I like IPB much better then PhpBB, but if you plan to use IPB 1.3 then your better off using PhpBB. There are numerous, well documented security flaws in IPB 1.3 that would make it very easy for even the most novice cracker to compromise your forums. I know its not well known, but I'd check out SMF (Simple Machines Forum) if I were you. Its a great forum software that's 100% free and easy to use. http://www.simplemachines.org/

Assuming that all of the people visiting your website have a drivers license, you might be able to work something out with that. If you ask people for their driver's license number, you might be able to create an automated script that checks their birthday on a website (Google for them).

It would be utter nonsense to eliminate the penny. Like other members of this forum have pointed out, eliminating the penny would require rounding (probably up) whenever a price didn't end in 0 or 5. Also, how would they go about eliminating the penny? Declare all the pennies in the world worthless and lose millions? Stop making pennies and create a fiasco with diffrent companies having diffrent penny policies? The current system is fine. Lets not fix somthing that isn't broken.

Like another poster has pointed out, compromising the security of a website is "cracking", not hacking. Many upstanding and law abiding members of the community are "hackers". A hacker is simply a person who likes to use and customize computers and technology in perfectly legal ways.About your hacking problem: If you have the IP address of the people who cracked your site, contact the FBI. Cracking is a federal offense and, even if your crackers are from a diffrent country, various treaties have been formed pertaining to computer cracking. Also, the U.S. and Turkey are members to various copyright treaties that can be used to prosecute your crackers for making a mirror of your site.Good luck!

This is most certainly a scam, as well as spam. I'd advise that nobody try this.

I belive that these hard drives use some sort of "on-the-fly" encryption to decrypt data as it is requested by the computer when the proper fingerprint in presented. The fingerprint is likely stored in some sort of EPROM chip or the like. Do you, by any chance, have a link to a retail page for these hard drives? Back on topic, I'd only support the fingerprint-credit-card idea if the data about what you bought was kept for only a couple months and specificly off-limits to the government.

Contact the FCC . They're the people that force cell phone manufactures to print that warning.Mythbusters is a great show. I don't get to watch it often, but I feel that they always do a good job proving/disproving myths.Which episode was the cell phone myth on?

If your computer had enough bad sectors, it could have corrupted vital OS files. If I where you, I would back up my vital files, format the drive, scandisk-it and reinstall Windows.

You can do it without using compression using one of the web's many free utilities. I've used Steganos Security Suite before and it supports file hiding/encryption.

This sounds intresting, but I wouldn't trust Microsoft with my site. Call me paranoid, but I feel that the less control placed in the hands of big industry, the better.Does anybody have a link to this offer so that I can fully check it out?

There's the GParted LiveCD, but I wouldn't trust it as much as Partition Magic. I have personally used Partition Magic and highly recommend it (I've never had a problem with it). If you still want a free alternative to Partition Magic then GParted LiveCD can be found at http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php. Note: I'm not responsible for any damage caused to your computer(s)/network via your use of any of the above recommended utilities/programs. Use the above utilities/programs at your own discretion.

I would go for the PC any day. PCs have far more (and better) applications for all of the things that you want to do.Additionally, PCs are easier to change/upgrade and service.

Navigation Problem With My Site Is there any easier way?
uiop replied to BooZker's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm sorry if I didn't understand your question completely, but I'll try to answer it.I belive that you could use something called SSI (Server Side Includes) and/or the PHP include command. You can find information on how to use both of these on Google. -
The same thing could happen anywhere, anyplace, anytime. You just have to be carefull in public places.

I completely agree with you. Movies need to be more age restricted. If I had it my way; for PG movies you would have to be 8, for PG-13 you would have to be 13 and, of course, for R you would have to be 17.

To make a decently secured password go to http://www.javascriptsource.com/. Make sure that the length of your password is at least 6 characters (although it really should be 10) and that all of the "character option" checkboxes are checked. My password wasn't on the list , although I didn't expect it to be.

A 17ms ping time is usually considered pretty good. Most free webhosts have 40ms and greater ping times. Also, keep in mind that all ping times are subject to a large number of variables (see my original post). What ping time did you get for Xisto?

A good idea might be to use a heat sensor with the fingerprint scanner. This way chopped off fingers/fingerprints wouldn't work (generally). It might also be good to place the fingerprint scanner inside of a long shaft so that you would have to reach back to scan your print. This would cut down on fake fingerprints as well as cut off fingers (imagine trying to press a cut of finger onto a scanner pad). This new technology sounds great and multiple times more secure than credit cards!

Google Adsense will not release payment to you until your account balance reaches $100. This is primarly because they release payment only in check form. Checks are expensive, so they don't want to send you a check for ten bucks.

Flashing Your Motherboard's Bios How to flash a BIOS
uiop replied to odomike's topic in General Discussion
Just to comment on the "hardware corruption" issue:Your BIOS starts your computer up. If your BIOS is missing or corrupted then your motherboard never reads (or even knows about) your floppy, optical or hard drives. For this reason it is nearly impossible to fix a corruped BIOS! If the BIOS is the base control of the computer, how are you supposed to flash it?If you (gasp) corrupt your BIOS there's about four options for you:1) If your BIOS is on a removable chip then contact the manufacturer about getting a new one.2) Some manufacturers will fix mobo's BIOSes (for a fee). This may not be offered however for certain manufacturers so don't count on it.3) Get a new motherboard .4) There is a SMALL chance that the broken BIOS will still allow you to flash your BIOS. You can then simply re-flash your BIOS (correctly this time).**Your first course of action if you fail a BIOS flashing should be to contact the manufacturer.** -

If I were you I wouldn't even supply my real phone number. The worst thing that will happen is that they will terminate your account. I'll check out CashCrate sometime when I'm feeling poor .
