  1. i think networking to make money has it's pros and cons. the benefit to NOT networking is....and i will quote "if you want to do something right, you have to do it yourself". but the benefit to networking is that you have a group of people all working together for the same cause and "two minds are better than one". so it all depends. i think ULTIMATELY, networking has more advantages than working alone if done right.
  2. disclosure: i am not religious, but it doesn't mean i don't believe in god or a higher power with that said, i don't see it that way at all. i believe there are things to learn in life and it is different for everyone. sometimes people have to learn to live poor to understand poor. sometimes people have to live rich to understand rich....etc...etc. i believe nature holds a balance and because nature holds a balance, i believe everything has a purpose to it. even the deaths of small children or women being raped where there is no "logical" meaning or sense to it. we are all weak in our own ways and life will test EVERYONE who is weak in their ways. i undoubtedly believe in the survival of the fittest. i also believe we live beyond our "death". in fact that is one thing i know to be true even if i can't prove it. does that mean there is a god? no. does that mean there is a higher power? no. will life give us more than we can handle? no. but some people quit before others and fail lifes' tests and when they are reincarnated, they will have to learn the same things they failed in.....in the previous life there is only one flaw with what i know. the most logical explanation is that there sometimes has to be imbalance to create balance. although i disagree with what you said whole heartedly, i like the way you think...because you are thinking.....as we ALL should do on a deeper level.
  3. cats in the cradle by harry chapin has to be one of the most realistic and depressing songs on the list. one of my favorite songs even if i can't relate to it entirely....
  4. great! that is what i am talking about. i like that detailed information and it's good to get back on track here.ok. so from this, we should all assume that black holes exist? i have read similar things in the past, but i am still not totally convinced that what you wrote about is a "black hole". sure, a black hole is defined and what we have observed in the past in following stars, and the gases or the light illuminating from the gases disappearing in blackness sort of goes along with the theory of what a black hole is, but we are only taking one scenario to say that this is proof?even YOU said that science tends to disprove rather than prove. but i didn't agree totally with that statement either since i know that science CAN prove things beyond a reasonable doubt over time. i say reasonable doubt because i do believe nature is unpredictable at times(the universe being part of nature in my definition) and science will never have the ability to prove everything.... just disprove SOME things.i am too tired to think right now. i will have to continue tomorrow. i just don't understand why light that "should" illuminate after a period of time, means that whatever was illuminated, entered a "black hole". i understand how a star can implode and create a gravitational pull. what i DONT understand is how something can become nothing unless the energy of that something is transformed making the original energy look like nothing.now again, i may be ignorant in this area, but i do like to exersize my simple mind once in a while....i am also curious about black holes in the sense of their density and mass. i think obviously, the more denser and massive, the more gravitational pull. but when something is so dense, how would one ever reach the center? if something was that dense and so massive that nothing can escape it, then it would be safe to assume that a black hole GROWS....yet there are theories that say black holes get smaller. if both are true, what is the final outcome of a black hole then? what does it leave behind? or does a black hole just recreate itself by imploding again just like the star did?anyway, food for thought for this simple mind who has been drinking tonight and thank you for allowing us to get back on topic. this topic has always fascinated me.....some of the mysteries of the universe....and what it all means and the purpose behind it....
  5. i am not having that issue, jonny. i see images and i see the icons such as the "start a new topic". if you couldn't see the icon though, how were you able to start this topic? :)i am using firefox as well...
  6. what exactly does any of what you just said have to do with black holes? see not only have you bragged about a teacher several times like it supposed to mean something, but you told me specifically you are a moderator or used to be a moderator on more than one forum when you kept breaking the rules here quoting things without using quote tags, double posting, and now not speaking on topic. what does being a moderator on different forums mean if you can't even follow the rules of the forums you are in? as a moderator you should know better. as someone who has the credentials you brag about, you should know better. someone with any little bit of common sense should know better. just because you think you're better than everyone else doesn't meant he rules don't apply to you. every topic you are in, you portray a person you are talking to as a lower class person compared to yourself. but again, what does your last post have to do with black holes? or are you going to continue repeating yourself that since i don't know physics as much as certain experts do, i shouldn't have a voice here? i keep asking you what gives you the right to tell anyone that they cannot post their opinions and beliefs without those people being shot down as to not knowing anything? what gives you that right? what gives you the right to destroy someone elses topic that they started because they were interested in the theory of black holes just like i am? and even interested in coming up with theories of our own even if we aren't qualified under your standards? who is qualified to speak here about black holes, bikerman? you and bani only because you both showed an interest in physics? gimme a break. there is no misunderstanding. you keep bragging about your credentials. you even did it in private pm with me. i am not going to go re read everything you said just to list everything you keep bragging about. that is stupid to even ask when you know you have been doing exactly what i have stated. i am not going to waste my time while you play stupid. contradiction? there is no contradiction except for your own misconceptions. physics is NOT basic science! haha physics can be said to be a fundamental science but it doesn't define science! that statement you made is preposterous coming from a teacher. i really hope you aren't a science teacher. you don't have to explain psychics to me. i took it in college. it was(in my opinion)one of my favorite classes. and plus, i think you just like to make up things as you go along.... if i post something irrelevant, who cares? i am not trying to debate anything with anyone even though you want to try and string me along to create an arguement. personally, i think a lot of what YOU say is irrelevant to to topic at hand in regards to black holes. instead of trying to discredit me, why don't you try to answer my basics thoughts on black holes instead of giviving everyone the run around as you are VERY good at doing with your mumbo jumbo. it doesn't surprise me that you would want to try and hide the threads you post in here from the people who hired you as a teacher. i said from the start that i knew you would be afraid if the truth got out in who you really are. it's good to be in agreement on this. anyway, i already know you work at river*... so it's not like you would be telling me something i don't already know. again, i think the staff there will be VERY interested in how you are possibly teaching our future generation. but if you are not going to confirm, can you please confirm which forums you are a moderator on or have moderated? i want to verify that information too. but anyway, i know a lot about you. more than you probably want me to know. this is why i can accurately talk about you without being ignorant(as you would call me) that wasn't a lie..... please tell me if you saw me ask a question in that last quote. was there a question mark? what i said was in form of a STATEMENT made. not a question. there is a HUGE difference but i am so glad you made it very easy for me to disprove you as a teacher once again and as a person here in the forum who tries so desperately to hide his ignorance and confusion. those two quotes were actually directed at bani, not you....so why are you even quoting me(and then misquoting me) as if i were talking to YOU? now that i have adhered to your misc. and irrelevant babble, can we NOW get back to the discussion of black holes even if you don't like the way that *I* like to talk about them? your arguments against me are pointless and serve no purpose except to stop talking about black holes entirely.
