Correct one there Chris...it doesn't matter if you have 25 credits or 13 if you get the starter pack, you will drop to 3 credits. I learned this one the hard way I had 22 credits and went for the starter package cause I got impatient and got surprised when I had 3 credits after I got hosted. Remember Grasshoppers, Patence is a Virture. After all lots of doctors have lots of virtue, and they take em to the bank....

Building A Budget Gaming Pc how would you build a gaming pc?
Logan Deathbringer replied to discharges's topic in Software
it doesn't matter if your comparing the 32 bit athalon to the 32 bit P4, AMD still pwz the Intels. As for the overheating issues, they were addressed and fixed, its such old news I'm surprised it even made an appearance in this thread. -
20 Years From Now... Where do you see humanity?
Logan Deathbringer replied to Kyle Perkins's topic in Science and Technology
Well, I have a rather stark and grim view of the future. (Can't really blame me, humanity has disappointed me repeatedly) As we all know, fossil fuel is humanity's 2nd most important source of energy (after food). Allow let me quote some facts to help support my argument Here is a webpage with an estimate done earlier in the decade. The numbers are outdated, but I'll get to that in a minute. Okay, now for some good news. Here's a link estimating the oil reserves we have left globally. Keep in mind these numbers are taken at the end of 2001. Assuming the trajectory doesn't change, and the estimate are correct, we have 39 years worth of oil left. Okay then, so 50-70 years. so that fits pretty well with the updated numbers we have from 2001. If we have until 2050 before our oil runs out, what source of energy will we be using by then? Here's is a site that offers an objective view on replacing fossil fuels. I'll attempt to highlight the main points. In the current circumstances, there is only one technology that comes even within shouting distance of meeting the problems. In fact, the potential of that technology is vastly surplus to the scale of the problem. That technology is nuclear power generation. The rest of the technologies together may make useful contributions, but they are completely incapable of coming anywhere near to tackling the scale of the energy problem. -
P2P programs(merged) What P2P program are you using?
Logan Deathbringer replied to prolifik's topic in Computer Networks
I used Kazaa when it first came out and morpheus. Then as I got more into the P2P realm I started using bit torrent then moved out of kazza and morpheus to emule. Then when i found Warze P2P I move to it and now dont even use it. I'm stricktly bit torrent now and use the latest version of Azureus as of this post. -
Ok crs_wiz had a problem like that when I first tried using a Nuke_block and found that I was using the wrong username annotation. Then you have to make sure that all your files have the correct permissions. Hope that helps you out.

Good question how would one go about manually editing ones system to better take advantage of ones available bandwidth. Anyone know of a Thread here that I could look at as to how to do this. I'm running Win XP Home SP2 if that will help. -
The Good Ol' Days Discussions about systems long gone
Logan Deathbringer replied to thesand's topic in Hardware Workshop
The first computer that we had was a Texas Instruments TI-99/A. We had a printer, modem, voice syenthesiser, and tape deck for it. YES I did say tape deck, we stored home written programs on it. I remember playing PARSEC, and Hunt the Wampus on it. We later got a Commador 64, then my cousing gave me his ODESSY 2, game console. When I was in elementary school I remember playing Robot Odessy on my teachers Apple II/E, and learning BASIC on it. Then my mom surprising us one day with a brand new IBM Compatable 286 with a math coprocessor and a Hercules COLOR Graphic card and COLOR monitor and a Sound Card! We also had a printer. Now we have systems that run 100 times faster, 100 times the graphics, and we can litterally talk to each other with our computers. What we can do now from home, major businesses couldn't even do with their massive main frames 15 yrs ago. -
With the XBox360 launching before the PS3 I think that if Sony does lead the pack again I think it will be by a small margin. The 360, in my humble opinion, is gonna be the better machine. While Sony is touting that the PS3 is massivly faster and more powerful then its predisesor, which is a good thing, from what I hear they are still holding onto the predetermined game design format while XBox is one again saying, "you have X amount of ram and disc space, have fun."As for the only thing that is gonna make the PS3 Truely stand out from the crowd with the specs that have been "offically" released to-date, the Blu-Ray support, we will have to wait and see if Blu-Ray becomes the next standard, or go the way of the super-disk, DAT, mini-disc, and the 8 track. As for me, while I have played many games on the sony systems, and if I could afford to I bought used playstations (1 and 2). I bought the XBox when it first launched, and I'll be buying the 360 when it launches and watch to see where the PS3 goes.

