well if people go reviving topics like this you could always look at taking away some of their hosting credits and things that you would do to someone posting useless or spam posts. the whole point of posting to obtain credits can make people do stupid things sometimes.

i think that this is a very innovative idea and would certainly be something i'd use at work to escape the bordom of actually working.a question to someone who has actually used the software, does it have support for plugins like flash, shockwave, quicktime etc?

what it really comes down to is a laptop and a pc with the same specs will perform very similar, however it will cost a great deal more for the components of the laptop, mainly because the components need to be made much smaller and use less power so you don't drain your battery as quickly. A lot of people choose laptops when they don't really need to. If you don't plan to travel with the computer, or take it from home to work or something similar you would probably be better off with a desktop machine.

I must say anyone who claims to be "addicted" to computers should un-plug themselves and get a life. I use my computers for a number of different things including gaming, tv, music, movies, research and plenty of other things. If I didn't have access to a computer I wouldn't really be any worse off, i can use dvd players to play my music and movies and the like. I work with computers but thats not really an addiction (I HATE WORK). and the kind of people who are truly addicted to computers (or the internet really) are loners that can't interact with real people. and that is just sad. we have lost the "communities" we used to have where everyone knew their next door neighbours and all the people they lived near. Now we avoid everybody and are only close to people on the internet that we don't even know properly and the few people we are good friends with.sorry if this post offends anyone, i'm just calling it how i see it.

hmmm watercooling is ok, but unless you are an uber geek just stay away from it, there are plenty of cooling solutions less risky for the general pc user, my best advice is if you need to ask if you should use non standard cooling systems then you should not.

phpbb is better than proboards. but a camel with some bad coding training is better than proboards so that doesn't exactly say much, compare it to some real stuff and we can give you better advice

perhaps if you don't like being at home with your uncle you could spend more time out with your boyfriend or other friends? when I was younger I didn't get along well with my family and would usually only go home to sleep and shower. By the time i was 19 I was living out of home and working to pay my own bills. As far as living with someone you have feelings for, if you don't take a chance with love you may miss out on your "special someone". I have lived with my girl for about three years now, I used to think like you but wouldn't swap my time with her for anything. We're now engaged to be married and couldn't be happier.I guess I can't tell you what you should do, but giving you a bit of advice on what i've done may help you make your decision. Good Luck.

advertising is false, if something is that good you don't need to advertise it would sell itself by word of mouth. everything is better in an ad, ever noticed how a burger is big and perfectly made in mcdonalds and burger king ads, nobody ever gets a burger like that in the stores. How about ads for movies that make them appear funnier or scarier than they are by cramming all the good jokes or scary bits into the ad. Then there is ads for music, where they play the one or two popular songs to get you to buy the album when 90% of people end up only listening to those popular songs. I could keep going on but we all know advertising is a scam.

i use the internet for so many different things, everyone goes on forums, i'm here to keep my website hosted, I visit some aussie hip-gop forums to keep up with the latest shows ant tracks. I also do e-mail both personally and professionally, download things like music, games (I love classic games), movies and software. I also keep up to date with the news (newspapers are out of date before they are even printed) and some online comics (reallifecomics.com and explosm.net are the best ever). then there is weather, banking, tv guides, education.... i guess it would be easier to just say i use the internet for everything.

babies crying can be very annoying especially when it is in an environment like a movie where it can ruin the experience and also when the parents don't even try to shut the little things up. Aslo it sucks on things like buses or trains where you can't get away from the little annoying things. ARGH. can you just give the kid some beer or valium or something?*

it is surprising how many people in the it industry think they're damn good, and the general public thinks they are too but they really have no idea what theyre doing or how its affecting other people and systems. at my work most of the staff think our it department is great, but they can't even keep our websites running more than 90% of the time and even the internet connection for our office stops working at least once a week. and the amount of times they'll implement a change without properly testing it first and then we end up with bugs and problems everywhere.....anyway leiaah i feel your pain.

