  1. I do a lot of creating like the imagery and such on my XP desktop. I like to have total control from my mouse. I have Photoshop and Dreamweaver on my desktop and Photoshop on my Vista laptop. I do text creations and play around with scripting in VB and Java, but lately I have been just finding easy coding online. So I do a lot of text oriented stuff on the laptop because it is crunching buttons.Lately I haven't done too much with servers. I just try to do my pages and then upload onto Xisto. I would like to setup a little in house network server on Windows Standard... probably because it is just a basic setup. But for now it is setup and transfer to and from desktop to laptop. The laptop has better specs than the desktop, so that is why I am able to do the really good scouting online for scripts, and I use Word to just do my postings and entries, and all of the text oriented for my forums and webpage.
  2. Not too bad actually, but I would think it was more of an iced look than bloody, but it is not bad. I would think bloody would be 'liquidish' and really runny. But that is just an added opinion. It never hurts to keep trying things out, but I like the imaginative flair.
  3. Layouts are difficult if you make them difficult. If you have an idea on how everything in the layout plan, then it makes creating easier. The layouts can go by CSS or if you can keep to a scheme. When layouts get rushed, sometimes fonts won't match, or the color schemes don't seem to mesh well.Anything is possible, and layouts can be created on any levels. It is not a good idea to try to get into complicating scripting unless you have some experience in that field. But it is always good to know that there is coding and there are a lot of recreated layouts for beginners. It never hurts to shake things up, or try different things... the good thing about web layouts is that if you don't like it, you can fix it or just start something completely new...
  4. There may be many different variations of using my 'SKEMB' name... I used it for my webpage, and it seems to be top of the listings for skemb... it also helps that it is not really popular like many other names, but I like that fact so it is a little more rare to find... Sounds odd, but if it is to be found, then it helps being the top of the list, seeing that not everyone knows the exact address for my site, but can find it by the title name. And from there it is asking if I meant to type in skemp, and it only has so many different types of addies, too. So if someone knows about my webpage by name, it is the top search, and it even has different entries for different parts of my site.So I don't know if having a unique title may help, but it seemed to do the trick for me.... At least for now, I guess!- skedad -
  5. The alternative that I am using to Nero is Roxio Easy Creator. I really get into Roxio... I know now that there is a HUGE Roxio Suite, but out of all of that, I basically use the Class Creator. It is easy to use, and I just grew to like it. I remember older versions with color coded song selections... It wasn't a big deal, but it is a nice and colorful way to keep track of your songs... I think it would do the same for data.I know now that it was pretty basic, but I have seen many new options and updates for Easy Creator. Nero works basically the same, but there were a few differences, but either one I would recommend. I have tried others, but some are beginning trial runs, but there are not too many that guarantee all of the options that Nero and Roxio have.
  6. The last Command and Conquer I played was a Zero Hour upgrade. I had a few copies that a few friends and I had put on our LAN computers in class. It was pretty cool because we were all able to play Multi player head to head... Man, I really wish I could be playin that again. Right now I don't do much PC gaming, but I do try to keep up with PS2 games. Maybe if I get a better PC, I will have to install a few good old games, and one will just have to be Command and Conquer. So keep on gaming, gang... Have fun with the new games.- skedad -
  7. I use Photoshop and I think out of a lot of programs I have enjoyed it the best. I believe it may not be for everybody, and it is pretty pricey, too. But since I have used it the first time, it is for me. I like that is has options to the moon... I haven't tried GIMP to try to compare, but I guess it's good to stick with what you know.
  8. I just may be totally Google bias, because that seems to be all that I use... It is in the corner of the Firefox browser, so it is just asking to be used, and so I do.I just got used to how to maneuver the tags, and can tell when Large, Med or Small pics are a necessity. Whether it be image or web, now it seems that if it is a popular response that it will pull up like music artist sites, or albums... and such... Pretty convenient.
  9. I have been loyal to Firefox for a few years now... As for the antivirus and firewalls, I may have to check those out.... I am always up for research, and especially for such added protection on the PCs.I still use Norton because it is still under subscription... so I will be having Norton Security for a while, but if I were to reformat some older PCs, I will keep these service programs in mind... thanks for the listings...
  10. Yep, have to pay a lot even for a basic black cart... probably like on average 35 to 40 dollars. But I try to use it to my advantage... Quick print with black only for text documents. Well, I guess that is all I can do right now seeing that the color heads on my Lexmark are almost shot... But that is ok, because if I were to purchase another printer for color printouts, I will try to make it NOT a 3in1, so that I can keep up with 4 color printing, and leave my older Lexmark to the black and white printing. It has been forever since the bubblejet printing... Feeds along the holes on each side of the print... oh yes, the good ol days... Half an hour printjob...