  7. you sure HAVE mentioned your creditials. not once, but several times. that to me is bragging. just to enlighten you. once is enough. people heard you the first time. ok? who cares what scientists use. i am not a scientist. are you? i could care less if you know two physicists. if you actually knew what you were talking about, or could come up with something original, you'd be working in that field. don't talk to me about how science is is only explicable to those with basic math skills. science is a lot more than just physics and math and can be explained quite well to others without a WIT of math skills. fortunately, i DO have math skills. but does that enable me to know the physics behind all science? absolutely NOT. again, i do not care what scientist use to determine things. i am not an expert in that field so i will leave it up to those experts. i never asked if the existance of a black hole can be proven. again, you are misunderstanding for some reason. my english is not that hard to understand. what i said was, SHOW evidence that a black hole exists. it was a statement. i want to be shown how a black hole exists. they say there is one in the middle of our galaxy but fail to even know where it is. this was the basis of my statement because i do not know how one can determine if there is a black hole in our galaxy if they can't even determine where it is. i do want to understand how the basic science works around proving if a black hole exists. what i DON'T want to understand is all the mumbo jumbo. i don't need to understand it. all i need is for someone to explain so i can research what is being said further. since i am not sure weather black holes exist or not, i like to take in all information and come up with my own conclusion whether i believe they exist or not. so now it doesn't matter what i believe? now i am ignorant? hmmm. that's nice coming from a teacher. i wonder why your students are in your classroom to begin with. do you call them ignorant? do you tell them that their beliefs don't matter either? some teacher you are... your true colors come out in every thread you post in. can you please tell me what school you teach at so i can forward all the threads you replied to to them and allow them to determine if you are qualified to teach? if you don't tell me, i understand. i know you would be afraid of being found out.... i don't expect the universe to be comprehensible to me. did i imply that at all? no i did not. if i did, please state a direct qoute. again, you are confused with basic english when i stated clearly already that all i wanted to know more about are black holes, the theories and the possibilities. i will NEVER expect to understand the universe. i have a hard enough time understanding people and the deeper side of life. it's a rewarding challenge. i stated that scientist use a bunch of mumbo jumbo to explain things. i think they try to be more technical than they have to be. how is it anyones fault if two people don't understand eachothers language? even though i think you are very technical in the language you choose to speak, i never critisized it once. if that is your way of speaking to people, then by all means, speak it that way. but if i don't understand something you said, then i wont hesitiate to tell you even if you are confused by my confusion. you have friends who go to other countries and speak like retards? loud and slow? what does that have to do with anything? you are comparing your friends to me because i am speaking a foreign language? hmmm again, i do not want to better understand physics than i already do. there is no need for me to waste my time on a language i will never use in my every day life. what i believe and know is more than you will ever know about me. unlike you, i don't go bragging about my credetials when i am talking to someone. have you seen me do this when i am talking to you? no. you have done it several times like it should mean something. well i don't do it because it doesn't mean jack. i have known many people who seem to know alot because they read a bunch of books, but in actuality, know very little because they have little experience outside of their books. so now let me give you one of my basic philosophies in life. if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't living. it's how we learn. i will be the first to admit i am a dummy. i always have been, but i will tell you one thing. i learn from my mistakes. by doing that i become more knowledgable and wiser. not be learning. by DOING and by QUESTIONING even if i am a dummy in the area in question. now if you have a problem with that or how i choose to live my own life, then that is ok. no skin off my back, but i will have to always disagree with you when you start making false assumtions in things you know abosultely nothing about. i will call you on it every time with your foot in your mouth only making you look stupid until you wise up and admit YOU don't know it all to say half the things you have said recently. i sound ridiculous and pomous? to you maybe. to some others....maybe that is true too. at least i don't go starting arguements in every thread i am in and disrespect other peoples beliefs and opinions and questions. so again....maybe you should look in the mirror before judging others because again.....i think you are the pot calling the kettle black and i think you are in denial. my beliefs in black holes or science may not matter one bit, i agree. i am not out to influence science or make a name for myself by coming up with a new theory. but are you? are you going to do anything but cite what you read or are you ever going to come up with something original? maybe whatever your belief in science is not worth a jot if all you are going to do is copy other peoples work for your own beliefs. there is a name for that. it's called a follower. a word i use to describe people who follow any specific religion and live by the rules that religion dictates. in some ways, science is a religion in and of itself....instilling strong beliefs in theories and hypothesES. you are REALLY a muture teacher, you know that? are the words "whooptie do" something you say when you cleary don't have the words to explain yourself because you are just utterly confused in how to communicate properly?