windows 2000 is just an earlier version of windows xp really, a large amount of things in it are the same but you would notice some differences, as far as security goes i wouldn't expect you to really get any better protection using it over xp. the main things to do to try and avoid things like malware and things is to ensure you have applied all available updates from microsoft, installed a virus scanner (if you don't want to spend money avg free is not bad, its what i use http://www.avg.com/de-de/free-antivirus-download). you should also be careful what programs you download and install from the internet, if the website doesn't look reputable then don't install the program. To try and avoid some of the things that get installed without you knowing i would recommend ditching internet explorer and using a more secure browser like firefox or opera (google them for more information)

my thoughts are with you dude, i know what you're going through. about a year ago my brother had a blood vessel in his chest burst and his whole chest area was filling up with blood. he was rushed to hospital and spent 10 hours in surgery. nobody thought he was going to live and the stress it put on my family (my mum especially, she was so scared) was so hard to deal with. luckily for us my brother did survive after spending many weeks in the intensive care unit in the hospital, because of the amount of blood he lost there was some nerve damage in his eyes so he can't see properly but he managed to escape any serious brain damage (his memory isn't as good as it once was). back to derek though, all you can do it be there for him and his family and perhaps do prayers for him or something and never give up hope.

yeah hard drives are a strange thing, i've had ones that have made noises for many years and still work now, and others that have died without making a noise within the first few months of getting them, even if you don't think theres a problem with your hard drive its always a good idea to have backups of everything just in case something bad does happen.

i have enjoyed having proper hosting with a cpanel and all the goodies, the only thing that makes me sad is that the people in my work it department blocked the Xisto website so i can't post on the forums from there and sometims i don't get a chance to post at home, then once i'm in negative points i can find it hard to get back on top (I just had my account suspended for about a month because i didn't have enough potnts)

i hate when people give money or gift cards as presents, its like saying "I couldn't be bothered thinking of something good to buy you, or maybe I just don't like you", when you actually go to the effort of buying a present that the person really likes they will remember it for a much longer time and appreciate it more too.

yeah kids wil be kids, you can't really expect them to be clean, at that age i know i hated having showers, all i wanted to do was play. just be happy you don't smell. as for conret having showers that long is a waste of water, some places don't have enough to go around.

well different people develop at different speeds, its not that surprising to hear of a girl that young being able to give birth, and as far as the whole "society causes things like this" thats a load of bleep. things like this would still happen even if the modern world didn't exist, just that there would be no "enloghtened" people around to say that this is wrong. We consider giving birth younger than 16 to be wrong, but back when everyone lived in tribes and stuff that was pretty normal, people didn't live to be that old most of the time so they had to procreate younger than we do to survive.

i remember when we swapped the one and two dollar notes for coins here in australia, that was interesting (i was very young at the time so 1 dollar was a huge amount to me) then we decided to get rid of our one and two cent coins, which wasn't that bad an idea as they aren't worth anything. man i don't think any kids life is perfect, but you need to stick with it even if you think your parents suck and your life sucks. the only reasons i could see for kids to actually leave their parents is if they were drug addicts, or beat the kids badly or sexually abused them. you say the family doesn't talk to him and hits him, well i never got along with my family, and my mum would spank me for discipline and I fought with my brother but thats life. the other guys have made some good suggestions, like seeking some counselling or something, there are always people out there who can help if life isn't working like it should, make sure he knows exactly what he's doing before he leaves his family.

yeah, big companies sucki've worked in quite a few in customer service type roles and know that nobody cares about the consumer or what they want until they want to leave. they do things as slowly as possible to save money, for example in my company we have a department that has a legal requirement to respond to things within 30 days, so they don't even bother looking at them until about 27 days have passed even though most of these things will only take 5 minutes to fix.another place that sucks is collection companies, they collect debts that they have no details on and people just pay them to get them off their backs. they also collect debts they can't collect anymore because they've passed the statute of limitations, and list things onto peoples credit histories when they shouldn't. i hate collection companies.also i've had a similar experience to Mich in regards to charges occuring after leaving a company, i'm still receiving bills from my old mobile (cellular) company whom i haven't had a service with for a few months now. I HATE YOU BIG COMPANIES. DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH
