Nice Models And Free Models, New Site! Game Development
levimage replied to 3d4ya's topic in Computer Gaming
i think they can pass for adequate models. I'm sure $20.00 ea. for an already created model is fine but for something that has to be created on demand. That's like a steal. Then again I'm from the states and It is cheaper to outsource to other countries. Kind of like the tech support issues. On the renderings. I believe they can be from different angles, perspectives, and higher quality surfacing (round edges). If you add in other post editing effects such as. Lense flares to simulate sun or light reflection, gloss or texture reflecting light, depth of field, some Gaussian blurs, s curves, and a little masking of noise, you could pretty much fool anybody. Heck that should be the way I should be doing my renderings in post. Hmmm... I guess I didn't know much when i was 19 y/o.It would be nice to some some simple animation. Good job. -
How To Uninstall Completely Office 2003
levimage replied to TavoxPeru's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I've experimented with installing Office 2003 from Trials and Mailer demo cd's. It only gave you something like 30/60/90 days plus some buggy thing about connecting online. Then when you uninstall it. And try to reinstall it, it says the trial has run out. When I was taking community college classes 90 days was okay to get some of my classmates through the semester... although it was funny cause everyone was calling me around finals. LOL :mellow:There are the files and some registry keys that have to be removed, your computer restarted, and run a 3rd party registry cleaner (like ccleaner). Then you can reinstall and still get your trial period. I didn't want them to use an illegal key or warez, since they didn't want to order for the software. So I guess this is a poor man's work around.I'll see if i can find my notes on how I cleaned it up. I believe I wrote a batch help with this. -
Your laptop bag/backpack may be to cramped with stuff. If not, the rubber grommits (rubber pieces that typically cover the screws on a laptop screen and keyboard for clearance may be giving away. Replace them if you can or add something to add to their height. My laptop has scratches on the screen from keyboard & marks on the palmrest from the screen bezel (screen cover). I wish I had some rubber cement.

Does Anyone Every Play Pen & Paper Rpg Anymore ? Pen Paper RPGs
levimage replied to yungblood's topic in Computer Gaming
I guess if you're not that creative... as you get older... you find you can't compete with all the current game genre, story, expansion pack, modules out there. Besides you'd have to have some imagination... like a kid or be on some kind of high to compete with video/pc rpg(s). -
Cruzer Flash Drive (usb) Whats with the software
levimage replied to ginginca's topic in Hardware Workshop
Lexar is also known for their stupid software when they go into the flash drive game. I've had several go out on me. I could not even format it with windows or their software. And i could never get a replacement. I'm sure it could have been mounted in Linux and reprogrammed but I'm not the guy for the job. I just took 'em apart and made key changes out of them. :mellow:I think it was like 64MB or 128MB. -
Actually what also works in situations like this kind of cleaning is a 'razor blade' or if you can get your self on an exacto knife. That will work as well. Then you don't have to worry about static from the swabs or other cleaning wipes. Unless your in a lab or know somebody who has access to expensive static free swabs and chemicals. I was just working on a Dell laptop and this applies to some of their Dimension PC models. If you flash the BIOS from like an early version A02 or 03 to something current like A12/15, you might also read what changes were applied in all the subsequence bios updates and read something about now supports compatiblility for new intel, celeron, pentium m, or a faster FSB (front side bus). This can be done before you install your new processor. There are more measurements when it comes to processors, but if you don't want to go in detail you should also mention the CACHE. Which is a temporary memory in your processor. It is faster than your ram and your FSB. This cache also keeps track of the process cycles your computer uses the most frequently like when using certain types of software - imaging, music, games -- therefore making you pc more responsive. Compare the caches when it comes to selecting from a specific group of processors. Also the amount of cache per a core is also significant when in comes to mult-core processors.

If you really think about it depends on your environment, how you screens look. Sure all stores have expensive halogens or some other type of play with lights around showcase electronics. It's all about setting the mood and presentation of the goods. Yeah, just think about it, your screen may look different at home or in your office. Off the topic 'Then again you can always change the lights in your room or office.'

