music didn?t sound like the music off the swing kids movie. I then downloaded the swing kids theme and though I could notice similarities between the swing kids theme and Reindhardts song new your city. I am then left to wonder if the music in the movie swing kids is not what the swing kids listened to but covers of those songs done with a modern flair. It also makes me wonder how close the dancing in the movie looked like the dancing they did back then.
  9. It is actually more expensive in terms of mass to LEO to fly the shuttle then it is to fly many expendable vehicles. This is due to the large amount of labor that needs to be used to prepare the shuttle for each flight. The shuttle is also not fully reusable because it drops its external tank and solid rocket boosters. It is expensive to recover and refurbish the tank. A true reusable lauch vehicle shold be single stage to orbit. It will probably be partly based on hypersonic air breathing technology (scram jet, falcon). The x prize helped to spur more private investment in aero space technology. However Burt Ruttens space ship one is only a suborbital vehicle. Not only can it not reach orbit but it cannot survive reentry. I would love to take a ride in it but it is only a baby step towards a non government funded space program. I agree that the computers have gotten better but what does this mean in terms of rockets? It means better control systems. As a consequence longer rockets could be built. However, this does not mean much in terms of performance since the performance of a rocket depends on the mass ratio and the specific impulse.
  10. I agree with the poster that says this is not a unique idea. Others have blamed the fall of the Roman Empire on similar decadence. But was it decadence that led to the fall of the empire or attacks from the northern barbarians combined with internal disagreements. On the country side people have talked about how the frontier has stimulated innovation in early America and help to make America Strong. Such proponents have even claimed we need a new frontier (mars) to keep our society from My stagnation or declining after it reaches its peak. The frontier ideology is equally difficult to back up with history and is not as glories as its proponents would have you think. One the side, technology is a tool and it can be used to save us or destroy us. For instance the technology could be developed to help us survive after a nuclear war or an extinction level asteroid collision. Such technology is only a baby step to the much longer survival of the human species. In about a billion years as the sun makes its transition into a red giant the sun will engulf the earth in its own flames IIRC. At the peak of the suns growth it will reach the orbit of mars. In a much shorter period of time (a few 100 million years) all the waters of the oceans will boil away. What ever we do in the short term with technology and the environment will only be good in the short term. In the long term the human species has much bigger problems and if it is able to cope we must make the transition to a space fairing species.
  11. I do agree that some limits on it would be a good thing. However it does give a weaker player a chance to take on a smaller player. I suggest perhaps a time limit on how long you must wait before creating a new battle against the same person. This would give someone more time to defend themselves. However, the system now is not totally bad. If you have allies in the game you can ask them to perform a retaliatory strike to anyone that battles in this manner.
  12. For now just joing a clan. Fight people in the battle areana or in the training mode. When more players joing alliances are going to be very important because by creating more then one battle you can attack someone multiple times before they strike back. If people have each others messenger addresses they can warn team mates of enemies before they nock everyone off. If everyone is dead you can play the training mode but the enemies in the training mode have gotten pretty powerfull for beginners to take on.
  13. Do you realy need to spend 3-4 hours a day? What package do you have? How many posts do you average a day and how many lines are each one? Where do you post. remember some forms like the vent don?t count. I spend a fair amount of time but I spend most of it reading or playing army and not posting.
  14. Some capabilities have gotten better and some have gotten worse. It is not like we have been flying to the moon for 35 years. Sure technology has advanced and we will do a much better job when we go back this time. Who are you responding to anyway. Please give the name of the person you are responding to and quote the most relevant section.
  15. I only average 1.98 posts a day and I got 47.79 hosting credits and the credit system only existed for a moth so I don't think it is that hard. In a year I should have a years worth of hosting credits.
  16. I could see why you would get banned for that. Copying is a definite no no. If quoting something add some of your own comments. As for coping and pasting a link make sure it is relevant. Make sure it isn?t already in the thread. You may even want to provide a brief comment on what it contains and rate the quality of the material. I think you should of got more warnings though. Only giving one warning and little explanation is awful harsh. Antitrust got banned for copping posts but he did it a lot before he got banned. Then again maybe the mods are fed up with new members not taking enough effort to learn the rules. People come on to this site as I did impatient to find a suitable web host and with misconceptions of what is expected. Perhaps this frustrates the moderators. edit: I just briefly looked over your posts to and they don?t seem overly short. I do suggest putting quotes around material you taken from other web sites just incase the material in the quotes is not included in the word count. That is to make sure your not cheating. Although looking at your rep it appears that your spam may have been deleted.
  17. I voted for Ryu but in the original street fighter I think Ken has a better standing kick and I like his summersault throw.
  18. Wired Cloning examples. Imaging the pressure a kid would face if he was told he was Albert Einstein?s clone. Imagine how much a kid would get beat up if he was hitters clone? Some kids (not me) have trouble living up to their parents expectations. Imagine if you were expected to become someone famous just because you had the same Jeans. On the other side of the cloning, if the kid didn?t live up to it the parents could not blame genetics. Who would they blame. Themselves, the neighbors kids. Or would the respect that the clone is a unique individual free to make his/her own choices in life. Remember if identical twins are not identical.
  19. Your joking right. What you do, mandate that every sexually active girl takes a birth control test every week? For girls to take birth control tests at schools? Could you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they didn?t take the test if the mother claimed she did and it didn?t work?
  20. Go figure. I always enjoyed them when I was younger. Now who cares I watched a lot of porn so a sex scene is nothing. I remember watching a few scenes from basic instinct over and over when I was younger. Before the internet I use to know how to set the timer on my VCR.

