    Dual Boot How To

I heard that you cannot reformat a Vista hard drive without it seeing duplicate serial. I do have this laptop running Vista, but I have not reformatted this like I have my XP PC. I heard that Microsoft will already recognize the used serial code, and it would not let the reformat be legal...Anyways, working with dual booting, the recovery and startup disk should suffice when partitioning... whether using reformat or Admin Tools.
  2. I just about got T-boned by an orangutan the other day on the freeway... Man, they just aren't evolving as quickly as the humans are... I do like it when monkeys get all silly and flip up their upper lips... I guess I may have seen a few humans that act like monkeys, but usually they are in some kind of altered state...For being fish, there are a lot of us un-evolved humans that just can't swim in the water as well as the ancestor goldfish... I would wonder if there could be a morphed monkey fish colony somewhere...I am not making fun, I am just having fun... I am one of the many gigantic book readers that believes that we were created in his image...I am a spiritual Christian, so it means I am a bit open minded... I enjoy do still enjoy studying sciences, but to a point... I have learned what I have learned, and the Discovery channel is interesting.I have come from my parents and in which they have come from their parents and so on and so forth... I would hope that my long lost ancestors were not the same as Curious George's.That does seem a bit much, but... if it is to go back through evolution, then that would basically be it... I slump over some, but I have a spinal issue, not because it is a gene trait.Maybe next time I am on this topic, I will have some research, but for the moment, I just had to have a little fun...
  3. If you only live to end up dying, why worry about the grey area of life then? Just wake up eat sleep and do it over and over and over again... And don't forget to go online... That would make life meaningless. Live life how you choose, but bashing others beliefs will just be an empty post full of letters and words. Let this comment be negative, if you want it to, because it actually isn't being negative at all...
  4. Well I see there are a few school related sites that were mentioned. I was going to post the link to my daughter's elementary school page... I am not trying to bash it, but it is pretty cramped and crowded. It started out fun and on the left side had large button images and the mascot at the top... It was fun for the elementary school style... Now I think the webmaster made it too professional for its' own good... But now, it is a broken link... Maybe he/she is thinking of redoing it again...I have noticed that spamming sites that I have gone to seem to over image their sites that if you had dialup it would totally take all day to load... I think it is bad enough having spamming messages everywhere... but I was bored and followed one for vitamins, and goodness their site was rainbow text from blue to yellow to green and red... and HUGE images of happy smileys! Yikes!Ok, so if my daughter's school site comes back up, I will try to link it.... if I remember!I guess when it comes to bad sites, I guess nobody is perfect! haha
  5. It would be nice to just say YES or maybe to put many people's minds at rest by saying NO... It is and always will be a religion vs science debate that will go on for eternity, or maybe til the end of the world... That too, is up for debate. We know what we know from how we were taught to believe. Many that will follow the technology of sciences and theories of evolution and totally facts will think that what you see is what you get... and that is that...I was brought up to learn and grow and know that there is a heaven and a hell. As I grew older I understood why it was and that there are many things that will go on in life that cannot be explained easily and openly. Because of this, there can only be speculations... and when you cannot pinpoint perfectly, there will be disagreements and opinions.I have voted YES... I am a Christian, but I am not an 'over the top' religious nut that crucifies or even goes around judging people... I found spirituality that cannot be expressed by typing what and how I feel on a forum... This is the part that others can scratch their heads on.I have lived and seen many events that could not be explained other than being miraculous. And I have done things and have regretted them because I have a conscience. Funny that it has science in its' name... Ok, so if there were just places on this forum that let you right pages and pages of thought on a topic, this would be a good one for me... but I can get a little carried away at the same time... I am glad each of you can keep an open mind, and don't be afraid to feel how you feel...