If you can try using you older processor.. Go into the BIOS. When you are in the BIOS if you can manually override the Voltage try increasing the it by +0.1 V for the CPU and memory. You might want to do it quick and use a clean application of thermal grease between settings. It worked for me one time when I didn't have the Internet to look up the processor voltage.

You can use it to remove ActiveX controls and browser plug-ins. It is a very good troubleshooting tool. I use Firefox, IE, and opera. SpyBot S&D 1.6 offers protection for them. I'm not sure about the other browsers but it is an all-around free online protection. Though not a full solution it works well with AVG Free 8.0, Spyblaster, and other firewalls.

I think it depends on the time of day. I'm usually on the PC at night so there is no glare issues there. GLOSSY is cool. I believe some companies can add a film to any screen (for $50.00 USD) to make a screen clear/glossy.

All nowday Online Protection solutions typically require 256MB of ram on top of the operating system and running software. Norton on the other hand has been making software like this for years. It would seem they now require about 512MB and up to a 1G for a full system protection. I'm not really a Norton fan. I just thought I'd make this point.

A Site I Put Together Over The Last 3 Days
levimage replied to LegallyHigh's topic in General Discussion
is this your web site or a template of web site's capability. Anyway I think you should have some kind of Terms or Legal page. And have something about how your hosting and declaring what country your hosting from. You should also have something about what/whomever hosting technologies you use/host from, that you're a holding them harmless of liability, and not resposible for people clicking on links to copyrighted content not affiliated with your sites.Just something to think about. -
Microsoft Enlists Jerry Seinfeld News
levimage replied to shotgun's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think Jerry Seinfield is cool. I could just picture him doing his stand up - like hey can't get the point, but why, or pointing out the problems with other competitors like apple.Maybe he can do a spin-off like the Apple Nazi (Soup-Nazi), Apple hands (Man-hands), or something. Jerry is good at nagging. In his shows he is never compatible with his love interests - theirs always a flaw.Yeah, M$ should invest more in their operating system development. Like create the next browser system not an operating system. Make the next generations Zunes like a WiFi/pda/phone. -
This seems cool. Maybe you could make some more scripts so when it comes to backing up the os or creating images, the images will be a lot smaller. Save space and make management easier. I always try to get rid of the pagefile.sys and the hibernation file. They take up a more space now days since computer/laptops use more memory.Good job.

I'm downloading Opera right now. Is there a way you can add links to thumbnail images? Another cool thing would be like a refresh for the page, maybe like the time at Olympics and your browser current time, and the time the stats have been last updated. Also a count down timer to upcoming events. Then may be a CSS theme. A ticker would be cool and or a marquee for you team/country. Just ideas here.

Okay it looks like you got the basic Idea. So if you want something more realistic then you are going to have to start doing some rendering of objects, sky, land, etc. You might start by creating file (Gimp images) of objects then add them in as layers. You could also took to other programs like Bryce 3d. As far as GIMP painting you might create brushes, patterns, gradients - from crops real photos or stock image online. Tools such as Scale, Skew, Perspective, clone, heal, and your basic cut-in-paste will help here to make things more interesting. There should be some installed scripts to render clouds (e.g. Plasma Cloud), noise, and other similar textures which can further be manipulated into art. This will take some experimenting to. You can even google gimp resources online. Look them up, check for screen shots, download and install them. Some will require a specific version of GIMP, and python program. The rest is just testing and creativity on your part. Look at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for some of my pictures. All have pretty much went thru GIMP in some way or another. The splash screen was from another program but also with treatment in GIMP. Enjoy!