  8. i am sorta curious why you think the order of the days would be insignificant. whether things happened in the order decribed or didn't happen in the order described. i see a significance either to the hisotry, the person who wrote it that way, or the reasons "why" if they were written out of order. i actually find some significance to it.day and night. it was argued two ways. 1 way it was argued was that there was no chronological order. to me, if part of the bible can't be taken literally, then what SHOULD be taken literally? the other way it was argued was there was no definition of what day or night was and day and night could have meant something else besides what we know today. if that is true, then maybe the sun and the stars aren't really the sun and the stars either. if "day" and "night" may have a different meaning, then why shouldn't the "sun" and "stars" and alot of the other stuff that isn't defined clearly in the bible for people to understand it? was the bible written for people NOT to understand it?to me, i think the old testimate is a joke and should have no basis of discussing a faith in religion. you say whether someone believes in the old testimate or not doesn't change anything. it may not change anything, but it sure is relevant to the discussion. i would LOVE to know who the christians are that believe in the old testimate compared to those who don't believe.and one last thought. does one have to have faith in the old testimate to even be considered a christian? if not, we are talking about 1/2 of a holy book that you don't have to have faith in? if so, how can you possibly have faith in something where you don't even know what "night" and "day" is?
  9. yes i agree 100%.i think it's the #1 thing that makes someone a good leader. in other words, a good leader has to be a team player. i remember quiting one of my jobs because the manager wasn't a team player. all she would do is boss people around. she would critisize them openly in public while others were around. she didn't have a problem with me. in fact, i was going to go far in that place of business. she liked me, but i didn't admire her one single bit so i quit when i was managing a pizza place with about 15 employees, i would get my hands diry bussing tables and cleaning drains after hours. the more you can follow being a team player, the more others will respect you and it will go to show that the people under your position will work harder. if one just bosses people around to LEAD, then that person will lose the respect of his/her coworkers. sure there are times where you have to JUST lead, but if you JUST lead, you can never be a good leader. also, it's important to show people that you can actually do what you are leading them in to. so one has to have first hand knowledge and SHOW that you have first hand knowledge before you are able to lead someone in to doing what you want them to. telling someone what to do when you don't have first hand knowledge or unwilling to show that knowledge by doing FIRST, isn't going to go far in my opinion. you wont gain any admiration or respect from your co workers and in turn, wont be as productive. but if one is a good leader while being able to lead AND follow, a lot of the other important things to run a business productively will fall in to place. to me, running a business with employees is like a marriage. you have to count on eachother and work as a group to get things done.
  10. ummm sorry bud. nursery school doesn't teach science. i studied it in college level but not a lot that had to do with knowing about black holes. you did double post. check again. you like trying to discredit me but it never works. i know you wont appologize. i only said you SHOULD. i said the comment about bragging you are a teacher because you keep talking about your credentials.TRUE! i don't know how much i don't know, but the same goes for you and everyone else. so what was your point in saying that? to just be intentionally offensive to me when it applies to everyone? and why would that dictate that it would be pointless to teach someone that doesn't know how much they don't know? are you trying to scare innocent people away from discussions again because they don't live up to your standards?i wanted to listen and talk about black holes. i didn't say i would agree with anything you had to say. see, i am just an average joe blow on this subject. why would we talk about black holes if we don't know if they exist? isn't it right to talk about if they even exist first? i mean, if they don't exist, what would be the point of even talking about them or having theories about them? i personally am not a believer that they exist, but i wont rule out the possibility since a couple of the theories which explain how they would be formed(if they do exist) make sense to me on my basic level of trying to understand the physics.
  11. i didn't lie. i didn't say the above quote. YOU did. so i wanted to compare what you said to what i said about your wife's beliefs is she an exception to your beliefs and freedoms of speech? if you aren't the hypocrite, then obviously you don't respect your wife's beliefs according to the quote you wrote above. i am done with you. i have proven my points over and over and over again and you like to argue about things that don't matter and you like to stray away from the original topic. but i will STILL take my firm stand by stating again that you and people like you are part of the worlds biggest problems. i have run in to your kind many times. you have no resepct for peoples beliefs. if someone says something, you are SO quick to call them a liar and how the way they word things are wrong. you want people to believe the way YOU believe. you want people to think like YOU. the free speech you promote is only beneficial if it applies to YOU. not the people knocking at your door exercising their free speech. you look down on people if you think you know more than them. your response when someone calls you a hypocrite is to call THEM a hypocrite. you choose to believe that black holes exist over a god even when you can't prove that either exists or even disprove that either exists. so while you are trying to hide your good qualities, i will try to find them. and i will.....because i am tired of hearing your b.s and the only way to find those hidden good qualities is to dig deeper through your b.s. now i have given you my proof in how i didn't lie in what you took personally offensive. i am not a liar or dishonest or have some form of learning disability(haha were you trying to teach me something? because right now, *I* am the teacher....BAD student!). there is a difference between dishonesty and being brutally honest and telling people something about them they don't want to hear and don't want others to know about them. if you came to this forum to argue false logic and insult other peoples beliefs and way of thinking, you came to the wrong place. because in fact, i will ALWAYS support respecting other peoples beliefs in this forum. something a newbie like you refuses to do. now if you are done now because the truth came out, then walk away. that is your choice. the rest of us can get back on topic. after all you wanted to talk about was religion and beliefs.
