  1. Blimey.Does anyone know if the UK's High-Tech crime unit has plans to adopt a similar appoach?
  2. Here are some blonde jokes: Two blondes were driving down the road. On both sides of the roads are corn fields. Suddenly they see a blonde in the middle of a field in a row boat. The driver turned to her friend and said "You know - it's blondes like that that give us a bad name!" Then, the other blonde says "Yeah, I know. If I knew how to swim, I'd go out there and drown her." --- Three blondes walk into a bar. You thikn one of them would have seen it. --- And heres one I found on the net:
  3. Yeah, did that actually happen? I would never have the guts to call the cops and get them involved, wouldn't they trace your number and find out where ou lived?
  4. I've heard some pretty good things about Avast!, but at the moment, my Norton AV subscription doesn't expire for ages, so I'm gonna be stuck with it for a while. On the adware/spyware side of things, I use Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1 (god knows why microsoft gave it such a long name), which is working pretty well. Norton's meant to pick up threats like spyware and adware, but its rubbish at it...
  5. I think I'm gonna order half a ton of these CDs and use them as toasters! Can you remember SP1? It was nothing as fancy as SP2, just a huge slab of updates. After installing it, nothing really changed, your PC was supossedly more secure, but I never trust Microsoft or Bill Gates.
  6. Why not just change the shortcuts in the startup folder in the start menu?
  7. They're Content Management Systems (look at the title of the forum!). I really want to use PHP-nuke, but I can't install it through Fantastico - I need something stupid like 1MB more space. Its really annoying because I have to get 30 hosting credits to upgrade my hosting account, so I can install PHP Nuke, which only really needs 1MB ,more space. Anyway, back to the topic - I think PHP Nuke is really good, even though I have yet to try Mambo(or whatever its called) yet. The only thing is, all PHP nuke sites look the same, themes don't really change that much...
  8. I think that AI, would be brilliant in the service of mankind and the world. But what about all these ideas that the Atificial "creature" gains the intelligence to realise that it is superior than its creators? What happens then? It wouldn't be nice to have a Matrix type future.
  9. Google's brilliant new Google Local and Maps are now available here in the UK (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/preview?source=newuser-ws https://www.google.co.uk/maps/!! When I saw Google Local & Maps, I thought it was great. It was American, but what can you expect from an America based company? I was never expecting such a great service to be rolled out to the UK so quickly. And it works brilliantly, especially for a beta product.
  10. That UNIX admin thing seems to be only part of the easter egg. Look closer at the source and you can see: <!-- Archives of mail sent to this site can be found athttp://just --><!-- By the way, http://just will show this page and then redirect users to the Google page for searching on "foo bar", as will many other variants. -->
  11. Good old Bill Gates! Trust Internet Explorer to have yet another problem... a day doesn't seem to pass without another flaw being found in IE. There must be an infinite amount of flaws for them to keep being found like this.Switch to Firefox, its much better!
  12. Why not just use Dogpile instead? Also, I read somewhere in Google's TOS that Meta Searching via Google aren't allowed, so isn't Dogpile illeagal?
  13. I found this new search engine - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ pretty good, but I don't think I could use it regularly.
  14. Have they actually thought up a name for the new Xbox yet? Last time I checked, there wasn't a name for it yet.I find the fact that the new Xbox wont be able to play old Xbox games. If it can't, its hardly a sequel is it? More like a brand new console under the same name of an older one.
  15. This is absolutely brilliant!!! I love this! I tried translating BBC News and the result was hilarious. Here are a couple of headlines: I can't believe how hilarious this site is! Is there a link to donate?
  16. Yeah, but with sponsored ads overlapping the results, the results are ilegible and therefore useless.
  17. My school is terrible. The computers have very few restricitions on them. For a n00b, they would seem pretty good, but once you really start looking, they're really easy to get into. Rather than actually securing the computers, our network admin simply puts some basic (but easily broken) restrictions on, and gives every computer a smart card. So if you do do anything, when the computer is restarted(you can't logoff - only restart) the hard drive is wiped and replaced with a default copy. The filters are absolutely rubbish, and it is unbeliavably easy to get on porn or anything that should be forbidden. Recently, the admin guy has bought a load of new computers ( http://www.rm.com/404?item=%2fsecondary%2fproducts%2fprodup&user=extranet%5cAnonymous&site=website ). They're really good, except for the fact that they have built in speakers. He hasn't yet figured out how to turn them off. Hey presto, the first time he let students into his computer room, it was filled with music, noise and that anoyying sound windows makes when you start it up. It is absolutely terrible
  18. I blast all the dust away from the vents with a vacuum cleaner once a week, but apart from that, I don't do anything...
  19. I can't stand MSN Search. Google is so much better, and Google got that way by word of mouth. MSN Search bombards you with ads, on TV, in Magazines, on the net.The worst thing is that its not that good at searching. If it were better than Google, then perhaps the advertising would be justified.
  20. Yahoo(scum of the earth) have offered hosting to the Wikimedia Foundation(greatest people ever on the earth). http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I dunno if any of you remember, but Wikimedia were in talks with Google, after MSN announced that Encarta would be available within thier Search. It was all looking good, I thought that Google was going to ally with the Wikimedia Foundation and live happily ever after, etc etc. Then, out of the blue, Yahoo sees whats going on and immediatly offers to host the Wikimedia Foundation. First they'll host them, then they'll put ads on, or links back to Yahoo, and they'll start ahving a specialised "wiki" search on there homepage. I can sense that Yahoo are going to ruin it all...
  21. I've always found the extra Google features amazing. This new Google Q&A thing (see https://www.google.co.uk/googleblog/2005/04facts-fast.html if you don't know what I'm talking about) is brilliant, despite the fact it only seems to work on Google.com Visiting Google Labs is always fun, and Gmail is getting better and better. I think I can safely say that Google is the best search engine in my opinion!

    Wiki Vs Std. Cms?

The downside to wiki is that your site could be vandalised. And since there's no proper forum system, people could modify each other's posts etc.
  23. There aren't any virus in Limewire! Its also completely open source. You can minimize it to the system tray so that your downloads/uploads aren't disturbed whilst you do something else.
  24. I used PHPnuke with my old host (before they went belly up). I'm trying to get it on my account here, but I need 1 extra MB! 1 MB! I've put a thread asking for an extra MB in, but I haven't had an official response yet.As for PHPnuke, I think its great. I does just want I want, and its never worked slowly for me.
  25. I've been to a couple of sites powered by e107, and they've all seemed pretty good.Don't e107 offer a port of a message board, like PHPnuke does? I never realised forums didn't come with it.