Well that depends if how high you've set your Gaussian Blur. When i comes to the make sure you know if you brush is solid or soft. Another thing you can do is adjust the opacity (by percentage) of you brush when you're on your mask layer. Finally you can adjust your opacity again by the slider on the layer you're working on. If you're still experimenting you can right click your layer mask on your layers menu and show the mask, disable the mask, etc. This will show you how your applying your mask if you don't notice the differences upfront. You can also duplicate some layers and try a simulate grain on one of them to give it some added texture if that is your thang. Later McLuvin'

Status Bar Effect Have your own text running in the status bar
levimage replied to Rohan Ramanath's topic in Programming
I know. Someone can just go to C:\Documents and Settings\ceba\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\!@#$%^. I did this one time cause I wanted a picture and it worked. You can also pull up email, online database info, etc. Usually the browser has to be offline. I was curious some sites don't show this information when your offline. I was wondering how they do this. I believe it is a page showing another outside page which may or may not have frames or something. I think i query's your browser or does something having to do with the session or cookie. Do you know what I mean. -
Okay, I'm just going to give a mental image of how to create a vista without having Gimp open. Bare with me.1) Create a bunch of layers. Name them something like the colors your using or objects in you 'vista.2) Pick a tools from the tool box (pencil, pen, airbrush or brush).3) On each layer draw a series of fairly horizontal lines from end to end on the page. Adjust the brush sizes (not really the shape). These will be your foreground layer(s).4) Then create two new layers. These will be named 'sky' and 'ground' respectively. On these layers do a gradient from where your horizontal line starts to the top edge for the sky and on the other layer do a gradient from your Horizontal line to the bottom edge. Make sure you choose a gradient the reflects the kind of sky and ground you want. The ground layer should be the bottom stack of your layers with the sky above it. The other layers should be on top.5) make copies of some of the layers and go a Gaussian blur of various depths - to simulate the depth of field. Try to think of a vantage point of where your object start.6) in some of the layers you can erase some of the edges to give a a more jagged look here and there.7) create a sun, moon, planet(s) or what have you in the sky. This will be your light source.8) if you know how to do layer masks you can create copies of some of your foreground layers and do a white mask on them. Click the box that preserves the transparency and fill the layer with a color that is between the original color and that of your light source. Select the layer mask in the layers menu. Now select a tool like the brush and a brush size that will work for your depth of the layer. Make sure you select BLACK as your color and trace the edges (top of landscapes, trees, reflection of lakes, edges of clouds, etc.) on this layer. You can also go a Gaussian blur on the mask too. Do this will all the layers with objects you would like to do have light applied).Well that's it. Let us know how it turns out.

Funny... In the winter nights, just running my computer and monitor plus speakers and whatever else is connected generates enough heat for a semi-cozy climate compared to the rest of the house -- cold floors and air. It kind of sucks during the summer. I need an AC in the window. But back to the topic (physics), the heat has to go somewhere - like occupy cold space or rise.

Yeah it seems pretty high (vertical real estate). Nice though. I like how the person conveys action. I wouldn't hurt to crop off the top of the head (15-20 pixels). Then do like a invert bulge (I don't know the tool/effect) this would simulate a fish eye lens refraction. You can then get more of a tight composition of the action/person. Then enlarge the Lettering in the lower left. You could also add some depth to the text or your logo. Maybe a Gaussin Blur as a shadow. The if you know how to do this, create a sweet spot, like a short depth of field view somewhere in the background. Then while your at it you can go for an SI (Sports Illustrated) look by adding more contrast to the image and a slight tint. This is just a suggestion, I hope I'm not to critical. Looks cool though. :mellow:Oh yeah what program did you use, and about how much time did you take, and what's part took the longest to do? I'm curious.

Access Denied As Admin On Xp, Services Troubles
levimage replied to toby's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Okay Okay, so you are saying, that in the registry there is a String Value called Userinit at... HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon ? and... just as long as it has this value below it is okay. C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe, I guess that seems right. And to think I just use to do a reinstall. Hmmmm... I'll look into it next time I'm stumbled. Thanks McLuvin' -
Do you mean like how some online messenger/chat(s) detect if more than one user logs in or is logged in from an IP address or if someone from a specific ip is creating multiple user accounts within a certain time period. Maybe you should just have like a cool off period verses denying or banning someone. Cause their may be multiple people using your services from the same place like a pubic wifi, school, or building.Just something to think about.

That would be cool if they licensed this technology to computer chip manufactures and embed this cooling apparatus in new CPU(s), video cards, hard drives, and everything else that generates heat and some how have it ground via a special cable in your house to earth ground. That would kool. No wait, you could even have a cool house during the summer. Wow!