  12. oh god. are you bringing your crappy talk and pointless arguements in this thread too? you don't have to repeat what i already said that i am not a physisist or a scientist but to go so far as to say i don't even have basic knowledge of science is pretty lame considering everyone who has ever gone through pre college and through college have had to take some forms of science classes. oh but no. we don't know 2 physists like you so that is reason enough to try to say someone doesn't know anything at all about science. i have better things to do than learn the mumbo jumbo. just like programming languages now. doesn't mean i don't have knowledge. i also stated that i find this thread interesting so i would rather talk to people how i would normally talk. not in nerd talk. i think everyone can learn some interesting theories or possibilities in this thread so to limit people because you say they have no knowledge of science is ridiculous. if someone were to read what you just said, and don't have much knowledge of science, they would be afraid just to enter this conversation because you have stated you wont waste your time with those people here. and btw- this is the third time you have double posted. stop wasting moderators time by having to merge your posts. i think you owe a lot of people an appology if you are going to scare them off with your high and mighty talk that you know more and others shouldn't be allowed in this conversation because it would be a waste of YOUR time. i mean you brag about being a teacher but can't even teach in this thread unless someone knows the same or more than you do? get off your high horse pal.
  13. that doesn't sound like a good offer if it was half of what he was making, but deadmad is correct. don't be greedy. take any job you can until you find a better one. i am sorry about your loss. it seems to me there are going to be more opportunities in texas than maryland. you just need to be where the opportunities are. try to get something in writing that states why you were let go. you will definately qualify for unemployement until you find another job. it might even pay more than taking a janitor job. you never know. it depends on how much you made. keep your head up. you aren't the only person who has ever lost a job. i know the responsibility is tough to keep pushing forward. who knows, maybe this was an opportunity to find something better in the long run. life is strange that way sometimes. also keep an open mind in what you have wanted to to. this may be your opportunity to do it.
  14. haha! that's pretty funny bud bikerman, i know why you are getting a headach. it's because you hate being confronted by someone elses truth besides your own. when it comes to people and understanding them, i am FAR from confused. that's why i entered this topic. i saw what you were doing and thought it was wrong so i decided to dig a little deeper and found out a lot more than i wanted to know from a so-called "teacher". sounds to me you are so wrapped up being a "teacher", you refuse to be taught anything except what you read. to choose not to believe in something specific, IS a belief. you are actually making a choice not to do something according to your own beliefs. i am sorry if that confuses you. i am sorry you don't get it. i am sorry that other people have to listen to your lies and hypocracies and ignorance and stupidity. yes i said it. you are all three. actually, i don't think your stupid, but you sure act it. you are more ignorant about people than anything else. and yes, when i can read several things that you have said in the past that contradict, it makes you a hypocrite. we protect beliefs by respecting their beliefs even if we don't agree with them. we also should choose to resepect them as individuals. just because over a billion people follow a certain religion doesn't mean they are the same. this is where your ignorance really shines through by telling someone you wrote a cartoon knowing it would cause tention. you not only held no respect for the religion, but you held absolutely no respect to the individual you were talking to. you don't see anything good. you just see something to argue. that is VERY subjective of you. you even admited to chini that is why you are argueing. because you like to argue. you even put a smiley face after your words like this is some kind of joke to you. so now you create a specific scenario for me to answer about creationism. i will answer it. yes. you respect that belief as much as you respect your freedom of speach you keep preaching about. it's quite simple really. if you believe so strongly in freedom of speach and that act should be respected, then obviously, you should believe is freedom of beliefs whether or not they are put in to words or not. doesn't a belief come before freedom of speach? if you don't believe in anything or have nothing to talk about, then what good would promoting freedom of speach? this is just another example of your hypocracy. you can respect their freedom of speech but not their beliefs? that is contradictory! why would someone die for a cause? i dunno. are you saying there is nothing in this world dying for? maybe for you there isn't. things may be nonsense to YOU but it may not be nonsense to someone else. personally, i think YOU are the one talking nonsense right now. well, i am really really glad that you are liking what i am saying right now or you would have walked away a long time ago. is that the case? but btw, i can have power in my words whether you walk away or not. i think people like you are a big problem in society. you think i would stop talking about my own beliefs just because you walk away? you're outta your mind to even assume that. if i believe in something so strong, i will keep talking until i am blue in the face and keep on talking until my face turns another color. you are trying to turn my statement around. instead of speach being a powerfull tool, you are saying an audience is a more powerfull tool. true. as i stated before, the more people listening, the more powerfull speech becomes so it's just a matter of finding an audience even if one man walks away. there will ALWAYS be someone listening unless someone just likes talking to themselves. like right now. if you walked away, it wouldn't give me less power. it would give me MORE power for reasons beyond your understanding. but simply put, i have more ears on me that agree with my point of views than you do. there is alwaysa chance for domestic violence? why do you say that? because statistics shows that it happens? if you take every couple in the world and compare domestic violence, OFCOURSE there is a chance of it. what is your point???you and your wife have an equal power balance? how is that possible? you already stated it is impossible to respect someone elses beliefs so if you don't respect your wifes beliefs, what makes it equal? she doesn't respect yours? haha! some relationship you have going there. either way i look at it it seems a bit dysfuctional. one thing that makes a marriage a marriage is that two people are joined together to become dependant on one another. when you live dependant on eachother. not just the wives, but the husbands too. if you can't depend on the other person, how is there a marriage? you talk