  11. Yet another thing Microsoft is trying to eat up... I mean it is hard to find things that are free or cheap... sounds a bit weird, but I am not made of money. I try my best to try to keep up with my forums and it is not all that easy. I find Xisto incredible, not just because it is free, but it is a chance for me to be able to use my craft for my family and friends. A lot of users in the world depend on freeware, and when huge companies take them over, then usually it becomes subscription usage. If I wanted to put my money into what I do, I am able to do so... I am not dirt poor, but yet I understand the meaning of the dollar, and I also use my resources well. I am proud of the admins around here, because I am sure it is not all that easy to try to keep up with all of the free users here on the site, but I am happy and I try not to take advantage. So Microsoft is planning on buying everything up on the net... I am just hoping that the company uses it wisely, because it is a HUGE investment, because Yahoo is everywhere on the web.I guess we should just wait and see, and I guess I may have to put more time into Gmail, just in case.- skedad -
  12. A few of my friends use bittorrents, but I don't really do too much. For a while I used a lot of Kazaa and LimeWire for files, but even that is a rarity. I had a classmate get suspended for overkilling the bandwidth of our campus downloading cartoon shows over BitTorrent... quite funny. But I do like that there are a lot for use, but since it is becoming a 'shady' practice, I try to use it when necessary.
  13. I don't know if it is the best site, but I like how much can be done at a time. My sister sent me to Kodakgallery.com, and I started using it for myself. I haven't used it in a while, but I was able to upload up to like 70 or some at a time. It was a little tougher to send out links, because you have to uncheck the email send feature, so that people don't have to have people sign in or sign up to see your albums.I wanted to keep a lot of my professional photos in order, and in a more professional feel, so I began to also use flckr. I would scan some of my work and post it up for now, until I put more usage into a professional website.I guess either site works well for me. It would depend on what kind of photo I would want to upload to the web.- skedad -
  14. Magic is what keeps me into fantasy video games. I think magic can be used as a term for something fantastic, or something to use as a surprise... Something to entertain people, but only in reference. I have grown up seeing all of the tricks, and that is what they are... tricks. I do believe in trickery as used as gags and for jokes. Illusionists, these are the present day magicians. I have seen David Copperfield and David Blane perform feets of great mystery. I think magic is pulling off something that is extremely hard to do, but is still possible. So magic is fiction, and I like that magic is around to keep me into fantasy, and that is where is should stay.Harry Potter, Final Fantasy and so on... they were good at making magic.

    Real Player

Since I have a lot of space on my computer than I used to, when something asks for RealPlayer, I download and install it. I don't really like to get into multiple players, but I can't help how people setup programs and files, so I just hope to keep up with what player needs used. And I seem to be needing to download and install within Firefox, so it is always a new install... I just try to keep to Windows Media Player... I only really use it for my downloads and a few uploads from my digital camera. I guess I just am not so excited about players, but I am glad to have them when I need them.- skedad -

    Nero Burning Rom

I used Nero a few times. Before Nero, I was always using Roxio Easy CD. I know that the newest Roxio I am using is the Suite and it takes up half of a computer, but I still found it a bit more reliable for me. I think one of the times I was using Nero, I had to burn images, and whatnot... I just found that Roxio was a little more user friendly. On the other hand, I noticed that some Nero programs had a few more options. I am getting a bit prudish now that I have updated stereo systems that allow information on music data. I can have my song and album and whatnot on the screen with my Roxio.... don't think the Nero provided that. That is probably where I am way too perfectionist. But I would have to say that Nero could be my #2... and that is still good for me, because there are a lot of annoying programs that are not Nero and Roxio.
  17. In this day and age, I think a lot more stuff are becoming more and more possible... It has me pondering that is it a safe idea!? I think that as time goes along, people are become WORSE drivers than ever.... not only would we have accidents on the ground, but I could see cars from Back to the Future colliding with planes! Sorry, maybe that was just a really big buzz-kill... But I think the idea behind things are very fascinating... I just think it needs to see how things will affect real life.
  18. I watch a decent amount of Mythbusters. If I was not involved in everything else, I would think it is a top rate show. You can't help but get pulled into what they are involved in... and it doesn't matter how big or small of myth, or their experiments. I liked it when it was only the two at the beginning. But I am getting more and more used to new people involved.... it just adds for more and more interesting ideas... You know how they say that two heads are better than one, well in this case it's like five.I have to admit, that fact that their 'look' kinda had me entertained, also... and that is important, too when there are SOOO many shows that are about the same these days. I think they are humorous and very trendy and that also keeps me involved... can't watch it if it's not catchy!