Building A Budget Gaming Pc how would you build a gaming pc?
Logan Deathbringer replied to discharges's topic in Software
Ok for the most part there aren't any games that are specifically made to run better on the Pentium Chip verses the Athalon Chip. Those days are long gone since the AMD chips now have MMX built into them, and for the most part most game manufacturers don't build games that only use the 3DNow! extentsions and not use MMX.As for general program usage, the AMD Athalon Series usually posts better scores then the Pentium series. You can debate over the bandwidth and what not but ever since the Thunderbird series AMD has usually kept the lead in chip performance although Intel has taken the lead on a few occasions but AMD steps up and takes the lead back. -
Nasa Sets Shuttle Launch Date Discovery set to fly...
Logan Deathbringer replied to sparx's topic in Science and Technology
Well from what I know about the X-prize was that they had to make 2 launches in as many weeks to a preset altitude. I watched one of the Launches on a Discovery Channel program and the pilot had M&M candies floating around the *BLEEP*-pit. As for the future of the X-prize winner from what I know they plan on trying to start comercial trips soon...not sure will check to see if I can find out before finishing this post...will go check now...hold on... Mojave Aerospace Ventures won the prize and here is an artical exerp that I found about the company, taken from the following site: View full artical, "SpaceShipOne, Ansari X Prize Winner" here Mojave Aerospace Ventures prides itself as the furry little mammal on the back of the dinosaurs that once led the space race. "I think they're looking at each other and saying we're scr###d," opined Burt Rutan of his counterparts at NASA. "I have a [much] bigger goal. I have to make a commercial flight program that's 100 times safer than anything we have now." With the financial backing of Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic (and soon, Virgin Galactic), "we're putting about 100 million dollars into space," Rutan's charge is to provide five vehicles, each capable of lofting five individuals to similar heights three years from now. "I'll be on that first flight in three years time," said Branson. Those vehicles could likely become the world's initiation into space tourism. Branson said 5 million had expressed interest in the idea and at least 5,000 indicated they would spend the close to $200,000 for a ticket. And, "Any money we make from space travel we will reinvest in more space travel," Branson Said. As for the future of the X-prize? Now that the first X-prize has been won now they are planning on moving on and starting the X-Cup. To me it sound like fun here is a excerp from an artical and a link to read it: Read, "The New Race to Space" here One vehicle is not enough, "what we need is a fleet of space ships" said X Prize braintrust, Dr. Peter Diamandis. As AVweb told you Thursday, there's a new X Prize venture in the works, Diamandis' new baby is the X Prize Cup. "We need a sandbox to push the envelope to go higher faster farther," he said. Not unlike the golden age of air racing, Diamandis said the Cup aims to use competition to keep technology moving and stimulate a new era of public interest and involvement in aerospace development. It also intends to hone industrial competition for Rutan's team -- "A Dell and Gateway ... not just Apple." The X Prize Cup would pit teams and their vehicles against one another, seeking multi-million dollar prizes for "altitude records to 400,- 425,- 450,000 feet" and beyond, "time-to-climb" competitions, "turn-around" time, "how far they can go in a single flight?" and more. Nasa and other "Government" funded space programs are in a world of trouble in my opinion. With the private sector coming into its own when it come to space exploration, the big-bulky-burocraticly driven programs like NASA might be on their way to extinction unless they can evolve and become able to compete commercially with the likes of Branson and his soon to be born Virgin Galactic corporation. -
Windows Xp Vs. Linux Which one do you prefer?
Logan Deathbringer replied to Airlub's topic in Websites and Web Designing
OK Let me put my 2 cents in. First off LINUX no matter distro you use in not really made for the common, everyday, end user. It doesn't matter if it comes with a GUI, which in my opinion is a travasty that should never have happened to Linux. Linux is for people who want to have their own small, reletive term, home based server or small business server. Second Windows WAS designed from its birth, though depending on who you side with was stolen from apple, to be a "user friendly" interface to allow anyone who could figure out how to use a mouse to use a computer. Now as for stability, any unix/linux based system will win here hands down. Although you can definetly say that XP is a major leap forward for MicroSoft both in stability and security, which some might agree isn't saying much. If MS wants to really get a good OS outta the box they really need to have their programing groups talking to each other more often. The whole problem with the MS OS development team from what I understand, is that they split the development into like 4 groups and then don't have them really communicate untill just before launch. -
Nasa Sets Shuttle Launch Date Discovery set to fly...
Logan Deathbringer replied to sparx's topic in Science and Technology
Also think about this...with the X-prize now in the hads of a private corporation NASA is now competing with a private company for launches comercial launches and what not. With the Shuttle fleet ageing I think its time to start thinking about coming up with a new space vehicle or we might be seeing a lot more Challanger and Discovery type accedents. -