about students having to listen to you? no buddy. they don't have to. they can choose NOT to listen to you, they can choose to ditch your class, they can choose to daydream or even fall asleep while you are lecturing. they do NOT have to listen to you. any teacher actually paying attention to all his stupids KNOW that what you are saying is not true. students do NOT have to listen. if they don't, it might hold a consequence. maybe it's a good consequence if this is how you talk to your students. you said you were going to publish a cartoon. obviously if you're going to publish something, it will have it's reader base already or you are just wasting time, money and effort. maybe that's you. i dunno. maybe you will have nobody to see the cartoon. i am not judging that. i hope you don't. that is just my preference but i think it's fair to assume you do and to try to state otherwise is trying to control this conversation with your freedom of speech you look so highly on even when your freedom of speech decieves people. you don't see a problem with your freedom of speech? i do. so do others. you don't have to answer to me at all. i agree. but you keep answering. yes, i read several threads that you attacked peoples religious views. i sorta enjoyed the banter between you and truefusion. i would even go so far to say that that was more of a healthy debate than anything else. you two are two peas in a pod in my opinion. both subjective and both stubborn. i kinda got a kick outta watching you two go at it while i was just a fly on the wall. and believe me, i read more topics here than you will ever know. just because i don't get involved doesn't mean i am not there. i am EVERYWHERE here but no. attacking peoples believe is not all what you do. that i can say flat out. i respect a lot what you have to offer. and btw- i don't have faulty perceptions. if i did, i must have a faulty perception of anything good you had to offer in other threads. or are my perceptions only faulty when you don't agree with my perceptions? it's funny you can bring up perception because i can probably write a book on it and i will be GLAD to debate you in another thread about perceptions and what people see. your arrogance dictates that if you don't percieve something to be true, it must not be. your a teacher. you can't afford to be wrong and look foolish.....can you. what would people think if your perceptions your own self were not always right? don't talk about my faulty perceptions until you look in the mirror. you're the pot calling the kettle black. differences are not good? i couldn't even read what you wrote after that haha sorry. i have no time for ignorance. i will tell you this though. you know what makes up a good marriage? where one is weak in one area, the other is strong. this is why i said earlier that a marriage is two people who depend on eachother. their differences are actually their strengths. same goes for non marriage. people living in a society of differences. people picking up the slack where other people are weak in certain areas. actually, i just read what you said. the differences between a creationist and and atheist should be for a whole other topic. not this one. it's too much to say on that subject and if i were to indulge it, we would be getting off topic here. but i can argue that the differences can make the two stronger. not weaker. i can and will argue that if you start a seperate thread on it. i know it's easy to be blind in how two opposite people can actually hold something in common, but i see it as clear as day my friend. the fact that you don't see it doesn't make it NOT true. again....perception. how people see things..... that wasn't exactly what i said about expressing beliefs, but i am not going to argue with you. it was simple logic. if you didn't understand it, that is your problem. stop trying to falsely represent what i said or it will cause more confusion. i have pointed out several instances where you were contradictory already. please go back and re-read. you must have skipped those parts. i understand why you may have. nobody likes to look like they don't know what they are talking about. you lost me. let's NOT talk in nerd language. is that how you talk to everyone you know? some people are biggots. some people are racists some people have not so good qualities in the eyes of others. that does NOT mean their whole belief system is wrong. what i am saying and what i have always said is that all religions or all beliefs systems(in whole) are not just BAD. they hold something good and the hold something that others can learn from. to ignore someone just because you see the bad or something you don't agree with with ultimately limit you in the other things you can see which are GOOD. so when you choose to disassociate yourself, you aren't hurting anyone but your own self. you aren't learning a darn thing because you aren't understanding the whole picture of who a person is. don't go through a list. i was never talking about the individual pieces of a puzzle. i was talking about the whole picture. if we judge a puzzle just by the pieces that we see first, and choose not to see the rest of the pieces, then the puzzle can never be viewed and that is a shame because the puzzle, in effect, is a masterpiece. i know you may hold no patience to understand people. but patience in key to understanding sometimes....especially when some people are very deceptive in who they really are. if you don't hold patience, how can you be a good teacher? you can you judge a whole person my one thing they said or one thing they believe in or one thing they did that you may not agree with? i am sure there is a lot more to people than the fact that other people may disagree with SOME of their choices.
  15. first of all, i am not a scientist or a physicist so i don't plan on taking the role of one before i die nor will i ever try to understand them or talk like one. i am just not them. in fact, there are more important things in life than technical mumbo jumbo that explains absolutely nothing and proves absolutely nothing. i do agree that science doesn't prove a thing. what may be true one day, is false the next day so you can't really base anything on science. but science does take in to consideration theories and observations and even theories based on factual knowledge that is constant.so my whole point is, why would i ever take a definition of a black whole as a concrete definition if black holes have yet to be proven to exist? i am not. that was my point. that is me and that's the way i roll with life in general.also, let's not bring religion in to a black hole topic and let's not say religion is even based on truth/proof/certainty. it's based on faith and faith alone. that's why they call it a belief and that is why there are more than one religion for different faiths.now let's get back on topic. like i said in my previous post, since bani says black holes exist, i want the evidence behind it and the people behind it who know for sure they exist so i can argue my point. otherwise, nobody should be saying black holes even exisist. just the possibility or even probabability. certainly not a formula based on the definition of a black hole. that would just define further what a black hole is.....not that it exists.