  6. I don't see the VS side to Xisto and Xisto. I was waiting on the servers to get back up on Xisto, and I began an account with Xisto... I think it was to just see what it is about too, and if I need another site, I will have both Xisto and Xisto... but for now, I am very happy keeping only Xisto, and visting Xisto forums...- skedad (AKA Xisto's rwhj07) -
  7. I guess it has been a while since my last posting on this topic. I am looking into getting a new monitor for the PC and I plan to keep up with using it more... well, at least project wise... I like to use the laptop to move here and there around the house, but really I want to be able to have everything I need by me on my own desk and not a dresser or end table that is just holding my laptop.Yordan is right when saying that if the monitor is bad then it could affect the whole laptop. I would think any piece of hardware on a laptop that needs repaired affects the whole machine. Where as desktops just need a device here and there. And laptop repair can be tricky.I had many people hand me their laptop after spilling stuff on it... not the smartest, but on a desktop you ruin your keyboard, not the whole machine... The laptop is ruined... You would go get a new keyboard for your desktop....I cannot badmouth the laptop, because well, I am using one right now... But on the desktop, I feel a little more free and independent rather have everything bundled into one machine... I will still be using the laptop, but for basic operation, and will go back comfortably to my designwork on the desktop.... oh, how I just want that new monitor!
  8. United States is having problems taking care of itself let alone trying to support other nations... I would like to be excited about a new planet colony, but that would be nice to watch on SciFi...I agree above seeing that in 100 or so years, that life would be different, and that space travel may be like on the movies and TV. But I think Earth needs to be taken care of first...Not to totally buzzkill the postings, but it just doesn't seem to make a bit of sense... Some day maybe... Maybe some really rich person could start sponsoring it...- skedad -
  9. I know it has been a while since I have checked the introductory topics, but one of the reasons I was still interested in hosting with Xisto was because if I were to 'slip up' and not be able to post a lot of comments in the forums, then I would be able to pay here and there to make up for not commenting... I am still hoping that it is a last resort to not being able to upkeep comments.I guess I have not thought of that subject in a while because I have been able to get some credits in here and there... So thank you for bringing this all up again... and I will have to look into this topic again.- skedad -
  10. It didn't take me all that long to learn Dreamweaver. It took a little while to learn the other programs I have used before replacing them with Dreamweaver. I had first used a program that went along with it's website host, Trellix Web. I had purchased my PC, and Trellix was installed on it already... this got me into beginning website development. It was really basic, but it did what it needed. Then I upgraded to XP, and I then used Frontpage.I really liked what Frontpage had to offer compared to many other programs. It was more professional, and it was a lot more user friendly than others. I was getting tired of using Frontpage, after I installed and used Mozilla Firefox.... after being a new and excited user of Firefox, I replaced Frontpage, when I was not able to have it compliment my new browser. So from that point on, I started using Dreamweaver, that and I was able to get a copy that was legal and so I went on from there... It was when I went back to college, I took an HTML class that taught Dreamweaver, and I was able to fine tune my experiences, and learned a lot more than I could have imagined...
  11. I am 31 years old.... I have grown up with the Rubik's cube. Nowadays, it is like some kind of nostalgic phenomenon, but when I was growing up, it was something to play with. Not only did we have the basic cube, it came in different forms... like cubes, pyramids and spheres. So I don't remember how long it took me to finish each phase, but my sister excelled at it much better and faster than I did... Now that I think about it, I might have to go look for my old cubes... Have fun, and don't give up, because it is very possible to beat!- skedad -
  12. I think if you were to create webpages outside of a provider such as Frontpage or even Dreamweaver, you might want to learn HTML... myspace makes it so you have to surf around the net to find the right coding you need, if you don't know how to create anything. With webpages, if you can begin making a basic site, you can also learn as you go. You can setup your page layouts, play around with backgrounds, default font styles, add a few images... and you have yourself a nice little website. If you have some kind of experience or like to play around with programs, then you can have a nice site without the dramatic looks, but nowadays, everyone is trying to outdo each other and also themselves, and it sets the bar high for how sites should look and how they are used... but that doesn't mean that basic sites can't coexist...So I really might have blabbed on, but I am trying to put a spin to the posting... HTML is important, bt with finding everything that is really important to a site, and HTML is a good thing to pick up along the way when developing sites.