    Strippers

It?s unfortunate that you have to put up with that you have to put up with that. The striping profession is a double edge sword. It gives woman an opportunity that is not available to many men but it comes at a cost in terms of how other treat them. I really which more men respected woman better. I am curious, if a man is a gentlemen but offhandedly indicated that he would be interested in more sometime would that bother you as much?
  22. After about 9 Apollo missions Apollo was killed and eventually one president said the dream is dead. The hardware was retired and allowed to Detroiter to an unusable state. The moon missions were launched on a Sturan V rocket witch could lift about 200 tons to low earth orbit. As a comparison the shuttle I think can lift in the 20-40 ton range. The shuttle is a terribly expensive vehicle due to the amount of labor required to prepare it for each flight and the necessity to lift a huge orbiter up each flight. The shuttle costs about a billion dollars per flight. NASA receives from the government about 20-40 billion dollars a year and I think to put it is perspective the national science foundation receives about 10 billion dollars a hear. Not only can the shuttle not lift the required mass to LEO but there is no way to attach an upper stage to the carry the shuttle from LEO to the moon. There probably isnt even an obvious way to attach a Lander to the shuttle. The Saturn V being a bigger vehicle would obviously be a much bigger vehicle then the shuttle and therefore is even more expensive. The Saturn V dropped 80 engines into the ocean each flight. During the Apollo program the overwhelming cost of these lauches could not be justified on a scientific basis, an exploration/settlement basis. So it was killed. NASA later built the shuttle and the ISS to preserve the agency buy ensuring a large amount of funding. The consequence is were stuck in LEO for decades. Today, the scientific tools have advanced considerably, we have methods to improve on the old rocket designs, and way have improved our knowledge of how to live off extraterrestrial resources. George bush has initiated a new version for space exploration based on sustainable funding within the current budget, learning to operate, and explore from the moon and beyond. We have returned to a capsule based design which are much lighter and can possible be utilized with existing rockets. Exciting times await us and we will be go to the moon and mars sometime in the coming decades. But this time we will be going to stay.
  23. Can you convert open office documents to LaTeX. In word if you use Mathtype when you can set the preferences so when you save to text the formulas will be converted to LaTex. I think some of the Visual Basic Macro features of words could be handy if I better new how to utilize them. Does open office have similar features?

    Kenka

Spinderink Your're right: From: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ edit: P.S. Anyone fight ultimate weapon yet? I ran into him on the main map. He did 9999 points of damage using his fists and I did one point of damage using my long sword. I wonder if magnuus can take him?

    Kenka

Trying to find some strategy in this game I notice the enemies keep getting strong and stronger. I think that is because everyone keeps attacking them and they keep gaining experience. Perhaps if we battle each other we may be able to win more battles. Good luck installing it. Hopefully someone can work out the bugs in the game. On the kenka message boards I think the guy said that the code can be modified. You just can?t strip out the credits.