  16. i don't have a theory bani. i just like listening to the possibilities.black holes have been proven to exist? is that so? who proved they exist? please give me resources that prove they exist and who proved it.like i said, i will NEVER accept a definition of any word that can have the possibility of meaning more than the current definition. that is my personal choice. you are free to believe whatever you want a definition of a word should be unchangeable for the most part so it is allowed to be accepted by the majority of people. unufortunately, when it comes to scientific definitions based on theories, i tend to not go with those definitions since the definition can always change based on new evidence or facts. i mean bani, the meaning of the definition "black hole" is a lot different that the meaning of the definition "house". everyone knows what a house is for the most part. but you can't definine a black hole when you don't even know what it truely is but again, you go believe anything you want. i wont stop ya
  17. ehhhhh i don't really agree with the weening off process. this guy needs to take a break from them. what he feels could be the start of feeling love for them. like i said. but it can't possibly be the start of starting a relationship with either one. also, if he did have that chance, and dated one, he would still feel lonely without the other ones companionship. this is why he needs to take a break from them cold turkey to have time for his own thoughts and figure out where his feelings are coming from. in any case, he still needs to respect the relationships they are already in.so my thoughts are that he is getting hurt because he doesn't have the opportunity to explore his feelings more with these women to see if it's true love. he's feeling something he's confused about, he can't pursue his feelings, and it's a test to see how strong of a friend he can be to two people he cares about. i still say taking a break from them to clear ones head is the best solution for now. he needs to find some balance and nobody ever said finding balance is easy
  18. see bani, we had this debate before about definitions. i will NEVER accept a scientific definition from a theory that hasn't been proven. sorry bud. that means i don't accept the definition you gave because most likely it is incomplete.my whole point in jumping in is not only am i interested in other peoples views on a very interesting topic, it's nice to imagine the what ifs once in a while even if you say the evidence doesn't support it. the evidence why have NOW may not support it but while new evidence is gathered, i am so the theories will evolve from the new evidencealso, although most of the experts in this field of black hole theories believe they exist, some are still reluctant to believe they do. so bani, are you going to tell an expert that they aren't doing their math? you give a definition of a black hole, but before we can actually PROVE they exisit, how can there be an accurate definition?
  19. i still don't know why you quoted what you did when we were talking about YOUR beliefs. at least i was until you started quoting other people. i know you see the confusion why everyone should respect peoples differences. but i will tell you why. it's because our differences bond us together. i don't have to agree with a full religious belief to respect it. i see the good in it to respect it. are you saying there is no good in any other peoples personal beliefs that should never be respected? now seriously bikerman, if you believe that, then i take away my hypocrit comment will just call you a fool from now on. you're a teacher buddy. you of all people should know what would happen if your students didn't respect your own personal beliefs in being a teacher. again, we ALL have something to learn from eachother and everyones beliefs in that sense should ALWAYS be respected! now i never said i respect all religious beliefs or believe in them. if i did, i would be religious myself. what i do is take in what means something to me while seperating the b.s. for ME and my own personal beliefs and the way i choose to live my life oh yea, that to. the rights of others and their beliefs should be protected as long as their beliefs and action don't support committing major crimes. especially against people. but please don't put words in my mouth as if that was what i was talking about. don't show your ignorance around me. this is not a debate about my own intelligence and what i should have included or said. t.v. just like movies have a rating system. i think cursing is appropriate on some channels and on other channels it is innappropriate. so if you are asking me if i want to see cursing on sesame street, then my answer is no. i would never condone it! and this is the freedom of speech you support? how do we please everyone? we don't. that is why there has to be compromise on both side while respecting both sides by understanding the other persons views to a certain degree as one is capable. excersizing freedom of speech without restrictions is DEFINATLEY power. look at the domestic violence cases where men were verbally abusive to women and how over time, it changed women's self esteem/self. oh yea....freedom of speech is VERY powerfull! and with it comes great responsibility! i will not stray away from my stand on this one! do i think drawing a cartoon is an excersize of power? depends on the cartoon and what it states and who is seeing it. i can't answer that vague question without mroe details. but the more people who are subject to other people rights of freedom of speech, the more powerfull freedom of speech becomes. i didn't try to intimate that you were only drawing cartoons on one religion. a typical athiest is not anti god or anti religion though. you seem to be since all i see you doing is attatcking all the threads that hold religious beliefs in them. so when i see it more than once, and a pattern forming from your past posts, i can start assuming you are anti religion and i am sure i wouldn't be too off the mark with that statement. atheism is MOST CERTAINLY a belief! it is the belief to NOT believe. it's just not a religion. i am going in to la la land? is that all a teacher can come up with? see i expected nothing more from you. as i stated previously, you don't respect other peoples beliefs and what they have to offer. you have absolutely no understanding of others. this is why you are arguing all the time. not believing in santa clasue is most DEFINATELY a belief! if someone were to tell me that they didn't believe in santa clause, their belief will then be to disbelieve but don't let your freedom of speech and beliefs get in the way of ruining the magic for small children. my 5 beliefs? you