  13. Fighting series... I started it all with Street Fighter, and so I really loved playing Super Street Fighter 2 Champions Edition. I liked all of the fighters including the bosses. Then the arcades brought out Mortal Kombat, and I have played every one except for like whatever was after Deception... I have bought the latest and have over played it... Armageddon. So I started playing them on SNES, and my brother and I have played Trilogy like no other on the original Playstation.I have seen Smackdown vs Raw brought up and I really like those series, too... Even though it is more sport than fighting. And the previous post showed the TMNT banner... and I even played that fighting game on SNES... it was ok. But I liked the Turtles a lot back then and so it worked out just fine.I have only a limited amount of play on Tekken, and I do like it, but I haven't played it enough to be all crazy about it... but if I were to play it more, I would like it a lot.- skedad -
  14. I remember back in the day, ok like the 80's and early 90's. When CDs were first being manufactured, not everyone had a CD player... they had these little cartridges called cassette tapes.... and you didn't connect it to the PC... hmmmm, so had did you get a chance to listen to the new music!? You waited until it came on the radio, and you recorded it through your light pink boom box... It also did not have definition sound... and it also wasn't paid for... So like, if someone found out you were listening to Color Me Bad for free, did they take away your boombox!? How do you take away sound waves from a radio station....Yes, downloading music not from iPod and Apple is illegal, but isn't it the same that if you didn't buy the cassette tapes and recorded it from the radio, and made a copy for your pals to jam to... Isn't that the same idea, but with different media!!??... think real hard about that one...Maybe it is just easy to be very critical about it, now that it can be traced...(This is an opinion... it obviously does not change the rules any!) If people want to pirate music over the net, they are going to... the smart thing to do is not be one of these people, and you will not be in trouble!
  15. Old school games... oh yes!The first games I have ever played were from Coleco Vision, Atari, Tandy 1000, and Commodore 64. I would play Kings Quest, Black Cauldron, Zaxxon, Gorf, PacMan, Lady Bug.... oh my on and on.Then NES came along and I played the Mario Brothers to death. You know, old NES games were very difficult! I don't know if it was my age, but as compared to SNES, they were tough! Final Fantasy came to life and I played it to death, also... and of course, to this day I still play Final Fantasy series... (still playing FFXII) Legend of Zelda, Tetris, Dr Mario, and the Disney games were fun because a lot of them were two player! But then SNES was created, and I basically let it take over my life! By then I was a teen and had my own TV in my room hooked up to SNES... and man it was FANTASTIC! Super Mario World, Allstars, Link to the Past (which I finished in one day)... Then a lot of great RPGS... 7th Saga, Lagoon, Secret of Mana (which was on PSX), and so on... but of course, Final Fantasy 2 and 3 (US versions).I would have to say the old school was the age of cartridge. I then bought N64 and played the newer Link and Mario games also, and also Mario Cart, but the technology was getting better even though it was a cartridge console.... now it is all disk, and it is overwhelmingly awesome! But where would we be today, if we never had the old school games and systems!
  16. Yes, it was nice to meet you, too, Sten. You bring a lot to the forums with a lot of knowledge. I also understand that it is hard to find a lot to type at a lot... I have only been here for a few months, and I also understand it is tough to keep up with a lot of forum postings. I do a lot with my own site, and it is tough to try to balance the two out... so I try to keep a few days available when I post... So I too, understand... Good luck with your new service, Sten!- skedad -
  17. After a fresh, brand new reformat, I make sure to keep up with newly installed programs, and seeing if I can take them off of running at startup. Then I try to limit how much gets loaded onto my PC, and try to stick to trusted sites. I guess you could put adware and spyware, but it basically means you have to be careful in the sites you explore. You can always make sure you have only what you want on your PC, like firewalls and antiviruses. Other programs may help but sometimes want to run constantly in the background. These will run along side your other applications, as long as it doesn't take all of the process speeds. So a good basic rule to follow is that if you are worried about how your PC runs, then try to keep to programs that you know, and be careful with what you are installing and running...
  18. I guess I have never tried Opera, so the voting isn't totally as fair as I usually would vote. It is only on my experiences and opinions without using Opera. On the positive side of things, I here Opera is a treat to use. I would most likely try Opera on a PC that I would not really use a lot. I might see using Opera at the moment to be an extra program to mix into a lot of other not useless, but a lot of inactive programs that are just eating up my harddrive space.I think I would replace IE with Opera, but I guess that would also be pointless. I have used Firefox for many years, and I am happy to see that it is the most rated on this post, so far. And I will continue to just happily use my Firefox like a good little follower! As for IE, I use it when I set up websites. I preview my updates in IE along side Firefox... but that is about it. I may use it for sites my wife uses and bookmarks.1 Firefox2 IE3 Opera - only because I have not used it...