Laptop Battery Out Laptops Battery not Charging
Logan Deathbringer replied to iGuest's topic in Software
I would suggest going and buying a new battery, then trying it in the laptop and seeing if it will charge. If it does then that means your current batter is toast and needs to be disposed of, if it doesn't charge it either means you have a bad AC adapter or the internal charging system of your laptop is bad. At that point I would suggest taking it in and having it looked at by a tech and then decide if you want to try to have what every is wrong fixed/replaced or getting a new laptop.I hope its just the battery or AC adapter. Good luck and let us know what happens. -
Using Php With Front Page
Logan Deathbringer replied to Houdini's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Frontpage is pretty much just a pure HTML type editor/generator. If your wanting PHP I've heard that Dreamweaver is the way to go. Personally after using FP for as long as I have I'm moving on to Dreamweaver as soon as I can afford to. -
Also remember that the PHP_nuke feature that you can get through Fantastico is a 22 meg feature. If your using the "starter package" same as me you will burn up your space and then some just by installing that addon. If your really wanting to use Nuke then make a few extra posts a day and build up your credits and upgrade your account.

I hate to sound like a mina bird and repeat everyone but its best to post up and build up your credits for the time your gonna be away. Although there is another option someone else posted in another Thread pertaining to vacations also, that being asking a friend you trust to post for ya while your gone. The only problem with this idea is can you trust them not to break the TOS and Rules on your behalf.

Im Goin Away, How Can I Keep My Account
Logan Deathbringer replied to Hunguyen's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hope everything works out man, and you have a great vacation. This is truely the only draw back to this Hosting service...keeping enough credits up when one goes on vacation, especially when you just start up and find it a bit hard to get the posts going. In my case its that I'm very limited and a bit timid when it comes to postin...you know the limited knowledge factor. Once again have a happy vacation and keep on posting. -
Webhosting Size Is Inclusive Of Sql?
Logan Deathbringer replied to Casanova1405241497's topic in Web Hosting Support
ok just to make sure I got this straight for my own site and well mindedness, so as not to go over the crazy line anymore then I already have. It tells you how much space your SQL is taking up on the disk, but when it says 50 megs used that already includes the SQL/PHP databases in it already?Do I have that correctly understood? -
Im Having Lots Of Problems
Logan Deathbringer replied to SpartacusUSTASA's topic in Web Hosting Support
Best idea man is if you are using your website as a storage area so you can access your files from other places you might go, password protect them so that only you can access them. Another idea is to download them to the computer your at so that your not restreaming them each and every time you listen to them from that computer. Doing that should help you concerve your bandwidth while still letting you use your files. Also if you put them up for public use without permission from their repective copywrite owners you could possibly get in trouble. -
Nasa Sets Shuttle Launch Date Discovery set to fly...
Logan Deathbringer replied to sparx's topic in Science and Technology
There's more to problems than the fuel gauge alone. Was reading Space earlier and found this. It still amazes me that something so simple can go wrong on a million dollar machine. Just imagine if that window cover falling off mid-launch and not on Tuesday... After the Columbia incident, I feel it has been all about saving face and not really about the safety of the spacecraft. Whenever a situation arises, how many times does the government actually admit they know anything about the situation? Maybe it is time they start taking space exploration seriously - after all our planet is getting a bit crowded. -
the biggest problem with FP is that no matter what verions you use I have yet to find that is supports PHP, full blown CGI, SSL. To be able to fully use its abilities you must use a server with FPE's on it and if not then FP becomes a very bulky, and stupid, HTML editor that doesn't know what to do with its self.