will have to quote me so i know what context i was talking about if i even said that at all. also, my personal beliefs outside this thread should be of no concern to you so please don't ask what my personal beliefs towards the gods are. yea, i am with you on that one. i get insulted every time someone preaches to me. that's why i don't like seeing your preaching either. i wouldn't tell a anyone they are a hypocrite unless they showed they were one. you have shown you are one. you just admitted that you get insulted when you get preached to by someone elses beliefs yet you do it your own self. you have done NOTHING but preach disrespectfully in this thread. i only stepped in because i wanted to shed some light on a couple things. if you don't have the respect or understanding in why i say, then fine. if so, even better. like i said. our differences bond everyone together as we all have something to learn from others....even adults learning from children. you want a boring and fulfilling life? try to imagine a world where everyone believed in the same things. let's take it a step further and imagine a world where everyone believed everything you do. who are we going to learn from? can't learn from eachother anymore because evidently in that world, everyone knows it all....or thinks they do. our differences make us unique and special in a way where it allows us to offer something to others that they don't already have. i just don't believe in doing it by breaching and insulting people. that is MY belief where i am taking a stand in this thread. so if you don't believe beliefs are personal, then how did you come to believe in what you did? did someone tell you to believe the way you do? did you read some book and agree with it so that is what you believe today? or was it from your own personal experiences and thought along your personal journy through life? if you don't think your beliefs are personal, please tell me where they came from then. come on... well if you are stating you aren't a hypocrite then, then i can come up with a lot of information about you. i like look at your words, take them literal and assume you believe nothing more than what you are writing that wont ever contradict what you write. i can go through your posts and no nitpick it all and assume the worst in what i am seeing out of your beliefs. i only mentioned hypocracy because maybe.....just maybe you made a mistake in writing what you truely believed. i never said you have religious beliefs. i said flat out that i think your beliefs are ANTI religious beliefs. there is a big differnce there. pay attention to what people write so you don't confuse yourself. my constitution that i was brought up believing in for the most part is not relevant here. you don't live where i do so you will have nothing to relate your comments to just like you have nothing to relate your comments to when you disrespect other people from other cultures. you are possibly right about one thing. my definitions may differ slightly to other peoples definition. if you call that a fundamental problem, then i feel sorry for you because again, all that promotes is everyone being the same and believing the same. i will tell you one thing, when it comes to putting my thoughts to words and to paper, sometimes it is difficult for me but it will NEVER be a disability. not for those who respect other peoples beliefs through trying to understand others. when a jehovas witness comes knocking at my door and i am stupid enough to answer it, yes, i will respect their beliefs even if i don't like the go about teaching others their beliefs. the difference between you and i is i am more respectfull and understanding. i understand these men and women found something that fullfills them. GOOD FOR THEM i say. i think everyone should find that which fullfills them either through religion or other means. i can respect someones beliefs even if i don't agree with them. that's the difference between you and i. i also believe jehovas witnesses have EVERY RIGHT to state their beliefs as long as they aren't doing anything illegal and within the limits of respecting my own beliefs. you see i don't believe what they do. after listening for a minute and respectfully giving them a bit of my time, i can tell them to get off my lawn in a nice way and they normally will respect that. now if i were to curse them when they walk to my door because i don't agree with how they are promoting their beliefs, we would have a problem. it would create negativity from MY end. although i am not perfect, i try to be positive without creating a negative approach to my own beliefs. i try to have a little balance between people and what they believe. if you were sorry you offended him, you would have stopped offending him. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. that is why i told you that you shouldn't appologized. because your appology means nothing. now you are claiming it is neccessary to offend people sometimes? so now we are getting to know you even better now. i am glad. you had no intention of changing the cartoon for one person when i know your cartoon is not directed soley on one person. that would be stupid. you and i both know your true intentions. i see past the b.s. bikerman. even yours. i want to quote what you said so everyone is clear in what YOU believe..... we will be learning things like this from you ever day i would imagine. thanks, but i will stick to my own beliefs. not one who is incapable of understanding others. EDIT: god, i never said that i believe people should respect and admire other peoples beliefs. just respect other peoples beliefs. to admire is to say you agree with the beliefs. respecting them is coming to the understanding that we can learn a lot of good from most any religion or belief. i don't think any religion is BAD nor do i see people as BAD. chini and wd- it's not worth it. he has absolutely no understanding towards others and their beliefs. he's a teacher but can't respect his students belief since the quote above says it is impossible for him to do so. bikerman, i don't come here to argue. i come here to prove a point and to possibly make you see something in a different light or at least admit to how it may be possible that your beliefs have somehow been tarnished through living your own personal life. i will even accept a devil's advocate excuse for being so naive. in any case, you are wrong. this is NOT why some of us argue. this is not why web designer popped in. i was a bit shocked she did because i know her and it had to be something VERY important for her to enter in to a religious debate. again, get your facts straight when you choose to talk about people and why some people feel a need to enter in to a conversation.