  19. Maybe this is my age catching up with me now, but I really wasn't that impressed with GTA:SA. I really got into the previous two, but the newest just didn't really do it for me... I understand what the game genre is about, but it just started to seem too much, even for a GTA game.I did play a bit of it, and I thought riding the bike in the beginning was hilarious, but I just started losing interest in it... maybe it was getting to be a bit over the top for me... But I can see how everyone else could get into it... it is more violent and more crude than before, and if you are into it, you can really get into it.I have GTA III and Vice City, and I may just keep it at that... I can always blow up a car or seven when I really need to!
  20. This could be me being lazy, but I use Dreamweaver to create all of my web sites. It does sound pretty interesting, but if doesn't do anything that Dreamweaver does not do, then I really don't think that I will try it... But if there might be little cool 'quorks' that Joomla does solo, then I would be interested in playing around with the site.I do like to try new things, but if it not anything that I can do already, then I guess I really wouldn't waste my time... But if it works well for you all, I hope you enjoy it!- skedad -

    Computer Games

I don't usually fill up my PC with many games. I save the big game playing for my PS2. I would have to say that my all time favorite PC game is solitaire... because for each windows platform PC I had, it had it installed on it.I play all of the Windows games, but my brother got me into PC Emulators. So, I use the old NES, SNES, Genesis and MAME emulators... but I don't do too much of that right now either. He also gave me a copy of the Fallout games. I am kind of starting the first Fallout, but I just am not as involved. So basically, I will try anything as long as it is free and doesn't take up most of my harddrive!
  22. Myspace and others are more of the new deal because there will be many people in the world that are not designers and go mad over myspace. I myself am a graphic artist, and I have blogs (live journal) and have a myspace page myself. I used a lot of HTML to make a more interesting myspace, but I don't really do the whole redoing and redesigning of myspace like a used to. I made it look how ite was going to look, and then I just let it be.You can make your myspace however you like, and it takes different HTML specs to make it how you like, maybe to a point, but more customized than you can imagine.I have my own website, in which I go through Xisto, and that it was I put my designing flair to, now. I still use myspace, but when it comes to designing, I help my wife with hers and also the rest of my family and friends with HTML coding. So have your myspace, play with blogs and journals and do anything else you can think of! There will always be a need for spaces and sites on the world wide web.
  23. I might think of trying that... maybe after I find many ways of giving it viruses. Then I will try to upload a ton of spam and maybe install a lot of spyware. When I am than trying to reboot 60 times, I think I will unplug the PC, and then take the tower outside and then bash it a few times with a sledgehammer. You know, at first, I think I was just trying to be a smart (you know what) but I would see my brother in law doing just that. I would think it may be a good idea to try to see what your PC will do, but it is pointless and just a waste of time...Back to the smashing part, I would like to have a PC that I could do that to... maybe the old 3.1 system I used to use at work... That was a nice little vent entry... have fun, reboot many times and hope you don't kill ya system.
  24. I have heard of Lightroom, but have never tried it out. I use Photoshop myself, even though I am sure that many editors will get straight to the point when dealing with photo problems.I use a few different techniques for red eye and some for color correction and contrast. I did a lot of correction for a print shop I worked at and that is where I learned Photoshop very well.I am not sure what reliable programs are out there that are free or inexpensive. I have seen different kinds of software, and they went with different products. I have a digital camera, and I had photo editor that went along with it... and as well as my printer/scanner. But I did not install them, because I have been using photoshop. So, maybe to find the right one, you should do some shopping around online, or see if any of your older software has a basic editor included.
  25. While we were learning in our Cisco lab in college, we created a small LAN storm. It was interesting to learn that we had two sides of our class, and the second side would steal a lot of our bandwidth. We had a server PC on the other side that added an extra router in hopes to take the extra steps needed to get online. Well I believe he took a line to an outside WAN line, and instead of getting the extra bandwidth to our side of the room, he disrupted the left side of the room and each line went inactive. Sorry if my story is a little rough around the edges, it has been a while since I have been back in class! I just knew that storms were an interesting, but small threat to our learning process... But we went back and started fresh... and we made sure that we had more openings to the outside world.