  19. I guess I am just that lucky. I was looking for a change when I was looking for a new web host. I was SOOOOO tired of using my geocities, that anything would be better, I was at least hoping. So I was researching a lot online and then I was able to come across Xisto and a few others. And I am very glad I came upon this one first. I was pretty shady about using forums, but I liked how maintained everything was. That is quite the listing. I would think it would be longer, but I bet that is what you have dealt with. I think there are so many that are trying to compete, but don't have the passion for what they are trying to offer. I think the owners and creators of Xisto had an idea and handled with very well. And that was quite an impressive ideal... Webhosting with forum sharing, and I am sure it's not as easy as it sounds to maintain. Good job to all involved!- skedad -(Oh, and if I can think of any more sites, I will post them!)
  20. I began working with Linux in college. I had a few removable drives I was working on, and I installed SUSE on it. I was enjoying it. I don't think it was as easy using Windows, but I just didn't have as much time to learned what I wanted. I enjoyed many features like multiple desktops, but I wasn't as involved Programmer as I would have liked, because the kernel was a bit tricky. I like how Vista looks and feels, some seem a little Linux, but I could be wrong. I like how the icons and such were more detailed, and now is the same for Vista.I dual booted my drive with Linux and XP, and it booted through Linux... I guess it was ok, but I should have disabled the time limit, because if I was not paying attention, then boom there was Linux... I would like to give it a try again sometime, but maybe try the newest versions. Maybe when I get my new PC, I will have to partition a section for trial.- skedad -
  21. I think that would be a good idea, but I have pondered something. Lately, I have been keeping credits around 20... There are times that I can only really post one or two with my busy schedule. So there are days that it will be above, and the next day like a little over 19... I guess if there is a credit reminder for under a certain number, I wonder if it will continue to send over and over. Let's say our reminder is 10. I am just thinking that if there are others, like me, that do enough on average to keep to their goals, will be over and under their goal every day or every other day.I am thinking, that as long as you wouldn't mind having email hits every other day or so, then it would be a success... But I guess I am not thinking what it would be like to be in and out of suspension territory. I would definitely would want to know of it...I am keeping active as much as I would check my email, because it is all like a process... I check email and check the forum credits around the same time. So I would think if it was really important to keep up with the credits, to make it part of a process... That is just my opinion...- skedad -
  22. I like that you can flow throughout the image... I really like the use of the clean vector designs on the gradient background. I think for having basic white line design, it seems like there is a lot of filtering effects going on with the person. It just seems like two different ideas tossed onto a design. It may be the use of blur on the person that may begin to make it stand out that way. I am one for filters and effects, but a few too many may start to lose the look of an element.Don't let the extensive detail that I gave seem like a negative critique... I think it is a good image, I just noticed that the person may be over filtered for the rest of the area...The font definitely fits... that is a nice fit.
  23. I believe that there won't be a right answer. This would be strictly opinionated, because of how many fonts are in the world, and that if you are not trying to compare a certain font, then there really is no really answer. Everyone has favorites, and the only way it could be remotely close, is if is a default font that is loaded already with the PC. I have seen it posted already, but I think with the default fonts, Comic Sans seemed to be very popular. There are users who don't use graphic programs, so they like to use Comic Sans.I have many disks full of fonts, so I don't really have a favorite... Now I use a font viewer to find the right match for my images. I just try to relate that font if I really like it. As for every day usage, I think that a clean serif font should be used for text oriented needs. You want users to be able to read your text without problems, or they will pass it by for something easier. So I say for cool looking titles or banners or any other image oriented needs to play around, and for important text, keep it simple.- skedad -
  24. My internet provider at this time is embarq. I have just now had an error page correction saying that embarq does not recognize the page... Ok, so I just figured that it was a new concept that embarq was going with... so I disabled, but now I have issues with my index page coming up... Hmmm.... oddly enough I plan to do some majr troubleshooting in the next few moments...
  25. Learning is basically how much you want to know about HTML. Learning and applying the knowledge is the key. If you know a lot about HTML like many years and you don't do anything with it, then it really wouldn't matter. Once you learn the basics, it is basically up to you what you want to do with it. It's like learning basic code and comparing it to how it fits in scripting. Once you learn how bold is used, you would be able to set to anything. Well, that was a really, shabby example, but still one no less. Everything has img src. It is a basic HTML command, but what you plan to do with it will be how much you know. Making a page with a picture linked is a nice basic concept. Creating CSS styles and starting to add scripting is a bit more advanced... but it is all coding and SOMETIMES you can find a few pieces of info over the net to get ideas together.... but I also think that getting a book and familiarizing yourself with coding should help. The net is a nice useful tool, but that's about all it is... a huge vast reference.Good luck and have fun learning it, so it will be that much enjoyable watching your creations come to life.- skedad -