  20. buffalohelp if thge mycents system is so stable? why is it still in beta? seems as though you are confused and prematurely closing topics
  21. peronsonally, i don't know who you are quoting or why. i think it's irrelevant since you are talking about YOUR beliefs. and i know you believe in free speech. you have proven that by targeting a religion that you know people will take offense to with no regard to their own belief. she's very little respect. personally, i could care less if someone insults a prophet or a god, but i think there is a certain immoral and low value standard to doing something that you know offends people. freedom of speech in general does not offend people nor should it. it's only those who like that power who will stand by it, promote it, live by it, die by it, and offend people using it. when one has the freedom of speech, one has power. with power, comes responsibility. to offend people just because you CAN is not being responsible or respectfull.nobody is asking you to believe what they believe and nobody is trying to convert you. why do i think you're a hypocrite? maybe you're not. maybe you have no morals, values, or respect for other peoples beliefs including a belief that is supported by over a billion people.now personally, i agree with you that i DON'T agree in killing anyone who insults a phrophet or god. that is ridiculous. if i were to see that, i would have no choice but to protect against it, but i am certainly not gonna go around creating a cartoon about it or intentionally offend someone because i don't belong to that religion. i think that would be naive and very subjective.i absolutely HATE preaching. people who want to convert me to their way of thinking. religions are a personal choice. your belief as an atheist is your own personal choice and should REMAIN personal. not public. THAT is why i call you a hypocrite. because how can a personal belief be personal or even meaningfull when you start expressing YOUR PERSONAL beliefs in public? so in fact you are saying one thing and doing another. you are no better than those hypocrite born again christians who take everything literal. where in the world does it teach them to preach until they piss someone off while not respecting their own personal beliefs? so i see you no better than them.i have to say though...bragging about violence and war and killing people becuase a prophet or god was insulted i am sure not everyone who was born in to that religion support such critical action towards those who should be accuses for no more than being disrespectfull. but i am not from the middle east. i never was born in to the culture which would make their beliefs strong towards their religion. i can't talk about it fully because i am not them. so maybe i am missing something because of that and don't have as much understanding unless i WAS born in to that culture and the history behind it.but if you ask me, you BOTH are part of the worlds major problems in my book until you can accept and respect other peoples beliefs AND know that it is wrong to wage war any anyone just for insulting a phophet or god. and bikerman- you aren't the LEAST bit sorry for offending or you wouldn't be promoting your cartoon. that also makes you a hypocrite. don't appologize to the man when you know EXACTLY how you are abusing your freedom of speech and acting irresponsibly just to try and prove a point. to promote YOUR personal belief over another man's personal belief which would make you look better than that man.
  22. personally, i think you both are idiots. i don't know why you are arguing about religion here. freedom of speech. sure. i believe it needs to be protected to a certain extent, but i sure as heck don't want to protect someone's rights to freedom of speech if the are telling everyone they are going to kill somebody or harm them in any way. as a general rule in society, i feel freedom of speech should be protected, but my personal beliefs differ. such as if i saw someone burning the american flag, i would do everything in my power to stop it. to me there is a fine line between freedom of speech and trying to make a point through insults. especially drawing a cartoon because you have that right to insult a whole religion.now i don't agree with declaring war on people just for insulting a prophet or a god either. that is worse than offending people through freedom of speach in my book. i am not religious, but i do believe all religions have their good points to them. i am not a firm believer in anyone who believes in any one religion either. it's very subjective to say the least....especially when a religion teaches to declare war and even kill those who don't believe or who insult their prophet or god. this is just ludicrous. and if their god and prohpets support the killing of others because others have insulted them in any way, then they are idiots too. talk about self righteous. i was always a believer in turning the other cheek or at least trying to get to a point of understanding why someone would be insulting. not declare war for god sake! not to kill or murder.bikerman, you aren't even religious so to publish a reigious cartoon to me is hypocritical. it's ok not to be religious, but it seems like you are going so far to say indirectly that you are anti religious and trying to start a conflict to show your own personal beliefs that are more important than any organized religious beliefs. that to me is wrong in my OWN personal beliefs for many reasons.Shahrukh- declaring war and you personally believing that another human being should be murdered for insulting a phrophet or god. insults are not violence but you are prepared to use violence and take a mans life? i heave heard you repeatedly state that declaring war is the only option. you know how SICK that is? ofcourse your god and phophets are going to be insluted by those who don't believe in them. this whole thread between you two was nothing but insulting when you both can't respect eachtohers beliefs. and if you believe in what you had repeatedly stated, i suggest you stay in your country because i don't any person with your beliefs that can murder someone living in mine. let's just take it a step further. just kill everyone who doesn't believe in your god or phrophets and goes so far to insult them to where there is nobody else left to kill and you can once again become a peacefull nation, ok?and if you continue your murderous talk about other human beings, you are going to upset me further...
  23. interesting video! i never heard of it before. that is not the force field that we were talking about though haha. it's just a system that can take out an anti tank missle with 360 degree coverage through radar, tracking, and deploying something at the missle to detonate it before it hits the tank. i am still unclear exactly what is deployed though and how it is deployed. at the same time, it is my understanding that they aren't using these devices in real combat yet because it becomes ineffective with every case scenario to save lives in a small radius war zone. in any case, it was a very interesting video....

    I Hate Macs

yea, i had to ditch apple when the mac came out. there was no way i was going to spend 3.5k on something i didn't need. plus there was a lot more software for the ibm compatibles back then. so instead, i invested $1500. but yea, when i was working in post production, all we used were macs. very powerfull but not suited for everyone unless your primary business is sound/video/graphics. i too don't understand why someone is venting with hate after buying their mac. they should have already realized how expensive they were and why. and where in the world are you buying a new mac computer for $1000 these days unless you are talking about a mini mac.?!? from my understanding, they are still about double that price.
  25. i didn't yell it like that....sheeeesh. and here's $5 :)
