to be able to use it you would have to get a monitor anyways so you might as well just get a full sized computer and save some money. it seems like there would be almost no way to upgrade it or anything. if your tight on space then you might as well just get a laptop or something because you would have to buy a monitor anyway and after adding the price of one of those onto the 'starting at' $500, you could get a laptop with similar performance. and you can even use the high tech two button mouse! i mean its only taken them how many years to get all the way to two buttons when mice for other types of computers have like three or five or more. i guess its an okay idea but why not just get a laptop instead.

450 Sheep Commit Suicide funny but true
Ralphie replied to electriic ink's topic in General Discussion
but can you imagine being at the bottom of the cliff and just seeing sheep after sheep running off the side. would be pretty funny for a moment. but it is a sad thing that they all died. -
i agree completely about the text. you could try moving the render more to the right as there is a little bit of room there. background is kind of plain but that can work. try getting a more spidery feel to it by possibly adding some spider web lines in the background. it seems like you faded spiderman a bit around his hands. i suggest leaving everything that is off the background part of the sig in full opacity, unless spiderman has lost his fingertips.

definitely not bad. background looks cool, the blending on the render is nice. the only thing i can think of is to try and make the color of the background match the render more. the green you are using doesnt match as much as it could. other than that it looks very nice.
-
you said that you used the gaussion blur to make the renders stand out more... i think that blurring it makes it stand out less. keep the renders in focus. some of the text is okay but a few of them could use some work. also i think the blending of the renders could use some work, like on the last one. just something about it looks wierd to me. but really those sigs are not bad at all. just keep working on some little things and i think you could get much better very quickly.

i agree with you to a certain degree. there are times when a highly complicated background combined with a render and text where the background keeps much of the focus does look pretty nice often enough. but i do agree that some times the render and text seem to be swallowed up by the background. its all a matter of the type of sig you are creating and everyone can gather different opinions about each one.

read johnny's post again for my response. he pretty much covered it all. try staying a bit farther away from some of those filters and from the gradiant tool. just keep working at it.

Pop Out Sig : <by Mayank> hoping to get better comments
Ralphie replied to mayank's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
once the guy gets off the bottom part of the sig he fades... it looks wierd. the cutout job on the render seems to be pretty good, i dont see any stray white pixels or anything. the text could use some work. i dont really like the red color. i know you were trying to do a thing to have bloody text but on top of the background and render the redness and font just dont blend well with the rest. keep working at it -
My First Popout Sig little abstract brush set teaser
Ralphie replied to truefusion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
pretty much what has been said i agree with. dont really like that white star thingy but the rest of the brushing is nice. when you do finish up your brush set, i think i might download it and give it a try. only thing that im not sure about right now is the drop shadow on everything. not sure i like it.border is good and text seems okay. nice job. -
i think the red might work but you should change the text. i dont really like that font, at least with the kind of sig you have. there really isnt much going on in the sig except for part of a face and its on the smaller side. i suggest using a more simple text, one that is more solid than the one you are using. and change the color of the text. try giving white a try. you could try having a smaller simple white font and i think it would look better.and add a 1 pixel border.

Check Out My First Sig Tell me what u think
Ralphie replied to fable_geddes's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
to me it looks like all you did was take a screenshot and use color balance on it, and then found a text tutorial for flaming text. first, reduce the size (you already know that though). reduce the size of the render to a size that fits nicely in the sig. maybe cut out the render and make your own background to give it more creativity and uniqueness. the text is okay, i just dont think that it matches the render or colors at all. maybe try another font, change the color of the background. just because your first 'sig' didnt turn out great, just keep making more. once you learn a few techniques that look nice, your sigs will improve quickly. -
My First Sig Think you could let me know how I did?
Ralphie replied to midnightvamp's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
they are improving. i like the third one the best. i guess you could possibly try some different fonts but the one you are using doesnt look bad. its actually pretty nice, especially for a first. -
just wondering what the topic is about... you ask in the title if anyone has played but in your post you just say that your computer isnt good enough to run it?well if you cant run bf1942 theres no way you could run bf2 really well. ive got bf2, i keep the settings mostly on low, even though i could move it up a bit. the graphics are good enough that at low settings everything still looks really nice. i just keep the settings low so i get better performance while playing online. i dont really play games all that often but bf2 is the one i do play. i think the gameplay is great and the experience can get a whole lot better if you find a battlefield community or a tournament to join. i recommend it to anyone who likes fps games.

i like how the text and the background blend together. the colors on the background and the style of it looks nice. i just think that if you chose a different render it would look much better. the colors of the one render do not match (mainly the red). just look for another render and see how it turns out.
-
it looks great. i dont have any suggestions. guess you could look into what frozen was talking about but i think it looks good how it is (but maybe it will look better).
-
the first one is okay. i dont really like the color contrast of the background compared to the render. you could try making the background a yellow color to match the guys shirt. but definately work on the text and try blending the render into the background. there are many tutorials on blending so it shouldnt be hard to find one. good luck and keep practicing.

i dont use premades but they all look pretty good. surely someone will use them. nice job.

My First Sig Heres me giving this a try
Ralphie replied to AMWGeek's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
well its okay for a first sig but i dislike the colors. just keep trying different things and you will quickly improve. -
i agree with all of this. nothing to add.
-
nice job. they all look pretty good. only thing i dont really like is how in two of them you have the text all in single letters scattered around. it might be cool but its just harder to read it all. other than that they look real nice.
-
overall it looks very nice. i dont really like the dots on the left side. they dont really go with the background. thats all i can think of at the moment. it looks pretty good.
-
out of those i think the second is the best. thats probably because the colors are all more similar. mainly, i think you should try out some different background tutorials and then once you get some good ones, you should try blending in your renders.

A Worm Sig : By Mayank please rate and comment
Ralphie replied to mayank's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
this is better than your first one you did. i think the main thing you need to do with this one is experiment with different text effects. if you like the font then just go and try a bunch of different styles and see what you like. -
to answer this question you really need to know what you are going to be using it for. if you are going to need it all over the place (home, school, work, etc) then you should get a laptop. if you are just going to have it at home and not need to take it anywhere, then get a desktop. ive got a desktop now that i am happy with at home, but next year when i go away to school ill be getting a laptop.

personally i would not buy a refurbished laptop. i will be getting a laptop in a year but will buy a new one. i think it would just be safer to get a brand new laptop and not have to worry about old problems coming to life again. and for that much money, you will not be getting a "high end" laptop. yes it might say 512mb of ram and whatever but higher end laptops run $2000+. you would most likely get a lower end graphics card and slower hardware. for regular computers, ram coms in speeds besides 256 or 512, it also comes in pc2700, pc3200, etc. i dont know how laptops go but it would probably be pretty similar. try and see if you can get a little more money for a laptop and get a better one. also, try and find one with a good battery life. especially if you use photoshop or play games, if you have a laptop with bad battery life, you wont be able to spend a long time away from a plug. and one last thing i recommend is to look at user reviews online. some laptops may look good in a magazine or in a picture with some specs, but reviews will really help you understand what you are getting into.
